Hopefully someone can port to our phone soon. Android 7.0 Nougat is being uploaded to AOSP right now http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/08/23/android-7-0-nougat-is-being-uploaded-to-aosp-right-now/ …
:silly: That Moment, when every time you come to XDA to post something useful from AP and you end up finding that it already posed by some fellow member who is faster than you
PS : i think this thread should be in General Section , it's far useful than those android N experience threads even before a shade of N for N5
Great!!!!!!

I heard over on Android Authority that Samsung has release its JellyBean source code for the i1900. I know our phones have a different processor, so it's not going to work on our phones, but given that they share at least a name, should I be hopeful that there could be some goodness in there to help move our Skyrocket's along with JellyBean (e.g. CyanogenMod 10.1), or even hopes of an official JellyBean release from Samsung?

There is already a Samsung JB leak in Development forum, you should have taken a look there.

Should have done a search? I did, thanks. Searched for "jelly bean source". No hits. So I posted.
And a leaked *compiled* ROM does not equal source. Now it does answer my question about the Skyrocket getting Jelly Bean, and further implies there will eventually be a source delivery. That does not mean that the regular S2 Jelly Bean source available now can't offer a more immediate impact.
Also note that the UCLK4 thread in the development forum is slightly over one day old as of now. At the time I posted this thread, it was about 12 hours old. And the one in the General section was started after.
In fact, I saw the S2 news at AA much earlier yesterday but decided to wait to ask so others with more knowledge and experience could preemptively answer my question. But, via my search, I didn't find my answer.
So, yes, I agree my thread is now irrelevant. But at the time, it was hardly as clear as the smug replies in this thread suggest.
Sorry for my rudeness in response to yours. I know you guys have to put up with a lot of newbs. But the robotic and condescending dismissals are just as annoying to see over and over again, especially after I *did* do my due diligence.

I didn't mean anything harsh in my reply, but answered half of your question, a half that seemed to me the most important one (our phone having official Samsung JB).
To answer one more thing: the sources are good for some things, namely if your goal is to patch the new kernel to the old driver binaries (the kind of work that's necessary for old and non-supported phones to run the latest OS found on their latest siblings with the same chipset) - but if your goal is to run the full OS with official latest drivers that it's built to run with, without precompiled binaries the source is good for nothing. And the patching work is futile if the official release is a month-two away.
The title is self explanatory and to those newcomers who need an introduction or a basic understanding about Cyanogenmod (CM for short), here it is:
CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware based on the open-source Android operating system.
The Galaxy S7 Edge | S7 are great smartphones and they have really taken over the market in many ways but I'm here to talk about now and the future of these devices.
Samsung has been pushing updates at a stable rate so far and security has never been so much tighter with these monthly patches.
However after at least 18 months both of these devices will no longer receive software updates. And software is what helps keep these devices going on the long run.
End-of-life dates for the S7 Edge | S7 are already set privately by Sammy and ready to be applied in the near future.
Cyanogenmod is the gateway of... let the term for now be: "afteruse".
CM being the gateway of afteruse can boost the lifetime of these devices since they really deserve more time with their owners.

Fevax is willing to port Cyanogenmod 13 for the Galaxy S7 Edge G935F and when a working build is up and ready he will start to port it for the Flat S7 G930F. A pledge is already being taken place at the above link and if you wish to invest for a working port then please do so it would mean a lot to the community. If you'd like to test the software at its early alpha stages your most welcome just visit the link and comment your intention.
As a side note this is a discussion thread so feel free to comment down below concerning what I've posted above or post about the subject at hand and your feelings from it and towards it.
Thank you and have a nice day.

I'm pretty much explaining why and how developing Cyanogenmod for the Galaxy S7 Edge | S7 can be fruitful. To attract owners and users of these devices and increase the popularity of the main thread by providing it's means and how necessary or important it is.
Also the developer might just appreciate helpful hands here and there with donations and alpha testers on the table of the development.

Im tired of seeing these Note 7 roms and I want to relive these Cyanogenmod days but Cyanogenmod is dead. Is there a possibility that there is a way we can get developers to build a rom for the superiour Note 4? I like Lineage OS because of its OTA function that releases bug fixes and updates. Im not offending anyone or anything... Its just not my taste. I think 7.X is a big milestone for the Note 4 since Samsung wont release any more upgrades anymore due to its age. I know some people who want 7.X so bad but their good phones are "TOO OLD" I will sit here and wait til someone builds it.
+1 for this.
Just a vanilla port though with minimal modifications, and good Open GApps support.
EDIT: In the meantime, there is this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3536401
It appears to have a build for SM-N910T (trltetmo), but who knows how long the developer will support it. I can't help but think since one prolific developer on XDA abandoned a Nougat CM project because he couldn't work on it anymore, I don't have a lot of trust for anyone right now....

