Yeah. Title.
So I just recently rooted my (Verizon Snapdragon variant if it matters) S7 and noticed a few things were off. The immense slowdown, overheating, and just general bugginess reminiscent of old android 3.0 - 4.0. Not only this, but Apps wouldn't install on my phone unless I used the Play Store on my PC, or maybe the install button on an apk would work. Now, I'm no fan of nostalgia if it prevents me from using my phone, so I did the only logical solution and just factory reset my device. Now, speed is fixed, temps... seem to be normal, however the install button on apks don't work all the time, and the Play Store still doesn't work. To specify, If I try to install a free app/update, it says downloading for what seems like eons, then finally crashes. If I try to purchase an app, it spits out "The Google Play Store has stopped working" and freezes up until I force close it. I've cleared the cache and everything and it still doesn't seem to work. Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: FORGOT TO MENTION! I installed BuildProp editor to fix the problem with my wifi forgetting the password after I disconnect (ro.securestorage.support = false). deleted /efs/ss_data and returned secure.storage to true. thing is, it still didn't work before or after this wifi fix.
REV. 3: I think it started after flashing xposed framework with chainfire's own Flashfire app.
REV. 4: No dice, it won't work if I use my cellphone data either. So it's definitely not 3rd party (Router, ISP, ect.)
EDIT LUCKY NUMERO 5: Got it to pop an error at me while trying to reinstall ES File Explorer. Error code: 920
[C/P straight from redit because I'm lazy and I'm getting zero help there.]
I'm having the wifi issue as well, retrying the buildprop method again to see if I did something wrong but I dont' think so.

I just bought the Atrix 2 few days back and I notice that after the phone has been started for a while, and I restart my phone, the APK cannot be installed anymore.
Model: MB865
Android Version: 2.3.6
Kernal Version: 2.6.35.7-g313792c
Build Number: 5.5.1-EDEM-27
Details below:
1st Attempt:
- Bought the phone and transferred my SD card with my previous phone apps backup in APK.
- Did the initial phone setup by tagging the phone to my google account, went into Google Market to install a battery status apps, surf some web, etc.
- Restart the phone and when the phone turns back on, tried select the APK file, enable the "Allow install of non-Market applications" and continue with the apk installation. It came out the permission page with [INSTALL] & [CANCEL] button at the bottom. Tried touching the [INSTALL] but no response. It's like a dummy button. Then [CANCEL] will exit the permission page.
- Tried other apps in APK, same issue.
- Called Motorola support line and she asked me to Factory Data Reset my phone from the Privacy in the Setting page.
2nd Attempt:
- Initial setup my phone as per usual by tagging the phone to my google account. Once the phone started, immediately, I use the file manager to browse my APK backup folder and install some apps with no issue. The [INSTALL] button can be clicked and apps installed properly.
- Use the phone for a while, restart the phone and turn back on... tried install other APK again... same issue happened, the [INSTALL] button became a dummy button again.
- Factory Data Reset my phone from the Privacy in the Setting page again to try again.
3rd Attempt:
- Suspect that it may be automatically downloading some apps from the google store, so this time round, I just turn on the phone without tagging to any of my account, not even my google account so that the phone should not automatically download apps from the market that may clashed with the system.
- Use the phone to do basic web surfing for a while, and then restart the phone.
- Phone restarted and try to install APK files, same issue happened again.
With the above tries, I suspected the issue (APK cannot be installed because [INSTALL] button cannot be clicked) is not due to any apps conflicting the system, but maybe some hidden updates download from google unknowingly that is incompatible to the Android system.
Further findings shows that my bro has a Atrix 1 and I asked him to restart his phone to try install some APKs, same issue with [INSTALL] button.
My 2 other friends has a LG Optimus One and LG Optimus Black, both running Android as well. I asked both to restart their phone and try to install some APKs, and everything works fine.
I seriously think that there are some conflict with the some google "hidden" update, maybe Play Google?, that disabled the [INSTALL] button as initially when phone factory resetted is ok. If this is the case, no point to go down Motorola repair centre as they cannot do anything as well until new updates from Motorola available.
Will anyone with Atrix 1 or Atrix 2 phones kindly check if you have such issue? Restart your phone 1st if the initial attempt is working as the update may activate only after the phone is restarted, such as the icon changing Google Market to Play Google, that disable the [INSTALL] button when installing APKs.
Let me know if you have a non-rooted solution, ok? Do not intend to root my phone yet. Thank you.
Have you install screen adjuster??

