What is the most stable custom rom for our phone (not smiui)
Cheers
The TS ones are all pretty good except ASOPA which is currently a little shaky (first build...) and here on XDA, the CM and RR builds are both based on the same source and are both very solid now. It's a little early to say on the new SlimRom build but from my initial testing it's superb. Best battery life I've seen so far and buttery smooth .
I'm on a Mi4S though so your mileage may differ
Late night typing nonsense. My apologies

SlimRom on the mi4s has the best battery life? About how good? If I can ask. Also from my understanding you can flash any mi4c roms into the mi4s?

Yeah you can absolutely ask . I'm so keen on the slim build that I'm currently downloading today's build looking forward to testing it . The battery life (with some Pokemon go) still comfortably gets me through a day and around 3-4hrs SOT. Antutu scores sit around the 70k region so more than fast enough.
And no, you can't flash any mi4c rom to mi4s. You need to patch an assert in the updater file and sometimes they just won't boot anyway. AOSPA is a good example of one that doesn't work at all.
From my experience, Kumajaya CM is the most solid to date with superb support, RR is built directly off it with a heavier favouring of performance rather than battery. And slim is quite a middle ground. Fast but good battery too, downside is it's much newer so expect the odd issue.
Enjoy

I am satisfied with the Resurrection Remix on my aqua.
Wow, exciting news.
Is the Bluetooth bug gone on the SlimRom or any of the roms mentioned here? I mean the bug where bt just freezes and you have to reboot the phone or restart the service?

I prefer this one.
Battery consumption is very high, 12 hours maximum.

Happily using 0826, no issues. Its pretty hard to have a decisive recommendation as users are running so many different apps and configurations..
last boot179-4 1650-i forgot date...august ???
This seems to the correct thread to ask this question. I have tried few nighties randomly dome are very stable and some are not. But none of them have given exceptional battery life. Has anyone come across a stable nightly with great battery life.

have you Undervolted? That can give you the battery life you are looking for.

Hi,
I can recommend this version:
cm7-110716-0105-BOOT179-Jordan.zip
This version runs perfekt with very long battery life and works perfekt for me (cam, gps, wlan, battery...). But it is only version 2.3.4. I use this rom since a few weeks and I have no problems.

Ok, even am hunting for that, and i found 110814 wrking very good for me.
Its 2days,5hr, still 55% left
In my case, my sim was 6yrs old, so replaced it with new1 and that has given me better battery.
my configuration: check this thread

And thanks to cm7defy devs for making such a wounderful rom.
...110822 boot179-4 nightly, very stable, works like a charm!
From main CM7 thread:

I really doesn't understand this "myth" of the "best nightly"...
As far as I can tell the development is pretty much straight forward, and the best version is always the last - with bugfixies and new features who will get their bugfixies in a later version.
the best version is not necessarily the last one, we all have seen pretty screwed up nightlies. but now im using 110822 boot179, and i havent noticed any bugs yet, and it runs smooth, no lags, very good battery life.

Software dev is not that straight forward. With an OS it is actually hugely complex and anything changed might have unexpected consequences. The idea of posting here is to ID those ones that get a consistent good report.
I am currently on 110826-2119- NIGHTLY-Jordan.
Can I flash 0822 boot179-4 nightly directly on top of this and clear Dalvik and cache or is there any other procedure.....

jep, can confirm the high battery consumption on this nightly...
but would say that it's not the best rom at all
Well... I wait everyday for the latest nightly... And I can say I'm happy everyday. Haven't seen a sensive decrease in battery life ou system stability in any of the nightlys, only improvements
I update my defy with latest nightly version every ten days; I can't find any obvious issue yet.

i have to correct myself: 110822 boot179 nightly has battery drain issues, i only could last about 14 hours w/ normal use in the last 2 days... but i hear the 110830 is very good. can somebody pls confirm that?

well I placed the issue of Pandora in there so perhaps someone who uses the phone the same way could input on what they use and that its comparable to what I am looking for.
I would just dump rom after rom until I find something but time for me is super precious these next couple months.
A chart is great but remember Im not using a lot of the features the charts will describe.
Im only using it for google voice (to see my calls in the gym), pandora, play store, and play music, then some web browsing of course.
I actually turned off all the phone and data features to hopefully conserve battery life.

I just read it. I can try the slim rom. Im going to try installing devil kernel later first and see if it helps.
Still just hoping someone who is utilizing the same features I am can drop in and give their input. Not saying any rom is bad or better just looking to save some time, Im on the road a lot the next few months and the gym is my only real down time. Last night it was quite frustrating dealing with pandora.

The rom version you are using is partly to blame, newer isn't always better, go back to a previous version and install Devil.. the same for Slim, I wouldn't suggest passing 3.0 as of right now and Illusion has a couple issues, but it has serious speed...

