Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930FD Wi-Fi connectivity problems! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi,everybody!
So I just got my S7 a few weeks back. It's been working properly. But there's this one thing that's been bugging me some of the days. Every time my phone connects to the Wi-Fi and if I don't use it, the connectivity just goes away just like that. And it shows 'Internet Not Available' . Even though I disabled the Wi-Fi from going off when the phone locks, the Wi-Fi still goes of with no reason. Is there a solution to this issue? Please help.
Also I tried resetting the network certificates and stuff, still doesn't seem to help out

No issue at my end

Sometimes i have this Problem too.
But only when this Option under WiFi is activated.
Sorry for German Screenshot :silly:
Disable it and test again?

[Q] Wi-Fi connectivity issues

Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my Wi-Fi connectivity on my N5 and it's freaking me out! :crying:
When I'm trying to connect to my home network, the Wi-Fi icon is getting orange after some random time.
Some times it gets back to white, some times it's not.
I know its a known issue but nothing seems to fix it.
I tried everything - reboot my phone, reboot my router, reboot into safe mode, forget the network and connect again, toggle into airplane mode and back, change Wi-Fi settings to connect only to 2.4 GHz, avoid poor connections, update my router firmware.
NOTHING worked!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is factory reset but I read some people saying it didn't help them either.
Only turning Wi-Fi off and than on again makes it "white" again for some other random time.
I'm running stock everything on a rooted device with Android 4.4.4 build KTU84P.
My Wi-Fi is working great with other devices in the network including a Nexus 7 2012 and some laptops.
And it seems that my Nexus 5 is connecting fine to other Wi-Fi networks.
It worked fine in the past and I think it all went wrong when I replaced my Modem.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Do you think maybe the Lollipop update will fix this annoying issue?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention (I guess it is obvious) - I can't connect to any website or run any network connected app when I'm "orange" (I know it means I'm not connected to google services).
Tried also to change my Wi-Fi channel. still not working.
Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong here?
This is really frustrating ... :crying:
Well, I'm kind of talking to myself here, but in case someone else is facing this annoying issue, here is what fixed it for me eventually:
Configure a static IP to my phone in the router configurations ! :victory:
Before that, I also tried to disable Wi-Fi optimization in the phone Wi-Fi settings, buy it didn't seem to help.

[Q] HELP! Verizon samsung galaxy s6 wifi connectivity issues.

I just got the galaxy s6 two days ago and I am already having wifi issues. The phone tells me that the signal is very strong but it cannot load pages and tabs keep crashing. I have to turn off wifi and then turn it back on multiple times to fix the issue. After about 15 minutes it goes right back and continues with the same issue. I know this is not a modem or router issue because all of my other devices are connected and have no issues of loading anything work perfect. Just posting to see if anybody else has this same issue. Please keep me informed if you have found a fix. Thank you!
Exactly having the same issue with WiFi
Same issue here as well. No issues with my older HTC One, but my S6 is having really bad issues with staying connected to WiFi.
Well i figured out the problem. There is an issue with it configuring to different router settings. I changed the authentication type to wpa2-personal and has been working fine with zero issues now.

Did you manually change the settings in s6?
No. I had to go into the router settings and change it manually. Phone will switch to the changed setting automatically.

tronic86......thank you! Finally! Something that worked! It's been driving me crazy. I've tried every every every other trick....DNSet....cache clear....ipv6 changes....manually changed dns to Google....nothing worked until I switched to lower wpa2 setting. You're the only person I've seen post this fix after extensive searching. Hallelujah.

Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930FD Wi-Fi connectivity problems.

Hey guys! I'm facing a real bad problem in my Galaxy S7 which I had brought last June. Since then whenever I connect to my WiFi network, the signal drops whenever I use any apps and the wifi disconnects automatically. The WiFi is still on but when I go to check in the WiFi settings, it shows "Internet Not Available". I don't what might have happened. I've tried factory reset and resetting the Network Certificates. What should I do? Please help!
Thanks!?

Have you already updated your device to 5.1.5 via OTA?

Seriously, sounds similar like the bug from Lineage OS in OPO but the other way round. My OPO while leaving a wifi coverage area, will not be able to switch to mobile data. It just shows an X on mobile data. Only fix was to reboot. The issue happened while I was connected to a 5GHz wifi though, and soon after switching to 2.4GHz wifi, I did not face the issue anymore. I know your device is the newer OP6, but maybe you can try to observe when exactly does the issue happen. Only at office, home and etc? And what is the wireless freq band 2.4 or 5 just to verify if it has anything related.

