Smart Phone makes your smartphone even smarter.
Smart Phone changes the phones settings based on conditions like Location, Time, Battery, SMS text (coming soon Car & Home Dock)
https://market.android.com/details?id=at.bartinger.smartphonelite&feature=search_result
With Smart Phone, you dont have to worry about changing your preferences at any time. Just set up profiles for the locations you spend much time at. For example home, work, school, park, etc… You can easily extend the battery life by by configuring a ‘low battery’ profile where you deactivate everything or by making a “Night mode” profile which turns off Wi-Fi, mobile data and dims the screen while you're asleep. You see, Smart Phone is useful in many situations.
Go ahead and give it a try ratings and comments are very appreciated and you also would make the developer happy if you press the "Submit to Portal" to spread the word and rate this thread in the upper right Thanks for the support

Smart Phone isn´t just a background service that constantly checks if the conditions apply. Nearly all conditions are handled by features of Android. Smart Phone is using these features, so they don’t need to run in the background and won’t drain your battery.
Looks interesting, I tried to download it, but although the market description says: Works on all phones and tablets., its not compatible with my galaxy tab 10.1
I already know this issue. It's because the app requires telephony. The next version will fix this and then it will be available to all devices.
But thanks for the hint
for an app that claims to be better than Tasker it seems to be quite limited
What is the difference between the free and paid?
edit: Never mind me, it tells you what you get with the paid version when you install the free...
edit: (again) I think it would be better to allow 2 profiles for the lite version so we can see how well it toggles between multiple profiles. Having one is a little limiting personally.
All in all, nice from what I see. I'll play with it more.

The next update of the Lite version will allow 3 profiles and will include a new condition.
I'll try to roll out the update tomorrow!

I think it's much more user friendly and because Smart Phone is in it's early phases there are many features which will get included in the future.

"like xxxxx just better" - is generally a bad practice.
You should pay more attention in what you write, especially when thousands of tasker users may have a different opinion. You know, it does not matter what your app will be but just what your app is.
Apart from that, i like it, clear and user friendly, i'll stay tuned.
Subscribed. Best of luck dev!
P.S I like the icon.
the only reason it's more user-friendly is because it offers a lot less features and can thus arrange the few features it has in a more clearly arranged way.
come back when you support the features Tasker does, then we'll talk
Version 1.2 is published in the Android market

For some reason I can't download your application from the market. There is simply no download button.
I'm in the United States with a Motorola Atrix on 2.3.4.
If you could post the Lite version apk I can use Titanium to link it to the market.

Meanwhile I attached the latest Lite version for you.

I'm pleased to announce the release of the Advanced Map Live Wallpaper, which allows you to show your position on a variety of maps on the homescreen.
Features:
* Wide selection of maps (Ordnance Survey, Google, Satellite, Terrain, Bing, OpenStreetMap, USA VFR and IFR charts...)
* Battery friendly - it uses network locations and shuts down whenever the homescreen isn't visible.
* Data friendly - aggressive caching means that you should only need to download a map tile once.
* Variable zoom on all maps
* Accuracy circle (can be switched off)
It's partly based on my original OS Map application, and draws on code from the open-sourced Rmaps2 and the AndNav library. Consequently, this application is also open-source, with the source available as soon as I've figured out how to use the Google Code repository (or you have have it as a ZIP file by email).
Notes:
This is a BETA release. I'd appreciate it if you could post any problems in this thread instead of leaving a low rating on the app. Ordnance Survey maps won't work outside the UK.
Right now, if you turn GPS on, you may need to select another wallpaper before it'll turn off again. You might also need to turn "Refresh Position" on in the settings page, which will be fixed in the next update.
Finally, I apologise to whoever's house is in the screenshots since I picked a location at random!

