What are the specs on said device?
-sent from this device using this app.
With the new security update to f3 you probably cant just flash a recovery then flash supersu there probably has to be a custom kernel or systemless root boot image mod flashed to the device first... chainfire would be the one to know all about the systemless root stuff...

I'd be willing to donate a bit to whoever comes up with a recovery and root for the J700P.
I'll give $15
I'll donate too. Desperate for root.
I'll donate $20 as soon as the root file is posted, i need root asap
I'll add $15 myself
got 20 on it

i checked it , Boost j7 is running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 MSM8929 not exynos7580 like the other j7 , no source on samsung site too which make it very difficult to have root on this device , i send samsung message asking for the source code , i don't know if they are going to release it or not , the only possible solution is to flash prerooted stock rom to your phone , do u want to try this solution out ?

Yes I did all of that, even went back and did it a second time.
1. Installed package disabler, disabled the 3 files it stated on that other post
2. Went into download mode, flashed boot.tar
3. Ran root.bat as admin

Hi,
i used a modified boot.img to root the phone.
I did it on my own for the phone i've bought at cect-shop.com (see above) so i'm not sure that it will work on other i9300s too.
I recommend to save your own boot.img first using the readback function from the flashtool with startadress:0x0000000000f88000 and lenght 0x00600000.
You are using this file on your own risk, good luck !

Take a look into ColonelZaps blog : http://colonelzap.blogspot.de/2012/07/star-note-ii-n9770-mt6577-dual-core.html
It's the same way, just use the i9300 boot.img instead of the one from the blog.
How to read your boot.img per readback should be clear if you play around a bit with the flashtool.

n9770root.zip includes all what you need, drivers (maybe the most difficult part), flashtool and a boot.img. This boot.img must be swapped with my file. You can do this by doubleclicking the boot.img in the flashttool after loading the scatterfile. Try it out, you can't harm anything as long as the phone is not connected.
When you opend the flastool you will find a button labeled with 'readback'. Click it, than press 'add' and enter the adresse and length. if you finished that press readback and the tool will read your boot.img to your harddisc.

You have to load the scatterfile, change the boot.img, then first press 'download' before you connect your phone which have to be off.
The download should start automaticly, if not or if an error-window appears the driver is not installed correctly.
I wasn't able to install the driver on 2 Windows 7 PCs. I reactivated my old Windows XP PC and was succesfull. It seems to be a bit difficult to install the driver.
The adresse and length should be the same on every MTK6577 phone, you had to connect your phone as the last step. Doesn't matter if you want to download or readback.
I know no other way to root a MTK6577 phone than flashing a rootet boot.img, it was easier on MTK6575 phones.
if i understand, i open flashtool, i make all like you say (boot img, scartet fil...), i click on download, i click on yes and i connect my phone (with or without batterie) ?
and i don't understand for save my boot ?

Yes, connecting the phone should be the last step. Take the battery out for a second to reset the phone and put it back before connecting it.
As you say you are an android noob i would urgently recommend to make a backup first.
Start the flash-tool -> load the scatter-file -> click on 'Read back' -> click on 'Add' -> doubleclick the new entry -> give a name for your backup -> enter start-adress and length -> click ok -> click on readback button -> connect your phone.
If the driver is correctly installed the tool starts automaticly. The result should be a file with a bit more than 6MB.

******UPDATE FIX YOUR T337A WITH LOLIPOP FRIMWARE FILE******* I do not take credit for this file at all, all credit goes to MichaelSaya. Here is a direct quote from him "Here is the link to my Google drive with the Official Lollipop Firmware for the AT&T TAB 4, SM-T-337-A https://mega.nz/#!0Q4AXQgZ!Df-pTUo6eA80kGTrzpYCAJ0ilGbUzMYCE4nRtvume6s Place in AP slot in Odin and flash. Be aware that many have been bricked. Only root with Kingroot and when you reboot, you will lose root. Simply re-root with Kingroot and you will be fine. DO NOT REPLACE KINGROOT WITH SUPERSU!!!!! YOU WILL BRICK!!!!! But we have the firmware now so we can now play around knowing that if we mess something up, we can fix it."
I found a way to re-root the t337a with the latest OTA NK2. Not sure if I was the only one in this boat or whatever but I got bored and started experiment. First thing i did was Flash the older NF4 kernel with ODIN. Put this in the PDA slot and flash! It was successful, I downloaded Towel root, and bam! Root working again ! Cheers!
Tutorial:
1. Get the latest drivers to make sure everything goes smooth http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...NG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0.exe
2. Get Odin if you don't have it yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421
3. Download the NF4 kernel from the attachment below
4. Go into Odin.
5. Click on PDA, search for the file you downloaded boot.tar and select it. Pic: http://i.imgur.com/XrqVPLZ.png
6. Now, put your tablet into download mode! If you don't know how to enter download mode go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDE1oB2-nYw its the s5 but same concept.
7. Plug in your tablet and it should say something like this in message window in odin: http://i.imgur.com/uWFc4YX.png
8. Now, hit start. Let the process run. If all goes well it should say RESET! I dont know what happened to this pic lol http://i.imgur.com/AbH5qW7.png but hopefully you get the point.
9. Give the tablet a few minutes to boot. Keep it plugged in until you see PASS! http://i.imgur.com/eTuHDUl.png
10. Go get towel root. Run it. And BAM! You are rooted again
*** WARNING *** This doesn't work with the lolipop update. I have tried to downgrade my tablet and it did softbrick it. Do not try to downgrade your tablet/try this method if you are running lolipop 5.1.1. This only works on kitkat. HOWEVER. I have the lolipop boot.tar. Use the instructions above to unbrick your tablet (This will not give you root access. I'm going to look at it and see if I can figure something out to get root access). I have not tested this myself because mine is at a friends house BUT this should work. Cheers

