S7 wont go into LTE tmobile unlocked/cricket sim - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Sorry if this a repost of any nature I purchased a phone off a guy in cricket the other day who said his s4 was running faster then his s7.
so i got the s7 cheap.
I have the s7 now everything works except these factors:
1. the imei is 15 chrs and the imeisv is 2 chrs
2. i cant get it to go into LTE and the preferred networks are all 2g and 3g.
3. i have tried changing the APN's but to no avail when i type *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer i cant change it from wcdma prefferred to anything of the cdma/gsm/lte auto
the weather is stuck on London aswell.. if that helps any? and only allows update from 2g/3g network
im new to this anby havent messed with odin yet. it is unlocked for the wifi hotspot which cricket doesn't allow. which is odd to me.
tldr:
pretty much my problem is the internet is slow and the data is slow i want to be able to get it to faster speeds
any help would be appreciated

From what I've heard in other threads, I think that you have to call your carrier so they can unlock the phone. Then you will be able to use LTE, but since its the exynos it will show it as 4G, its the same thing.

My bad, I thought it was the exynos. Maybe that will help. https://www.cricketwireless.com/sup...ice-byod/customer/bring-your-own-android.html
Also you need to make sure that your phone has all the bands Cricket uses for LTE in your area. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-G930TZKATMB
With this code you can change bands priority ##3282# but you will need the MLS code.
I'm not much of a help as I'm from Europe and dont really know about carrier phones. Seems like T-Mobile, for example, has unlocked only the bands it uses and not all the bands so you can't go to another carrier easily.

I have the T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and use it on AT&T, so you'll have no problems. Dial *#2263# and hit select all bands then hit apply band configuration. Exit and you should have LTE working. To confirm dial *#0011# and see what LTE band you're connected to.

I think you just got a lemon (bad) phone from the Cricket dealer. Try and get a warranty exchange through Samsung.

" Searching for service " problem

Hello ! I got this phone a little over a week ago and it was perfectly fine until 2 days ago. I keep getting " searching for network " even though I have signal ( and full bar ) and 4G LTE. I can't make a call or send a text but my internet works fine. I went to Verizon to get a new SIM card and it's still the same. I even download an app to turn off 4G LTE to see if it helped , nope. I searched and can't find anything for the Verizon version of the phone. Someone had the same problem with Sprint. I've tried factory reset as well. Phone is bone stock. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :good:

I would try reprovisioning the sim. I'd have to find it(on my phone multitasking), course you can do the same, but there is a code you type in the dialer that reprovisions the sim on the phone.

Now, rather that works or not I'm not going to try since I'm having no problems.
Just wonder, are you using the stock battery that came with your phone or are you using an after market one?
This sounds like my phone, sorta. I lost LTE, unless I lock it in using the phoneinfo app, from the market, but when I lock it to LTE then I don't have voice or texting any longer. I rooted my phone, but don't thing that had anything to do with it, because I wasn't getting 4G before I rooted. I haven't called Verizon to get any help yet, but I plan to tomorrow. Have you tried to lock it to cdma, using the phone info app? I am just curious if you can use voice and data on 3G, if you lock it down. If I get any words of wisdom from them tomorrow, I will let you know.

I have a similar issue - I have a mobile signal, but not recognizing the verizon network. No 4G LTE or anything. I was rooted and flashed cyanogenmod 9 when this happened. I've since taken it back to verizon store to get new SIM and unrooted to factory and still nothing.
I'm starting to think that It's the phone and not something I did to it. Though, I read in another post something about IMEI issues (I see my IMEI number) or that I need to flash the PIT.

I am using the stock battery. Just tried the code you mentioned , will report back later today. Thanks !
does this work? i am having the same issues. searching for service on the lockscreen. and the antenna keeps going from 3 bars to none and a circle with a slash through it. any ideas?
update. didn't do squat but restore the phone back to stock. also it re locked the boot-loader. and lost super user. i hope it reboots now. i had to unlock the boot-loader and install SU from the market. but the searching for server still persists.
I have the same exact issue. I actually made a post about it and no one would respond. I had perfect service on mine until I rooted the phone and as soon as I rooted it it started the searching for service ****, even though it shows I have service. When it pulls up searching for service I am able to use the web but no texts or calls. I just don't understand what the problem is nor how to fix it. I have flashed all the different modems and none of them changed anything in the long run. Please someone help us!

