[Completed] TWR failed to mount \data, ... - XDA Assist

Hi all,
After unsuccessfully asking for support in the LG G3 forums, I'm going to try it here. Please point me out to another thread, if this is the wrong place to ask those questions.
First of all: I am new to flashing etc, so I'd rather not just try anything without being certain about it. Also, my phone is currently running fine, so rather play safe for now...
LG G3, D855, Dirty Unicorns Rom v10.3, TWRP 3.0.2.0 installed, Viper4Android, nothing else (no different kernel or something)
Issue: I cannot perform any wipe in TWRP, as it "fails to mount \data, \cache, \system". Interestingly, flashify thinks I am on "stock recovery", even after booting into recovery and restarting the device. It also refers to old backups as stock. Only the backup of the 2.7.xx TWRP is labeled as such.
I have done some fair share of googling. Most similar threads I have found were left unanswered. On some other devices, the problem could be solved by installing another recovery. But I did not find a CMW for the LG G3, so this won't work. I thought about just installing TWRP again (via flashify, or maybe install some older version/restore a backup), but I'm not sure whether this could do further harm, with the current state in mind? Other possibility could be reverting back to stock, but that would be a rather tedious approach.
Glad for any help/hint/pointing out to better threads/whatever!!
Thanks a lot!
Patrick

[Q] Getting CWM installed on new ICS firmware Galaxy S2

Hi folks and especially Chainfire if he is tracking nu-bees,
Nu-bee here. Just installed Resurrection Remix Pro ICS firmware following instructions at Galaxy2Root.com. They had me install 3 files with the Remix package, GoogleApps and GoogleAppsFix. All went well. Then the instructions told me to install 10_CWM.zip so that ClockWorkMod would work. But CWM had been overwritten, so I couldn´t install something from my internal sdcard. I thought I would be clever and install one of Chainfire´s custom CF-root packages. I selected one close to the kernel number I have installed (LPJ). I flashed it over with Odin.
No joy. The phone booted, showed the opening logo and then lay there with a black screen. But CWM recovery still was active, so I wiped the system and reinstalled the files this time including 10_CWM.zip (4 files). This time I have ICS but CWM is gone again. I´d like to back up the ROM.
I´d like suggestions as to how to get CWM installed. I would be most grateful! I read the entire 450 page set of posts on Chainfire´s CF-root upgrades (whew). I´d use one of those if I was confident that I wouldn´t go back to a black screen again.....
still trying
Well, I haven´t gotten much of a response with this. With this 10 post limit for noobies, I can´t get to the developers forum where I would find the folks who grapple with these kinds of issues.
Anyway, I flashed the latest of Chainfires kernels, the LP7 version, and ended up with a black screen again. So I went into restore (and had CWM restore at least) and restored my ROM, etc. But of course, I lost CWM in the process. And had to reconfigure my phone all over again. I had used My Backup Pro and it didn´t save the connections to the Google Market, so I had to reinstall my apps all over again. Is Titanium better in this regard? My Backup Pro claims to make better backups for rooted phones, but this was pretty feeble.
So that will be my question for this forum - should I change to Titanium? Will it get all my apps, settings, and data back into my preferred configuration?
Have a great day......
I am in same boat as you are. I buy i just installed rom with Rom manager and i have Gapps fixer and remix one left and CWM ofcourse. So my problem is i don't have Ex-sd as they suggest to Install "Cwm.zip from external sd card from recovery". How to do so ?
Please help
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Never mind I sort it out Yesterday. I installed from Rom manager & Flash recovery from it and then boot up into recovery from App and then Flash Touch Recovery.

[Q] Brick question

I've been doing research on this for a while, and I decided to sign up and ask about this question. Majority of the topics here dealing with bricking either have solved it because of access to fastboot, or some users have given up and either retired their devices or sent them in to ASUS.
Long story short, I installed Clockwork Recovery Mod and Cyanogen mod with no issues. After a couple of weeks, I decided I wanted to go back to stock. I did some research and found a topic which said I needed TWRP in order to flash back the stock ROM. I installed TWRP, but some things seemed to have gone awry with that install and I no longer have access to the fastboot menu and the tablet keeps booting straight into recovery.
I can load new roms by pushing them with adb, but when I try to reload the stock mod it just reboots and nothing gets installed. I tried to sideload a rom, but my version of TWRP doesn't have that feature (I have 2.2). So far, I think I can get it back on track if I could somehow install a new recovery, or start my device from scratch somehow.
Also whenever I transfer to device memory, if I reboot the tablet, everything gets erased and the log is littered with errors about not being able to find and mount /data. From what I've read, it should be solved with a simple format of the file system. However, all of my attempts to use the recovery's built in wiping/formatting tools have ended with no success. If I put in a microSD, that gets wiped as well so in order to load a ROM, I have to push it using adb.
I thought I had fully bricked it, but it seems that since it's accessible through adb, it's still somewhat fixable. I know about backing up everything with nvflash, now, I guess I just didn't do enough research before getting into this. Any ideas, feedback, is appreciated, so far I'm learning a lot about android devices from this experience.

Where did you dig out this ancient TWRP version? It is not compatible with the current bootloaders and cannot access the internal storage at all - that's why all your installation attempts are failing.
Read this thread, it deals with a similar problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291974

Yeah I found that thread not too long ago, I pushed the bootloader and was able to load the stock rom and get everything going.

