I got random wifi drop (disconnect + connect) with my S7 in my home network, sometimes 1 time in 2hrs, sometimes 4-5 times per hour. This is annoying since the S7 vibrate when losing wifi, and make sound when conecting. I tried every solution availables on xda, android central, and didn't find a solution that fix my problem.
In my case, the issue is on the 2.4 band and also on the 5.0 band. My router is a Dlink DIR-868L, updated to the latest firmware. All my other devices, including Galaxy Tab S2 have no issues.
I tried:
- turning off Bluetooth (also the scanning in location)
- changing channel on router
- turn off smart switch
- factory reset
- ...
In last resort, i plugged in my old router (DIR-628) on the 2.4 band and got no issue, so i looked to find wich parameter on my DIR-868L is the curlpit.
So, i found that changing the channel width from (Auto 20/40) to 20 solve my issue, no drop since the last 15 hours.
Little tip: I used and app called "WiFi Logs" to monitor my wifi connection.
Hope Samsung will fix the firmware soon!
I have a similar problem with your, I will do that test tonight at home, my router is also the same family as yours, the dlink dir809 is also 5ghz.
I have this issue after Nougat update.
I already changed my Modem config with many customizations but no luck
I resetted network configuration without luck
It happens a lot and really is annoying
Wifi sleep policy is always on
Please help me

So I've had my Nexus 5 for roughly around a month and I hadn't experienced any issues others have had with wifi not connecting until now. My N5 will show im connected to my home wifi with full bars, but going into quick settings shows it to be orange. Suggesting there's no data transfer, I cannot use any internet based apps with wifi. I've tried some suggestions, switching my router off then on, rebooting the phone, turning some settings off in the advanced panel in wifi settings. All have failed.
I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if anyone has a fix to it.

There was a thread around here somewhere that suggested turning off your mobile data helped fix this problem, I think it was in the N5 General forums.....here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2550690
Don't know if it'll help or not, just saw your thread and had just looked at the other one, figured I'd toss it out there.
Thanks for the reply, just tried that solution but still no luck.
I have a similar problem except that there are phases of wifi not working.
Sometimes I would have around 20-30 seconds of WiFi not working and there would be no data transfer.
Speeds are still fast when it is working however.
I played a little with only using mobile data and no wifi, and everything worked. (Small sample size however).
Seems like this is a WiFi only issue.
So somehow overnight the wifi has managed to fix itself, will report back if the problem returns.
The issue with the wifi returned unfortunately.

Don't know if you've tried this but change your WiFi frequency band in advanced setting to either "5 GHz only" or "2.4 GHz only," whatever your router uses. Might be worth a try.
Thanks for the help, but I've tried changing some settings in advanced wifi settings but it hasn't worked. Even what you recommended I've tried that before and it didn't work.
wifi issue
Also I have the same issue - Im connected to router by wi-fi, home and work and time by time (5x a day) wifi stops working. Wifi is enabled in settings, but there is no connection. Restart the cellphone helps, but after that, maybe an hour, it appears again.
Issue was in 4.4 and still appers in 4.4.1.
Yet did not found how to solve it.
I have the same issue on my gnex running shiny 4.4, but I also had the same issue on 4.3. Tried the wifi options, nothing worked. Unfortunately, no solution for this device that has to last one more week. The double swipe down and tapping wifi gets the connection back, but it is only a work around.
The N5 connects seamlessly to my home and work wifi. A few days ago, I flashed the hammerhead factory image, TWRP and the 4.4.1 update.

Hey,
I have the same problem with 4.4.2.(factory rom, no root or not unlocked). Sometimes the wifi not works and get orange. I must put airplane mode to fix it. Its annoying.
But as well happens to me:
When I go out from office or home (where I have wifi connections saved in phone) the phone automatically switch to data plan from carrier. But when I come back the phone stays with data and there is not automatic switch to wifi. Sometimes it help to put wifi off or always airplane mode on/off for a while.
I do not know if it is normal behave of android but I would like have automatic switch to wifi.
I tried to change wifi details (changing bands, etc.) but not helped.
Please help. Thank you.
Is custom ROM or kernel will fix it??
For some unknown reason, as soon as I updated my router's firmware, the problem disappeared.
Updated Android 6.0 solved the issue