Hi,
Neat ! so if the older kernel was compiled before towel root's october deadline [i think it was october] when that vulnerability
was closed then that would make sense. :good:

Yeah you indeed do have the wrong device, however if you want i can upload the NE1 kernel (first kernel for the t537a). However... i have not tested it for this device. CocaFoca,
hi, this is off-topic but, do you have a working recovery for the 337a yet? Or a lead on unlocking it?
I've alternately tried to mod safestrap and actually build it from what sources Hashcode had up
but no dice.
on the odin image, it may have been packed wrong,
run this script in the same directory as the boot.img
#!/bin/bash
tar -H ustar -c boot.img > boot.tar
md5sum -t boot.tar >> boot.tar
mv boot.tar boot.tar.md5
odin complains about the md5 sometimes so you can skip
the last line, it will still flash.

I unfortunately do not. I do believe I know why safestrap isnt workin SElinux wont disable at all for me... Tried booting safestrap for different att phones and it woulndt stick always said not active. I believe we need to find a way to make it permissive then it will work? Tried the one on the market didnt work. I did get one to make it permissive but it reset after reboot :/ im just a newbie at this stuff but tbh I want to learn. Anyways... Im interested in this... Coca,
ok you may need selinux enabled busybox, check this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...de-busybox-snapshot-building-android-t2857650 , the OP is a good read the links are a ways down, i've tested out both versions and they seem square.
my last thought is to replace the two distinct busybox binaries in safestrap, busybox and bbx, my attempts with safestrap
end up rebooting to my actual recovery if that provides a lead. the version i chose for modding was Galaxy S4 (ATT) [JFLTEATT]

I was unaware if a root exploit to unlock bootloader and also to root my phone
was available for my phone yet. I also would prefer a different flashing utility than TWRP.
I dont like it when I used it with my Optimus G.
Thanks in advance.

Right now there is no TWRP for the AT&T variant. Also can you pull your system.img of your stock 10I software? To do that do this:
1. Download these drivers
2. Download the root tools (make sure you mouse over the download button and the bottom of your browser says LG_Root.zip)
3. On this page follow steps 1,2,3,6,7,8,and 9 ONLY also make sure you run the ports.bat and are using the port that says DIAG
4. Then run this command
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=8192 skip=65536 count=579584 of=/data/media/0/system.img
5. When the command prompt returns to # type LEAVE to reboot your phone. Has to be in all caps.
6. On you computer navigate to your phones internal storage and you will see a file called system.img. Upload this to google drive.
Status: Root unsuccessful
I ran the script through cmd. I watched everything happening and I was unable to gain img or root. What do I do next?

If you followed my steps exactly as above then you shouldn't have root. there should be a file in your phones internal memory called system.img
If you don't have this try it again. when you issue the command
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=8192 skip=65536 count=579584 of=/data/media/0/system.img
it should take 2-3 minutes to come back to the # sign. if it is instant then it didn't work. keep retrying until you get the system.img file.
When you get that and upload it I can root it for you then you can flash it to your phone.
Thanks.
It was able to create a system img for me. I can root it if you just let me know the steps. Should I not just follow all of the steps 1-10?

No, that is not how you root it. It needs to be rooted in a linux environment. that's why I asked you to upload, because it isn't a simple process to root.

