After installing CM13.1-ZNH2KAS254 the battery lasts only four to five hours by merely using the phone.

- How many full cycles have you had since updating?
- Are you using the original OPO charger and USB?, aftermarket products don't offer the same charge rates so may affect battery use.
- You have a device that is 2 years old, the battery regardless of it's total charging cycles is already past its 12 month expected lifespan.
- Try clearing the cache via recovery, this is something always recommended after an update, regardless of how small as it irons out any duplicates or issues.
I bought the phone this year, I am using the original charger and cable, but I have been charging it whenever I had the chance because of my work. For example from 35% to 80%, never letting the battery drain out completely. I contacted OnePlus and they advised me to let it shut down and full charge the phone three times. I will post the resaults.
I also use tethering a lot, at home on my desktop pc. I see that while tethering is on, the phone is charging really slow, like 1-2% every 10 minutes. Could this be linked to the battery lifespan?
Battery issue and screen overlay issue after update 13.1
After update my OPO yesterday to CM 13.1 ZNH2KAS254, two major issues I m facing ans furst is battery charging is very slow in simple words its not charging and second is screen overly issue due to my applications not behaving properly. Please help as it was working fine before update

This is a known issue of slow charging with the latest official update. If you are rooted the device, you can switch to Custom ROM like sultanxda's which does not suffer from slow charging.
Battery life actually depends on how you use the device. If you just use the device to read, it'll last longer. If you use the device only on WiFi, it'll last longer. If you have good network coverage, it will last little longer and most important is the age of the device.
Battery drain can be because of some of the apps using the device resources(like Google Play Services etc) continuously and not allowing the device to go into deep sleep mode.
Tethering drains a lot of battery as your device acts as a router and gets the power from the battery

This is a common issue on MM roms and the OPO.
Lots of people are reporting wacko battery behavior after upgrading to MM.
In my experiments, the CM 13.1 by Sultanxda was the least offending, and possibly COS, but I don't exactly remember about COS.
Switching back to LP will correct any battery issues.
What about screen overlay which is very frustrating.

It's been almost 1.5 years since I'm using my OPO.
With the latest COS update, battery backup hasn't changed anything toward bad if not better.
6-6.5 hours SOT always based on my usage. While I get under 5.5 hours SOT with similar tweaks using SultanXDA CM e.g.
COS 13.1 is running really good for me, battery is great, and honestly, since COS 13 came out, I've literally stopped using custom ROMs while on COS 12/12.1 I was barely using the official ROM. Mostly was on Resurrection Remix.
So battery backup wise, COS is "GREAT" if you know what to tweak, and yes the phone charges from 1%-100% in 1.5 hours using the stock charger.
Do a battery calibration, complete calibration, here's what I do after every flash, drain to sub 1% when phone turns off, go to recovery and keep it there until it "completely drains itself to death", then start charging from complete zero all the way up to 100%. That works for me, can't take any guaranty for your device though.
[SOLVED]
I did what they suggested and the battery lasted a full day, 08:00 to 02:00.

Hi there!
so i decided to install CM7 alpha 6 on my sensation and ive been trying it it for 2-3 days (had alpha 5 before) and well the first day i recalibrated the battery after charging it to 100% and ... it went REALLY well!
i even Overclocked the phone with SOME kernel i found on the thread (sorry im not great with kernels or understanding them, i just know i use them to overclock but i made sure to know it was intended for CM7 use) and everything was still fine and dandy.
However i installed the radio that was suggested with the CM7 installing tutorial, not knowing what it did but i did it for compability issues i guess?, and the battery started shooting dead way too fast! like 1% every 5 mins or so. Now i read that the radio is pretty important for battery consumption so maybe by installing the new one i ****ed it up.
1) is there any way to revert back to my original radio? I live in Puerto Rico and 90% of the time at home i get EDGE because i dont get 3g here so i use Wi-FI calling and i do get 4g alot and good signal strength while not at home... the battery status displays my strength as yellow-green, 10% of the time its perfectly green. So maybe the radio i installed was an issue?
2) maybe its because CM7 still in Alpha stages and the battery isnt that great, or how is the battery for you guys? Did you mess with the radio?
3) Maybe its my battery i have an Anker1900mAh and it was doing just fine with ANDROID REVOLUTION getting 13 Hours of Medium - High usage during the day and i did do the 5 100-0% cycles throughout the first days... although i did clear the battery stats alot between the rom switching, maybe its ****ed with it?
i really like CM7 and i wanna keep giving it a try but if i dont get some options here i guess ill have to revert it back.
Sidenote: I also installed CM7 on my mothers MOTO CLIQXT and its been 2 days and she noticed that the battery is draining way fast as well. Didnt upgrade her radio though.
EDIT: i apologize for my terrible spelling and grammar