Did you start experiencing the issue before or after the update?

I don't know, I updated immediately to 5.1.5
The problem has been happening consistently during the few last days, in my Wifi advanced options it used to be Wifi always on , i changed it to no in the keep wifi during sleep
So now whenever the phone sleeps more than 10 minutes and disconnects from the wifi , when I use it again it does not connect to the wifi and when I go into wifi options I can't turn the wifi On. If I wait for 4 -5 minutes with the screen on, the problem resolves itself and a restart solves it immediately
Edit: this Problem has been happening for a lot of OnePlus 3 3t 5 5t users ...

I see, thanks for clarifying your case. So in your situation, it most likely started after changing the "Keep wifi on during sleep". Did you try to revert that setting and verify if issue still persist? Not sure if OP toggled this same setting as well.
EDIT: Found this reported in oneplus forum with regards to op6.

Wifi dozing off after some period of inactivity on phone.
Hi,
I have the same issue of wifi dozing off after some period of inactivity. The wifi symbol always shows that the wifi is connected. And I have the setting of "keep wifi always on during sleep". I found this issue on my new phone I bought, a month back. Customer service were very quick to send a replacement phone. But I can see this issue on the new phone too. I need to turn off my wifi and turn it back on many times in the day to get my messages and emails or to browse online. Whatsapp calls don't get through too. I have checked this issues with 2.4ghz and 5 GHz WiFi networks. My phone is currently running on OS 5.1.8. I think OnePlus customer service has created a ticket for this issue. Kindly let me know if anybody had this issue and got it resolved.
I love the phone. I would hate to not be able to use it.

I have the exact same problem!
I thought it to be my router/access point so actually set up a completely new router and access point (which was overdue anyway), but problem is still happening.
Every other wifi device works fine.
Also on OS 5.1.8

Hi guys, I've got a OP6 5.1.9, android 8.1.0, I was having the same problem. I tried everything ;reboot, plane mode, turn off and on router, change to wifi setting to static... but all didn't work.
Then I thought of changing the SSID Name (wifi network name) and now I can connect my phone.
Hope this solution works for you.
I am on Android Pie beta 3 and still facing the same issue.
Possible Solution!
Phone: OnePlus 6 - Android 9.0 pie
Just came across this problem starting last week. It initially started by connecting to 5G wifi when I got home from work but not the internet. Switching to 2.4 worked then back to 5G also worked. Yesterday nothing worked, not even neighbors wifi for work wifi. Tried everything on here and what google suggested but as most of you nothing worked. Today I found a solution..
1.) Open SETTINGS
2.) Go to SYSTEM
3.) Go to RESET OPTIONS
4.) Open Wi-Fi, MOBILE & BLUETOOTH
5.) Click RESET SETTINGS
6.) Enter Password and re-click RESET SETTINGS
DISCLAIMER:
It DID NOT reset my apn or mobile settings to default on Tmobile. Phone worked just fine and reconnected immediately to the mobile network. WIFI now seems to be working just fine. Hope this helps some of you!

Wont Stay Connected to Wi-Fi

My Samsung Galaxy S7 stays connected to Wi-Fi for anywhere between a couple of minutes to 30 minutes before dropping the network. I can still see a list of all of the networks, and this happens no matter what Wi-Fi I am connected to. My home network, my work Network, my friends Network. This issue began after I factory reset my phone and put a new SIM card in it.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated! I am with Cricket Wireless, have been since 2013 and I've never had network problems with them.
Bumping this thread
Does anyone have any ideas as to things i can do to help with a wifi issue? Whthere specific to Galaxy S7 or not?
I just want my phone to work normal again..
Please help.
Hi,
One thing you can do is try is;
Click on the wifi icon in the shortcut drop down menu
Long click on your network connection to bring up an additional menu
Click on 'show advanced options'
And under 'IP Settings' click 'Static' rather 'DHCP' and see what happens.
Let me know how that works out for you and we can move from there if need be.
Best,
Do you use battery saver? Also if you've unlocked the developer menu have you changed any WiFi settings in there?
I've got a similar problem. My phone stays connected but after a while it says no internet connection with ! On the wifi icon. All other devices work just fine. Ive tried disabling everything. I also set fixed ip. But no luck. Problem persists.
Does anyone have a clue?

Mine has started staying connected now after an android update i received last week. I wish i could be of more help. Maybe make sure your phone has the memory space, and then while its connected to wifi, try and look for an update. Look for the version you have and see if its up to date. If you aren't able to get it updated on your own, you may take it to your carrier and see if they can help!