Update (14/06/10):
New version (0.9.3) uploaded. Minor cache fixed, force-close issue *hopefully* fixed, some general tidying up in the source. If it force-closes for you, try clearing the application data. Alternatively, enter the settings page, choose a different map type, and it should work. You can change the map type again after that. Hopefully resolved now I've remembered to close the database... ;-)
For those who can't find it, it's available to download here. You'll have to check for updates manually, I'm afraid, and if you keep an eye on the Market it should turn up eventually.
Update (16/06/10):
New version (0.9.4) uploaded. Fixes include landscape support and the really irritating bug where it would forget to load map tiles should now be gone.
Get it here (if you can find it on the Market, I strongly recommend downloading it from there instead):
http://maps.androidgamer.org/wallpaper/release/Advanced_Map_201006161712.apk
Update (5/07/10):
Version 0.9.5 uploaded to Market. Only major change is the addition of the Hike and Bike map as requested by a user. It should show up as an update on Froyo.
Also discovered the reason why it's not showing in the Market for Droid users - turns out that they don't respect the "Live Wallpaper" filter and won't show apps with that enabled in the Manifest.
Out of curiosity, is anyone still encountering problems with either the wallpaper itself, or finding it in the Market?
Update (4/08/10):
Version 1.0 uploaded to the Market. Major changes include the addition of Google Traffic and smooth scrolling between home-screens. (I hope you appreciate that, it took AGES to implement...) ;-)
There's an issue with force-closing on some phones which I haven't been able to resolve - no one has replied to my request to run Log Collector, and without a log I can't fix the problem. The Android Market is supposed to show crash reports, but doesn't.
Donations:
I've never been keen on asking for money, but there is a "donate" version to the Market. It's identical to the current release (which will always remain free) but it would be great to get a bit of reward for the hard work that goes into writing a Live Wallpaper.
It's only £1 and donations provide an excellent motivation for bug fixes and new feature requests. If you have the normal version, you'll find a donate link in the settings page.
Looks good, gonna try it out.
awesome
hmm interesting will try it for sure!
Even with the battery saving features, I can't imagine this not being a battery hog...
Wow, this is awesome. Thanks!
It would be really cool if we could get an overlay like: greenchairpress .com/blog/?p=1392 working. It's cool having maps, but it's not something I see myself using day to day. If there was a map alternative that was a bit more stylized that would be rad.
looks good. Just installed it. will let you know.
Not showing up on the market for me
alexland - is it possible to browse Bing Maps in that style, or does the Microsoft server have to render each mini-map on request? If it's possible to just get the tiles, in theory it should be possible to have it on the homescreen.

Me either. Bummer.
The accuracy circle bothered me on the other map wallpaper, thanks for letting us disable it. Are there plans to enable panning, or was that left out in favor of battery life?
Sick man. Thanks
Can't find it on the market either.
German Milestone from O² here...
Also, could you maybe add VFR/IFR maps for Europe in the future? Since I'm in aviation this would definately make it a wallpaper to keep =P
Thx in advance and before even having tried it,
Stefan

found on market, thanks... will give a try!
Clearly something is up, there are lots of us unable to find it in the market. I learned about this app on an Android site and the one and only comment to the article was someone saying that they could not locate it either.
This looks like a great app, but I can't find it in the market either when I scan the QR code.
I have a Sprint hero on 2.1
ok, so, i think this only shows up on froyo. I was running cyanogen 5.0.7 (2.1) on my nexus one and it wasn't showing up. Then I restored to a nandroid of froyo (2.2) I had and searched for it, and sure enough it showed up, also, the screenshots in the thread are froyo, or at least look like it, so that also leads me to the conclusion its froyo market only

How does the notification system work? Does the app run in the background downloading data continuously and notify you at the end of 5 overs/fall of wicket or does it use C2DM ? Just curious to know how much data it uses once you close the app!
As of Now, its pull notifications where Application background service pull data from server periodically. Currently data sent from server is very much optimised in gzip format, its around 0.5 Kb per request. Also data update rate can be configured by application user through settings.
As per my knowledge, C2DM is not available publically yet. It still under Goggle Labs. I have already requested for access. Yes, C2DM will great for push notifications where server pushing notifications to device about various events.
Thanks,
-- Sachin.
Dear Sachin,
Just uploaded your app... the notification option is absolutely fantastic I must say... its has really helped me get constant updates of scored as they come
Although, I was a little disappointed when I started looking at the reviews of other cricket apps out there... there is so many more features out there in an app than just notifications, commentary, etc now a days. one for example is the Cricket World Cup 2011 app by these guys at Apppli. They have actually done a very good job at it and the best thing about the app is the Twitter feature which lets me follow the specific cricketers I would like to hear out.
My question is...Is your app a beta version?? Coz I would really like to see better features in the future...

