Dropped my Idol 3 4.7 into the toilet in a bar while on holiday in Spain last week, got it out quickly yet damage was done, the camera flash was flickering and the phone vibrated, wouldn't turn off (damn sealed units to hell) when i got it back to our villa, i put it in a bag of rice and after 3 days i charged it and it eventually sprang into life, all is well yet the camera flash is now constantly on yet dimmed, doesn't seem to affect the battery, also the headphone jack is broken now, no sound from it whatsoever, don't know what to do with it, time to upgrade i suppose. I still have my Lumia 735, yet i need my bust ticket app and it's not available on windows (surprise!) thinking of the new moto g, or moto e (£99 UK) anyone have advice?

I woke up this morning and found my phone was mildly wet on the bottom. I slid open the keyboard to make sure it wasn't wet everywhere and it wasn't. After I dried off the bottom and started using it it began getting wet again. When I opened the battery cover to investigate I found the source of the liquid and immediately pulled the battery out. There is now discoloration on the battery and inside the battery hutch. The battery appears to have stopped leaking this liquid but it has only been an hour. I am obviously concerned that this has damaged my phone. The phone was working though when I checked my email and discovered it was wet.
When I researched it said Lithium ion batteries aren't supposed to leak but this is the only explanation I can come up with. The phone wasn't near water and since the top half of the phone wasn't wet, this must be the case.
Is my phone damaged?
Can I use the old battery from the TP2 (both batteries say RHO160 on them)?
Very strange. Can't you just swap it out at a Sprint location?
ummm get that switched out immediately. new battery, new phone, whatever...just get it taken care off. That ain't good at all.
I can't just go to a sprint store because I don't live in the US heh. My phone is unbranded so I'm waiting for HTC to respond.
The phone is still working fine but I'm using the battery from my TP2 and it's been working since early afternoon yesterday. I'm still worried it might start acting up though, fingers crossed.
I have 5 Arrives (five members of the family, each with their own......I really do like the phone). One of our phones gets excessively hot when charging via USB from a computer (but not when charging via the wall plug). How were you charging it?
Even still, I suspect there is some sort of power management issue in some of them phones.
I was charging from the wall plug, not from USB. The only time my phone gets warm is if I'm playing games on it for over an hour .
What happened to your battery mate. My phone also heats up a bit more these days and I am interested in what to expect.
Cheers,
Hi,
I own a moto g which accedentally dropped in water. i took it off and it was working fine for few min. After some time i noticed some water inside my screen and my touch was not working. I left my phone for some time. After an hour when i restarted my phone my touch was working. To dry down the water, i kept my phone under shady sun light for about 2 hours. Now when i try to switch it on the led light is blinking 3 times as if it do when the battery drains. I tried to charge my phone and now the LED light is blinking and later it stopped.
my doubt is If my circuits are crashed will the LED light blink. Because i used my phone before if completely dried off.
Can any one say weather to keep hopes on my phone of getting it back or not.
I also had the same problem on the same day you faced, On 31st jan 2015, by mistake I dropped my phone inside a tub full with water, I took it out immediately it was working fine then but after 10 minutes the battery % got down from 30% to 11% suddenly, then I dried it off in the sunlight for almost 2 hours and also kept it in rice for 2 to 3 hours it worked fine but at night when I was talking to a friend the phone suddenly got disconnected and no sims detected message came up then I switched it off and tried restarting it but it never did, then I removed the sims and kept it open under the fan for the whole night and next day I went to the official service centre and handed it over to them it is now in the service centre and they told me that the motherboard is damaged, I did not mentioned anything about the water damage actually, I told them only that my phone is not restarting, since my phone is under warranty the company will provide the motherboard chip and I don't have to pay anything but the thing is that I am very sad because I had recently updated it to lollipop 5.0.2 which was amazing I was really enjoying it but suddenly this happened and I don't think my phone will be the same which it was......:crying::crying
Posted in the wrong thread.
@sivasis Also its not right to deceive moto, you dropped in water and didn't tell them. It was your fault that its damaged not theirs. That's fraud bud.

