Bad performance - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all!
Well, I know that our XT925/XT926 is outdated, BUT about 3 years ago, every rom on my XT925 ran perfectly fine.
Now, I just can't use my smartphone, freezes 80% on usage, take ages to navigate via Chrome, take photos, back to home screen. I can't execute 2 apps at same time, or I listen my music, or I open Messenger/Whatsapp/Telegram..
Recently I've been installed many roms (Dirty Unicorns, CM11/12/13, Omni, SlimKat), and the performance problem persists
Occours too if I flash stock with RSD(4.1.2) and let him via OTA upgrade to 4.4.2.
Is anybody with same bad performance?
Thank You!

(sorry for may bad english)

Although you're using the same ROMs you used 3 years ago, you're using different, newer versions of almost every app.
These newer versions all have many more features then the old versions, and the creators expect users to have newer phones with much more memory and much faster processors, thus these newer apps will place greater load on the RAM and CPU.
This is why your phone has worse performance than before.
You can try solving this by finding an APK archive site and installing much older versions of your apps, then going to the Play Store and disabling "Auto-update" for those apps, but you will lose all the newer features of those apps, too.

Not sure, but i do remember Cyanogen proving Quadrant gives bugged results if you mess with partitions.

Yeah, i remember that as well. Probably a similar case here rather than a real boost.
may not be completely relevant, but I've eventually got a successful run of it on the G1

scores don't really matter. And it doesn't seem any bit faster, but then again I can't really tell since I haven't gotten it stable enough to test normal apps. The UI feels more smoother-ish, not quicker just less jumpy. *note i said "-ish", because there are no apps installed so obviously it's not gonna lag.
so far for me I have only gotten it to work on the first boot, and for some reason only when I don't flash gapps (and fyi, I'm using CM 6.1).

Still, that's amazing.
Here's a link to what I posted in the N1 forums containing the update.zip with some fixes.

This is not my work, its just some fixes on others works.
Have you tried any heavy duty real world applications? Like Angry Birds or Gallery? Kwaak3 would be another application that relies heavily on loading. Maybe a web browser.
Those are the only apps that I can think of that would benefit from faster loading.

[Q] Is This System ROM "free space amount" normal?

Is the system ROM supposed to be almost filled to capacity like that??
I'm rooted, stock running ADW Launcher Pro, flashed CWM community kernel, (voodoo lagfix), all AT&T Bloatware frozen, and phone is running good, Quadrant (for what its worth) is averaging the normal 1700, but battery life is not so good.... Can get all day use if i'm at work, but if i'm playing with it constantly battery life no more than 4 hrs or so....If thats avg then thats ok, but i think i was getting a lot better BEFORE i "voodoo'ed" : )
Don't want to flash any ROM if i can help it - so many different builds/versions/tar/pit/ i'd rather just leave it the way it is UNLESS anyone can point me towards a STOCK ROM that requires little or no "thinking"...lol
I have 3x extra batteries so i guess its not a HUGE deal, but i like to conserve wasted energy when i can... Also does Juice Defender really HELP? All those settings completely befuddle me, i prolly wind up using MORE cuz i'm like "nooooo, i need that, and that and that and that, don't limit that, omg i can't live without THAT!!!".... lol
thanx y'all,
Ms D
I have a little more left than you. Dont know if its normal though.
I'm not a developer but I try to play one on XDA. Seriously I'm not a developer. DlevROM Yo!
I have a little more than BigFau but not much, "27.5". Besides, this is just the space that the Rom is occupying it doesnt affect the internal sd or external sd from my understanding.
It's normal.....especially if you are mostly stock which you are.....and while you may have bloatware frozen, it is still installed.......ans yes voodoo being enabled takes IP a little more .....that is merely the storage capacity for ROMs or your phone operating system....
A stripped down aosp ROM like mine as you can see will have more space left ....