Try Illusion 3/16 ( I made a bootable version, as the original had a flaw in the updater script, link is on the page) and flash the boot.img from your AOSP rom.. I was getting 5500's in antutu on stock speeds and 6500's overclocked, smooth scrolling and better battery life as well...
Don't try Devil with this rom as it breaks the playstore..
fastest of them all

I haven't tested Cyanfox since 2.02, it is a quick rom.. the site is down, gearing up for version 3, I wonder if our device will still be supported?.. C-rom is very fast with Devil kernel, (the initial release, the second release is slightly slower than the first) and has tested higher than any rom I've tried to date, even higher than when I tested Cyanfox.. If our device is supported in version 3, I hope the rotation bug is fixed..

I agree with you, that the Sultana ROM 6 is great. On the other hand, I am getting spectacular battery. Stock Sultana it was pretty good, meaning I'd lose4 -5% over night with the phone 'off', but using DS Battery saver, power use goes flat lie overnight... just flat line.
The rest of the time is 'normal', depending on what I'm doing... and still very good, as the battery will last several days of moderate use, several hours of gaming, and general 'stuff'.
Sry

How are the ROMs named here better than the CM nightlys? I'm using them since I got the phone more than a year ago.
Just curious
You can't say, if a ROM is better or worse than another ROM. Every ROM has his own taste.
Well then let's say what are your reasons for using them instead of the more "standard" CM?
I just need my phone to be stable and have a good battery life.

Yes, but you are not the only one who has a OnePlus 2 and want to use custom ROMs.
I can't see the point in this discussion and also not how it relates to my original question.
(The qustion beeing what ones reasons are to use a particular ROM) There is no point in posting something like "I'm using ROM xy" without naming any reasons.
I bought my dad a Galaxy Tab 2 a few years ago and although he barely uses it, it seems to have slowed to a crawl even whilst using it's most basic functions! (I've tried a full factory reset and it's still ridiculously slow - 20+ seconds just to load up the Play Store for example!)
Is there a generally regarded "fastest" (lightweight?) custom ROM out there that I could put on for him to extend the usability a bit?
Thanks...
slimkat slimlp builds are one of the most lightest and speed efficient roms.
Aosp builds are the minimalist builds, pure stock android experience.
Omni builds are good too, with little more features and oc kernel.
Generally CyanogenMod would get the latest updates(with bugs fixes and improvements) and then other rom will follow.
Then there is candy rom with most features than others.
Marshmallow builds are still in development.
Lollipop builds are near stable now.
Kitkat builds won't get more stability than it has already got.
Choose according to your dad requirements.
Thanks for the reply!
I went with Cyanogenmod in the end (10.1.3 just because it looked to be the most recent that was "stable" rather than "nightly" - not sure what the difference is!?!?)
Result - amazing!!!!!
The difference in speed is like night and day!!

Thanks for the recommendation. Even I'm thinking of downgrading the device from cm13. It simply isn't worth the lag.

Do you notice a difference between AOSP and CM in Speed / Battery Life?
Please always mention the reason why you think its the fastest Rom in your answer.
Thanks for your input!

Install MultiROM and try the roms on the secondary slot by yourself....it's more easy and fast than ask and wait answers from other people.
With MultiROM you can install all the roms on the secondary slot according to your storage.
Very easy and useful :good:
Hi!
I've tried a lot of Roms myself.
My main aim with this thread was to get a comparison between CM and AOSP based Roms.
I (personally) feel that AOSP in general is snappier than CM. But it very much depends on the Build.
Thats also why i asked the people to give reasons for their choice

I would recommend Oxygen OS
I'm using DU: http://download.dirtyunicorns.com/files/bacon/Weeklies/
Guys, please also post why you are using which ROM.
And why you think its better in comparison to ther ROMs.
Thanks!
I've used DU which is based on AOSP. It had a snappier performance and was smoother than COS or CM. But the battery life was kinda disappointing. I liked the rom. Then there's SultanXDA's CM13 which is a beast in battery performance. Currently back on Sultan's CM13 again. It's smooth but not as snappy and performing as the AOSP based DU. But then again, Sultan has his rom underclocked to 1.94GHz for battery reasons, so can't blame him for that. :3 He did include a way to get back to max clockspeed. Anyhow, there's another AOSP based rom named Darkobas which I have yet to use but I hear it's neck to neck in battery performance with Sultan's. So that's next on my list.
I would recommend anyone to go for Sultan's CM13. Because being able to survive at least 6-7 hours would get the win from me. And it's not falling back on any features. (not as many as DU tho) That's my opinion.
Fastest: Dirty Unicorn. (Didn't try max clockspeed Sultan's CM13)
Smoothest: SultanXDA's CM13.
Battery: SultanXDA's CM13.
Leanest: Not sure what you meant by Leanest. :3
