Hello everyone,
By this guide you can root and unlock bootloader of recently launched device in India i.e; Hyve Buzz (BU01). I will tell you how we can install TWRP recovery and by using it we can easily root the device. There are 2 methods for installing TWRP recovery, both are explained below. You can follow any method according to your need. These are not just one click solutions so, I am assuming that you have some prior knowledge of rooting and unlocking. If you don't know anything about this then, it's better to try after reading some threads at XDA explaining about rooting and unlocking. I will add un-rooting/restoring process in the next thread.
Install TWRP Recovery
Download "Root/Unlock package" from downloads section and extract. It contains following files: -
- "MT6753_Android_scatter.txt" for SP Flash Tool scatter loading.
- "recovery.img", customised TWRP recovery.
- "recovery-stock.img", stock recovery if you want to restore.
Method 1 (Windows Only)
Flash recovery via SP Flash Tool.
1. Open SP Flash Tool and under "Download" tab select, "Scatter-loading".
2. Select "MT6753_Android_scatter.txt" from the extracted files. It will load all the files.
3. Uncheck all the items below and select only "recovery".
4. Click on "Download" button at the top.
5. Turn off the device and connect it to the USB and it will start flashing the recovery.
6. "Download OK" dialog will appear.
7. Turn on your device and finish the boot process. Now, you can proceed to rooting process.
Method 2 (Windows/LINUX/OS X)
Unlock bootloader and flash recovery via fastboot. ADB/Fastboot must be installed and working. You can check other XDA threads to install.
1. Go to Settings > About phone > Tap on "Build number" 7 times. It will unlock "Developer options".
2. Now, go to Settings > Developer options.
3. Enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging".
4. Run the below command in terminal/cmd to reboot into bootloader mode: -
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
6. "FASTBOOT mode" will appear at the bottom left corner of the screen, run the following command and follow on-screen instructions to unlock bootloader: -
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Press "Volume Up" button to proceed (Data will be wiped due to security reasons).
7. Now, press "Power", "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons together to turn off the device.
8. Now, again boot into Fastboot mode by following the below instructions and run the below command to install TWRP recovery.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. Again, press "Power", "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons together to turn off the device.
10. Turn on your device and finish the boot process. Now, you can proceed to rooting process.
Boot into Recovery/Fastboot
1. Turn off the device and wait for 2-3 seconds.
2. Press and Hold "Power + Volume Up" buttons until screen turns on.
3. Use "Volume Up" button to select options (Recovery, Fastboot or Normal).
4. Press "Volume Down" button to OK. If "Recovery" is selected then, follow the steps below.

This is assuming that you have Android SDK installed on you PC. - Tutorial found here:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/adb-easy-tutorial/
1. Downloading the rooting-update zip file. Download the zip file from here - http://goo.gl/Om9aP
Now place this on your external sdcard. - Sorry this is a requirement at the moment, like I said this is a bit rushed.
2. Flashing recovery
1. Download this Recovery image. http://bit.ly/iLRAIV
(place this image in you SDK PlatformTools Folder, or which ever folder that contains your adb.exe)
2. If your device is locked, now is a good time to unlock it.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
3. Flash recovery Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img
Once you have verification on your device that this has been flashed, reboot your device by holding volume up + power. Then 3 seconds after you see the Motorola logo, hit volume down. You should now see "Android Recovery" in the top left corner. Hit volume up to boot into recovery.
4. Flashing the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file.
If you're in clockwork mod recovery you can continue (This recovery image will say it is clockwork mod) . If you're not looking at clockwork mod, then you need to repeat step 3 again.
In cwm, go into "install zip from sdcard" -> "Choose zip from sdcard", then select the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file you downloaded.
Note: use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select
Reboot your device and then welcome to your rooted device!
As Always, If this was helpful-hit the Thanks!