So I had the unfortunate experience of having my wifi go down while on vacation and for 3 weeks I spent a good chunk of time wiping and reinstalling multiple versions from Cyanogen, Paranoid android and 4.4 - 5.1 to no avail. I just did another factory wipe today and installed the new Android 6.0
The Finger Pointing Game is OVER
Read through 30+ pages of other android users with similar experience and some people send their units back to LG and some even managed getting a new handset. There was never any hardware issues with my unit I just couldn't turn on the WiFi but after the install WiFi works? Guess next time you push a software update to our Phones CHECK YOUR SH*T google and Maybe DON'T Take 3 months to FIX your F*CK Up.
I have a similar issue. Since Lollipop my phone almost never automatically connects to my WiFi anymore. What's wrong?
Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my Wi-Fi connectivity on my N5 and it's freaking me out! :crying:
When I'm trying to connect to my home network, the Wi-Fi icon is getting orange after some random time.
Some times it gets back to white, some times it's not.
I know its a known issue but nothing seems to fix it.
I tried everything - reboot my phone, reboot my router, reboot into safe mode, forget the network and connect again, toggle into airplane mode and back, change Wi-Fi settings to connect only to 2.4 GHz, avoid poor connections, update my router firmware.
NOTHING worked!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is factory reset but I read some people saying it didn't help them either.
Only turning Wi-Fi off and than on again makes it "white" again for some other random time.
I'm running stock everything on a rooted device with Android 4.4.4 build KTU84P.
My Wi-Fi is working great with other devices in the network including a Nexus 7 2012 and some laptops.
And it seems that my Nexus 5 is connecting fine to other Wi-Fi networks.
It worked fine in the past and I think it all went wrong when I replaced my Modem.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Do you think maybe the Lollipop update will fix this annoying issue?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention (I guess it is obvious) - I can't connect to any website or run any network connected app when I'm "orange" (I know it means I'm not connected to google services).
Tried also to change my Wi-Fi channel. still not working.
Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong here?
This is really frustrating ... :crying:
Well, I'm kind of talking to myself here, but in case someone else is facing this annoying issue, here is what fixed it for me eventually:
Configure a static IP to my phone in the router configurations ! :victory:
Before that, I also tried to disable Wi-Fi optimization in the phone Wi-Fi settings, buy it didn't seem to help.
Got a new S8+ yesterday.
Everything is fine except WIFI, it keeps disconnecting all the time, going on and off, until it finally stops working...
I tried removing all background signal checking and all unnecessary options, and also I did reset it to factory twice, but the problem persisted...
I have my former S7 Edge on the same network without problems...
I am having the same issue. Disconnect then reconnect every few min.
I had one disconnect this morning but it transfered to the 2G instead of the 5G.

Check your network settings; it may be switching between LTE and WiFi to "conserve energy, buy having the strongest connection." I have had that issue in the past with other devices.

Tried that already, but it is completely disabled..
In fact
Nearby Device Scanning is OFF
Wifi Calling is OFF
Location is PHONE ONLY
Smart Network Switch is OFF
Network Notification is OFF
Hotspot 2.0 is OFF
Keep WIFI on during sleep ALWAYS
and it is still happening.....
When I was first provisioning the device at home I was running it off a Ubiquiti AP Pro and kept getting disconnected. I took it off WiFi and ran the setup on 4G LTE only and connected to my WiFi after. I run Google Fiber and did some 5GHZ speedtest and was never less than 600mpbs up and down. Absolutely 0 chance the initial issue is my network at home. I haven't seen it disconnect since the initial setup but that does worry me a bit. I'd wipe the network profile and set back up.
Probably unrelated but I've found that the 5Ghz WIFI strength on my S8 5.8inch is terrible. The 2.4Ghz is fine though. Compared to my Pixel the 5Ghz is on average about 1/3 the connection speed at same range as the pixel and has much lower strength signal (testing with WIFIAnalyzer). If I cup the phone with 2 hands in landscape mode (how I normally watch videos) I often lose my WIFI connection completely from the 5Ghz network here.
Me to having same issue with WiFi disconnect automatically getting irritated from that
How to fix this guys
Had the same problem on mine. Setting the IP address to a Static IP fixed the issue.
Try going to settings, backup and reset, reset network settings. See if that works.

Hello there!
I'm been having a strange problem with my device, which causes a semi reboot.
I mean semi, because it appears to be rebooting, but it's faster and it seems to not complete the whole rebooting process.
I've been investigating and discovered that it's related to WIFI.
I have a Archer C9 with 2.4 and 5Ghz wifi. Each is set to a different SSID, so I know which band I'm using.
My S8+ is a FD Exynos at ZTO/CRC7 Oreo.
There's a option in advanced settings of wifi section, that automatically alternates from wifi to mobile, when wifi signal is weak.
So I found a spot in my bedroom where the S8+ loses wifi signal for a moment, but it's sufficient to make it alternate to LTE, either in 2.4 or 5Ghz bands (even though the 2.4 Ghz gets 40~50% signal in that spot).
After that, the cellphone keeps saying that wifi is weak and won't let me reconnect to it, even if I'm close to the router.
After a minute it reboots and connects to the wifi.
I disabled that option and so far (15h) it hasn't rebooted yet, even if I go to that spot (it loses wifi signal there, but recovers after a few seconds)
Is that a software issue or a hardware issue?
Thanks a lot in advance!
seems like a software issue since it works after reboot
try resetting the phone to factory defaults
Hello Guys,
I just bought the phone in the title while I was travelling in the USA, I actually live in Italy. This is a Note 10+, the phone works fine, the mobile network work wonderful. The only problem that I have is with the WiFi connection.
Essentially the WiFi has a huge number of packet loss / disconnections, it is not a home wifi issue, as all of my other devices are just working fine. To make sure I also tried two other WiFi networks and I'm always having the same problem.
I already tried to reset the network settings, but that wasn't helpful.
I'm running on N975U1UEU1ASH4, which is the latest firmware available for this model as far as I can see.
I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue with this phone and found a solution for this problem.
Thank you very much
i'm in the process of setting up my device and wifi keeps dropping (! icon next to the the wifi icon/signal in status bar). it won't auto-reconnect; i have to turn wifi off and on manually for it to work again. minutes later, it'll go down again and i have to toggle again...
this is irritating. has anyone else also experienced this?
No WiFi issues here.
The wifi strength of my note 10 is significantly worse. My previous note 9 had signal in my bedroom or my floor ,but note's 10 signal is very frustrating. Same on Samsung
