Can't find a single mention of this phone on XDA (VFD 900). I know it's only been out a couple of weeks, but surely I can't be the first to get one?
http://www.gsmarena.com/vodafone_smart_platinum_7-8154.php
I picked one up today, and I have to say I'm very impressed. I know most will turn up their noses because full price is about the same as the OPO 3, but on contract I got it for free (which is not possible with OnePlus).
I know nothing about development, so I can't do anything to push that forward, but I'm hoping one of the devs on here gets their hands on it, if only to get root working (although Cm based ROMs would be very welcome!).
Anyone else got one yet? Opinions?
Hi!
You're not the only owner this phone! I have one of this too.
I'm satisfied with this stuff, I think it's responsive, and really fast.
But I'm rather waiting for the BootLoader unlock method, cwm, sim unlock, maybe custom rom, etc. !
I found only one description about root 'til now, but I've not tried it yet. (On the sadrdoid.com)
I figured out, to enter recovery mode you've just press the Volume-UP + Power button for a while.
These are my only informations yet.

Vodafone smart Platinum 7 is rebranded ALCATEL ONE TOUCH IDOL 4S, also named OT_VFD 900.
here are the source codes for the kernel, may the fun begins.

Yeah, I found that too, but what can I do with it? Or a dev can use it?
Exactly I tried to make a backup from the stock rom, but I can't communicate with the phone in fastboot mode! I don't know why?!
Adb can restart the phone in bootloader mode, but after that, the "fastboot devices" command don't see the phone. Is it maybe a driver problem?
try to use "fastboot - i 0x1bbb devices"

Thank you so much! It's working! I'd have never found out it!
Maybe "fastboot - i 0x1bbb boot twrp.img" could work for use a twrp recovery without flash the stock recovery and make a backup?
What do yout think?
of course it will work, but you dont have the TWRP recovery. you need the partition table to be able to build the twrp.

Or should I prefer to wait until someone make that?
it is not so easy. you have to have some skills.
But you have all what it takes. Kernel source, the device only a propper DEV is missing.
You can look when someone start the IDOL 4 thread, since the VODAFONE is rebranded IDOL 4. So most likely the root method and the TWRP can be compatible.
Maybe @Unjustified Dev can help, because hes very skille dand made the TWRP for IDOL3. I mentioned him, so maybe he can post some advice.

If you compare hardware of the idol 4 and platinum 7 there is a lot of similarities but also a few differences. Just looking at the bands you can see there are a few kernel changes . There is also some hardware changes .

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to buy an Axon 7, and my second option was the Idol 4S, but it seems that is a little hard to get it and is really expensive here in Europe when comparing with the Smart Platinum 7, is almost the same phone and fortunately I'm with Vodafone.
I would like to know how you guys are doing with the phone, I mean, I'm just a normal user, not interested anymore in development/rooting because Android for me is doing really good since Lollipop. Sometimes I play Hearthstone, CSR2 and Pokemon Go, and use the classical mail and chat stuff.
I would like to know about the general experiences you have with the phone, the camera, the performance., the battery, etc. I have read every single review out there, I even watched a 37 min review and everything seems pretty positive, but I have seen there are some differences as well with the Idol 4S, like the reversible screen, how speakers are arranged (even when both are stereo), tap to wake, boom key, etc.
Besides the good things that we already know about the phone, I would also know the bad parts: I know that fingerprint sensor is not so quick and that the back part of the phone is a finger magnet; would be nice for me to know from other users if there is something else that annoys you or not so good about the phone.
If you could write briefly about what I'm asking, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Going to try these now and will report back
since you have to adress the port to comunicate with the device by adding "-i 0x1bbb" to the fastboot command, and this is missing in all the root and flash twrp guides, i think this will not work at all.

