[Completed] Looking for Lollipop for Irulu X7 tablet..... - XDA Assist

I want to run a newer firmware on my kids android Irulu X7 tablets with the sole purpose of being able to run the playstation vue app on them. They run kitkat 4.4.4 right now. I have an HTC One M8 that was rooted and running 4.4.2 and then I unrooted and did the RUU update to Marshmallow 6.0 so I am a little familiar with bootloader and rooting, etc., but by no means an expert. I do have some sdk/adb software on my computer that I was using with the HTC. So once again my goal is either get Playstation Vue running as is on their tablets or update firmware to get it running. Playstation says that the Vue app supports 4.4 and up, but tech couldn't solve my problem. I solved it for my phone, but their tablets don't have as much info. The app just says device isn't supported right now. I mention Lollipop because my wife's moto x is running that and the app works on her's.
Let me know any additional info you need and I'll get it.
Robert
PS Big thanks the guys on this forum. Got a lot of info while doing M8 stuff from here.

[Q] I need help (Im a complete noob at this)

Hi I need help with my Samsung galaxy Q SGH-T589R. I want to update its Android version. I tried updating it from keis but it says that my device is not supported for updating via Keis. My android version is 2.2.2. I have no idea what a ICS is but I want to try it. But before that I need some info on it. Please help me with this I am a complete noob at this. My internal memory is also ****ed up. I dont even have many apps :/. I have about 30 mb free >.<. Also im using a SD card with 2 gb space.
Alright, Android 4.0.X is referred to as Ice Cream Sandwich also known as ICS, it's not a new android platform but it's not old either.
To able to run android 4.0.X your device needs to be able to run it. What comes down to this stage is the specs of your phone. If your phone doesn't not have any support for newer android versions such as ICS, then updating to it will be quite tricky or maybe even impossible.
If your device has developers and or modders that spare their time to make these aftermarket versions of the newer platforms. Then you're in luck, but beforehand you must have root access, a custom recovery installed and you need your bootloader unlocked to continue with the process of an aftermarket firmware update.
If the manufacturer of your device which in this case is Samsung, decides to release an OTA ( Over The Air ) update. Simply go to Settings>About>System Update. If there are any new updates it should appear there. And the rest can be handled from there.
I know very little about Samsung Kies, but if it says it does not support your device then automatically assuming you won't be able to install anything using it.
Hopefully I helped and answered your questions.
PS : Space may also be a problem as new platforms may be bigger than old platforms. ICS is defiantly larger than Froyo ( 2.2.x )

Is there ICS for your device? If so is it an official update by your manufacturer or is it an aftermarket one made by a user?

Don't think an upgrade from 2.2 to ics would work very well. Doubt you'll get an official ota update from Samsung.

Yeah sadly the Q was not popular and i dont think it even received a Gingerbread rom, your best bet is to find a deodexed rom, what it is is its still stock android 2.2.2 but it has removed all the bloatware and apps that samsung or t-mobile has put on it that you dont use and gives you more free space.

HELP - Trying to root LG G pad 7.0 LTE version

I have been pouring through fourms for about a week, trying to figure out if it is possible to root my tablet and install Cyanogenmod on it. So far I have not had very good luck with any of the methods that I have found. There is a stable snapshot, along with nightly's for this tablet, so there has to be a way that it can be done. Any help would be appreciated.
Tablet specs:
LG-V410 running on AT&T
currently on Android 5.0.2 lollipop
I am happy to provide anything else that might be needed.

I've tried it using Purple Drake, I fails out at the beginning and just reboots the tablet. I have tried several methods that have also said that my device isn't compatible somehow. I'm wondering if it might be because it just recently updated to android 5.0.2 Lollipop. I liked the tablet until it updated, and now it runs slow as crap, and won't update apps properly.

Please help (Z3v android upgrade)

Hello everyone
I'm now using xperia z3v
My device is now running android 4.4.4
I want to upgrade it to Lolipop 5.0
Can anyone help me to upgrade it ?
Thanks
If you are having good luck with 4.4.4 i would stay with it.
I upgraded to the leaked 5.0 and had a lot of problems with wifi speeds, some random reboots, and some other quirky things. That is just my opinion though.

Now that I am in lollipop I am not having problems, but there were a few steps along the way where I was stuck or thought I bricked my phone. Not worth the drama or hassle for lollipop. And I'm one of the ones who always wants the most up-to-date of anything.

Stupid questions late at night

Hi, I'm looking at getting a 32GB XT1080M to use as a test phone for roms, and possibly to develop on... As such I want to have one with an unlocked bootloader, but I haven't seen one for sale.
The Sunshine website states any 2013 Droid running 4.4.3 or below IS unlockable, so as long as I don't buy one running 4.4.4, I should be safe, right?
Second, I seem to recall something about being able to tell versions by the different storage sizes - something like all 16GB models came with 4.4.4 factory-installed. Is that correct? I thought I had bookmarked those threads but I can't find them at the moment.
Hi,
4.4.4, build 4-21 is the last one that can be bootloader unlocked with Sunshine. Go for that or anything below (4.4 or 4.4.2).
I advise that you ask the seller before purchasing to verify the version (Android version, System version and Build number), then search it if it can be unlocked.

Thanks for that detail. I certainly am asking, though it's not always easy. The seller I'm currently talking to keeps replying that they can install the Android version I want. Which means that it's either not updated to 4.4.4, or that they think you can downgrade from it.
Yeah, not easy with sellers who don't know a thing about their devices... I hope you find a device with an appropriate version or a developer edition.

nagim, would you also happen to know which release prevented downgrading to older versions?
I was under the impression that was a KitKat limitation, in which case I would pretty much have to find a phone still on 4.2.2 to be able to do any work with JellyBean. Is that correct?

How do i update kitkat phone to lollipop?

I have a android phone currently running kitkat 4.4.2. I want to update it to lollipop. How is it possible?
My phone is called i-mobile i-style 210. I am sure it will be hard because this is a VERY small company only in southeast asia. i really want help because 4.4.2 is really bad and its slow
I am very new to rooting etc. so please be noob friendly.
It is highly unlikely that there would be an upgrade, even a custom one, available for that device. Do use the search function on XDA though, to check if someone with the same model has managed to find something
