So this morning I go to plug the usb from my computer into my phone, its a I-Orange E cable, I saw a puff a smoke when I went to plug it in, it was not all the way in yet, so I took it out, tested it with another cable, and everything seems to work fine. The port smells a little weird, like smoke but everything works, it charges normally and connects to my computer still.
I ordered a new Charging Port Ribbon on Ebay, and am going to replace the one in my phone most likely, as it does not seem to hard to do, just take apart the battery module and insert the new ribbon. Has anyone tried this yet?
I was going to buy a full new battery module, but only one on ebay are from fishy places.
Too dangerous

Anyone know of a dynamo hand crank charger that'll work with the N1's weird little flat mini usb port?
Taking a trip to europe in the next 5 months, and I don't want to carry an extra battery or two..

It's not a weird/flat usb port. It's microUSB, and that's standard around the world man.
I have actually seen a handcrank emergency flashlight (saw it today actually for $5) that has an adapter that you can plug in a car charger to. ie crank the flashlight, attach that car charger adapter to the flashlight, plug in your phone charger, plug in your phone. lol Seems complicated, its actually pretty small. And meant for emergency use anyway.
quick google pulls up this, which is even better
http://www.soscharger.com/ $25.99
http://www.bestofferbuy.com/Dynamo-...e-Emergency-Charger-p-31135.html?currency=USD $2.90 WOW
Just got the battery warning so I plugged it in and to my surprise nothing happened ... checked the plug, restarted.. it just won't charge . When I turn screen off and plug it in the screen turns on but it doesn't charge .. is it busted?

Are you plugged into a wall socket? If you are trying to charge through USB from a computer, it won't charge unless in sleep mode. Even then it will charge slowly.
Plugged into a wall socket atm.. iv tried from a computer I don't get a charging icon like I used 2

Anyone else had this issue

Just got it from Amazon and I have the same issue and still not able to figure out how to fix it. My Transformer is lying there without charging. Planning to return it to Amazon.
Right I just got mine working... try this pull the plug apart and put it back together now squueze them together as tight as you can and try that. Its working for me now ..

It just doesn't work. How is the usb cable connected to your adapter? It just gets in both ways.
Can you send me a picture of how the three parts are fit into each other?
its only suppose to go in one way, just like conncting any USB devices. But tried that, dissemble the adaptor and put them together, it actually happened to me once too, did exactly that and everything fixed. Remember you gotta squeeze pretty hard to put the two pieces together.
Thanks guys, its working. But this is ridiculous, you have to do a dumbbell roll to fix battery plug
i cant get it too charge and i just got it in the mail. why the hell it even come with this wack ass plug in the first place. what a horrible first impression!
I suggest you dont even use it, its dangerous. Mine melted the first day I got it. I went to bestbuy and got a replacement that works great. It charges at 11 volts/1.5 amps

Yes, I had this problem with mine too.
It seems to be a common issue:

This seriously works?
I just hope the voltage is right... I've tried different adapters for my phone and then my phone started acting weird (like it didn't take calls and would freeze at times). Replaced the adapter and it returned to normal again.
My TF adapter also gets really hot when charging.
Thanks for the recommendation.
I put some petroleum jelly on the metal prongs and smashed it on the counter a few times AFTER snapping it in.
Unfortunately I did them at the same time and didn't test in between so i don't know which if either or possibly both fixed it but mine is finally ****ing charging.
What a headache. I'm really bothered by ASUS for issuing such a faulty component.
I'm probably going to pick up that dynex tomorrow, because I just KNOW this will break again and mysteriously lodge itself into my drywall.
I just had the problem and discovered that the 5 forward pins on the power adapter are apparently quite easily deformed.
The charger is dual output, 5v and 15v.They use a USB3 connector, with the 15v quick charge output on those pins. I expect that they use the old USB 2 pins behind them to supply 5v for a slow charge, and PC data/charge connection.
Just prior to this, I had tried using an extension USB3 cable on it, so that I could use it while charging, and I suspect that was just enough to deform a couple of the 5 pins in the charger, and I got no charge at all from it, even after putting it back to normal. After an hour, the charger was still cold, and no indication of charging on either the tablet or with the table and keyboard attached.
With a good light and strong magnifier, I could see that a couple of the pins (of the 5 in the front) looked a bit recessed compared to the others, and carefully used the tip of a very fine needle to lift all of them just slightly. Having done that, the charger came to life when I plugged it back in, and the TF is indicating that it is charging.
I don't know how solid or permanent the fix will be, but it is working for me now.
Its been over a month that ive had my 64g note 5. Just yesterday ive noticed that my so called fast charger wasnt charging my phone as it did in the earlier weeks of usage. No i havent exposed my phone ro any liquids and my charger port is covered by my phone case flaps. And no i havent altered my original oem charger cradle/ usb cord. Any one else experiencing the same problem?
Try plugging the charger directly into the wall outlet (If it wasn't already). If you have any alternate USB cables, try some of those. Otherwise it's the adapter or the phone.
Typically unless you notice the actual port having problems the USB cable is probably worn out. They are usually cheap and frequent bending on any portion of the cable will cause it to eventually break the wire inside.
This is one of the benefits of wireless charging. You won't have to worry about wear on the port or dealing with broken/worn USB cables.
Edit: What I did notice about a week ago was my Fast wired charger was cutting in/out or the phone would say it was only charging at standard speed. I had the adapter attached to an extension cord and decided to just run it directly to my power strip, which solved my problem.
An extension cord won't matter. The charger dongle either gets juice or doesn't...
I bought the Choetech fast wireless charger, working great. Heard there's been issues regarding Samsung brand. But the wireless charging works very well. I have the Choetech fast charger & a Spigen wireless dock, both flawless not cutouts!
Sent from my Note 5
For me the issue seems to be the lock screen. When on the lock screen and I plug the charger in I usually do not get fast charge. But if I first log on then it usually will fast charge.