Hi,
I am following this link to root my new note 5 using the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo.../t-mobile-sm-n920t-root-methods-info-t3183805
Everything is fine until from step 5, I realized that the kernel, and the rest of the files, when trying to browse them from the phone on recovery mode and flash them, the extension will not even be read by my phone. Therefore I dont know what to do. the post said the extension is supposed to be zip but there are in in only two img files, which when connected to the phone, won't even be recognize. so how can i flash the phone?
please help,
Yann

Now I think I do have a clear idea o the issue: I followed all the steps this time
however, SuperSu would pop out at the end and when I check: root access denied: I think the previous root that I did not perform right, is the issue somehow. Is there any way to get rid of it or go around it?

Did you flash a kernel? If you did then download super su from the market and try TiBu again. The error means that TiBu was not given super user permissions. So either you dont have a rooted kernel or you dont have SU installed to grant the requested permissions. OR you have both and just didnt grant SU permissions when asked.

I did flash a kernel , and any other softwares provided under this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...easy-steps-n920t-aoge-odin-twrp-root-t3187422
Next, what do you mean by Supersu from the market? What is TiBu also?
Thanks for your contribution.

The market has a super user app for managing SU permission requests, you may already have it. It will look like a pound sign "#" and say super user or SU. If you dont have that app you need to download it. The developer is named chainfire.
TiBu is short hand for Titanium Backup
Waouh I am learning a lot from you guys. O, I will be looking for that SU with the # sign. It is definitely not what I currently have.
by this sentence: "OR you have both and just didnt grant SU permissions when asked." : do you mean that the phone may have already been rooted? without SU telling me? because honestly, I dont know whats wrong.

If you already have SU then you would have been prompted to grant super user permission by a pop up dialog. If you mistakenly select deny or wasn't paying attention (it has a time out that will select deny but only temporarily if no user input is selected). If you mistaken selected deny then you would need to open the SU app and remove the TiBu entry, restart TiBu and select allow.. That is only IF you have the Super User (SU) app installed..
OMG! YOU ARE GENIUS! THAT WAS THE ISSUE.no it says that I do have root access! finally. Hyper shell (FAST): YES. However Fast/Auto App Install: No. THANK YOU THANK YOU

Hi, I just realized that I am not done yet. More new issue with the phone. It looks I did not do something right or one of the softwares is not correct: after we rooted the phone yesterday, IO had it unlocked with the help of stilfilz. However, ever since , when I make phone calls, the phone would go off by itself after a while.
Have you heard of previous similar mistakes? If yes, any ideas about how to fix it?

You need a different kernel. You should give me the model number of your phone and I will point you to the most recent arter kernel. I am assuming you are rooted with noble which was known for kernel panic during phone calls which caused reboots

Hey, give this link a try: I'm not sure if this works or not as I haven't and won't try but I just wanted to suggest it http://www.osroots.com/how-to-root-oppo-f1-oppo-rooting-tips/
Also, if that doesn't work, give this a try: http://reviewroots.com/root-Oppo-F1-with-or-without-pc
Plus, could you give me your thoughts on the battery life? I am on the edge of buying this phone or the moto 3rd gen and the battery life is the only thing holding me back.
I can try reviewroots one later this day.. I post back how it work or if phone brick

I had tried "Kingroot" and "Framaroot" two days ago. Both of them don't work for F1.
Anyway,thanks for your sharing.:highfive:
There is no working root for Oppo F1 at the moment. Safe rooting methods are not available. The bootloader is locked and fastboot has been disabled.
I'd be very careful about trying to use one click app solutions for attempting to root the device, if you can get them to work. They are responsible for suspicious behavior, such as downloading stuff and installing their own root manager. Beware.
No hope
I tired everything, kingroot, Framaroot, oppo tool, Kingoroot no hope ?
Someone please find a way to root this phone
You still haven't figured out how to root this?

nice :good:
perhaps you can give us more clues :
1. does we need unlock bootloader / not ?
2. it need flashing from recovery (or even flash custom recovery) or only just an apk ?
this is interesting :highfive:
Has anyone tried TowelRoot?
Please help us root this device!
Thank you guys so much!
would using adb and remounting everything manually work? or downloading a firmware update and modding that
It will be much like my Find 7. Need to unlock bootloader to install TWRP recovery so you can flash SuperSU.
The trick is having an unlocked bootloader in the first place. The Find 7 wasn't a problem. Oppo didn't try to lock the user out.
I have an F1 here for my wife. Will root it once a developer has the exploits developed, tested and released to public. Just have to be patient and don't rush in doing risky experiments.
Try changing the launcher so it has a better UI for the daily stuff. ColorOS launcher is a PITA.

lol. uh no.
1: you can't remount system as /rw on a user build (only engineering/userdebug).
2: I think you mean a OTA update for system. Both the firmware and system are signed. You can't just do that.
You can use CVE-2015-1805. I got root via a kernel vuln, then exploited the bootloader to unlock it