[Q] Can the modem from XT1045 be flashed to XT1042?

I got the XT1042 working On T-Mobile and At&t but the signal that I get for AT&T is so weak that it can barely be used. Can I flash the modem from the XT1045 to the XT1042 and would it help?
How?
How did you get it to work on T-mobile and At&t? I accidentally bought an xt1042 motherboard and have been trying to do the same thing with no luck. I did flash the at&t stock image from an xt1045 as part of my attempt, and that is what the phone is on now and it seems to be working fine. At one point the phone was being recognized as an xt1045 when connected to the computer, but I don't remember what made it do that.
I used the QUALCOMM BAND UNLOCKER guide here on XDA to unlock the GSM bands and then set the phone to RUIM Only using DFS. This is the band reference that worked for me the best: 562950069289863. If I unlocked too many bands the phone did not get a signal. Since we can get the diag port to show up by booting into BP Tools mode, most of the guide is not needed. Only the QPST and RV_NV_Manager.exe part to read/write the bands after getting the reference number from mzTool_1.2.1a.exe.
I hope this helps.
Oh and the SPL/MSL was 000000 for this model.
I've tried flashing different basebands from the xt1045. It never shows a change in the about phone. On a whim I flashed a radio from the xt1032 I think. The difference here was that it was a flashable zip. After trying that the baseband did change, but it just said unknown. It didn't work, but it's better than it not changing at all I think we might need someone with an actual xt1045 to make a flashable zip of the modem for us. That MIGHT work.

Mine is now working completely. Or at least it seems to be. I have 4g LTE with an at&t sim card, and I've verified calls and texting. My device is recognized as an xt1045 when plugged into the computer, and I'm running a rooted at&t rom. I used your settings for the band unlock and flashed the at&t stock rom. Pretty cool haha
Sweet. Glad you got it going.

When I unlocked the European bands the phone would not get a signal on US bands. I am not sure what caused this. The only way to know if it will work is to get one in Europe and test it.
I am currently at Europe and I would like to do the test but can I roll back the operation if something goes wrong? For example phone will not get signal on US and EU bands for some reason?

I was able to roll back by putting the default bands back into the NV item.
So before you write the new bands to your NV take note of the default bands that are there and if you do not get a signal then write the default bands back to your NV.
I have done this on several different phone models and after putting the defaults back, the phone worked just as it did before any changes were made.
just be sure not to change anything else. Only the bands in the NV item specified in the guide.

Once you have the phone connected to your PC with a diag port, open DFS and choose the port for your phone.
Send SPC as 000000 (all zeros)
Cleck Read next to the Ruim Config, just to see what it is set to, then change it to RUIM Only and click write.
I also found that you can get a signal lock on T-Mobile towers much better and faster if you flash the phone to RETUS_XT1045 4.4.3 or 4.4.4.
I did not need to set it to RUIM only after flashing this firmware to the phone. I only needed to set the bands.
if you have problems keeping a connection then try this band reference instead: 101188096.
This band is only for T-Mobile USA frequencies. I still can not get it to connect to AT&T USA towers.

There is another way to access the service menu?
Not that I know of. I never used it myself. The mztool shows the bands that you are trying to activate and testing the phone with active sim cards shows me which networks it gets GSM, WCDMA and LTE on. Even if the bands get activated they may not work. It depends on what the phone is capable of right?

Update sm-g920v (vzw) that is now sm-s906l (st)

I have an SM-S906L. It was made for Verizon as SM-G920v and sold to straight talk who then turned it into the hodge podge. I want to root, I also want to update from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1 or 6.0 preferably. Also my LTE has stopeed working and I dont know how to fix or do any of this. I am a newbie at all of this. The more I research and learn the more confused I become! I think my brains binary just needs an update. Or maybe someone could say that key phrase and it will all click. I dont have access to a PC for several more weeks. But with the similarity between a PC and the S6 I dont understand why I cant use itself to do the things I need. Maybe thats obviously not possible nd I just dont understand lol HELPPP!