@alex_is_the_1 I am not blaming Motorola company the thing Is I am just sad that I had many important things in my phone and I loved my phone, the service centre people are taking a lot of time to repair it any day I call them they will just answer that it will take 10 more days and I am pissed. :crying: :crying: :crying: , I am feeling very bad without my phone actually.

I never said you blamed them, I simply said you are deceiving them. If you look under the warranty conditions warranty is void of you caused the malfunction. Which you did by dropping it in water. It may have been an accident but moto does not legally have to fix your mess up. Understand?

You must have had disassemble the device (specially the battery) first then clean it with lacquer thinner before you dry.
Or better to take it in Service Center.
@alex_is_the_1 Whatever be the matter the good thing is today I got my mobile fully repaired and I did not have to pay anything and the bad thing is it has kitkat 4.4.4 version, I have to again download that lollipop update
My AT&T edge wont turn on today. I awoke to a phone that was charging all night while on like normal, screen was off, charge LED was green, but the power button would not wake the screen.
Things that I have experienced before the problem and tried after:
About 5 months ago my camera stopped recording videos randomly. I could not record a video of any quality for more than 5-10mins in varying duration's the camera would just stop working and drop back to home screen no error message.
about a month ago my Edge started having a camera failed problem where using the camera sometimes "failed" where the app would freeze the whole phone for a few seconds then would crash to home screen.
about a week ago attempting to use the crippled camera to take a quick pic would drain a upto 70% filed battery instantly and it would take normal time to charge it like it was really dead. first and only time it has done this with over %40 battery
last week i unlocked the phone and put it on T-mobil and flashed 5.1.1 worked fine for 6 days still had camera problems was thinking new battery would fix it.
all this week battery could die at random times mostly below 40% but I was still getting 6-7hours a day from it, i figured it was a bad battery at the root of all this.
After this morning it would not power on I tried to power it with a hacked up USB cable, nothing.
My multi-meter says the battery has 4.37V
Would someone with a little more experience tell me if they think it's worth it to buy a new mobo, battery, and camera replacement for this phone or is it a waste of time? Is my line of thinking right is this a mainboard problem? If I attempt a repair does it make sense to try a new camera module?
This phone has never been dropped or wet it's in perfect condition as far as aesthetics go. Is it common for a phone to just not turn on at the end of its life?

If you think you have to do all that replacement, might as well go to swappa and buy a relatively good condition Edge which will prbly be cheaper than trying to get all those replacement parts. Unless you know where to get cheap replacements.
Bought my current TMobile variant from Swappa. No issues so far. you could also try Amazon

Swappa I'll check that out thanks
I tried a oven re-flow on the main board at 410F still no go.
I broke my phone into pieces a few months back, took a pretty back fall from the fourth floor window. I love this beast and took it upon myself to recover it. So I bought a new screen and frame. It looked like new. When I tried to power it on, nothing happened. I suspected the battery, which had already shown some signs of dying prior, and attributed it to months without charge. I ordered a new one, that came today...
Still no power. However something happens , like with the old one: sometimes the flashlight comes on when I tried to charge it. I can feel the heat in the motherboard.
What can I do???? ? Is it time to give up on my OPO?
Hello,
I went to a local repair shop that can replace my Google Pixel 2 battery. Since the battery got worse after 1 and a half year I decided to let it replace it.
So after it got replaced I noticed some weird issues and I don't know what I should do now.:
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
First issue, somehow the sim tray is broken and it felt stuck. It doesn't pop out anymore and now I broke it and the SIM card is still there (does work btw).
The second issue is that the phone gets hot for no reason with some use with mobile data. It gets hot in the upper area of the phone right next to the sim card and in where the fingerprint sensor is.
Also around the top of the camera area.
I mean it wasn't like that before. It could get hot when I was playing games but NEVER when I was with mobile data on twitter for a few minutes. Now after I watched a 5 minutes video, damn it got a bit warm/hot (tendency more to hot).
The third issue is that the phone doesn't charge when it's completely turned off! There is the charging animation but the juice doesn't get up high (It remains where it got charged). Only when I turn the phone on it will charge normally.
Just what happened? Its a fresh new original battery? I don't want to go to the repair shop again just to get charged with more money and other issues.
Anyone any advice or just buy a new phone?