Hmmm. I think this may be somethign to do with your service area, not the devices. My phone has the Google Play update and installs APK files just fine. I've done multiple reboots to try and replicate your issue and can't. But the fact that you say it happens on your Atrix 2 AND your brother's Atrix 4G makes me think something in your area is giving you a corrupted update. Don't know if that could be the case for sure, as I'm not an AT&T or Motorola employee, but for two different devices with two different chipsets to have the same issue, I'd think it's a corrupt download.
Its happened to my A2 as well. I got frustrated w/ it so i rebooted into recovery, wiped data & cache. Problem solved for me.

I had the same problem on my Atrix 2.
The following appears to have fixed it for me:
1) go to Settings->Applications
2) uncheck "Unknown Sources"
3) try to install (you'll get an error)
4) go back and recheck "Unknown Sources"
5) try to install again
The "Install" button now works, and keeps working.
this works

I have troubled with the same priblem and after read this post i tried to close screen adjuster and it works .. thank you
Screen Filter app also generates this problem
Thanks for this thread. I found screen filter also has the same effect. So, before installing any apk, just close screen filter if active and then install. Works without any problem.
If you have screen filter installed then plz disabled it and try to install.

Same problem with At&T Note 2
I've been reading all the "solutions" to the dead INSTALL button and I don't have any screen filters installed. I did get the "Unknown Source" installation to work once after I froze the Google Account Manager app. Unfortunately it only worked once. I've done all the "basics" over and over.

Go to settings apps then look under the all apps tab and find google play, click on that, then force stop, clear data, and remove updates.
Next go back and launch the google play store again and link it to your goolge account when it asks you to. Also of course agree to the terms and let google play update again. Now try and see if that fixes this a little more permanently for you. I had this issue back in GB when the google play store updated to version 3 and changed to the google play store from google apps and this worked for me.
Thank you jimbridgman. That didn't seem to be a permanent solution, although I may have done something wrong. This is what worked for me:
It appears that many apps have something to do with screen "filtering" or sensitivity that can cause this problem. After going through many of my apps and "freezing" them I came upon Gesture Launcher. Freezing that has solved my problem, at least for now. My fingers are crossed. I'm posting this to help others if they may have the same problem.
Once again thanks for helping and if my problem reoccurs I'll try your solution again.
LOL it happened to me today. the culprit is screen adjuster app.! Disabled it and I could install!
Honestly, not sure that this has to do with my transformer, but my tf101 seems to be the only device affected by the following problem:
When i go to google play, if i try to install an app that i had purchased in the past, it stays stuck on download and doesn't even start. I tried to redownload the same apps on other devices (lg 2X for example) and it works fine. My transformer did work fine until last week as well.
I've got no idea of what could be causing this, any suggestions? I tried switching back and forth from different google accounts but the problem persists. Reinstalling google play didn't work either.
Edit: it would look like redownloading certain apks works, seems like it only doesn't work with larger apk files (> 2mb, but it may be a coincidence). I'm even more confused now
Edit2: The issue is definitely related to apk dimension. Can't install from market apks larger than 20mbs. How is this possible? i'm still on honeycomb stock to avoid the ics mess, and i can remember downloading large apks fine just few months ago. Any solution?
You could try wiping your cache, force closing play, and if you're rooted wipe market stats in Titanium Backup, that should probably fix it.
Also try the install button off of a computer, and then it sends to your tf, that might get it to work.
Regarding large files... is your wifi connection decent?
Also, make sure you are able to connect and login to Talk. The Play store doesn't work properly unless you can log Talk, been there a few times. With mine, even trying to install free apps would give a purchasing error because Talk connection was getting interrupted before logging in.
This issue has just started happening to me over the past 2-3 days, and I cannot figure out a permanent fix for it! Let me start by saying that my OPO is not rooted, and the only updates to the ROM have been the official ones that have been released (I'm currently on CM version 11.0-XNPH44S). Every time I attempt to open the Play Store, it crashes immediately afterward with the "unfortunately google play store has stopped" error. I looked at the error report and it states : [CRASH] com.android.vending threw java.lang.IllegalArguementException as the subject then the first line of the content reads: "java.lang.illegalarguementexception: view android.widget.listview{41ab7730 VFED.VC. .F...... 0,0-1080,1845 #7f0a02dd app:id/play_drawer_list} is not a drawer".
I know nothing about Java, so I have no idea what this means, and there are 18 lines of equally incomprehensible text after that. I've tried clearing the data, cache, etc. from the app with no change. The only thing that works is when I uninstall the updates, taking the Play Store back to v. 4.9.13. However, in almost all cases it auto-updates immediately back to 5.1.1, so I'm still not able to use it. I read somewhere about disabling the background data usage in settings, but then you're not allowed to download anything from the store.
Is anyone else having the same issue, or can you suggest an idea as to how to fix it without my rooting the device and having to back up the nearly 700 apps I have on it? TYSM in advance!