Also since I've been messing around with the battery stats and calibration this keeps happening and it won't show me the battery information. Any idea on how to fix this?
I am getting horrible battery life as well. I flashed their suggested radio. Gonna try flashing another radio and see if it helps.
i got a very bad battery life since i installed mike1968 3.6.0XE, a half day with the battery and then i have to charge it again. and i dont have wifi on or playing games, auto sync is also off. i like the rom but the battery life really sucks. i ordered a new battery and hopefully it will be better, it is the battery used for the Evo 3d.
Each time you change a ROM, you need to calibrate it by letting it charge to some 4.12v or so, and then let it discharge until the phone turns off. Try to turn the phone back on. If you can, wait for the battery to drain far enough such that the phone will NOT restart. Now charge the battery until it is 4.12v (not JUST 100% )
Do this a few times and youll notice better life. Also, WIFI DOESNT use battery that much when compared to data and phone calls. Use wifi whenever possible AND turn off anything that uses background data. Notifications and automatic reports/data collection all use data/wifi and will use your battery even when the phone is idle.
Check your standby current. It ought to be in the 10-50mA/Hr range. If its not, then you have rogue apps that ARE using battery.

Do you or anyone know what is the original Radio that TMO uses for the sensation (USA)?
Running Stock ICS 4.1.2 on Nexus S i9020A on AT&T US.
The battery was fine till about a few months back, but of late, it is draining @ around 8-10% per hour on standby!. I originally thought JB was causing the drain, and switched to ICS, and finally to GB. But the drain is consistent across all three.
There is also accelerated battery drain if my phone is completely switched off. If I leave the battery in the phone after powering off, the battery goes from 100 - 0 in less than 4 hours. Thinking the battery might have gone bad, I bought another oem battery, but that is exhibiting the same behavior.
This leads me to think there might be a hardware issue with my phone. I am tired of keeping the phone plugged in at all times, and am ready to throw this out the window and get another phone. As a last ditch effort, I wanted to post this here to see if I can get any kind of feedback/confirmation on this before I buy another phone. Other users are reporting 1-2% battery drain on standby, so 8-10% drain is unacceptable by any standard.
I have attached some screenshots from today when the battery was at 20% after about 9 hours. For this test, I did the following last night:
1. uninstalled all apps I downloaded
2. turned off WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, sync, auto brightness ( set to the minimum brightness)
I charged the phone fully, and then left it on standby, with minimal usage - I think I made a 2 minute call, checked my email once, and read some rss feeds for about 5 minutes in the 9 hours I tested it.

I know I'm not giving any advice here but I just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat. No matter what ROM GB/ICS/JB I lose too much battery per hour with the phone just on standby. There's no explanation for %10 battery drain per hour with pretty much everything off (wifi, data, gps, nfc, background data, etc)
I have tried everything and now I must admit I've given up. I'm just going to ride out CM 10.1 until I can decide on a new phone, most likely the Nexus 4 or HTC One.