Are you still having issues? Are you currently rooted? Do you know how to unlock service menu? You can select different lte bands there and see if that fixes your lte issue as long as your rooted. . I'm pretty sure since OF1 (5.0.2) build there are no root exploits after that.
Thank you
I am not rooted, i was hoping someone could walk me through it. I have a computer now and wanted to try odin. But I don't know how. I tried ping pong but it said it didn't have my specs and to try back, or maybe I didn't it wrong lol and yes it is a sm-s906l but when I bought the phone it said sm-s906lzkatfn on tracfone website to register. and when I go to straighttalk it says sm-s906ludu1a0g8 and when Samsung sent an email to register it says it's a sm-s906ltfn1aog8 so I'm seriously confused, several apps say it is actually the last one. I'm rooted now, and I can activate my LTE but when it's on it can only use web, mms and sms. No phone calls, only when in 3g. But I can't seem to find any cust rooms for my phone, except for one and it's TWRP but I don't know if it worked or not for him? I used Kingo and have SuperSU installed and several other apps, I'm curious about Xposed but dunno to much about it.

I believe xposed for gs6 is on 5.1 firmware and up and it's a unofficial version by wanam. No root exploits have been made for our phones on those firmwares, so no xposed. There are a few roms for Verizon gs6 but they are all tw based because of the locked bootloader. I can throw my sim back in my S6 and copy info from apn settings to see if they match yours.
If you're still having issues with your LTE -by any chance did you accidentally dial the old *228 or *22890 to program the phone? If so that programs the sim with the old access info and only allows access to the 3G network. The only real fix that I'm aware of is to have ST send you another sim, it's free of charge. I may have miss-understood the topic of "no phone calls", but Verizon's network isn't able to allow you to use the web while on a call like AT&T can, unless you're using the HD Voice feature that uses the LTE data for placing the call. If you instead meant that you're unable to make calls at all while on a LTE connection then the replacement SIM should fix that as well.
PSA TO ANYONE WITH A VERIZON LTE DEVICE - DO NOT DIAL THE *228 OR *22890 PROGRAMMING NUMBERS, THEY WILL BREAK YOUR ACCESS TO LTE AND YOU'LL BE STUCK ON 3G UNTIL YOU GET A NEW SIM CARD.

Ok, please do, and where could I find the cust roms, I went to tryou twrp and the info said not to unless I had a customer kernel, but I don't know where to find those, I have tried digging around but not much info for this, another thing I noticed is my imei is A3LSMN-G900V/ A3LSMG-G910V When I went to imei website, Google also refers it to asay a s5, so it is a hodge podge of parts from different phones, that I paid $700 for brand new out of a box? The sim is for an s5??? I should Ave done more research, I hate ST now, when their tech support told me to remove the battery that's just what I lost all respect for him I think they're just a freaking joke lol. I know more then 80% of their tech supprt, and I'm self taught and learned what little I know from all these talented ppl that I'll never even meet lol

Yes, and thats exactly what happened to me. Im rooted, so just went into my system files using shortcut master from playstore, and went into my radio setting that's normally hidden. And messed around with the lte related stuff and then restarted my phone, after a few fails, and one making it so I don't get calls I finally fixed it. And now have LTE again
So do you still need apn info? Looks like you got that straighten out. Or did you just fix the LTE problem? As far as roms, if you search the Verizon Galaxy S6 Andriod Development in xda there will be 6 or so different roms to choose from. But no kernnels because of locked bootloader. There is a app by chainfire called flashfire in playstore that you will use to flash any of those roms in that section
I have my LTE as of 2 days ago, but now my MMS isn't working lol smh! Ugh so yes apn's would be great

Thank you, do you have the one for ims, mms or cbs?
On another note, I ran my IMEI number and it says it's an galaxy s5 followed by these FCC ID's. Funny cuz google sites always say I have an s5 also.
(A3LSMG-900V..Galaxy S5/A3LSMN-910V..Note4..)
If I look at the FCC ID in my phone it says
(A3LSMG-920V)
So do I have an s5 sim? Or parts in my phone?