Am I missing something or does this show you how to root the device when the question was how to unroot and lock? I'm looking to do the same thing.........
No you are not missing anything-I posted the wrong instuctions! LOL
Here you go -

This is for Re-locking and Un-Rooting the US WIFI Xoom BUILD HWI69 ONLY
This is for use only on the Wifi-Only Xoom HWI69 build. Check your build number before you install!!!
Please note the following information does contain official Motorola images from a non Motorola source. The information in this thread has been tested, however I can not confirm that it will work for every situation. In no way will I or xda-developers.com be held accountable for any damage resulting from using this information. Use the following with extreme caution.
1. Download the necessary files from here:
http://www.android.net/forum/downloa...?do=file&id=39
2. Unzip the files to the directory you will be running ADB from.
3. Enter the following commands into the command prompt
adb reboot bootloader
Xoom will then reboot into bootloader screen
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
After the final reboot you should be back to stock, Locked and Un-Rooted.

oh now I got it, i think you go in the boot menu, all mediateks have that in Chinese
To get into recovery you must press up volume and then hold it along with pressing the power button,
Y6 after a few seconds turn;s on and you then have to chose which mode to go. Up volume to change selection and down volume to select, recovery mode obviously

after doing that i have =killed= android lieing on screen with red triangle.... under it it says =No command=
---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:58 PM ----------
So for new guys in this i skipped very important step when flashed twrp:
Do not run system , but to bootloader first , accept modifications and whoala...
thx @chillo for responding quickly
BTW The dying android means no custom recovery is installed for Y6 , no fastboot command whatsoever
And yes, Y6 and most new android phones from Marshmallow and newer *(edit: ) stock ROMs, don't like to mess with their system partition, one should select system as read-only
Glad you made it through and learned a bit of it
Bootloop
It appears I've soft-bricked my Y6.
I've installed TWRP 3.03 as above and can boot into it but when I try to do a normal reboot I'm stuck in a boot loop.
How do I get to this stage - "Do not run system , but to bootloader first , accept modifications and whoala..." Is that when you first run TWRP?
In the Mount section of TWRP "System" is not ticked but the button "Mount as readonly" is.
If I select Fastboot it hangs. Normal boot hangs. Boot into Recovery is fine.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Y6 Max:*install recovery with fastboot in Ubuntu Linux
Hello,
thank you for this very useful thread. Just want to add some information on installing the recovery image on the Doogee Y6 Max via fastboot in Ubuntu Linux
I've followed this instructions with some minor (but important)*changes.
First useful information:*to enter in the fastboot mode of the Y6 max do the follow:
- power off your phone
- push togheter Volume up and Power button
now you will see a menu with three options. Move the arrow with Volume up and select "fastboot". Then press Volume down.
You are now in fastboot mode.
Connect your phone via USB to the computer.
Open a terminal and:
- unlock OEM as described in the tutorial linked above.
- install your recovery.img as described in the tutorial linked above
- re-lock the OEM with this command:
Code:
sudo fastboot oem lock
otherwise your phone won't boot.
Then power off your phone and enter in the menu described above pressing toghether Volume up and Power.
Now select "Recovery" and you are done.
Hi! I did everything like in the tutorial but phone is stuck in bootloop after flashing supersu from sd card. Any advices?
I tried 3.0.3 twrp and newest supersu. Phone turned on but there is not root, also there were no errors during instalation.

Yes, but some comments have issues where will it work with different versions (or updates), as the last update ASUS pushed was around Dec 17/Jan 18 with November 2017 security patch, some of the guides I've tried have failed, or had some issues. Also, some guides tell you to downgrade to marshmallow beta. Anyways, I just thought to do a final guide to root. ?

Obviously, you need an unlocked bootloader to do any modifications! The only issue is, Asus phones don't show whether you have an unlocked bootloader or not. Sometimes the bootloader unlocker fails.

