Hi,
I've an S6 G920i coming from Australia but I use it in Europe. Everything works well but the GPS.
It looks like an hardware fault. GPS Test doesn't show any satellites. Could it be a problem of localization/configuration (baseband - gps.conf )?
The HW testing menu (*#0*# - Sensor Hub Test) says:
MCU: BCM4773IUB2G
PASS
Is there any other way check out the hw?
What can I do to fix it? Changing the firmware could help? I read about an NV REBUILD but I can't access to that manu....
Try a hard reset first, if that doesn't fix it.
Use Samsung Smart Switch to reinstall the firmware.

Ciao
Just installed and restoring my apps. No bugs found yet.....
Compared to JP8 (the firmware I was using befor):
- Standard SMS is fully functional, but because of the beter groups sms functionality I will use Handcent again.
- Video (tested with an Divx file) is working again.
- Less lagtime.
But sill no good flash player....
Quite stable firmware. Most likely the official release coming soon.
Some bugs,
- the application file size displayed as number without the respective "Mb" or "Kb" unit. Ex. 4 megabytes displayed as "4".
- proximity sensor not working. When phone lifted off the ear, the screen display won't resumed back to dial pad. Probably not the sensor but some setting to be corrected.
- GPS still need small adjustment
- Powering off still take quite some time
- At times, the phone will be sluggish for no obvious reason ( but not common)
- 2.2 JIT built-into this release? Seems like not much speed improvement. I get an initialisation failed when i do adb shell dalvikvm -help
I am about to upgrade this on my i5801 (Asia), any suggestions? Please?
Last time I upgraded with I5800XXJP9 ## and used it, then after a restart my phone never started. I again had to install I5801DDJG6 # !
just fully charged my galaxy 3 and after 1h doing nothing with phone my battery have only 80%
I have some bugs:
- when somebody is calling the phone freezing, and the network is restarting, and i don't know who called me
- i don't can exit from Contacts, just with the Home button
- the phone don't receive the text messages
before i update to I5800XXJPA not hard reset the phone maybe this make the problems maybe not, i don't know
/Sorry my bad English/
Installed JPA. No problems found.

any suggestion for gpsfix of this jpa firmware?
the only way is rooting (with superoneclick, z4root and others didn't seem to work) and then use fasterfix ?
i have also a galaxy s and I used SGS tools to fix that (plus lbstestmode). does it work on galaxy 3 ?
thanks
ps: jpa is a good fw in my opinion

JPA works fine until now. 2 hours of testing. No wifi drop error, no freezing.
No GPS though..
I'm exactly in your position, got an SGS too, so if u find out anything pls send a PM.
Thanks.
If you are in the europe region, most likely you don't have to fix the gps.conf. Just run the gpssetup2 and finetune some of the parameters. Else, you have to get rooted and use fasterfix or edit gps.conf manually.
Not too sure about the SGS tools.

I noticed a very critical issue with this JPA release. The phone will become unstable or hang when loading more memory intense apps. For example, i tried loading a trace.txt file, after exit, the phone became sluggish and not responsive.
If you are normal usage, probably not a concern.
try hard reset again. I encountered this before, after hard reset, set the APN entry right, it will be alright.

You got any idea how to finetune it ?
i tried
Dail: *#*#3214789650#*#* --> settings --> Parameter Settings --> SSL --> I disabled it and changed it to Google Server. After that I changed Start mode to "Cold Start" and restarted the device.
Again dialed *#*#3214789650#*#* --> Commands --> Get positions, and wait 30 sec for an fix.
Back to settings --> Parameter Settings --> Start mode --> and changed it back to Hot Start. Restart device again.
i installed GPS Test and it got connected to satellites but is the a navigation software i can use ? I have iGO Amigo in my SGS 800*480, but on 400*240 i didn't find anything.

Hi, i use Ndrive, it is good on my opinion. Almost a perfect replacement for the iGo.
I have Samsung galax s i9003 with foryo i recently upgrade Foryo to Gingerbread.
I am from Pakistan but now problem is when I activate location services and try to look at Google map it tells me i am in china why it gps is crazy..
I found few fixed but could not open LibTestMode b/c all codes i tried and unable to open LibTestMode
do you have anything to tell you your gps status before checking maps, like gps test? it's in the market. first, confirm you've got a good lock on gps, then try again. I just updated to gingerbread (kph) yesterday, and my gps is working fine.
Gingerbread does not have libtestmode. And I do not have much problem with gps in XXKPH too
Are you connecting through a Wi-Fi or a EDGE or 3G network? Please tell me what ROM you are using? Are you on stock or are you using custom ROM?
Hello!
My Galaxy R (Austria, 2.3.6) will show 180° wrong compass information in Google Maps. When GPS is not active the arrow will point to the exact opposite direction the phone is looking. When 3D-Compass mode is activated the buildings shown in front of me will be behind me.
Other Compass Apps (tested "Compass" from catch.com from Market) will work fine.
I've also compared to an ZTE-Blate, the Blade was always correct, Galaxy R always wrong in Google Maps. Compass showed the same info for both phones.
*#0*# -> sensor -> magnetic sensor:
The green line will always show North
I think this is a google maps problem, i wanted to ask for confirmation on other phones before reporting it to Google&Samsung.
Can with an Galaxy R confirm this?
Mine shows it correctly. Where do you live? If you live at the southern hemisphere your compass may be preset for the northern one, since the ROM you use is for Austria.

