Does rooting without using a custom ROM trip Knox? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I want to root my GS6 but i'm not sure if it will trip the Knox counter or not. If I don't use a custom ROM with the root, I just keep using the one that it came with, will KNOX be tripped?

If you are on 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 you have to Trip Knox. I remember there is a engineering Bootloader somewhere which allows you to root without tripping Knox. But not sure about this.

Root G920FXXU2BOFJ without tripping KNOX?

Hey dudes,
I'm relatively new to Samsung devices, so I have few big questions.
1. Is it possible to root the new firmware G920FXXU2BOFJ without tripping KNOX counter?
2. If there is a way to root but only with tripping KNOX, can I somehow reset the counter and go back to 100% stock without any traces?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a method using PingPong Root however you need to be on 5.0.2. If not then unfortunately there is no way to root at the moment without tripping knox.
I know about PingPong Root. But I'm asking to root 5.1.1! ?

Okay, thanks. Is there any way to reset the KNOX counter (like TriangleAway), e.g. when I flash a stock rom will that reset the counter??

There is currently no way to reset the counter at the moment. I am sure some devs will figure it out at some point.
Alright! Thanks a bunch....Guess that means waiting for me

[NEED UPDATE]Root N915G Without tripping knox?

Hi,
I know this has been posted a few times before but i was looking for an update.
I am looking to root my N915G without tripping the knox counter as i have only just got it and still want a valid warranty. I am aware that if i downgrade to kitkat i might be able to use kingroot to root without tripping knox but ideally i want to keep lollipop. I have tried all of the rooting apk's however all of them fail.
Is there any temporary solution that could work without tripping knox?
Thanks,
Alex
I would love that 2!

Rooting S6

Hey guys
I recently acquired my S6 . I was wondering if someone could instruct me on how to root it? I don't mind tripping Knox or voiding warranty. I found rooting instructions but I'm not sure they work on my build and I don't want to mess up my phone. Please assist me in rooting. Build details are in screens hot below
I have the same problem. The current how-to is so outdated that i don't dare to root my phone using that.
And yes those builds complicate things.
same here I wanna root my S6 marshmallow without tripping KNOX
If you don't mind tripping KNOX the root is pretty simple. Just flash this file by Chainfire with Odin and you are done. However you can't root without tripping KNOX.

Nope

What can I do without tripping Knox?

Wondering what I can do on my S6 that doesn't trip Knox, if anything. Running Android 5.1.1 (just downgraded from 6.0.1).
Would love to be able to run a custom rom like LineageOS and have perm root, but if that requires tripping Knox, its not worth it to me.