I just ran mine on imei.Info and it came back as Galaxy Tab S. I have the ultra micro sim. Don't know what's in the s5. My s3 had a micro sim. As far as the other parameters, they weren't listed under APN settings.

Not Getting 4G/LTE on AT&T in the US

So I finally ran Speed Test at several locations on mobile and am only getting 2-3 mb download and 1-2 upload. I have never seen a 4G or LTE symbol next to the signal bars either, it's typically either H or H+. I am on the international model MHA-L29 in the USA, and I know that the locations I've tested my phone at have LTE for AT&T. I activated the phone 2-3 days ago. Is there something I need to do in my settings? Is there anything to check?

Sure you have to put the correct apn.
@gm007 My options under APNs are "ATT Nextgenphone" (currently selected), or "ATT Phone". Should I try switching to "ATT Phone" and rebooting?

Yes try, sorry im not in usa and don't know carrier settings. Maybe you can call ur operator to get the correct settings.
And look in the mobile network settings that you enabled 4g(lte),try the auto mode

Let us know when you fix it ,good luck.
So my forum searching has led me to this path: Buy a cheap 4G AT&T GoPhone ($30), and call AT&T to update my IMEI with the IMEI of the new phone and tell them to activate LTE. Supposedly that worked on AT&T when the original OnePlus came out in the US and people were having the same issue I am having.
Just another update in case anyone is following:
I was able to get though the idiot AT&T prepaid rep and to a tech support guy last night. He said he is going to have them manually enter my IMEI into "the database" and see if that helps get me LTE. My phone is showing as "unknown device" to them right now, so he said check back in a week-ish and see if it's changed from "unknown" to "Huawei Mate 9", which will indicate that my IMEI is in the database. If so, then I check my speeds again. The tech support guy also confirmed that the idea of buying a $30 prepaid AT&T LTE phone and having them update the IMEI with the one from that phone would do the same thing. Anyway, now we wait a week....

It's just because it's an international phone and not officially available on a US carrier (yet). Still sucks though. Supposedly if I switched to T-Mobile it would get LTE out-of-the-box, which I may do if this doesn't work. Lucky I'm on prepaid so switching shouldn't be an issue if I need to.

I'd pretty much guarantee that I'd have LTE on my service provider as long as the correct bands are supported. So it seems like AT&T needs to vet every device for some reason.

Yeah, they (AT&T) do have a "database" for devices, and some international devices are "unknown" unless they're specifically entered. And not just the general device, Huawei Mate 9, I'm talking about specific IMEIs.

Yup, that sounds pretty bad to me. You're paying them for service. They shouldn't care that it's an AT&T or unlocked device. They get paid either way although it kinda sounds like they want to push you toward buying devices through AT&T by making you jump through hoops to discourage you.

I guarantee you that every provider in the US wants you to buy phones through them. It is still capitalism over here There is definitely more bullsh*t to deal with if you bring your own device and/or do prepaid, including crappier customer service, but the trade-off is that it's cheaper and you can switch providers anytime.
Odd, I have a L29 on ATT and LTE works just fine. Put my SIM in and no problems whatsoever.

Weird. How do you know? Do you see an "LTE" symbol in the bar, or "4G"? When you run Speed Test, what are you're DL and UL speeds? Where in the US are you located? Last question (for now), were you already on AT&T with an LTE-equipped phone prior to the Mate 9, and if so, did you just pop in the SIM (did you verbally give AT&T the IMEI of your Mate 9)?

