Issue with pop-ups on specific site - Security Discussion

Not sure if this is the correct place for this post, but recently I've been noticing whenever I access the android police website from my android phone it almost always launches a pop-up that requires me to close the chrome browser and upon reopening, close the website tab quickly to exit completely and prevent the pop-up from relaunching.
Is this something I should be concerned with or is it most likely an issue with their site advertising. Most of these are being launched initially from my google now news articles.
Again if this is the wrong forum please let me know where I should be posting this. Thanks!

Probably related to their website. Feel free to contact them. You may remove intrusive pop-ups/ads.

Suggestion: Dangerous programs sticky thread.

This is a suggestion / request to the mods as well as an invitation to all site members to contribute any info they have on this.
At the moment there are no real viruses for windows mobile devices, only a few proofs of concept.
But I have encountered a few examples of supposedly normal commercial software that I really wouldn't want installed on my phone.
Example 1:
A while back a small company (who's name I no longer remember) sent a letter to all its customers threatening that the anti-piracy protection on their software will damage your bootloader if a cracked version of one of their apps is discovered on your phone.
Example 2:
It was reported a while back that Agile Messenger sent user names and passwords for all messenger services unencrypted through the net potentially giving anyone access to your accounts.
Example 3:
While reading the EULA for Opera Mini I discovered it sends users phone number and all their browsing data (cookies, history, cache) to the Opera ASA server basically spying on your internet activities.
Unfortunately all the threads dealing with these otherwise nice and useful apps have now moved deep in to site history so any new users or just someone who haven't been on the site for a while is likely to miss them.
My proposal is this:
Create a sticky locked thread, I think the general section would be most appropriate, so anyone visiting the site would be able to see the list of programs he might want to avoid.
Why lock the thread?
As I understand it moderators can still edit locked threads any time they want so there are two reasons to keep it locked from the general public:
1) To keep the list clear and easily readable.
I am sure many people will want to comment on the software even if it is just to say "how dare they do this?", but any comments / questions would be better off in separate threads.
2) To be fair to the software creators.
I think that anyone making a claim against a software should provide some minimum proof. Like the email quoted in example one, comm log dump or screen shots. At the very list confirmation from other users.
This site has a lot of impact on the mobile community and it would be a shame if a wrongfully accused software would suffer due to being publicized as damaging here.

mobile search unavailable?

I love the website but have to call y'all out when your mobile app tells me that it's search feature is down. Its almost hard to believe its possible with all the talent that utilizes this web site. Just a heads up you may want to fire a web manager

Click to collapse
The search feature goes up and down like a whore's drawers. Not really a problem - you can just use Google to carry out a site specific search if you need something. That's what I do most of the time anyway as I find it to be more accurate (not just for XDA, for for most web forums out there)
As for "Firing someone" - most of the people on here do this for free and as the site doesn't make as much revenue through click-ads and the like, we have to accept the odd glitch from time-to-time as our mobile-phone life would be much worse without this great resource.
Yes the search via the mobile devices can be a challenge. I my self use browsers and the apps.

This thread is in place for reporting issues with xda app.
Thank you and thread closed.

CONGRATULATIONS! the page facebook dot com.prizes.etc. says: I won!!! PLEASE TTT

Ok xda. Its getting pretty tough to use your website. (without an adbocker that is).
I assume that most of your revenue comes from ads.
However the ad-videos on the desktop site just about slow my browser to a crawl for some reason. Never happens on any other sites.
And now whenever i try to browse xda on my phone's browser i get directed to a fake facebook page that tells me I won a "prize". Just sign your life here!!!
Once im on that page i have to close the window and start over. It has for the most part prevented me from using this site for the last few months.
I cant be the only one getting this.
I understand and am happy to see some adds around. Even if they're overwhelming. As long as they aren't hijacking my browser to the point where i cant use your site.
An adblocker helps (sometimes), but then i cant view the ads that give you your revenue.
It is very counterproductive. I love this site and would like to see it live on. But at this rate the doom is imminent.
If anybody has experienced this and similar please reply.
Thanks and sorry to B!tch...
Literally every other link i click on takes me to a fake prize.
2 words... C'MON!!!!
if you come across any more such ads, please post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696660
let us know which page and what ads you're seeing.
Thanks

Problem with android and facebook links

Hey there! Im new to this forum, at least at writing.
I own a news website with a good amount of visits (150-200k page views per month), and seems like lately im having an issue with facebook and android. All the news we publish are also published on facebook with a link to the news on our website, as we get 80% of our traffic from it. Lately some users have been complaining about redirects from the facebook app: when they click the link on the facebook app, it redirects to ads websites, different every time. It seems to be just happening from android phones, and just from the facebook app.
If those same users type the link on the browser, they get to our website with no problem. It also seems to be happening just when using data from their plans, not with wifi, but we cant confirm it as we exactly dont know how many users have been affected with this redirects.
Our site seems to have no problems according to google webmasters tools, nothing happens on desktop version, just on android phones clicking links from the facebook app. Any idea whats going on? We are kinda lost at this.
Just in case, the site is running wordpress, premium theme, not many plugins.
Any help or idea would be appreciated. Thanks!

Article Sections Open Automatically

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot or if I do something wrong, this is my first post and I just cannot find any information anywhere else on the internet or even on these forums.
Basically what's happening is that every time I open a webpage (e.g. Wikipedia) the sections on the website are open without me clicking on them which normally would be how I open them. For instance (see image) "characteristics" and "classification" both start out as open, like classification is currently. If anyone has any information about this or a way to have them start out as closed, please let me know. I'm running stock OS and I have no rooted my phone or anything like that, I believe it started out a few updates ago but I only just caught it recently.
I am thankful for any information you guys can give or any ideas you have.
Edit: can't actually post images for the first 10 posts, sorry