[Completed] [Q]Sprint LG G2 (LS980) Boot Loop, Has TWRP, ADB feature won't Work

Hi all,
I made a mistake flashing a Nightly ROM on my Sprint LG G2; it appears the ROM was very unstable.
I am currently rooted (using stump root), have TWRP recovery on my phone and no operating systems.
I have tried several solutions, none of which have worked so far including: using LG Flash Tool, trying to ADB sideload (which is the option I prefer, although my phone just says "Starting ADB Sideload Feature" and doesn't do anything else when I attempt this).
I had backed up my stock OS but after trying to flash the Nightly ROM, which didn't work at all, my phone entered a boot loop. When I went to the TWRP recovery menu, I found my back up was erased along with everything else on the phone, leaving only TWRP itself on the phone.
I am seeking your advice because this is the third or so time I have flashed a ROM and positively upset that there are now no operating systems on my phone. I have consulted many guides, threads, posts, and tutorials to no avail. Please do help me.
Thanks very much in advance
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. This might seem like a stupid question, but what's stopping you from just copying a ROM zip across to the phone while it's booted into TWRP and connected to your PC?
No response in two days, thread closed.

D801 TWRP Issue - Bottom portion of touch screen doesn't respond

tl;dr - TWRP touch screen won't work after installing custom ROM, much hassle to unbrick, looking for a "bumped" (still not actually sure what that term means) or otherwise modified version of TWRP that won't go haywire when installing a custom ROM.
tl;dr 2 - Also interested in the LATEST "stock-based" ROM recommendations anyone may have... G3 backports or whatever. She needs her Camera to work well but older 4.4.x and 5.0.x OS is missing a lot of new functionality and compatibility with new apps.
I'll just start out by saying that I've figured out just about every way to brick and subsequently un-brick this device that is feasibly possible, and am considering starting a thread specific to those various methods... but that's not what this is for.
This is an issue I've encountered a few times now, definitely on my girlfriend's T-Mobile LG G2 D801 with Lollipop (30B and now again on D801 30C), and iirc, also on KitKat.
I'll explain what I can remember, most of this has been done in the middle of the night after many frustrating hours of attempting various methods... I have to say, this phone has been much more difficult to mod compared to my previous experiences with Samsung and Nexus devices.
I had gotten this device all the way through to CM12 or 13 a year or so ago but recent issues made us decide to attempt to revert back to a Stock-based ROM.
Steps:
1. Root (ioroot / Autorec, can't remember which or for what reason, I have multiple versions of each)
2. Install TWRP Custom Recovery (most recently and successfully using a modified version of the "30B Freedom Tool", although I haven't tried that on 30C - yet.
3. Transfer custom ROM & Kernel to SDCard.
4. Boot into TWRP and install custom ROM & Kernel - most recently GoogleEdition 1.5 and then DorimanX 12.0 Kernel
5. Clear Cache / DALVIK Cache.
6. Reboot device. This is where the trouble begins...
Results: Won't boot into OS at all, instead I end up at the text-based "fastboot" screen, which after multiple tries I can eventually get back into TWRP or into Download Mode.
Once in TWRP after installing custom ROM, the bottom ~1" of the screen won't respond and all other touches aren't accurate... playing with it, I can usually eventually get into some of the TWRP screens, but for most purposes it's about useless.
I managed to restore a backup of the original 30B system image via command line over MTP using ADP TWRP commands, but that bricked the phone in an entirely separate manner where I couldn't access Recovery anymore and the system wouldn't boot at all... I ended up using the LG Update tool to get it up to 30C, and was surprised to find that it still had the restored backup data (apps, pictures, settings, etc), and the phone is now working again, albeit back to stock recovery.
Now, as I mentioned, this isn't the first time I've run into this "phantom touch" issue in TWRP on this device, although the circumstances seem to be a little backwards this time vs when I was taking the device over to CM12/13. I think I remember something about a "bumped" or otherwise modified version of TWRP being out there, but I can't find it now or put my finger on what the changes were.
Has anyone else run into this? I am hoping I've just overlooked something, but days of digging through threads hasn't turned up much.
/edit/ To give you an idea, attached is the folder I've got files stored in... with tons more in Archive and Stock-Based... I've used them ALL at some point. I'd like to get enough info in here to write a Step by Step guide for new owners who are picking these devices up on the cheap, and would appreciate if anyone wants to help out with this!

TWRP Freezes on 1st instal

I have asked on a few threads including the TWRP thread but no one seems to be answering for some reason so I thought I'd risk putting up a separate post to try and get an answer.
I followed the instructions to the letter on how to install TWRP from the thread and it installed all ok, the only problem is that the screen is totally frozen and there is nothing I can do to get it to work. I have now gone back to Oreo via Odin until I can get help on what's gone wrong. Would it make a difference if I tried from Nougut 7.0?
I have rooted and installed roms, TWRP's pretty often last year with my M10, M8 etc so I'm not that new to this but it's got me foxed this time.
Good question. I had an issue after installing CarHDROM, v9 for a bit where I could get into TWRP, but the phone would boot loop getting out of TWRP and I had a hard time getting back into recovery or download mode.
I re-flashed the phone and TWRP as well, and after that all was well. I did not change anything on the re-flash.
Sometimes things just get mux'ed.