Juice directly from an outlet will always be more than juice coming from an extension cord (especially if its a cheap one) connected to a powerstrip connected to an outlet. If you have ever cut open an extension cord, you'd see why. Below all that plastic are a few silky copper threads which can in no way possible convey the amount of electricity that the thick wires behind your outlet can.

Yes but the dongle is vastly reducing what goes to the phone anyway

Issues with the stock chargers for a lot of people on the note 5. Mine wouldn't fast charge unless plugged and unplugged a bunch. Not good for the port. Got a verizon red tip rapid charger like a few other coworkers got and it fast charges everytime I plug it in. No matter extension or not.. Or 20% or 90%. [emoji4]

the Z5 supports quick charge 2.0
I was gonna buy the sony quick charger UCH10 but it was out of stock on amazon.
Is it okay to use Anker PowerPort+1 ? It says it supports QC 2.0
Sorry, can't link to amazon since I don't have the permission yet.
any qualcomm quickcharge certified device will work.
Are you another poor sod whose carrier swiped the charger from your box like zippy01? His was from O2 in the UK.
In any case, yeah, any Quick Charge 2.0 one should work.
O2 Germany here, no quick charger included in the box :/ Kinda disappointing when you spend +600€ on a device lol.
UCH10 from Taiwan, UCH20 from Vodafone Germany.
Thanks for the answers
UHC20 is quick charger?

No. UCH10 is but the '20 is just a normal 1.5A charger.

It doesn't actually mean it was stolen.
I get normal charger, but headset instead. Packages can differ from themselves. Like in Xperia S you could get better headphones, or standard one but with nfc tags.

If you put anker qualcomm in amazon you'll get a good quality quick charger and in the UK they're currently on offer so they may be everywhere

I use Aukey's QC2.0 Charger and works perfectly and it's cheap (less than 10$).
The Tronsmart TS-WC1Q costs less than the Aukey and Anker ones suggested (it's less than $10 on Amazon right now) and unlike the Anker one, actually includes a 6ft Micro USB Cable good for QC.
And, yes, it is an officially certified Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 device. See this PDF of certified QC 2.0 devices for your reference, straight from the official Qualcomm site.
.
I don't understand why you would require to have one, it's a nice feature indeed but when I see that my Z5 is full after ~2h with the stock charger...
HA! I'M 10 MINUTES AHEAD OF U, LOSER!!?!!<!
Yeah, didn't turn out to be quite as spectacular as I'd hoped. Anyway, I needed a second charger and the Tronsmart one fits the bill nicely.
mine comes with a UCH20 and headphones
i test uch 20 charger and use ampere.. current charge are 1250 maH..i wonder if uch 20 is quick charger or not.. ??
The UCH20 is not Quick Charge.

Have anyone else been troubled by this? It charges but when i press charger longer in i get fast charging?
Dirt inside socket. Grab needle and scrape everything inside around connector. Had this problem few months ago.
