Hi,
I've been having issues with OTG support for external usb memory sticks for a long time due to security policy restrictions on my device. Searching the forums doesn't show many people having the same error and even then it usually resolves itself within an update our so.
I think it is related to the way my carrier builds the ROM (Swisscom) and am looking to install a generic version from the UK or somewhere.
If I am simply replacing the stock rom of one country with another, do I still need to do the full device erase and reinstallation, or do you think it should just work to overwrite the current image in situ? I would prefer not to have to revoke all the two factor authentications I have setup on the device and loose all my personal preferences.
Any previous experiences would be appreciated
Regards
David

You don't have to wipe your phone if it's the same build number.

I just read on CyanogenMod's website that all CM stock ROM's allow the owner of the phone to control whether root access should be granted to an application. Will OnePlus One allow a general user to install a native C++ application that requires root access without hassle?

The OnePlus One will be delivered in official state not rooted.
If you want install applications with root requierement then you have to root first your device.
Rooting/flashing/modifiing the software is dangerous by nature so if you damage your phone by doing this no one will replace you it for free and not with warranty.
Rooting/flashing/modifiing your device is okay by OnePlus if you asking cause of warranty but when you damage it cause of rooting its not okay for example when you try overclock with a app.
I tried to explain it simple i hope all will understand and agree this.
There is also a thread in OnePlus One forum if you want take this information from the base just use search engine like always
Cheers

Judging from the OP's original point it sounds like rooting is a simple on/off feature unless I'm misreading. Or will this be another device that we root the same way as we would any other device?

I would think from what I've heard this phone should be as easy to root as a Nexus. It should be basic fastboot oem unlock for the bootloader then you can flash a custom recovery and superuser.
I root my devices, because I usually want to get rid of the unneeded CRAP that comes with most phones.
If OPO or any other mfg delivers a device without the bloat, I doubt I would need to root it.
The main reason I root is for a particular call blocking app that requires root and works on the system level. Main reason.

I need root at least for Titanium Backup as I'm a flashaholic... and always in need of a full backup of all the important apps I install everytime. But from what I read, it will be possible to choose whether to root or not. About bootloader I don't know. I'm also curious what recovery will be installed... Will they build their own version of CWM? And if yes, will we need to build something else?
Is anyone in this thread

Hi,
I am pretty sure you need to be running as lot to change SELinux in this manner which I'm guessing is what you're trying to get in the first place.
Chances are you need to run a different exploit on your device to obtain root
Looks like a Samsung device judging by the font, but would need to know more info to point you in the proper direction such as make, model, android version, carrier etc
EDIT:
Just saw your signature and it appears you have a version branded S4, depending on the version this guide should help you out

Let me know if you have further questions
You are correct however. I am actually already rooted and I don't understand why it's giving me a hard time. I have been on this device. I have to do this again was because I loaded a stock rom so that way I could get it fixed. When I got it back is when I had this issue. What I am trying to do is install safestrap.

Did you remove root privileges from your terminal emulator? Check your super user app
I am going to be selling my rooted Nexus 6. My question is this. If I flash a new rom and do not set it all up then do a backup of it. If I delete all my previous backups and install the new rom will that be enough to get rid of my personal information? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

You should be okay with flashing a new ROM. Realistically the chances of selling to someone who's going to go out of their way to find your information with an unlikely outcome of making profit - is very very unlikely.

Hello all! I'm looking for some info. Can stock unbranded software be put onto the phone? If so, where can I find it?
Is there a way to stop Sprint from installing software automatically?
I don't have teh S-8 yet but you should be able to transfer any APKs and just run them (dbl-click) and they will install. Be careful though.