Hey Everyone! I am looking to install stock(Original) Android Lolipop 5.1.1. But don't know how to do that.
The LG OS sucks!
I assume I first have to unlock my bootloader and then root my device. not quite sure which tool will help me do it safely.
Help Anyone?
Locked bootloder at the time... The only you can do is uninstall everything related to lg, with a rooted device, and install any launcher like apex, but its not an aosp, is lg rom with mods...

maybe we can do a port

Yup lol. That's what I went through with the original first G flex... All I had was root and honestly that wasn't even enough but the only reason I stuck with it was because I had no choice and plus the battery like was really amazing getting close to 7hrs SoT.

we can expect something with the g4 unlock.
I think bootloader is almost the same in g4 and flex2, h955 that are unlockeable maybe give us a clue to solve the problem...
I have no problem with lg rom, it works great for me, kernel, for me its the same, but I hate the customization in notification bar, aosp bar is perfect...
Anyway, Im really happy with the phone as is, a custom recovery maybe give us the chance to play a little more keeping us safe

Flashed resurrection remix Rom to my redmi 3s and my sensors are no longer working too (accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope). E.g. the "droid info"-app from the play store shows an empty "sensors" tab...
I guess some work is needed on the sensor-drivers... Solutions? Anyone knows where the dev posts?

I found an august 2012-blog post on fixing sensor problems. I cannot post external links yet but you can find it by googling "how-to-fix-accelerometer-compass-revert" (on androidgadgematic)
The post is old and has dead links, but the procedure seems sound:
extract "working" sensor driver related files of a working rom,
replace "not-working" sensor driver related files on your system - either by either one-by-one replacing them or creating a flashable update.zip
This weekend I'll try to get the sensor related files from the latest official MIUI8-dev-rom. Will post them here (if i'm allowed ). I'll try them on my own phone as well.
Maybe I'm overly enthousiastic, but... If it works I'd like to create a flashable update.zip. Can anybody help me with instructions on creating those? I'm used to hacking around in systemfiles a bit, but never made flashable zips...

@mgrpr - Wow, good to hear! Which files did you replace?
Here are the files from miui_HM3SGlobal_6.8.18_39691b0190_6.0 that seem sensor-related + generic + different from the files in the resurrection rom (checked file hashes).
/system/bin/sensors.qcom
/system/bin/sensorservice
/system/etc/sensors/hals.conf <-- new! (not in resurrection rom)
/system/etc/sensors/sensor_def_qcomdev.conf
/system/lib/libsensorservice.so
/system/lib64/libsensorservice.so
/system/vendor/lib/libmmcamera2_sensor_modules.so
/system/vendor/lib/libsensor1.so
/system/vendor/lib/sensors.ssc.so
/system/vendor/lib64/libsensor1.so
/system/vendor/lib64/sensors.ssc.so
------
EDIT: 2 days later: fixed it! (see here)
Seems I forgot to list /system/lib/hw/sensors.msm8937.so & /system/lib64/hw/sensors.msm8937.so above. Have removed the attachment as it will confuse more than help).

Noone will support someone who just wants a "like" in his personal page on Facebook... Besides, "bootloader" partition is something very fragile...
You want us to like your page before you give us anything? And you're not meant to play around with the bootloader, and I highly doubt you even did.
@reyscott have a look at this thread. ..
May be you will like the OP's Facebook page
He himself doesn't know what he is exactly talking about.
Its bootlogo(custom) that you have framed in the imgur.
There are plenty of them and no one gonna like your page or else.
Guess what he is asking likes for this little work which anyone can do, what would he had asked for if he came up with a custom ROM or something like that...
Give proper references plz we are not omniscient to know what you are talking about.

NO.
As far as I can tell there *are* a branch of docomo XZP that can unlock their bootloader.
Check your motherboard first and if it's bootloader cannot be unlocked just buy a G8141/G8142 board.
Oh there's another way maybe: Work in Sony and sign a rooted firmware with their key and then all are happy

You *can* get rid of docomo bloatware easily with adb and developers mode. That's not a problem and to be honest that's a reason I like sony.
But as far as I can tell, the only "unlock" you can do on these devices is just pluging any SIM card and working on LTE. That's It.