[GUIDE][ROOT]Galaxy M30S Bootloader Unlocking and Rooting Guide

Disclaimer
I'm not responsible if something went wrong on your phone(Usually nothing goes wrong). You are doing this on your own responsibility. Rooting your phone may void warranty so don't root your device unless you know what you are doing.
Before Installing Magisk
Your device is non-A/B and uses system-as-root, so Magisk will be installed to the recovery partition of your device.
Installing Magisk for the first time REQUIRES a full data wipe, backup before continue( I would recommend to use SmartSwitch app for backup )
You have to have your bootloader unlocked before following the instructions.
Unlocking Bootloader
Allow bootloader unlocking in Developer options → OEM unlocking
Reboot your device to download mode. Turn off your device and hold volume up + volume down button, connect usb cable to PC
Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot.
Go through the initial setup. Skip through all the steps since data will be wiped again later when we are installing Magisk.
Enable developer options, and confirm that the OEM unlocking option exists and grayed out!
Your bootloader now accepts unofficial images in download mode.
Instructions
Method 1
1. Download the latest firmware for your device.
2. Unzip the firmware and copy the AP tar file to your device. It is normally named as AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5
3. Install the latest Magisk Manager
4. In Magisk Manager: Install → Install → Select and Patch a File and select the AP tar file.
5. Magisk Manager will patch the whole firmware file and store the output to [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.tar, Copy the patched file to your PC.
6. Download and extract odin(link given below).
7. Install Samsung USB drivers if not installed automatically.
8. Reboot into download mode, odin will indicate blue in id:com if the device is connected.
9. Flash magisk_patched.tar as AP in Odin, together with the BL, CP and CSC files. Never flash only an AP file, as Odin can shrink your /data file-system if you do.
Important: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
10. Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device! But there are still several steps
before you can properly use the device.
11. We now want to boot into the stock recovery to factory reset our device.
Full data wipe is mandatory! Do not skip this step.
Press and hold Power + Volume Down to exit download mode. As soon as the screen turns off, immediately press and hold the Volume up + Power button to enter stock recovery.
12. Use volume buttons to navigate through the stock recovery menu, and the power button to select an option. Choose Wipe data/factory reset to wipe the data of the device.
13. This time, we can finally boot to the system with Magisk.
Important: Select Reboot system now, and immediately press the Volume up + power button after seeing the bootloader warning screen, release all buttons so it can boot to the magisk system.
14. The device will automatically reboot for the first time it boots. This is completely normal and done by design.
15. After the device is booted up, do the usual initial setup. The following steps will need an internet connection.
16. You shall see Magisk Manager in your app drawer; if not, manually install the APK and continue to the next step. The app will automatically upgrade to the full Magisk Manager when you open it.
17. Enjoy Magisk
Method 2
INS Only
*To Make Things Easier*
1. Download the firmware(already patched) from the link given below
2. Unzip the firmware to any folder on your PC.
3. Download and extract odin(link given below).
4. Install Samsung USB drivers if not installed automatically.
5. Reboot into download mode, odin will indicate blue in id:com if the device is connected.
6. Flash AP, BL, CP and CSC files from extracted firmware. Do not load HOME_CSC and also leave USERDATA empty in odin.
Important: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
7. Continue steps from 10 to 17 from method 1
Method 3: Rooting with TWRP[Thread]
1. Download Twrp based on ASL2 firmware only which already have magisk patched.
2. Go to download mode
3. Using odin flash TWRP in AP slot.
4. Reboot to twrp and format data.
4. Now you have Magisk + Twrp
Note: Magisk will be disabled when you reboot the device normally. To get into Magisk enabled system, Turn off your phone and use Volume up + power buttons to turn on and release it as soon as you see Samsung Galaxy M30S logo. This will boot into magisk system, I would recommend Smalipatcher module to reboot directly into magisk system.
Updates: For each and every updates, either magisk or system update always patch the firmware with magisk and flash using odin(data will not be wiped if HOME_CSC used instead of CSC)

Either use adb reboot download, or Turn off your device and hold volume up + volume down button, connect usb cable to PC
1. Download the firmware from the link given below.
2. Unzip the firmware to any folder on your PC.
3. Download and extract odin(link given below).
4. Install Samsung USB drivers if not installed automatically.
5. Reboot into download mode, odin will indicate blue in id:com if the device is connected.
6. Load AP, BL, CP and CSC files from extracted firmware. Do not load HOME_CSC and also leave USERDATA empty in odin.
Important: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
7. Now Start Flashing!
8. Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device! But there are still several steps
before you can properly use the device.
9. We now want to boot into the stock recovery to factory reset our device.
Full data wipe is mandatory! Do not skip this step.
Press and hold Power + Volume Down to exit download mode. As soon as the screen turns off, immediately press and hold the Volume up + Power button to enter stock recovery.
10. Use volume buttons to navigate through the stock recovery menu, and the power button to select an option. Choose Wipe data/factory reset to wipe the data of the device.
11. This time, we can finally boot to the system with Magisk.
Important: Select Reboot system now, and immediately press the Volume up + power button after seeing the bootloader warning screen, release all buttons so it can boot to the magisk system.
12. The device will automatically reboot for the first time it boots. This is completely normal and done by design.
13. After the device is booted up, do the usual initial setup. The following steps will need an internet connection.
14. You shall see Magisk Manager in your app drawer; if not, manually install the APK and continue to the next step. The app will automatically upgrade to the full Magisk Manager when you open it.
15. Enjoy Magisk

Where is the step for patching magisk, if you flash it on AP slot you must insert the Magisk_patched.tar file, it look like you did not do it by your self. The latest Magisk v20.1 may be does not work. the problem is random boot loop.
You can watch this video below it will show you clearly steps by steps, you just need to change the firmware that match your M30s model number.

