Restoring DRM keys? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I rooted my Z5 with unlocking bootloader and forgot to backup DRM keys. However, I found THIS (go to zip in OP) that can apparently restore them even if you didn't back them up with a simple flash. Will it work? Or have I lost the DRM keys forvever? I am on Android 6.0.

Your own drm keys are lost forever,
but with this zip you can simulate the drm keys.
Yes, it will work

Thanks! I'll try tomorrow! I was worried I would brick my device.

Oh and would it work on custom ROM's?
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

most stock based custom roms have custom kernel with drm fix
if you want to use a custom kernel like [KERNEL][E6653] AndroPlusKernel v34 the patch is inbuilt.

why do you need to relock your bootloader if your flashing back to stock rooted?
Yea if you flash a stock image, your bootloader will be flashed as well, and be back to the stock secure aboot.

only for VRLAHD....all other stock odin images are not packaged with the stock aboot.img...so you need to manually lock the bootloader.

What he said. But why would you want to go back to stock rooted and go thru the extra effort of changing the recovery and locking the bootloader? Usually you only need to do that if you're trying to hide it from Verizon but being rooted they can still tell...

Noted, thanks for clarifying.
Thanks for the responses, I restored my stock rooted nandroid, was just wondering about the relocking the bootloader in case of an update (didn't feel like losing data with Odin).

[Q] Sony Xperia L Nandroid Backup

Hey there everyone D: so yeah I just got this phone a few months ago and I have it partially rooted(note that it's not fully rooted) and I've been seeing this a lot everywhere in many android forums, the "Nandroid Backup"
and It seems this is a really good thing to go for incase I mess up with the system files
So the questions are
1) How do I install this?
2) What will I need, and will it work on a partially rooted phone? (doesn't have full root access)
3) Incase I mess up with the system files will I be able to recover my rom?
I'm only asking this cause I wanna try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240180 very bad and I'm afraid incase I mess up

Nandroid is a feature only available in Custom recoveries like clockworkmod. In order to install custom recovery, you will have to unlock your bootloader. Then, you have to use flashtool to flash Vengence Kernel via fastboot mode. This kernel comes with a custom recovery. To boot into your recovery once you installed the kernel, press volume down at the Sony logo when the led light comes on.

Flashing .ftf doesnt lock your bootloader. AFAIK, you can always lock you bootloader even you didnt backup your TA before unlock it.
But even you lock you bootloader, OTA update will brick your device and break some functionality like download music info or Bravia Engine (for device that have BE I mean) because you have lost TA forever. Locking you phone back just in case you want your warranty back.
And yep, this thread should be in Q&A section.

Keep your battery out for 10 seconds. Put it back in. Hold volume down while connecting your phone to the computer.

Sorry for being rude, just woke up in bad mood...
The Safe way to root Z3 is to downgrade to KitKat, root it and use PRFCreator to make prerooted FW. You can find all the info here if you spend like 10 minutes of your life.

Why not just unlock the bootloader the official way, flash a custom recovery (Cyanogen, TWRP, etc.), and then flash SuperSU Update ZIP from there? It takes maybe 10 minutes, and apart from obtaining the unlocking code, it is pretty straightforward.

Because unlocking phone without having TA backup is irreversible process leading to loss of low light pictures quality and couple other DRM related issues. Downgrade to KitKat is safe way to keep your bootloader locked and possibility to backup TA.

AFAIK if you re-lock your bootloader then flash a stock FTF with FlashTool, TA is replaced with a working copy. I might be wrong though.

Problem of TA is that it is device specific, unique on each phone.

If you restore the TA yo get your DRM keys back.
You attach your phone to the PC and type that code in a command window in the same directory where you have the TA backup stored
thanks but i got this error
dd: /data/TAbackup.img: No such file or directory
i flash but now not boot , works with nougat and kernel AndroPlusKernel?
