Check your battery statistics in the settings? Your question is VERY vague, but it is most likely something running/syncing in the background. Also, the first 10% are always the quickest to go.

should i use a "battery saver" app?

i seem to get pretty bad battery life with my tablet, about 5 hours,
i'm thinking of using a battery saver app, but i don't know if i should because i worry these apps will harm my tablet,
how do these "battery saver" apps work? it always runs in the background to monitor battery/change settings,.... so it even makes our tablet drain battery quicker? (because it always runs in the background)
some apps also have feature like "fast charge, continuous charge, fully charge cycle, trickle charge". how can it change the "charging way" that asus made? i heard trickle charge is charging with low current and help extend battery life, but how can it lower the current?
this is what i worry the most, does it do something that physically harm my battery?
if you use an app like this, do you see any battery life improvement, and if so, which app would you recommend using?
thanks

I would say how long have you had the tablet? 5 hours is a bit ridiculous. If its new just give it some time and you should start seeing better battery life. If not you probably got a bad battery. Talk to asus about that. I don't even know of any tablet on the market that cant get more than 5 hours. With something that bad a battery saver app wont help.

Battery usage

Hi guys, I've just bought a Motorola moto g 16gb and then I've installed android 4.4.2 and I noticed that the battery stats doesn't show the battery usage of many user apps..
Is it a bug or not?
(Before this phone I had a HTC desire c with android 4.1.2 cyanogenmod)
Sent from my XT1032 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It is not a bug.. android does not show user apps battery data anymore..
Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk
Ah.. I found it very useful sometime..
And is it normal the percentage of battery used by the screen? (I keep it around 30/40% during the day)

It does, but it won't show any user app that is less than (I think) 4% use. He's got a user app showing up on the list in his screenshot.
What has changed is that some user app use of core OS features now get reported as Android OS/Android System where as under JB they were reported as the originating app.

Yesterday I recharged it so the old screen on time is gone.. But today I didn't used it a lot but the percentage of used battery is 53%

Hey @smoza I noticed in your screenshots you're using a battery percentage app. Did you know that KitKat already supports battery percentage? You can enable it with this app, without root https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent

OK, really need to know battery consumed, how much of that is reported to be the screen and the screen on time to see if that is an issue. It is normal for screen to be top of the list with regular usage but how much it drains (and how much screen on time you get) is basically going to be a function of your brightness settings.
Looking at your second screen shot I can see a couple of things you might want to investigate/change.
Wifi is always on - fine if you are actually connected to wifi - but if you are out and about and not using a wifi connection having wifi enabled will add a significant amount to your idle drain rate. You should also disable 'Scanning always available' in the Advanced Wifi Settings (Settings/Wifi/Menu Button.Advanced).
Your cell signal is often quite poor - not a lot you can do about it but that will cause faster drain when you are connected to mobile data.
Your phone is waking up regularly when not in use. There could be numerous causes for this, but most likely it is having location set to High Accuracy or Battery Saver - the phone is regularly collecting info from your cell tower connections and surrounding wifi networks to feed back to Google to get a location fix, and apps that like to know your location may be asking for a fix regularly. Depending on what you use location for you may wish to consider turning it off entirely or running in Device Only mode.
You've used GPS - some people have experienced an issue with a continually higher drain rate after using GPS - it's intermittent - for some it is everytime after using GPS, some most of the time, others very occasionally. A reboot will fix if this is an issue (it doesn't look like it is a problem but it's hard to tell - it's most obvious if the battery drains in airplane mode).
I turned off the GPS right now, disabled 'scanning always available' and set the brightness as auto.. I'll write here if this will increase my battery life or not, thank you anyway

You might want to keep it between 10 to 20% manually adjusting to higher levels if you're going outside, for the brightness sensor to not be working and therefore, consuming more battery.
From this morning at 10a.m. with 94% of battery I reached the 9p.m. with 7% of battery and I used it a bit more of my average use.. That's better than before (I had to charge my phone at 8p.m.), so thank you guys

[Q] Moto G Battery trouble, any help?

Hello.
I got my Moto G sometime in Feb and I've been having massive battery issues. One of the reasons I got the phone was because of a friend who runs his phone 2 days in a row on a single charge.
I have trouble making it last longer than 12.
The drain is 4.4-4.6% per hour according to GSam Battery Monitor.
Can't post screen-caps right now because I'm new to the forum.
Any help would be appreciated.
When I took it to the service centre the guy said I'm asking for too much from the phone and said all he can do at this point is re-install the OS and then if it doesn't get better he might consider replacing the battery.
GSam monitor also alerts me every time I unlock the device saying "100% awake while screen off."
You have an app that is misbehaving. Look through the ones you have added. Remove them one by one if you have to

The guy at the service centre did a fresh install. After which I've been closely monitoring all the apps.
And GSam Battery Monitor states that it's the android system that's using up most power.

BetterBatteryStats also says that bam_dmux_wakelock is keeping my phone awake most of the time.
Any idea what that might be?

Betterbatterystats help

Hi all,
Because my android system etc were using alot % of my usage (more than my SOT), I used betterbatterystats to look into it.
Now I ran it a full day, but to be honest I don't understand a thing from this app.
How do I find what is causing my battery drain?
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
Go into the Kernel Wakelocks, Partial Wakelocks, and Alarms sections and post screenshots of the stats please.
Is this enough info?

That's good, please also post a screen of the Other section too.

What other section? Process etc?
So i went to bed and put my phone on airplane mode when it was 27%
I wake up 9 hours later and see that i have 15% left.
That is not normal!

I meant literally the section that is titled "other". You've shown it in one of those screenshots. You have the device awake for about an hour longer than the screen was actually on. Do you use Greenify to.stop apps from running in the background when you're not using them? Are you turning off non-essential services (GPS etc) when not in use?
Transmitted via Bacon
I don't use greenify.
Gps, nfc and bluetooth are always off (unless i use them).
I use lux for auto brightness.
My performance profile is always on balanced.
Those last screens were frome when i woke up.
So the phone was indeed longer in usethan my wake up time.
I saw before i went to sleep, that my wakeup time was 1hour and 20mins more than my screen on time

It's probably worth looking into using Greenify, and auto-brightness is usually a battery killer.

Settings / battery. THe page before the graph you posted - which apps are listed there, and what are the %? (That said, you use the phone a lot - there is a lot of screen on/ awake time on your graph. Turn the screen brightness down maybe?)

I am also getting the issue. I'm on 6-7, 24.3.7, rooted, and if I use it intensely it will go down to 14% before 3:30 PM. I'm surprised, as the issue never happened when I got the phone new.
If your screen is 42%, you're just using it a lot. The Mini has a small battery. Maybe you can try setting brightness down, but it looks like this is drain because you use it rather than a runaway app or process.
That said, Google Play services and Google services have been running high on my usage list lately. There's not much you can do about that, except maybe turn off background sync, which sort of negates the reason I bought a smartphone in the first place.
Battery Doctor
Guys, I have been using Battery Doctor for few days, I have noticed positive effect on battery life. Maybe someone is interested to try..