Yeah, your phone doesn't seem to be doing much while asleep. 20 minutes screen on, 35 minutes active, yet battery down to 21%. My battery would be at 90% with that sort of usage. Since you changed the battery (I'll assume it's a decent quality battery, although a cheap battery could be in cause), there's not much left.
Have you tried switching 3G off? 3G seems to SUCK the life out of these Nexus S batteries like no tomorrow.
But I suspect it's a hardware issue with the Nexus S phones. I have WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G and auto-sync all shut off and a static wallpaper and I will lose 20% of my battery in 7-8 hours.
Battery is kernel related. Try changing your I/o scheduler to row and governor to smartassv2. If you don't have those options then look for a kernel that does...air kernel and matrix should suffice.
NO SOLUTION so far
A friend was having the same issue, gave him the battery of my nexus s ... it lasted him for 7-8hrs max whereas it gives me 1 day~ on 2G and normal use without gaimng . So my guess like his mobile your mobile may have some component which is short and draining out the battery . I have been trying to look around for answer but so far no luck. So better check it with another batteryif you can before purchasing a new one.
Vampire test
If anyone is investigating why their Nexus S suddenly starts draining the battery in a matter of hours, BEFORE spending a ton of time (like I did) trying to diagnose what software problem you might have, do the vampire test, as described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42586314
I wasted days before coming across this test on this forum, and it proved it had to be a hardware fault.
I have two healthy batteries, both hold a charge for days (probably weeks) when not inserted in the phone, but pop one in the phone, leave it powered off, and within 6 hrs it's dead. So frustrating, and sad to see this phone go.
Horrible drain for me this night !
I apply exactly the same setting, after my fresh flash. (Disabled GooglePlay Services, Disabled lot of services in Privacy...)
So, clean install, remove uselesswares inside rom, i'm losing 1,3% per hour in idle !
25R was 0.3% 0.4% per hour.
And to compare, i also flashed my LG G3 yesterday, no optimisations, untouched rom, only lost 1% in 10 hours !
Definitly moving back to 25R !

Post battery usage screens. Also, do you use greenify? Custom kernel? Dalvik/ART?
If it's draining that much there must be something running constantly in the background while you're idling and hence affecting the battery life.

I did a similar test to you. Last night, I charged my Nexus 5 and OnePlus One up to 100%. I took them both off the charger at the same time, put them both on Airplane mode and went to sleep.
Woke up this morning, N5 on 99% and OPO on 94%, couldn't see anything notably different looking at the battery stats either... Not sure why it is draining so fast!

Yes, but it only takes you 2 minutes to enter your name, nickname, email and password when registering.
To be honest, the problem is not only with the latest software.
I'm using gummy, which has a CM based kernel and even after disabling everything possible (keep awakes in app ops, all syncs, google play service stuf, app feedback and notification data) and with zero apps in foreground and in airplane mode, I'm still loosing ~1% per hour over night.
The device is in deep sleep and wakelock detector doesn't see any wakelocks besides a couple of minutes of "AudioIn" from google search.
It might be even worse on the latest software, but there is a general problem here.
Either it's a driver/kernel problem, or they're just selling really cheap batteries that get worse over time (unlikely, I hope)... Or it could be the double tap to wake/sleep function(going to test that next night).
On the nexus 5 this option was available when using a custom kernel, but the devs added an option that one could use it, but only when turning the screen off by using the double tap to sleep option.
When turning it off with the hardware button, dt2w would be deactivated.
The reason for that was that the device would always have to wait for and register the dt2w, which could drain the battery.
Anyway, this is the last thing I'm going to try and that I am able to test now, if that's not the problem, it has be one of the other two options.
We know one thing for sure - the idle drain was not there before the update, so it means the update introduced it.
If it's because of the proximity sensor for gestures/doubletap/etc. or some other bug - it's unclear at this point in time.
Most likely it's not related to the radio or mobile phone functions, as people report the same increased drain in airplane mode.
25R is fine for me. 4.4.2.

That's bad news, I was hoping one of the ways to get back to normal battery drain was installing M9... but seems if OP/Cyanogen don't react to this in a few days, the only solution will be reverting to 25R. It's a good thing I made a TWRP backup

So, I have a Exynos variant of the S10E and I'm having mixed result with battery life:
If I use my phone a lot (and I mean a lot) for example when I'm traveling i get about 6 hours of SoT which is great with a 3.100mah battery and heavy usage.
However on a regular day the phone just seems to discharge itself when in standby mode and I don't even reach 3 hours of SoT.
My setup is simple: all apps are disabled when on standby except for WhatsApp, Telegram and some e-commerce stuff and in the Battery stats "Android OS" in on top of everything (except for screen).
Are you having the same issue? Did you manage to find the cause? Let's discuss it.
This solution was posted on the S10 forum and certainly helped me.
There's a bug that stops the phone from going into a deep sleep mode post making a call (audio/video) on apps like WhatsApp, Skype et al. The solution for the time being is to reboot the phone once before going to bed. I tried a lot of other things but had a ~2% hourly standby drain which reduced to <5% overnight after figuring out this solution. I have both WiFi and Bluetooth on at night.
You may try to play around with the battery saving tweaks in ONE UI but nothing worked as well as this has. Hopefully there'll be a more practical fix to this soon.
Cheers!
Hi! Thanks for your feedback.
I have my S10E scheduled to reboot every night but this doesn't seem to fix the issue and I also don't use whatsapp/telegram voice/video calls, so I don't think is is quite the issue.
There's probably something else preventing deep sleep, but I think that waiting for an update from Samsung will be my best bet