Q&A thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/help/request-lineage-os-sm-n910t-t3546115
Many previous Samsung flagship phones have had TERRIBLE user experiences with new major Android releases. My S7 (Exynos on Tmobile) has been prompting me to download and install Android 7, and I don't want to! Not while I'm not convinced it's gonna be a worse experience over the now smooth Android 6 it is currently running. My last phone was the S4, and the upgrade from Android 4 to 5 was terrible for everyone. I ran a Danvd 4.4.4 and that's about as good as it got for the S4.
I also don't trust Google to get any major Android revision right until Android x.1 Not gonna be a Google beta tester for my daily driver!
So, I am looking around here to see if there is any discussion about the upgrade from Android 6 to Android 7, from Samsung, and I'm a bit surprised to not see one.
Am I missing something?
So does everyone love Android 7.0 or should folks be waiting for Android 7.1 ?
You're not looking very far if you can't find any discussion about Nougat 7.0, that's just about all people are discussing now
If you don't like it, flash back to MM with ODIN
Nougat is IMO quicker and more optimised than MM now, better settings UI, better in just about everything, I flashed back to MM a while ago and didn't enjoy it one little bit, big clunky and childish compared to Nougat
one response with a bit of snark..... so... you don't know then, right? thanks.
Not looking to root, so flashing Nougat for a try and then flashing back is not possible.
This would specifically be a topic on accepting the factory upgrade to Nougat from Marshmallow; where most of the opinions here about Nougat are discussed in threads about custom ROMs.
In years past, this specific kind of discussion would have its own thread. Hunting for opinions on this throughout 100s of threads is just not going to work.
One snarky response because of the retarded question
Go read some threads, you obviously haven't

You are an asshole. Already did plenty of looking around, and there are no threads to facilitate discussion on how well received the general rollout is. You don't understand the ask, so just move along if you don't like a question.
For those interested:
Here is some pertinent stuff. It's mostly beta discussion.... Feb rollout by around post count 80
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/samsung-s7-nougat-final-ota-t3532213
The usual stuff: Not much love at all for Samsung's Nougat rollout. Lot's of reports of annoying bugs, bad batter life, etc.
Also, there is some better discussions about the wide Nougat rollouts in US-carrier-specific sub-forums.

Dude, STFU! What are you, 12 years old? I asked some simple questions, and you started right out with your juvenile ****. grow up!
Moderators, could you please close and remove this useless thread? Thanks to this asshat!
Dude? And you're calling me 12? lmao
Next time you start a thread, make sure you've read a few first
You wonder why no-one else has replied here, why your thread isn't a huge hit? Because it is attempting to start a subject being discussed all over the S7 forums in multiple threads already, but you would have known that if you'd read a few first.
You really think you can come late in the game to a forum as huge as XDA, to the busy S7 forums, where MM has been already upgraded to Nougat for most people, and think you are going to be the first to start a thread about MM vs Nougat?
Those sort of threads started at the beginning of the Nougat beta programme last year
Come on 'dude', even if you couldn't be bothered to look, you could have worked out for yourself that wasn't going to be the case.
I guess your description of this thread being useless is correct though, so congrats on that :good:

I swear that whyred users have zero understanding of XDA rules and general discipline on forums (props to those of you who do understand).
What's the point of this thread in development section? What's actually the point of the thread like this anywhere on forums? The blog which has the GCam apk updates is available to anyone and the people are already familiar with GCam updates there and are aware that there is new apk, and surely if something gets fixed it will be posted in *already* present proper threads.
The forums here are already extremely bloated with pointless threads opening everywhere with questions like - How to take screenshot, how to install gcam, how to flash this or that, what is encryption, give me links pls, fix this pls. For example, when new MIUI stable update gets released (was happening with Beta as well) right away 5 threads open with the same content about how it was released!
And also people forget that Global/China and Indian variants have different issues sometimes and they still fail to mention what variant they use when giving feedback and reporting issues.
This is just a mess.
Working in pixel experience! although the front camera does not :/
@Cirra92 Don't waste your time, this is redmi note 5 (the cheap device) forum and i still remember that one user (hats off to him :good said the more cheaper is the device....the more ****tier is the community, that's very true.

Very true. I am coming from the true NOTE family having a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from yester years. Since they are extremely costly nowadays and I had to get a second device, I opted for this device seeing the immense popularity of Xiaomi. But the difference in forum standards is night and day. That's why I keep mostly mum and just silent visitor. But no doubt, the true developers are doing great job here too. Note 3 was crippled by exynos(not developer friendly). I think this is the case with most of the forums on Xda nowadays. New and new members join Xda just to get something. But very few have or know the etiquettes to behave or contribute to the great Xda community.
Working nice on miui 10 stable
And yes it has color pop as well as new live fovus feature to edit background blur amount...thnkz mate for update link

Not always, ido community was great!
I think popularity is the key issue, and sadly it's normal...
What seems strange to me is that there is a little if none moderation. Duplicated post like this should be merged and cleaned rapidly to educate new user and teach them.
(just my OT idea)
So anyone have any idea how to make the front Camera work on global version with latest release of Gcam?
@scricccettoni I was talking in general, on any forum there's a mess ofc, but it's extremely here with a few hilarious threads here and there!!
@MarvinMe And this is a great example of the mess that we're talking about