Thanks for the reply. Surely looks like a good app. Will try it out during the next Aus - Eng match!
AFAIK, C2DM is available to all developers but there is a process that needs to be followed to implement that in your apps, apart from the technical nuances like support only on Froyo and higher!
@ sijju
Yes, This release has very basic features. This release mainly focuses on asynchronous notifications/alerts with minimal data usage.
I also used Cricket World Cup application by Apppli. It includes very nice features but It has bit heavy data usage. Its ok as long as you have unlimited data plan.
Yes, I am planning to release full fledge application before world cup.
Thanks for Feedback.

Connectivity Manager
Connectivity Manager is a Wi-Fi and mobile data management tool.
I put this app on Android Market a few weeks ago and I thought I would share it here too, since I figured XDA users are more probable to use it than the general Android public.
Features:
- Monitor your Wi-Fi connection and disable it after a preset time if no network is connected, with a possibility to retry connection periodically.
- Schedule your connections; disable Wi-Fi or mobile data automatically during the periods you set.
- Enable or disable Wi-Fi and mobile data for a preset time.
- On/Off switches for both connection types are provided on the main screen of the application, for easy access.
(Mobile data functionality currently only works on devices with Android 2.3 and above, Wi-Fi works for older versions)
Changelog:
IMPORTANT: When updating to v4.0 or newer, times set in scheduler for earlier versions will not work anymore. Please use the new method.
12.06.01 v(4.0.1):
Fix for bug in scheduler which sometimes prevented disabling
12.05.21 (v4.0):
Scheduler has been completely remade:
Set as many disable periods as you like, on whichever weekdays you want
The option to show notification is now changed instantly when checked/unchecked
Vastly more reliable than before
The usual bug fixes
12.05.02 (v3.0.3):
Added Russian language (thanks to [email protected] for translating)

The application being incompatible with your Desire on Play Store is odd, have you set a custom LCD density? I have tried to make the application compatible with any density, but I have not succeeded so far.

I forget things quite easily so I have been using my phone for years to help me remember about certain tasks I need to do. I tried few applications but did not fall in love with any. They are often too complex and require too many steps to create a reminder / note.
Therefore I decided to make my own. I learned the basics of Android development and spent 2 months developing "Simplest Reminder". I was working on and off and only during my free time which was just a few hours a day at most.
Without further delay I present my first android application
It is available for free, with NO ads, in the Play Store:

UPDATE, May 22: I now have a donation version of my application in store. It is located here: Simplest Reminder (Donate)
If you like my application please consider buying the "donate version". Both apps have the same features so buying my app ($ 0.99) is just a way of saying Thank You for my hard work.
UPDATE, October 16 2013: Donate version has just became PRO version with new, exciting features based on user feedback. Simplicity has not been compromised but functionality has been greatly improved.
It is available at the same URL: Simplest Reminder Pro so that anybody who donated to me gets free upgrade. Thanks to the bunch of you who supported me with nice words and especially those who bought my app! I hope you all enjoy the new features
Here is a list of new features in the Pro version:
- Recurring reminders. Choose between daily, weekly, monthly, or annually
- Pop Up dialog. This can be disabled in Settings
- New, analog style Time and Date pickers inspired by Google Calendar's app
- Self-repeating reminders. Reminder will repeat itself every 10 minutes so you don't miss it. This can be disabled or interval can be changed in Settings
- LED light notifications. This can also be disabled in Settings
- Swipe notification away to delete reminder. This can also be disabled in Settings
- Swipe notification away to dismiss recurring reminder
- Help screen
- Improved user interface and performance
Pro screenshots:
UPDATE, October 17: APK for free version uploaded as per user request. This is for people who can't use Google Play for any reason.
UPDATE, October 18: Version 1.8 of the Simplest Reminder Free has been released. I refreshed the looks to be as nice as the look in the Pro version. I updated the screenshots in this thread.
UPDATE, Nov 12 2014: Version 2.1.1 of the Simplest Reminder Free has been released. I fixed bunched of things and added minor improvements such as ability to choose more sounds.
Pro version now has Pop Up dialog option.
UPDATE, Dec 2 2014: Version 2.6.2 of the Simplest Reminder Pro has been released. I added new, analog style Time and Date pickers inspired by Google Calendar's app. They make picking date and time much easier and they look great too! I attached new screenshots.