That's interesting. There are over two dozen people on the s10 page confirming this to have solved their drain.
For how many days have you had your device? Mine took a while to understand my usage pattern
I am currently getting over 5 hours SoT over 18-20 hours now, it was ~3 hours previously.
I'm having the same issue. No video calls and still losing ~2% per hour. Restart doesn't help.
Mine too, lost 3% in under an hour sitting in my pocket doing nothing. As usual the battery stats are not much use.

There's a bug with the proximity sensor. The phone gets turned on automatically in the pocket which might cause battery drain.
BTW putting the phone on battery saver (Medium power saving) mode stops battery drain. Until we get a fix from Samsung this seems like a worthy option.

Nope. It's not only when sitting in the pocket. Basically put it on a table and the battery will drain.
There's people on the S10 forum reporting a much better battery performance after a software update (ASC8) on the Exynos S10 / S10+ (see here or here) that should fix the drain issues. Do you know if they are rolling it out also for the S10e Exynos?

It seems ASC8 has been stopped, and they are releasing ASCA. For now it has only released for Germany firmwares. Let's see what's new in this update. Regards

I have the same problem, when phone is in use it gets great SoT of around 6 hours, but when not in use throughout the day battery still drains very quickly. I was hoping the update will fix it , but even after updating, nothing changed. Hopefully there is a solution soon.
Seems like battery drain issue was fixed in the latest update ASCA. Mine was previously draining 15% overnight. Now it only drained 4% in 8 hours!! Which is pretty amazing.
Anyone have the Hong Kong model G9700? I've noticed standby drain is quite high.
I have German ASCA version, but battery is draining awfully. I use both SIM cards and loose 25 percent half a day being in standby-mode.

I was also having pretty bad battery drain, 15% overnight. But after the ASCA update I'm getting about 5% overnight, maybe it's just my phone?

I recently got a Mi 10 Lite and the battery seems to drain about 20% every night which seems very excessive to me. Last night for example it was on 71% when I went to sleep at 12 am and woke up 7 hours later to see it on 50%. I installed Battery Guru to help give more insight as I don't think MIUI's battery stats are the most accurate and it seems Xiaomi's security center is sitting at the top with 72% battery usage. This seems very high to me.
I do have a pi hole server on my network so is it possible that something on my phone is trying to phone home and can't get through?
The only thing that is on at night is wifi - GPS, bluetooth even 5G is off.
Has anyone experienced this on their device? I know I can try a Xiaomi.eu rom but I wanted to keep things as stock as possible for sometime.
I am wondering what else I can try?

I updated mine to Global 12.0.3 last week and mine seems to be losing a lot of battery overnight. Sync is turned off and there's minimal apps on my phone anyway. Mine seem to lose 20-30% overnight and it didn't before i updated.
Mine has lost 9% since it turned on at 7am this morning - so 8 1/2 hours. I'll leave it on overnight tonight, but your loss does seem excessive. I'm also on 12.0.3 Global.
Did a bit of an experiment last night. Put my phone on airplane mode and then turned WiFi back on. My phone only lost 2% battery during 8 hours overnight. I understand the cell radio uses a fair bit of battery but I wouldn't have thought 20% in 8 hours overnight in standby.
Is it possibly my sim card that might need updating, it is 4 or 5 years old? Unless it's just MIUI12 that doesn't play well with certain radios? Either way it definitely seems to be a radio issue.
I have noticed that when it's in standby for a long time with the cell on the MIUI Security Center jumps to the top of the battery list with a very high percentage of battery usage. Every time. Not sure what that would be.
Very frustrating. Maybe I should try a hard reset.
Mine has lost 30% in 36 hours, everything turned on except 5G as I'm nowhere near a 5G signal. Which seems about right for my normal usage.

When you updated to MIUI 12 did you do a reset after the update or just a straight update?

MIUI 12 was released within a few days of me getting the handset - I don't remember doing a hard reset, but it is possible. Definitely didn't after the newest update to 12.0.3 though.
