Hi all,
I tested the Android 7 Beta for a couple of weeks on one of my testing devices. One of my favorite new features is the new and improved Quick Settings screen and especially the possibility to add a custom tile.
Eventually I hacked together a little app to add some additional features and fire multiple activities from a custom Quick Settings tile just for my personal use .... after using this app for some time, I realized that this might be interessting for other users, too. So I put some more time and effort into this and developed a full-fledged app to improve the Quick Settings .... and here it is:

It´s a full-fledged app, so it contains an in-app purchase to remove Ads and an activity count limit ... However, I do have some Promo codes for the app, so just pm me and I will send you one (while supplies last).
Feedback welcome!

This looks quite interesting and when I upgrade to Nougat, I'd like to give it a go. Can you set names on the tiles in the quick settings menu and have more than one?

Hi,
"Set tile names" and "more than one tile" is not supported in this initial release ... but I have already both features on my feature request list .... names should be possible to implement and I have one or two ideas how to implement multiple tiles (but didn´t have a deeper look at it,yet) .... So, just post your feedback, additional feature requests and new ideas and I will have a look at it and sort out what is possible and makes sense for me :good:
btw. I think the official Nougat release is just a couple of days away ...

Sounds good. It's out tomorrow so as soon as i'm upgraded, i'll install it.
Update 0.8.1_BETA
Just released a little maintenance update:
- Added a QuickTile setting to close the quick settings screen after firing the activities --> so you can choose which behavior makes more sense to you ...
- Fixed an issue with the external plugin activity ---> btw. a really cool and powerful activity: you can trigger Locale/Tasker compatible automation plugins with this activity
- some minor improvements and fixes
Just saw this thread and tried it out. Great app. I'm glad someone is taking advantage of those quick settings that Google gave us. I'll be playing around with this app more and let you know if there are any bugs or anything. Thanks.
Works great so far. Only things that are missing so far are what you have already on your list

It´s probably not your country, but your android version. Android 7+ is required and it´s not backward compatible.

Ah Ok, I assumed your signature would contain your current device (Samsung Relay 4G SGH-T699 ROM: CyanogenMod 10.2).
However, I do not post any APK. It´s part of my user security/ privacy policy .... so. let me explain it:
I develop apps and release them for a couple of years now and my most popular app ReTag has 500.000+ downloads .... I never released an APK for ReTag, but if you search the web for an ReTag APK you could find a lot APK´s ... some are ok, but most of them (>90%) are hacked... I have seen all kinds of hacks, from different translations, to aggressive ads, to nasty virus infected APKs. As a developer you can not prevent APKs popping up, but you can warn your users and make it crystal clear that there is only one reliable source for the app and that is Google Play. Google Play introduced also a couple of new security checks and security policies over the years, so users should be safe and you can even handle BETA downloads on Google Play now.
I know that there are reasons for releasing an APK and that this sometimes makes sense for a small group of users, but from my point of view, it makes more sense to protect the majority of users. I'm sure you know how to get the app without me releasing an APK, so again, I'm sorry, but I do not post any APK.

Smart Phone makes your smartphone even smarter.
Smart Phone changes the phones settings based on conditions like Location, Time, Battery, SMS text (coming soon Car & Home Dock)
https://market.android.com/details?id=at.bartinger.smartphonelite&feature=search_result
With Smart Phone, you dont have to worry about changing your preferences at any time. Just set up profiles for the locations you spend much time at. For example home, work, school, park, etc… You can easily extend the battery life by by configuring a ‘low battery’ profile where you deactivate everything or by making a “Night mode” profile which turns off Wi-Fi, mobile data and dims the screen while you're asleep. You see, Smart Phone is useful in many situations.
Go ahead and give it a try ratings and comments are very appreciated and you also would make the developer happy if you press the "Submit to Portal" to spread the word and rate this thread in the upper right Thanks for the support

Smart Phone isn´t just a background service that constantly checks if the conditions apply. Nearly all conditions are handled by features of Android. Smart Phone is using these features, so they don’t need to run in the background and won’t drain your battery.
Looks interesting, I tried to download it, but although the market description says: Works on all phones and tablets., its not compatible with my galaxy tab 10.1
I already know this issue. It's because the app requires telephony. The next version will fix this and then it will be available to all devices.
But thanks for the hint
for an app that claims to be better than Tasker it seems to be quite limited
What is the difference between the free and paid?
edit: Never mind me, it tells you what you get with the paid version when you install the free...
edit: (again) I think it would be better to allow 2 profiles for the lite version so we can see how well it toggles between multiple profiles. Having one is a little limiting personally.
All in all, nice from what I see. I'll play with it more.

"like xxxxx just better" - is generally a bad practice.
You should pay more attention in what you write, especially when thousands of tasker users may have a different opinion. You know, it does not matter what your app will be but just what your app is.
Apart from that, i like it, clear and user friendly, i'll stay tuned.
Subscribed. Best of luck dev!
P.S I like the icon.
the only reason it's more user-friendly is because it offers a lot less features and can thus arrange the few features it has in a more clearly arranged way.
come back when you support the features Tasker does, then we'll talk

For some reason I can't download your application from the market. There is simply no download button.
I'm in the United States with a Motorola Atrix on 2.3.4.
If you could post the Lite version apk I can use Titanium to link it to the market.