I love this app! :cyclops:
Thank You all for the support. In just one day the number of installations went from 6 to 24! Awesome.
I spent few hours recently trying to find a very frustrating bug in my application that was causing reminders not to go off under certain circumstances.
I found a potential issue, fixed it and pushed updated version 1.2 to the Google Play yesterday.
I really hope that it will permanently fix it! However, if for any reason a reminder doesn't go off for you it would be very helpful if you could provide some details here or PM me (version 1.2 and up only).
Thanks!
EDIT: Just pushed version 1.3 to the market because there still was a bug. Third time a charm... Hope it is gone for good!
Today I pushed 2 updates to the market.
Version 1.4 is meant to put an end to the mysterious bug causing reminders not to go off (I am 100% confident I nailed it this time and it turns out it was not even a bug but rather a missing feature, lol - simply put, the alarms were not set after phone reboot [Android OS removes all alarms on phone reboot])
Version 1.5 introduces new option in the settings panel - now you can decide if screen should be turned on when reminder goes off.
Thanks for sharing your work!
A nice feature would be, if we can decide Yes/no Notification Sound per reminder.
So one is with notification sound as set up in settings, one without because of not beeing so important.

While this is a nice feature, I don't think I will be implementing anything that would add complexity or increase number of taps required to create a reminder. The main goal of my application is being the simplest to use out of all reminder applications in the market.
There are many great applications in the market that have all that complexity and extra features including colors, note priority, sound per reminder, vibration per reminder, repeatable reminders etc. The reason why I don't use those apps is because setting up a reminder takes a minute or so.
I realize that limiting the number of features in my app may turn some users away but at the same time I am confident that it will be appealing to users who expect mobile apps to be simple and intuitive to use.
With all that being said, I really appreciate your feedback and please keep it coming. I may actually build another application based on Simplest Reminder that would have whole bunch of additional features.
Will give it a try! Teamed up with NotifyMe or such, could be very useful indeed.
Nice app, but how hard would it be to add some sort of calender view when picking a date?
So instead of scrolling, you just tap the date/day.
Would that make the app more complex?
can I get an .apk? I don't always have an active internet connection.
Great app, but I'm afraid that U.S. date format does my head in...
looks great!
going to try this on my s 3 i9300 with Paranoid Android 3.00 )
Awesome, just awesome and it looks beautfiul!
Thank you so much!
Latest Version: v4.0
New: Added iOS14 like access dots for camera and microphone usage.
***Working on support for lower android version devices too. Coming soon***
Now supports iOS14 like access dots too!!
Tired of apps which use GPS, switch on WiFi scanning and drain battery without notice. Toggle Track will notify you if WiFi scanning is switched ON by any app. Now you never need to check if WiFi scanning/ GPS is on, to save your phone's battery life.
I have built this app for the soul purpose to eliminate the annoying battery drain due to WiFi Scanning and GPS, which cannot be known without actually opening the sub menu in location settings. I find it helpful in saving battery. Hope you do too.
No root required.
Features
+ Access dots for camera and microphone added in v4.0
+ Track which apps used GPS. (Coming soon)
+ Free app.
+ Prevent battery drain.
+ Notifies when user left GPS on.
+ Notifies when WiFi scanning is ON.
+ Stats via pie chart, pull down to refresh the chart.
+ Persistent notifications settings also available.
+ Supports phones and Tablets.
+ Oreo v8.0+ supported.
How to use
+ Install/Update the app.
+ Grant permissions if asked.
+ For users running android 6.0+, disable battery optimization.
+ Customize your notification requirement in app settings.
+ You're good to go. Enjoy!

Hi,
Thanks for your app
Il let my phone live a bit too see what it says.
Can it tell which app is (or was) triggering the GPS?
Some feedback
1. Please use a background service instead of the process.
2. Please have the option to display the data as a grid instead of a chart. The counts are not readable.
3. Is it possible to know which app requested for that location?
4. I have battery optimisation disabled for the app. I opened Maps and started navigation, but still didn't get the notification. I was expecting it to alert me instantly.

Thanks for the feedback.
1. Service is not required in this case. There's no process running also after few seconds on exit. But it seems your point (4) helped me find a major bug, which is fixed now.
2. In future yes.
3. Yes. Root access might be required.
4. Update to 2.5.5 and let me know your feedback.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Glad you liked it.
It already exists in location settings in every phone. To get it into app, root might be required. But its possible.
Will look into it i future updates.