Hallo ,
I have exactly the same problem and fail to solve,If anyone can help I would be grateful !
Same problem here, any fix yet?
After many long attempts to fix this I have come up empty handed. I believe the Hardware is either corrupted or damaged but need an expert to help confirm. (it doesnt even seem worth it at this point to fix, but i want to try anyways, its my kids tablet) I will add as much detail as possible.
First the tablet would get stuck in booting (A9 screen) found that this is due to a corrupted firmware. I flashed a firmware onto the device and it was able to boot up, however still with a few issues. google play store when updated would instantly crash "google play store has stopped" the second you clicked to use it. the only fix i found for this was to uninstalled the google play store update back to factory and it would worked, with the problem of some apps had to be downloaded over and over until it decided to complete, often finishing with a package file invalid. but i managed to get a few games and whatever and gave it back to my daughter.
after about a week everything crashed at once on boot up. process.google.gapps would crash over and over and over as soon as you click ok, many other apps crashing as well and just repeating google account manager, Key chain, RS OTA, and others i cant remember at this time (the problem is currently not occurring or i would go get this information.) mostly the gapps process was crashed over and over making the tablet unusable due to constantly trying to click these errors.
Odd behaviour, during that i managed to click and quickly select settings, and went in and deleted a bunch of apps or uninstalled updates on ones that were crashing, i could uninstalled enough to stop all the errors.. then i rebooted the tablet.. and all the errors were back, and everything i uninstalled was back too, how the f**k?! lol.
i attempted such things as going into recovery and deleting all the cache and media, nothing. so i flashed it again.
the above error return after some time. and i flashed it again (my daughter wanted it working this seems to be my only quick and temporary fix, i have disabled many apps and stopped it from automatically updating, however i still found some settings after being changed, to be undone back to the way it was before i changed it after rebooting the tablet. again it always crashes when google play store updates. this time i rebooted the tablet and went to update the store, and now the app can NOT be found in the store. there does not even seen like a way to update the tablet like "here is your only buggy version, have fun"
CORRECTION: Google Play Store could not be updated because after restarting the tablet the updates were back, as if i had never uninstalled them. i didnt bother checking the first time because this is very unusual.
I am willing to root, change, hack, smash, throw out the window, put it in the hydraulic press at work...i dont care lol
i believe the hard drive has damage.
(i didnt run thru all the attempts i have made to fix things, cause i could write a novel. Thank you for reading.

Sup fellas just posting this from my phone
Basically I rooted it with CFAUTO root I found on a site that seemed trustworthy due to its credibility found on various sites.
Root works perfectly along with Xposed for awhile but eventually a week later every single app will start force closing, or immediately fail to launch on touch. From instagram to KiK to play store itself.
Rebooting is not a good solution as it resolves into a boot loop.
This has been happening consistently for a few weeks. The only solution to get my phone back up and running is to do a factory reset (which in turn means setting everything up again to my preferences. )
This pretty much led me to leave the phone as it comes plus a few common apps and just rely on my iPad more.
Does anyone have a solution? I followed the tutorial down to the T. Video and guide. I'm considering switching to stock but want to see if anyone else had this issue or was able to fix it
I would say to use this guide.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
Havent tried CFAUTO root, and I dont think its recommended.
I had a similar issue with apps force closing, though I didn't use cfauto root.
The issues I had, after finding out from much trial and error, was that after I rooted my apps would update before Google play services. This would cause problems because the updated apps needed the updated play services to run.
Revert back to stock, then make sure that Google play services is up to date before updating any other app. After play services are up to date, make sure your play store is up to date. Then go ahead and update all of your apps. Next reroot your phone.
Like I said before I didn't use cfauto root, but I hope this helps.