Pressing the notification will start a specified action, for example start your text messaging app, email app or dial a phone number directly. Obviously I will be adding further actions and functionality as time progresses. Any suggestions? Let me know.

I have just uploaded the latest APK to the Play Store just before writing the post, it'll take a little time to appear but it will be there.
I've just checked and the Play Store has just updated with latest description, screenshots and APK. Also if anyone wants to submit bugs if they use the app and find anything then either just reply or submit here: https://bitbucket.org/roryrjb/pinnote/issues.
Again sorry no actual link because I'm below 10 posts.
I've added a few more options:
- Persistent Notification (have to clear from app, won't swipe to clear)
- Timer Notification (will count for as long as notification is active, to see how long it has been there)
- LED Notification (if your device supports it, the LED will flash every 5 seconds for as long as the notification is active)
I've also tweaked the notification layout slightly and a ticker also appears as well.
Version update:
Version 0.3.1.1 (Alpha)
- Fixed Intents.
- Added Contacts Selector.
Please find new APK attached to the first post. Play Store updating as I type.
I downloaded the latest copy for testing >>> had a parsing error pop up when I went to install it.
is that just me or what? BTW this application looks promising. Has great potential and I want to help you out
I can create a new icon or re-design the one you currently have to make it more professional or I can do a new UI design for you? Just let me know I love helping others out!

It's been a little while but I have updated. Notifications can be customised and then set to appear at set times. The free version (a Pro version will come along eventually) is limited to 4 reminders at a time. Whilst I have now classed this as Beta there still may be issues or bugs. As always any bug reporting or feedback is welcome.

I'm thinking about a way to add custom kernel tweaks for a long time without just implementing it directly in the app and so removing a potential income for kernel developers.
Tracking down this problem is the number one priority on my to do list.

Some developers are creating own apps to control these parameters. I was working on kernels too (way back in the htc desire and a bit in the Optimus 2x/G2x time) and instead of asking for donation, some developed a app to control these settings. These could buy you a drink for the work and the supporter got a nice app in return.
Implementing it for free would subvert a income for a developer. Ok some devs creating an app for free and don't take donations too. But others not and I don't want to piss anybody off. So I'm thinking about a extremely easy to programm plugin interface (think of it as DashClock extensions). I'm not sure how good it will be possible nor if it's possible at all, but I will work on it and I hope I will find a way.
(Plus it saves me a lot of nerves. Implementing this stuff and testing it on every device with min and max values, possible steps etc. I would call this a pretty severe pita.)
Update 4:
Fixed threading issues
fixed some more force closes
fixed the spinner issue (setting a item without a change by the user)
DashClock extension
Have fun

Some developers are creating own apps to control these parameters. I was working on kernels too (way back in the htc desire and a bit in the Optimus 2x/G2x time) and instead of asking for donation, some developed a app to control these settings. These could buy you a drink for the work and the supporter got a nice app in return.
Implementing it for free would subvert a income for a developer. Ok some devs creating an app for free and don't take donations too. But others not and I don't want to piss anybody off. Im still not getting it. Apps like stweaks and extweaks do exactly what i am talking and are avilable for free in the app store and i dont see any kernel devloper being angry. Also there is no need to implement steps and values since they are all contained in the kernel itself (perhaps in xml format or something close)
dam i just downlaoded and installed build 3!!! :L will update now :L

Nope. Everything ist hard coded in the apps. Like which values are possible, what is the safe range of a parameter (vibration strength could kill your vibration motor up if bad programmed). There are a huge number of custom parameters in every custom kernel. I could only support selected interfaces on selected devices like trickster mod. I don't want to do this. This is plain pita and I would neglect a huge device base.
Instead I will create a extension which other developers can use and add the parameters with save values etc. This is imo way better than to hardcode everything in one app.

The dev implemented a the voltage interface in an uncommon way. I will add some additional checks to ensure it will run in these conditions.

This is an app for power users that miss the old good Taskbar, ALT-TAB shortcut, WIN+[n] shortcut or workspaces on their Android devices. PinTasking allows you to create floating shortcuts in form of pins, on demand and based on their current task and workload.
Features:
pin apps/tasks/documents to access them quickly from any screen and app
jump quickly to your most recent task
or your whole tasks history
doesn't restart your tasks under Lollipop like similar apps
[ROOT] Disable the app-switch-delay
extremely customizable
smooth & cool animations
Material design
integrate your browser in PinTasking to:
easily pin your browser whenever you open a link
collect / preload links without to leave an application
quickly share or open links in another app
works with nearly all browsers