[ROM] TabTronics FT10 rk3188 - Custom ROM Firmware

If you have bought one of these tabs and are as unhappy about it as I was then read on.
THESE ARE IN NO WAY 'FLYTOUCH 10' MODELS!
I know what it says in the about page but anyone can spoof a model name in build.prop. These are in fact SuperPad 10s http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/10-RK3188-quad-core-android-4_1622115746.html Look familiar?
TabTronics lie about the spec of these devices (NO GPS and only 1.4ghz NOT 1.6)! I got mine for free because they wanted me to keep my mouth shut about their false advertising. Just shows how dodgy some people can be.
Anyway, I now have a FREE rk3188 tab to play with. First off spec. The parts inside this tab seem to be a mix of rk3066 and rk3188 gear (Notice the Flytouch 9 is the same form factor and an rk3066?).
Ive seen 2 versions of this firmware now. the one it came with (which was a mix of an M8Pro and a TV stick firmware) and the one on their site (the better one).
Ive built a basic version of the firmware on the site and it runs well!
spec:
2Gb Internal storage (More games/apps) at the cost of external storage (12Gb Free)
De-Bloated
De-Odexed
init.d support
CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3
Cant remember if its fully rooted but I can show you how if it isnt
Antutu score is around 18k depending on what im doing. Boot time seems to get longer and longer, not sure if its the apps im running or an issue with the firmware (more testing needed). I usually get above the Samsung S3 so that keeps me happy
I fully intend to develop this rom and maybe at some point expand it to other platforms. If anyone is interested in helping me with this project then please pm me
Anyway, here is the link, use batchtool and do a restore (may need to format the internal card on first boot), takes about 10 mins to do the initial setup so dont worry, it hasnt stalled
DOWNLOAD
I hope this helps someone somewhere get the best out of this device. Feel free to comment, good or bad

Should I keep using these Chinese phones? (Doogee, BlackView)

I bought 2 Chinese smartphones: One is from a company called "Doogee", and the second is called "BlackView"
The Doogee one came with many weird apps preinstalled, so I installed Malwarebytes, and it detected 2 malwares. Both removed. After a day, Malwarebytes prompted me that a malware app is trying to install itself (one of those I removed!) - So I stopped using this phone. Hopefully did not risk too much of my personal information (passwords, emails, etc).
Meanwhile, the other Chinese phone I ordered has arrived. Knowing about those security issues now, I immediately installed Malwarebytes, and it detected that the Sound Recorder app is a malware, and is actually using data(?):

@TroyGuard I would recommend to search for a custom rom build from source to get rid of that stock spy roms :good:
@TroyGuard
personally I wouldn't use them but as you have bought phones you probably want to.
Though on twitter recently Elliot Alderson (@fs0c131y was asking for such phones to analyse, he'd probably be happy to get one!
So If no custom ROM then you should be able to freeze those apps, system or preinstalled, that are risky or unknown (though they often come back, so freeze normally better). If you read the recent threads you will find links to a number of ways to do this, eg using TWRP, ADB, apps like Debloater etc which may work on those phones
WARNING: be careful freezing system apps, freezing an essential app can make your phone unusable, check online first if in doubt
Change all your passwords after this is done, to be safe.
(though there is still the possibility of a hardware backdoor , but I've not seen any reports of this.)
(Note: you probably won't get automatic OTA updates anymore as the ota updater is often part of the problem, besides you would have to refreeze apps after new install, but might be worth updating manually if it gives you important security patches)

just few questions with my old rk3188t tablet

Hello. I have my old tablet based on rk3188t with 1GB RAM and android 4.4. The model is WM-BR8150.
It's made for the education so it is really slow.
this can't even run the educational app properly. So im trying to upgrade the android version and i think it would perform much better than before.
But i couldn't find any firmwares for this model.

here is the official spec from the manufacturer, but it's in Korean language so i have taranslated it below.

SO my questions are:
1. Is it possible to upgrade the android version in this tablet?
2. Will it become more faster than before?
3. If avobe questions are positive, what are the procedures to upgrade?

IMO how fast an Android device runs basically isn't related to Android version in use, but mainly depends on its hardware components like CPU/GPU, RAM & monitor, and, not to forget, utilization of device's internal storage medium.
Also, Android can get speed up if it gets de-googled.

Thanks for the replay. I just rooted this tablet and installed some apps to increase the performance like setcpu.
But it is still slow. I cant degoogle it since im using few google apps too.. Also i have some few apps to run in this tablet but because of old android version, i cannot install those apps. It would be great if i can upgrade to androd 5 or 6.
Thanks.
I'm pretty sure upgrading Android will not speed up this tabet. But of course you can do so if you find the needed suitable softwares as these are: Custom Recovery and Custom ROM.
