Hey thanks a lot for this post, it could be very helpful for me but first of all i would need a twrp recovery for a huawei tablet.
And sorry for ask this here, but do you know any guide like yours to compile the twrp? I tried to do this many weeks ago with no luck as i don't found any clear guide and I'm quite noob to do such thing. It would be really helpful if you could do the same guide for compile a recovery.

[Tool] Extract your contacts from Kies's backup !

Hi,
I am sharing a tool I made for myself to extract contacts from a Kies backup. The reason why this tool is interesting is because when we flash custom roms on our device, we are not able anymore to sync with kies.
If you think I am interested in stealing your contacts or do not trust me, please do not bother replying to the thread. Otherwise, here it is : http://www.mediafire.com/?e9v9o28a29wusjw

Have you considered that maybe you haven't got any replies because people don't know what your tools does and is not explain?
Maybe you can give more details about it and what it does and what's the use of it and I'm sure you will get responses.

This seems interesting, but I don't know what I can do with the extracted sbu file. You need to explain this. And you shouldn't expect that many replies when your brand new to xda. I mean your bumping your thread every 5 hours. Explain what your program does and put it in the dev section and then people will use it. And replies do not matter at all. People are not obligated to reply to what you made. My theme has only like 5 replies but over 50 ish downloads. People don't also reply to threads that they look at

Hi m8,
This is EXACTLY what i was looking for!
I installed a custom rom to my phone and couldn't get it connected to Kies no matter what lol.
Reinstalled Kies, drivers etc etc lots of times today. I had my backup and thought Mmmmmmmmm surely you must be able to get the contacts out of it somehow.
Searched in google and it brought me back to XDA
many MANY thanks for this usefull tool bud.

Awesome, worked perfectly. thankyou!
Contacts extracted but there is no phone numbers.. Can we do anything abaut it?
I cannot thank you enough! I was updating my dad's GT-I5500, all went so smoothly, the rooting, the cwn recovery installation. I was loving the CyanogenMod until I realised he hadn't been syncing his contacts to Gmail! Disaster! I was sweating and couldn't think straight. Until I realised I had backed up his contact list via Kies! A quick search on Google brought me here. You, sir, are a life saver! I cannot thank you enough! What. A. Tool!!!!!
Hey I want to thank you for this program! It saved me after I flashed my Galaxy S2 with a new ROM and Kies wouldn't connect anymore. :good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good:

It makes more sense to work on Cm based roms, because all the code is availible. HTC on the other hand hide their framework and drivers code, that is essential to port newer versions of sense to our phone. Which makes it nearly impossible to do it.

First we have to port CM on our Phone.
It will bring us all the drivers to let it boot.
After that, with all basics and stuff we can port Senny and Ubuntu ^^
We just have to learn which kernel and boot images we have to write and what exactly we have to port/compile/write.
Let's make a list what we have to do ^^
I am starting with:
1. Kernel
2. recovery (cwm)
Btw I am writing a list on paper. So tell me every time if you want to see it ^^

/Edit: I got it now. I am stupid...
There is no difference in kernel and boot.img
Kernel, the heart of the OS, is the boot.img itself.
It brings the OS bootable and connects Hardware with System. (I think it's the right explanation of it..)
Thanks xpirt!
xQubee5o3 said:
I don't know how to explain it, but I will try it.
The kernel is called "the heart of your OS". It brings your OS usable.
The boot image is the image to get your OS bootable.
You have to write the image from ROM to ROM, from OS to OS again and again. (there must be any difference.)
Kernel -> Heart of OS
Boot.img -> To bring the OS booted.

Mmmm interesting.. if you have this idea of the difference between boot.img and kernel I think you can leave this project for now.
Let me explain you that there is no difference between them and you can edit your post leaving only one of them.
boot.img = ramdisk + zImage (compiled kernel source)
Well I hope that this explanation can be just an input to learn seriously development if you want to continue this project and have some results.
With that i don't want to spam the thread, so.. good luck!