It's possible with some limitations:
- no preloading / preopening (Quick opener mode) of webpages
- a click on Evernote, Google Docs and etc. will bring you to the latest document or screen of this app and maybe not to the document you actually pinned
- a few apps may reinitialize and lose text in input fields, scroll progress and etc. after switching to them
I'll implement a non-root mode if there're enough interested people that are okay with this limitations.
btw:
PinTasking is live on the Play Store:
wow, you added even more options!
nice update

Okay, I'll implement a non-root mode before or after the full release. May I ask you why folks with a rooted phone (?!) want it? I wonder if it's for security reasons? You can install the system helper by yourself with a root file explorer. Even system apps need a confirmation to gain root and the helper app declares only two additional permissions and shares them with PinTasking.
I am rooted but their are plenty of people who arent.
My phone is rooted, running plenty of rooted apps, and it says I am not and asks to install the helper or uninstall. Do I have to install the helper? I am on Android 5.1.1 HTC One M8.

This could help you:
1. Make sure that you haven't accidentally denied the root pop-up.
2. Restart the app and try it again.
3. It takes a while on Cyanogenmod to show up the root dialog. Tap "verify root" and wait 2-8 seconds.
I experienced the same bug once but I couldn't reproduce it and a simple application restart solved it for me. I'll look into it again.
Anyway, thanks for reporting.

hi ,
Your app PinTasking looks very interesting and practical .Thanks !
One issue i am trying to understand ................
I have Note 4 ( N910F ) rooted and on Lollipop 5.0.1
i installed your app from Play store, granted root access etc .
But i found app a bit confusing at first ( functions ..how to use etc ).
i uninstalled app ,as i wanted to see your video and then decide.
After watching video ,i was happy i understood functions better and reinstalled from Play store .
This time app was installed ,without asking again for root ( as in 1 st time when i installed )
It is working fine ,tested it rebooted etc ,but PinTasking does not show up in Superuser..?
However ,whilst typing above ,i had idea and went to PinTasking /Root helper installer and reinstalled
helper then was ask for root access etc ,( even though it was never uninstalled ,as i could see it in Titanuim )
and activated it ,and now app shows up in Superuser .
I have solved my issue ,but want to bring it to your attention.
Very impressed so far with apps.........practical /functional uses !
good luck

FAQ ? WIP
Looks phenomenal mate!
I have yet to put any time in the app beyond the initial few minutes to check it out but I am confused about few things:
1) I see duplicates of app on all screens. See attached pics.
Might have something to do with the fact that I have selected all the repos?
2) Sync log - What exactly does that mean that the following failed: 06, 12, 22, 23? They are always failing. Tried to sync from multiple networks.
Is there an retry attempt happening? Where can I find the reason for failure?
3) Any way to make the sync notification to show progress like how it is happening for F-Droid now + Can we make it go away after sync has finished?
4) Suggestion: Make it possible to see somewhere from what repo the app is displayed.
Thanks for the hard work.
Suggestion:
Add "Pull down to refresh / sync", so that we no need to sync everytime by going into the setting.
I think I love you... The Fdroid app is ass, and the alternative apps aren't much better.
Works great so far. Only thing, it would be nice if you could copy/paste a repos info.
Most of them have the url and fingerprint together. The F-droid app works that way.
Thanks and keep up the fantastic work.
In upcoming updates will be disponible to login with the google account with 2fa?

There is an option to do so, go to repolist & at the bottom click on 'Add Repository' you can either add repos manually or scan Qr to add.
You can also share repos, long press on repolist its to view info and share option.
Will write FAQs with such details soon.

I'm not sure why you would require logins in Aurora Droid.
And in case you are asking about Aurora Store, you can login with 2FA enabled account, you just need to generate app passwords and use the generated password to login.

Thank you, I appritiate your time.
I want to share 2 of my latest findings with you:
1) Search results do not display all of the possible results - I was searching for a specific manga app that I downloaded from F-Droid but I couldn't find it via Aurora Droid.
From what I can see it is because you do not search within the app's description for matching keywords while f-droid does.
I've attached few pictures for reference.
2) Icon loading times when browsing / searching are extremely high - Sometimes they will not be loaded at all.
Entering the apps displays the icon instantly.
:good:
Amazing app! Can I disable the view of apps from Google Play? I want find only from F-Droid ones.
Great app, more like what F-droid *should* be.
Couple of things tho:
>>When sorting by 'Date' it's from oldest to newest—lots of scrolling to see newest entries in categories.
>>Some app showing 'Incompatible App' even though they are not. Able to d/l and install from F-droid, but blocked from doing so in Aurora Droid.
Love this thing, keep up the good work. And, Thanks!

Search function is still not up to par with official client.
Dunno what the reason this time. Attaching pics with the search term of "manga".
Thanks again for the app, it's a very cool one
Refreshing applications lists oesn't seems to update the repo applications.
So, in order for a application update to appear in the update section, you need to manually resync the repos. Well, It's he case atleast for me, would maybe be better to replace what the refresh action to directly resync the repos if it doen't already do that.
Issues aside, Aurora droid is as good as Aurora Store, very happy by both overall applications, and really appreciate its design (which has support for AMOLED screen which is a plus for me)
