Hi,
My TF300T stopped responding to my touches and has some ghost touches now occurring just under the ASUS logo in the bezel. Has anyone else experienced this and can offer a fix? Is this a shot digitizer?
FYI, I've tried a cold start, cleaning the screen, and resetting the tablet using the small hole on the left. None of those worked. The track pad still works so I can still use the tablet as a netbook, but that sucks.
Any other suggestions?

I've tried all the fixes in that thread. And in that thread, their screens still work for them ... mine doesn't at all.
FYI, I also don't use a screen protector

I can understand. There is also a lot of trash in that thread and no convincing solution except via RMA from Asus. It's still a mystery!
I don't know what rom do you use and what recovery. What do you think about format data (not wipe or factory reset) and then a clean reinstallation of your current rom. If it is a soft ware problem it might be solved. If not it might surly be a hard ware problem. That means to swap the touch screen. On the other hand before realize such a decision you could try get back to the last Asus stock rom JB and look what happened then. Trial and error is the only way to figure out the cause in order to solve it. Please keep us posted whatever you are going to try. Thanks!
I'm using KatKiss MM v28 and Kang TWRP 2.8.7.2. I launched TWRP, but was unable to use either the touchscreen nor trackpad. The trackpad is unsupported in the version I use, I guess. I suspect this is a hardware issue as the touchscreen didn't work in TWRP.
I'm travelling now and don't have a suitable place to open up the tablet to look for loose connections. I'll do that when I get home.

Regarding your suspicion about the track pad support I may tell you the inverse. I'm also using #28 and the same TWRP like you. The track pad of the dock works fine and the USB mouse as well either wireless or with cable. I have tried both.

Hmm. I wonder if the ghost touches are interfering with the trackpad. I'll try a USB mouse when I'm back at home. Thanks for confirming they work in TWRP.
Tried a USB mouse in TWRP. It works. Flashed v29, but the issue remains. I may try formattig data later.
I took the back off the tablet and disconnected a couple connections on the digitizer. I first disconnected the two smaller ribbon cables. The ghost touches remained after rebooting. I then disconnected the larger cable above them and the ghost touches stopped.
I think I'll look into a replacement digitizer.

I'm having serious problems with my touchsreen...I was working ok until the last Update, now looks like that someone is touching the screen in the area around 1 inch from bottom up of the screen,,,
The problem makes the tablet behave really weird and sometimes seems impossible to work with it...
PLEASE HELP
Try restarting the tablet or doing a cold boot (power on holding the power key and volume down),
If the problem persists, you may have a faulty unit.

Don't push Vol+ after doing the Vol-/Power combination, and the unit will automatically cold boot after the text appears.
While it may be a software issue it may also just be weird timing. I had the same issue on mine where it looked like phantom touches on the screen and it happened right after the .26 update. Hard boot, factory reset etc did not clear up the issue. It started randomly but soon happened all the time. Sent it back to Asus, they repaired it (bad digitizer) and sent it back in 2 weeks.

I selected the option to show the area where the screen is been touched... and when the problem apears... a line of white dots apears in the screen ( meaning that the tablet feels that is been touched in that line)...
Right now the tablet seems to be working ok but I'm sure that the problem is not solved.... I will do some observation and will give more clues latter...

There is a known twitchyness problem that happens when it is charging. I just sent mine in today hoping to get it fixed under warrrenty. Mine does the magic finger dance too, but it goes away if you gently flex the screen one way or the other. I can also make the problem happen by flexing it the other way. So its a hardware issue for me.

After updating OTA the other day (I've always been on stock firmware), my tablet seemed to be working fine. However, once I connect the dock sections of my touchscreen become unresponsive. I can still scroll and click with the touchpad on my dock and parts of the touchscreen still work. This only started happening after the update - without the dock my touchscreen works perfectly (unless I connect the dock first, in which case I need to restart my tablet before the screen works again).
I'm not sure if this is an issue with the update or if anyone else has experienced the same problems. Hopefully someone will know what's up.
Any help is appreciated!
Edit: Was playing around a bit and realized I could "fix" it by locking/unlocking the tablet with the dock connected...so I suppose it's not a hardware issue but rather a problem with the new update.

After the 4.2 update, my tablet has also become totally incapable of working with the dock connected.
Everything stops working as soon as I connect it; Seems even worse than what you're experiencing.
I hope Asus knows this, because I am sure it has to do with their update, not my tablet
Mmmmhh... So far for quality control? I really do feel f r you guys, asn many of you will not have been able to unlock, and therefore cannot go the custom route. (Especially sad for you, adelancker, since your tablet was unlocked originally!)

with the dock connected? You can't
Without the dock connected, yes, and got no results
Hahaha, Asus really messed up good.
@MartyHulskemper I have been able to unlock after a lot of whining!
But still, the problem originated from before the unlocking itself...
But you might have given me an idea!!!!
I can try and:
1) make a nandroid
2) go back to 4.1 Cromi
3) connect the dock: see if that works
and then try to
4) flash 4.2 Cromi-X on it with the dock connected.
Maybe that'd help?

Did you apply the update with the dock detached?
Have you tried rebooting with the dock attached? If that does not solve it, I would reflash the last update with the tablet docked.