[Q] [NEEDS HELP] Creating ROM for Ace Plus

Hello.
Right now as I am typing this message, the source files for Cyanogenmod 11.0 are being synced to my computer, and I am trying to make a build for our device. I have a few questions though that would affect my development:
1) On a guide I was reading (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060017), it says "MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS ON OFFICIAL LATEST CYANOGENMOD ROM". But trebon isn't officially supported. Would it still work if I put in trebon, or do I need to do other steps?
2) Do I have to code something after downloading the Android sources, or do I just have to build it instantly?
Any help on these would be greatly appreciated. I'm willing to create a ROM for our device if I can get the help I need, since I have nothing better to do anyway.
Thanks!

2) What's the minimum RAM requirement for Cyanogenmod? If OmniROM or AOKP is lighter, I would switch sources.

Any help on these would be greatly appreciated. I'm willing to create a ROM for our device if I can get the help I need, since I have nothing better to do anyway.

EDIT: After doing some research, I switched to AOKP instead of Cyanogenmod 11 because it is lighter. Apparently, according to the Cyanogenmod 11 Google+ post, they require a minimum of 512MB RAM, which our phone does not have. Syncing right now is AOKP source code. If some people would like to help me make a build, I would appreciate it if you would answer the questions above.

To anyone who wonders, I got some help from @streambinder and right now I just finished downloading the Cyanogenmod 11 sources. I'll be whipping up a new build within the week and would love to have other users test it out for me (if I ever get to finish it). I've been using TheWhisp's sources for Cyanogenmod 11 for Galaxy Mini and when the ROM I built goes live, I'll be sure to upload it here and give him credits for his sources.
I need a little help here, possibly from @giugiu19 @smartandroidtech @streambinder

It's finals week in the university, so I'm putting it on hold. On Friday I will resume development. I have a logcat ready here and I'm studying it to figure out the problem. I'm 99% sure this is a problem with the kernel, probably a broken module.
If anyone's interested, I have a working copy of the ROM, but WiFi and Camera doesn't work yet. If you want I can upload the ROM. I'm doing a project for school right now. After I finish (in about 1 more hour), I'll upload some screenshots of my ROM.

Hi haky
I have some problems, not only with your ROMs but with all cm12 based ROMs. The problem is that the music player after the secon reboot crashes and duplicates songs. Another problem is in the gallery, where there are some black photos that are not visualized in the File Manager. I did all wipes (system/data/cache/dalvik cache), do you have a solution? Sorry if I did some mistakes but I'm Italian like you and I can't speak our language because everyone has to be able to understand.

Installation Guide of i9105:
Quote:
Take same rom.
extract updater-script in meta-inf and rename all s2vep to s2ve.
remove old updater-script and replace edited one.
Can somebody help me with a short story about how to do it, or a link for a little tutorial. I'm not regular install rooms like that.
So can somebody help me with a kind of advice?

Try to Google your device model and seeing if there is a CyanogenMod for your device or any custom ROM for your device. Then you can flash it via adb or fastboot, but first notify me, so I know which tutorial to write
Sent from Lenovo a6000 1GB version.
I haven't found any CyanogenMod ! tnks

I don't know how keen you are on programming, but you could try to make your own port of CyanogenMod.

Do you have any tutorial?
At the moment I don't. But you can google it or search the XDA for it... There is a lot of tutorials on XDA I think I used them
I can try to fiddle around with the ROM you sent. Even tho I won't be able to test the ROM...

Tried few things... Gonna continue on saturday... Ok?
Can you please send me the "build.prop" file from your tablet? you can use "adb pull /system/build.prop" if you have adb set up.
EDIT: Ok so I found, that rom building without physical device is gonna be near to impossible. I'm sorry and I wish you more luck if you're gonna continue working on it (https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro). My sincere apologies