I don't think thats the case. The magnetic sensor works by actually detecting the magnetic field in the surroundings.
I would suggest OP to update / reinstall Google Maps, its a software problem only with Google Maps and nothing else. As it is working with other apps its working correctly.
Hope it helps.
Hello!
I live in Austria and this problem occured with the original ROM and so i updated via kies, and it is still present. It is an original Drei branded phone with no modifications except root via cwm.
My maps version is 6.2.0 (Settings->Info will show: 6.2.0 (#6020014) gmm-android-samsung with platform android:samsung-GT_I9103-GT_I9103 and i can not uninstall it, since it came within the ROM. I tried to clear Data/cache for maps and tried uninstalling upgrades for Google maps (then its version 6.0.0). NUnfortunately I was not able to solve my problem.
I am pretty sure that the magnetic/geographic poles will not switch at the equator, so no adjustment for this should be necessary.
Also all other compass functions will work correctly, even google sky maps will show north correctly.
@mrsaccess:
Thank you for trying, now i know the problem is not on all phones. I would like to know if it is software dependent. I assume you do not have the Drei Firmware, can you tell me which firmware you have?
If someone with the Drei Firmware reads this can you please test, if this will also affect you? Note: GPS must have no lock, the arrow has to turn if you turn your phone to reproduce this. Try pointing your phone to North and see if the arrow in google maps will also point to North.
I have the original 2.3.4 that came with the device.
The problem has magically disappeared on my phone... Wow....
I also had a small problem with with a website (german wikipeda fir "Gin") which would "crash" the browser everytime I zoomed in, which i could reproduce for 2 days, after these two dayse it worked fine again.
The phone seems to solve all problems by itself...
mine too..... zskk5 hong kong...
Mine too still has Gmaps problem

How did the problem vanish by itself.. Pleas recollect and let me know what could have corrected it. Even my phone shows reverse direction in google maps but all fine with the compass apps
If anybody else aware of solution, please help.
Note: I have already tried, re installing.
So I bought this phone a month ago, and I just noticed that it wont use waze properly or g maps for that matter. Then upon checking Phone tester, to my surprise it doesn't detect any satellites. Is there a fix for this?
I also tried other apps and look, it doesnt detect satellite
Hi there,
I'm having the same problem. At first I thought it was Google Map apps but I've tried other navigation apps as sygic, tomtom and waze, all with the same problem. When I install the GPS apps I can see the the phone is unable to lock the GPS signal. I've send the phone back to the service center and what they did was a software update (though I think what they did just hard reset the phone) but the problem still occurred. I've done the hard reset myself numerous time but no difference whatsoever.
Is this a random problem to the P20 model or is it region based problem? I've read somewhere not all the P20 is having this issue. Could this be related to Android Oreo (8.1) itself? Currently I'm on version EML-L29 8.1.0.132 (C636patch01). Mine was purchased from Maxis Malaysia. I've been thinking either to install custom firmware, downgrade to Nougat or rebrand to other region but am not sure whether it will solve the problem. Anybody else with the same problem and is there a fix for this?
I have the same problem. Tried to install other apps, did a hard reset as well... But problem still exist.
I also had the same problem, I performed a hard reset and nothing happened, I returned where I bought and they sent me a new one, it is now working correctly
send it back to Huawei service centre. I just had mine fixed. Changed motherboard, with new IMEI. 2 weeks phone. it sucks to be honest. hopefully nothing goes wrong after this. #fingercrossed
hi all, after updating to 2.42.400.7, the location problem occuring.
forexample, when i am using the google navigation app, the pointer is following me 40 or 50 seconds after.
is there a fix for this.
my u11 s not rooted. i am using it in Turkey.
If it, the GPS, is consistently slow then you need to factory reset the phone. If the location is always wrong then you need to reflash the stock firmware. There is also the possibility that you may still have to flash the firmware even for your problem.
i'm having the same issue, where a GPS signal is not found or if it is, it detects where i am and loses signal. In order for it to work properly i have to restart the phone. it then works fine. any ideas?
i'm using software number: 2.33.401.10
i have done hard-reset to my u11. this solved the problem. thank you.