The update was applied without the dock. I tried a factory reset to no avail - although, cold-booting a few times seemed to make the problem less frequent. Restarting with the dock connected had no effect.
Strangely enough, I noticed the system bar lock was enabled by default (it was disabled before the update), once I disabled it again I noticed an immediate difference in the performance of my tablet. Much less frequent lag/unresponsiveness with the dock connected - No idea why this would make a difference though

I can say that I did that update to 4.2 without dock, I am afraid.
I have tried rebooting, but it just won't boot as long as the dock's connected...
I have the same thing* . Tried many things hard reset, cold boot, downgrade..but unfortunately nothing helps :/
Now I want to drain completely battery-especially in mobile dock
*The same thing means tablet is unresponsive when dock connected(I can't: boot with it, lock scren, neither make factory reset)
Fortunetly I still have warranty, but can't give it now, because I need it for holidays. So did you find something that could help me?
Temporary solution is downgrade to 4.1(10.4.2.20), then it doesn't lag and I can use USB port so I can have keyboard and mouse, but this isn't mobile solution.. (sometimes it also charges from dock-I think when tablet battery is below 90% , but when dock is connected to charger, then it charges whole time)
I don't remember if I made update with or without dock connected.
Hi All
Im having an issue with my tf300t's touchscreen, my first issue was the device would fail to turn on but after i finally get it to turn on i get a random issue.
when the device is fully booted and i touch the screen it restarts, i have done a factory reset and it still does it.
I used the keyboard/mouse to disable screen timeout, and it will stay on with no issues untill i touch the screen.
Could this be a touchscreen drivers issue? if so how would i update them?
I'm currently running the latests stock rom, unrooted.
Any ideas guys/gals.
Try using the small reset hole close to the sdcard slot.
Most people suggest using a paperclip, but at least German paperclips are too thick. You'll have to find something going into that small hole.
Make sure you feel the noticeable bumb of the reset switch, then hold it down for a while.
Not sure it will help, but worth a try.
You need to be rooted for flashing a new touchscreen firmware. Check out this thread:

Since a week ago I've been getting a really weird and annoying problem with the mobile dock keyboard. When I try to type it gives me weird combinations of numbers and letters, also some of the keys don't work either. The touchpad as well as the USB port work fine.
I've already tried to get the dock battery drained, then fully charged, reset the tablet several and also did a factory reset today. Nothing seems to help. As a last resort I opened up the dock hoping to find some sort of connector not plugged correctly or some other visual indication of something broken but everything seems fine.
I'm running a stock 4.2.1 ROM and the MobileDock version is DOCK-EC20N-0207.
In the attached image you'll see the result of the alphabet and the numbers 1 to 0.
I've searched all over xda and Google but no solution or similar problem. Help? :crying:
Anyone? At all? I'm at wits end and currently not able to spend money on a new one.

Lol, if only I had a ouija board. I do have a sledgehammer though
Btw, I found a DOCK-EC20N-0207.rom somewhere. Any idea how I can get my TF300T to reinstall this? I currently have TWRP 2.5 installed on it right now, still figuring things out but I suspect that TWRP can do this for me?
edit: I'm beginning to think that there is no cure for my docking station and that it has a hardware issue rather than a software/firmware issue. Out of frustration I wiped *everything* using TWRP, then uploaded a stock Asus 4.2.1 firmware, put back TRWP 2.8.0.1 on it, wiped cache/dalvik once more. But no luck ... still jibberish when typing using the docking station.
I'll leave this for new years eve to cover this thing in firecrackers.
there was a thread about dock not working at all - solution was to open the keyboard and make sure that ribbon connector is firmly in its place.
I am not sure if it is phisically possible to plug it reversed (or off by some pins) but that might be causing your issues.
Either this or that robbon got cut and some lines inside it are not really working now.

I've seen that post and no that was not the solution to my problem. Mine started out of the blue (tablet or docking station never got dropped or hit), plus I still opened it up to check all of the connectors for any sign of cuts, disconnecting, possible dust (which is not possible due to the way these are built, lol). It's also impossible to plug the cables back in reversed anyway. My keyboard is sort of functioning (in a scrambled kind of way) unlike the other guys problem which wasn't working at all.
Hello everyone,
i'm experiencing a problem with my shield tablet since couple days ago. My touch screen is not working. Up until yesterday i had to reboot in order to make it to work but now even when I'm rebooting is not working.
I tried to reset to factory setting but it's still the same. I'm curently running lollipop. Does anyone has a solution?
Thanks in advance for your replys guys.!
Does the screen work when you restart it in bootloader mode?

hopefully you get a good answer mine is starting to lose multitouch at times.
Then your device is sadly broken.
Just RMA it to Nvidia, they will replace it swiftly.
I've just got this issue today. Using my tablet normally and suddenly the screen touches aren't executed or responsive. I haven't updated to lollipop still using Kitkat 4.4.2
I am on my second shield tab and multi-touch is a problem. For example, in a game with analog joystick on left side of screen and pressing the action buttons on the right side to not both work at the same time. Happens on multiple games. Is this a known issue and is there a way to calibrate or correct it? Thanks.
EDIT: i just did a touch screen calibrate and that fixed it. good to go for now