OK... funny thing: it is there now. The only thing is changed: I "gave up" on rooting -- and started setting up phone -- inserted SIM-card and attached my Google account. -- might be worth adding this to the first post.
Another issue: Odin flashing failed "in the middle" with small red text like "User firmware disabled".
Now phone is not bootable -- text appears:
And error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software.

But the Smart Switch says "unsupported device"...
And "adb devices" can't see the phone now...

Resolved that issue flashing original (without Magisk patching) firmware.
Confirmed afterwards that you only can see "OEM unlocking" when your Google account attached.
But yes: it's appears that bootloader still was locked -- that "OEM unlocking" -- it's not grayed-out.
So, the question is: how you're supposed to unlock it?
-- "reboot download" and long pressing Volume Up there -- from the first post -- does nothing
-- "reboot recovery" + wipe data + reboot to bootloader -- from the "movie" -- does nothing
Comment if someone got success in Rooting m30s..!!

Considering we have Magisk available -- rooting is rather trivial. Setback is with unlocking bootloader
Finally Rooted
After couple of tries and disappearing OEM Unlocking button, finally I was successful in rooting using the method from this post. It took me some time to master booting directly into recovery after flashing patched images using Odin!
Also, did not realized that you need to connect USB cable to PC and press volume up and down at same time to get the bootloader unlock option.
Thank You OP.

Is it possible to make A125U into A125F? That would be the only way for me i believe. It worked on my A115U when i flashed A115U1 onto it but i cant seem to find it for the A12.

It is possible, and it is the only way for you to do what?. To flash A125F fimware on A125U you have to go through a really complicated method to succeeded, you would have to dismantle the phone and force boot it in to the preloader and disable MEDIATEK's and samsung's own security locks to trick the rollback prevantion (RP) and downgrade SW REV so you can flash A125F fimware. And forgot to mention, you have to go trought some litle pain with SBL aswel.
Wow, seems like a lot. i just want root and twrp. I wonder why it was so eqsy on A11. Thank you for the reply.

Except this doesnt work for every model as the A125U Model is different. Is there any way you can elaborate on how to "force boot it in to the preloader and disable MEDIATEK's and samsung's own security locks to trick the rollback prevantion (RP) and downgrade SW REV so you can flash A125F fimware." Maybe a separate guide can be made? Because i can get it in download mode but flashing AP using odin fails and i have no idea how to disable mtk secure boot which shows enabled and my sw rev says : B1 NS1 K1 S1

A guide for that, maybe some other day. It would require phone disasembely to force PRELOADER. And what error do you when flashing AP file?
Hello, long time forum lurker here but never posted anything before. I recently have been having a headache from several different AT&T phones all being restricted to the point where I can't do anything with them. I have an SM-A125U from att that doesn't have an OEM unlock option.
Through my Ubuntu computer I can run some basic adb and fastboot commands but nothing that actually helps me. Still though the fact that I can make the phone go to recovery and fastboot make me wonder if there is really nothing I can do about this. Frija also won't let me get a firmware file for my device.
Not totally sure how it works but somebody said AT&T encrypts the software so you can't access specific functions. I am just wondering is there anything I can do through adb or fastboot to fix this issue in any way, or if my only real option is to just buy a new unlocked phone or something?
I explained it here, if it still doesn't work then comment again here.

Thanks I am definitely a few steps closer now. I got the Android 10 installed, and got the OEM unlock option finally. Turning that on and powering off my phone afterward, I started it up with the Vol + - and then the power button. After pressing up it booted into a somewhat different looking download mode where it shows the warranty status and stuff. Just to make sure I'm not doing anything out of order here, what file is it looking for now to unlock the bootloader? The OEM unlock option is still there and activated right now after following the bootloader guide in this post.
so it seems like it's doing something weird I think.

I don't know if I'm just missing something but I can't figure that out so far. This phone isn't reacting to the buttons like the guides suggested. I have the phone powered off to get it to do any of this first, but power and vol + goes to the stock recovery screen. Power and vol + and vol - makes it go to a warning screen about installing a custom OS and asks if I want to continue or not. Long pressing vol+ doesn't do anything from that screen, and only opens odin mode. plugging in the phone to my computer and only holding vol+ and vol- didn't do anything at all, and also just long pressing vol+ didn't work either Is the phone supposed to be powered off already when I long press vol+, or on a different screen from the blue yes or no screen you see before odin mode?