Hey @DKM119, were you already on T-Mo with a LTE-equipped phone prior to switching to the Mate 9? If so, did you give them the IMEI of your Mate 9, or did you just pop the SIM out of the old phone and into the Mate 9? Just trying to prepare in case I do switch to T-Mo.
International unlocked phones refer to LTE as 4G therefore they show 4G icon. when you see 4G on an international phone it means you have lte. quick clarification

It says 4G in the corner
Haven't used speedtest yet - but using LTE Discovery, I'm on Band 5 in Atlanta
I've been using a SIM from an ATT-LTE phone - but I haven't bought a branded phone in years. I just popped the sim in and it configured itself. No APN input needed

Dial *#*#4636#*#* to display information about phone.
Looks like AT&T sim from my Nexus 5X might get me on WiFi calling. Can anyone confirm?
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
My setup looks the same (sim previously in a pixel) but I think it's lying to us. My phone still drops to 3G during calls.
I wonder if the IMEI on your AT&T account was changed to a device that supports wifi calling/advanced LTE if they would both work?
The SIM in Essential is the LG Nexus 5X IEMI for sure
I'm showing the same with a sim from an S7 Edge. However, WiFi calling doesn't seem to be working. On my S7 I was able to make WiFi calls with my cellular antenna turned off, I can't do the same with my PH-1.
On Sprint, I needed to get a new SIM as my Nexus 6P SIM didn't work, nor did my U11 but that might be due to other reasons. (It sorta worked, but didn't like it).
Went to a store that had them in stock, threw it in, and Boom! LTE+ and crystal clear phone calls. (The earpiece really is good and loud, almost too loud).
I couldn't care less for WiFi Calling since my WiFi is much worse than Sprint LTE... Surprise surprise.
No service on voice on sprint network
My phone connected fine for four days to voice and data now all I have is data no voice it says voice out of service I can't make or receive calls at all only data I when to the Sprint store today and was there for 2hrs and still no voice only data this phone is 700 bucks and all I have is data smh essential support is no help I been begging for a full refund for 6 days now

My HTC 10 sim wouldn't work either. Sprint locks certain Sims to certain phone groups. Anyone with an unlocked ph1 on Sprint will most likely have to go get a new Sim and will most likely have to factory reset phone after activation to get it all working.

Call local sprint stores or sprint support themselves and get a new Sim. It's not the phone's fault as mine did this when I used the sim from my U11 which did exactly the same thing you're describing.
They sent me a brand new SIM card for the phone also I was at the sprint tech store where they tried another sim also so yes it is the phone

Did you try a factory reset after the new SIM?
Took a shot at having ATT try provisioning with Essential IMEI instead of LG Nexus 5X. Network not recognizing PH-1 IMEI. It only provisions UMTS, no LTE. No data network. On chat support for hours.
Update:
As reported on forums, AT&T does not yet recognize this phone's IMEI, and when force registering to network, and reading the serial number, it forces UMTS with no data service. Had to pull SIM back in Nexus 5X to reregister and provision LTE with Nexus IMEI. Returned SIM to PH-1 and now have my data back, as well the s#!+ cell signal I had since day 1.
Why do people even bother provisioning with AT&T. Everytime I interact with them, they have managed to make my problem worse.
If you have a properly provisioned LTE sim from a prior phone, just pop it into the essential and do not call ATT.
APN Business.....stuck...return label in hand.
Got my PH1 yesterday and really do like it. Really struggling with APN settings. I have Cellcom (Wisconsin based using Verizon Network), I put in my sim and change network type to global(I’ve tried most of the other options) I can go into Edit Access Point and modify the majority of the info except APN Type...needing to add mms to the “default, dun, supl, mms” or course that is grayed out. Which results in texts going thru but mms photos and group messages sit and spin until erroring out. Any ideas?
No option to add a new apn. Can only reset to default.

No, you definitely can't. Not if your phone isn't working completely on Verizon like mine also. No plus sign, and about half the APN settings are not changeable. I was able to change one setting and got mms working.

I know this is an old post but if you have a Verizon sim, even if not active, you should be able to add a new apn. Then after saving pop your cellcom sim in.

Using 8.1 Official and on Verizon. I notice APN bearer as a double comma after HSPAR. I have seen some parsing software consider a double comma as an end of string null. I wonder if the last two entries are being seen by the phone? HSDPA and HSUPA
