Downgrade from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1? G920W8 - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Given I have a bootloader version 6.0.1, it doesn't let me downgrade to 5.1.1.
Is there any way to do it?

yws, but what version number? you can find it in settings

Android version: 6.0.1
Baseband version: G920W8VLU3CPF2
Kernel version: 3.10.61-7610624
[email protected] #1
Build number: XtreStoLite Deo Mod v3.3 - DPDP

do you use original samsung cable? do not touch a phone during operation. Try to flash with same 6.0.1, and check, is everything goes ok.

Yes I'm able to flash with the stock rom for 6.0.1 without problems.

what stock version did you flashed? If there is #4, like 4DPG, when you can't return to 5.1.1, because samsung changed boot loader.

I flashed the stock version 6.0.1. G920W8VLU3CPF2_G920W8OYA3CPF2_G920W8VLU3CPF2_HOME.tar
Basically it's the rom from Bell. I think they're all the same given it's from a Canadian company. My company (Rogers) simply didn't release one yet, but Bell and Telus have. I've been told it's the same rom so it's safe to flash.
What is #4 or 4DPG?
What can I do now to return to 5.1.1.?

Hi there, you should download smart switch and use emergency firmware recovery, From there you should click 'more' then click emergency software recovery. Key in your device SM-G920W8 then input your serial number (Found on your device Box) then voila, it should download the latest firmware for you.

well, pointing him in a more accurate direction would be much better i guess, no harm intended!
I had a similar issue the solution for me was to install twrp 2.8.7.1 recovery using Odin as my phone lacked stock recovery and would not flash firmware as a consequence.
Sent from my SM-G920W8 using XDA Free mobile app
Nothing has worked yet do i need a pit file?

maybe you should consider bringing your device to Samsung?
I have the exact same problem right now. SM-G920F, tried to root, epic fail, tried to unroot, still a disaster. Smart Switch won't recognize my phone. Trying to download the latest firmware now, but it takes so long.. -_- will keep you posted if I find anything that works!

Supposedly you can't flash that 5.0.2 firmware is because your bootloader is already 5.1.1, therefore you can't downgrade the software, but i saw on Sammobile that Canada is going to get the update soon, so i guess you can use Smart Switch's emergency recovery to restore your phone soon.
So when you started what baseband were you on? Did you update to 5.1.1 I don't care if you did it via a ROM just did you update to 5.1.1 officially or did your phone come with 5.1.1 if it did you need to download the 5.1.1 firmware not the 5.0.2 firmware because of the new bootloader.
Edit: You could always use my guide which can be found here to make your own tar file that doesn't flash any bootloader only system, kernel, and recovery you will also get the latest Note 5 UI this may help you in case everything else fails.

Were you ever able to get this to work? I"m having the same problem.
Thanks!
I just spent a couple days unbricking an s6, and the way I was able to do it was to load a version of TWRP that finally worked. From there using Odin I was able to flash stock firmware, however I had downloaded several different stock firmware versions until I got one to work with Odin. All the others just gave me an error. So just keep trying different versions of stock until you get one that works.

Sorry for my poor English...

Yeah man, I just used Kies to resotre my carrier's firmware. All is well. I actually upgraded to an S7.

[Resolved][S6 SM-G920P won't boot] Kernel & Binary problems

I have a friend's phone a SAMSUNG S6 (SM-G920P) that won't boot, because he took it to some phone repair shops that have messed it more than it already is. I have this on the boot screen :
Code:
Kernel is not seandroid enfrocing.
Custom binary is blocked by FRP lock.
The first thing I've done is download a stock rom : G920PVPU1AOCF_G920PSPT1AOCF_G920PVPU1AOCF_HOME.tar.md5 and I tried to flash it via ODIN3.10.6, but I keep getting a fail message :
Code:

And this on the phone :
Code:
SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 3, BINARY: 1
Then, after searching online for this problem, I found out that I've been using the wrong stock firmware. But there is no way for me to check the modem and bootloader version, I tried fastboot but it keeps waiting for the device. I tried SmartSwitch and Kies, then can't find my device, and when I try using the model number (SM-G920P) and the serial number which is the MEID I found in the download mode>Home button (only that with the barcode), I get that this S/N is invalid. I really don't know what to do next, and I wish that someone could help me.
Thanks a lot!
Downloaded last firmware and flashed it. All things working fine, thanks.
