Hello everyone. I am facing a serious problem. I have 500+mb in my internal storage but the /system directory has oly 5 mb left. I need the /system directory to be about 100mb free because i need to convert some user apps into system apps. Moreover i know that i can uninstall some bloatware to increase space but trust me i removed all the unnecessary apps. Since /system directory is a part of the internal storage is there any method to allocate more space to /system.? Screenshots included.

Wrong phone, wrong forum lol. You probably have old moto e or something. Sure you can change partition layout but this might be dangerous because you need to modify bootloader.

My internal storage is full and the /data folder says its size used is 28.05 MB when on Properties on root explorer, BUT if it is opened, it says 113.48 MB used and 13,65 MB free.I don't know how to fix this. There's something that is fulling my internal that I don't see. PLS HELP
how to increase the p500's internal memory?
I am facing a problem with an app, that it refuses to download the data package, saying that there isn't enough internal memory(it says it need around 270mb)(it's a game ), so I am wondering how to increase the internal memory. I know there are apps like link2sd, but I think that don't suit me because the app would just still detect "insufficient" internal memory.
how to increase the internal memory and also let apps detects enough memory?(I guess I need to mount the whole data partition from the ext-sd? just a guess, I don't know...)

`are you sure you linked the sd-ext properly? cos once it is, it should act as the usable internal memory of the phone.
try increasing the sd-ext size, say 1 gb, that should leave enough space for the game n all the other apps you wanna install. also, some ROMs are not compatible with ext2 partitons. try repartitioning to ext3 or just convert ext2 into ext3 using recovery.
follow these links if you have any doubts.

Hi guys,
I am using HTC Desire 816 handset which contains 8 gb of internal memory.
In that 8gb i can use only 3.9gb for storing app related files and other stuffs, remaining space occupied by OS.
Currently i am facing memory not available issue while downloading through internet or installing new apps.
so i checked the space available in internal memory using ESS file explorer and
found 400mb space free and 3.5gb space used.
But i dont have that much files in my internal memory.
So i selected all the files in the "emulated" folder ("0" & "Legacy") and checked the properties which shows total
size is 1.8gb.
Here my confusion is both the files are of size 1.8gb.But i select both the fiels and check the whole space it is showing 1.8gb only.
So where is the remaining space, which file occupying that space, can i delete that files.
please help me.
Hello there,
i am using a rooted Galaxy S Plus with stock firmware (GT-I9001 Android 2.3.3 GINGERBREAD.XXKG3)
When using Total Commander to check folder sizes i get the following results:
/mnt 3,7G
/sdcard 3,5G
/system 217,1M
/proc 19,9M
/etc 1,9M
/lib 177,8k
all other folders 0
combined file size of all files directly in / ~800k
The root info shows the following information:
SD-card 1,9G / 4,9G (internal storage from the S plus)
SD-card (2) 792,1M / 1,8G (external sdcard)
File system root 45,4 M / 1,3 G (HERE IS THE PROBLEM/CONFUSION!!!)
Settings>SD card and phone storage
SD card
Total space 1,86GB
Available space 792MB
USB storage
Total space 4,99GB
Available space 2,00GB
System storage
Available space 45,44MB
So my phone tells me "LOW ON SPACE" because File system root is only 45M left and this would mean 1.25G occupied space... looking on the other table.. i am not even using 250M on the system...
Where is the rest of the aprox 1G system space!?
I have freed so much space in the past and still the system gets full and running out of space, without the 250M raising... it was around 350M couple of months ago when i last did a cleanup because of lack of space... and the ~100MB are GONE again.. and i have no clue where.. and how the hell i could claim the missing 1GB on the system storage (not the internal sd storage).
Any advice/help/hint could help.... i had to uninstall so many apps i have been using the past WITHOUT ISSUES or low space.. it looks like something is eating up space in the shadows and not giving it back. -.-
P.S. If any more info is required (which i can't think of right now) i am glad to provide if possible/applicable...

Greetings,
Thank you for using XDA Assist.
Please create an XDA account so you can post in other sections.
After doing that, please ask in the specific Q&A thread for your device found here:
Galaxy S Plus I9001 Q&A
Good luck and welcome to XDA!
Hello,
I have a GoClever Aries 785 (M7841) Tab, and supposedly it is an 8 GB tab, since I can ot post any images because I am a new user this will be harder, I will try to transcript from the screenshots I have taken, here we go:
1. You see this when you press the "Storage" tab in settings:
Storage
Rom information
Internal Rom 8192 MB
System 7528 MB
User Available 664 MB
Okay so, What does all this mean? Am I missing something obvious here? Internal Rom as I understand is the total memory the device has? And System is how much is currently being used as a total? User available is self explanatory. I am not new to flashing Android Roms and such, but this is confusing me for some reason. Moving on to the next image and closer to the main question
2 In the same "Storage" tab I see a section called:
Flash storage
Total space: 5.06 GB
Available: 664 MB
(And on it goes with how much storage the apps, pics and so on occupy)
As I understand, this Flash Storage is an emulated internal SD card or something
3. Another section is:
Internal storage
Total space: 0.98GB
Available: 287MB
Apps (SYSTEM APPS IN FACT) and cached data takes about 500MB
So that adds up to what? 6 GBs? As I understand 3 GB is hidden and used by the Android system?
The point of all this is this leaves me with like a half a GB to download apps and install them because they all go to internal storage and not flash storage or SD card. WTF? I am constantly having issues of low storage and when I reach a certain limit Google Play does not even let download apps. I can have the Flash storage as empty as I want and an SD card as large as I want but because the internal storage has only 300 MB available I am not able to download apps. I can download apps if there is free internal storage and move them to flash storage from the app manager, but the system still leaves some data in the Internal storage and I do not think I can move them to an SD card, so since when I move an app to the Flash storage and it leaves some data in Internal, I come to a point when it is full again and there is nothing I can do about it. I cant select the default write disk to be Flash stage or SD, but I think it is only for the camera, voice recorder and etc. How do I work around this? Is there a way to reparation the storage so there would be more space of Internal storage? Or maybe some thing else I could do? I can not even have apps like Facebook or the Google Docs that I need, I have to constancy clean cache so I cant at least get like 20 MB more.
Device is rooted, I can access device internal storage with ES file explorer.
If you have gotten this far, I thank you for reading my novel, I have tried to explain everything as clear as I can and to include as much info as I can, some of it might have been useless. Sorry for a long post.
No one has the answer?
Hi !
If the device has been rooted then some improper storage readings may occur
Install DiskInfo from playstore for a better image of your storage
You can use but be careful with SdMaid from playstore as well
Basically , a 8GB Rom is the total storage your device has been built with which actually means 7629.39 mb in real
From this amount , 3 gb may be the system which you can`t fill it up with user`s apps or personal files , the rest of it is the user`s space storage from which 500 mb is the cache
In the end , without any personal files or user`s apps , the amount of available storage may be 4291.53 mb so , try to remove all the personal (media) files away (audio , video, downloads ...) and check how much free space you`ll get
Your system may be capable of moving user`s app to flash storage but this is limited to certain folders like data folder of the application , the obb won`t move out
A good application is Apps2Sd from playstore but again , be very careful and properly read the xda`s thread before doing anything
Good luck !
