Quick question, searched the threads but might have missed it.
I am restoring a nandroid of the stock rooted rom, coming from CM10/PA, once restored back to stock from my nandroid, can I re-lock the bootloader? or should I just odin back?
Thanks,
Forgot to add that I also flashed the stock recovery through ez recovery.

why do you need to relock your bootloader if your flashing back to stock rooted?
Yea if you flash a stock image, your bootloader will be flashed as well, and be back to the stock secure aboot.

What he said. But why would you want to go back to stock rooted and go thru the extra effort of changing the recovery and locking the bootloader? Usually you only need to do that if you're trying to hide it from Verizon but being rooted they can still tell...

Noted, thanks for clarifying.
Thanks for the responses, I restored my stock rooted nandroid, was just wondering about the relocking the bootloader in case of an update (didn't feel like losing data with Odin).

If I wanted to go back to my stock rom for warranty purposes, do I just download the original from samsung-update
Put the .zip into my SD card. And use CWM to install it?
Plus, if I put the original ROM back onto my phone, will the "Custom" bootloader appear or will it be normal?
And how would I get rid of CWM? Just delete recovery.img?
The file you'll download is going to be a file that you need to flash with Odin, once flash it puts everything back the way it was. No you won't get the custom when flashing back to stock since you'll be using an official signed rom. You should, however, might want to make sure you don't have a counter going for the number of unsigned rom flashes.

What's a counter?
Do I delete everything by with CWM and then use odin to flash my GS3?
Or do I just use odin over my custom rom?

Prior to using odin to flash the stock image, be sure to use EZ-Recovery for VZW Galaxy S3 to flash the stock recovery.

I had a kexec recovery installed and flashed back to stock a couple nights ago and completely lost recovery. Luckily it booted into the rom and I was planning to re-root anyway using the simple root to make sure I didn't have any Sprint stuff like the initial root method.
I discovered a scratch on my screen and need to get this replaced. Right now I'm on Verizon running Android open Kang project jb with an unlocked bootloader.
I want to return my phone to barebones stock do i just flash the stock zip in odin and the bootloader and I would be good to go?
Also if I get this replacement in there different baseband version does this not allow me to Install aokp or other roms

Yes, just Odin stock G1 or F2 image, the do a factory reset, clear all data cache, you should be fine. Your replacement should be a G1 version and you can install any rom over it.

We did, but I actually went thru the process and it doesn't lock the bootloader using Odin.
And if for any reason your bootloader STILL isn't re-locked, you can simply use EZ-Unlock (the app) to do so.

Refer to our discussion in this thread.
Okay, so I recently noticed that there was an icon that said "Custom" and it was an unlocked lock on my start up. And, when I try to do an OTA update, it fails. I even flashed the stock recovery. And, when I try to install custom ROM's, it says something like "Error 7, installation aborted."

Well i'm almost 100% sure that all roms now require an unlocked bootloader, so by unlocking it and flashing a custom recovery you should be able to flash roms and it'll make the custom icon go away as well.

that would be safe general rule now, do all your backing up, flashing, etc, by manually booting into recovery first, that's the only sure fire way to make sure it gets flashed on okay. I don't even keep rom manager on my phone anymore and i used to use it religiously on previous phones.

Unlocking the boot loader should kill it.
I installed a recovery before unlocking the bootloader... Is it possible to temporarily bypass the message so I can get my files? If not, will using Odin to flash the stock firmware delete any personal files/files made by Titanium backup?

Boot into download mode, and hit volume down instead of up to boot into your stock rom.
Are you on 4.1 or 4.3? If you don't know post what it says in download mode. There's an easy fix if you're on 4.1.

You can't unlock the bootloader, and there's really no way for you to pull the files either unless you use adb to pull files from specific locations.
Your only real fix is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586319
Then read all of this so you don't flash anything that will brick your phone again:

Be careful with downloading xposed modules for the wrong Galaxy s3 version. When I used google to search for the very specific VZW s3 version of an app it through a thread at me for the wrong version (it was for sprint's s3 I think) and I nearly bricked my phone. It wouldn't let me unlock it. The touch screen just wasn't working and when I turned the screen off the whole phone kept rebooting. Luckily I was able to use odin to fix it.
Good luck!
I have tried odin (PC and Mobile), flashify and looked up various other ways but whenever i try to install a clockwork mod i just get a yellow triangle saying i have to bring my phone to verizon. I know the work around is just putting your phone in download mode then hitting cancel but then when i boot into recovery its just the default android recovery, Why cant i get into cwm! please help?!?!?!
