Stock S6 stuck on Samsung logo after enabling UPSM; Data recovery? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have a standard s6 with stock EE (UK) firmware 6.0.1 installed (non rooted) . The other day I put it in UPSM mode. But soon after, the phone just restarted and now just gets stuck on the Samsung logo screen. If left long enough, the phone vibrates once.
I can get in to both recovery and 'download' mode. Tried wipe cache and flashing the same firmware using odin. Odin goes through successfully but the device still gets stuck at the same place.
The main thing is that I need to get the data off the phone. Any ideas how I can do this,( I don't think USB debugging or developer mode were/are enabled) ? Or indeed remedy the boot loop?
Thanks

Any advice on this folks?
If anyone knows of a way I can recover the data at least, whilst the phone is in this state, would be appreciated. The only thing I have not tried yet is a factory reset from recovery (because of data loss). If I am able to recover the data and then a factory reset fails, I am still under warranty so that should not be an issue.
Thanks in advanced.

Samsung Unusual Between Boot loop and Softbrick? Data recovery.

Hey guys,
Is data recovery possible after a flash? Also, what is wrong? I have searched but no answer directly hits on this. I am not a tech guy- Biology- sorry for that ahead. To the issue, I dlowded a software update to my Galaxy s3.....and boom froze on Samsung screen. I can turn phone off and on. It would not boot past Samsung. So I went into cache partrition, and tried a system reboot- cannot. So then I seen a program that supposively recovers data after factory reset if you do nothing else to the phone. However, problem I hit te dreaded factory reset- nothing. Over a software update? My computer is not recognizing the device. So I went to Samsung, they tried installing software, however, the computers were recognizing, but not connecting. One tech said they did not have flash- I went back again, the othertech said they did. Anywho, after 4 days, I forked my phone over to a repair guy. He I believe tried Odin- as it currently sits in odin mode. Now it was getting into download mode- but ow I have this message- " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." A samsung guy mentioned it might be able to be flashed, as my concern data- not backed up. This info is pretty important, as I have several contacts and mssgs. The two modes my phone can go into: Odin and recovery. I could really use the help, on both saving data, and getting the phone to fire- as it might be able to- but data?
Thanks in advance.

[Completed] Gionee p52 Bootloop

I bought my phone about 3 months ago (Gionee p5w) and i had no custom roms installed. Yesterday i saw that there is a system update available. I think i rooted my phone using king root(not sure of version). Update on my phone wouldnt install... so i factory reset without clearing the phone memory thats when problem arised, nothing was reset except the text size setting. So i thought of going into factory mode to reset my phone and started phone with vol up and power key pressed . Factory mode didnt show up and now i am stuck in a bootloop. It shows bootloader logo and restarts again and again. I cant even go to normal mode and start my phone. I remember booting into factory mode when i bought it. Please help me fix it

Hello & welcome to xda-assist,
first of, we don't provide technical support here our job is to direct you through the boards here on xda-developers.
When you root your phone system updates will cause serious problems if you don't unroot before and revert all changes on system partition. So bootloop was expected to happen.
Only cure for that would be to reflash your phone's firmware, to find A) the appropriate firmware for your phone model and B) lern how to flash on your phone I would suggest you to visit this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
and
Do a basic Google search on "your phone model + firmware" and "how to flash stock rom on your phone model"
Good luck

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset

My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset
A mobile app. for Android was installed successfully and since then I’m only having issues with my Samsung mobile:
- Since the installation of both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps, my mobile freezes during any regular action and after a few seconds the device auto-restarts itself intermittently; this happened during the weekend while in use;
- Sunday night I uninstalled both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps and the phone continued to freeze and restart intermittently. I was able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning after the phone was turned off and turned on, the phone is not loading; the boot is looping and unable to reach the menu. I’m able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning I did a Factory Reset, when done I get the “welcome” screen and right thereafter, the mobile freezes, auto-restarts and the boot keep looping.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Hey guys, any suggestions...? I tried last night restoring the OS using Samsung Smart Switch application and the process went just fine the first time and during the setup process the phone just restarted against and for stuck in bootloop again.
I did a second attempt but after the PC is don and the phone boots it gets stuck.
Sometimes after restoring stock firmware and you get a bootloop, you have to boot to stock recovery and factory reset then wipe cache partition.
I know you said you did that once before you posted, you did that before you used SmartSwitch. Have you tried factory reset since restoring with SmartSwitch?
Yes, I did with SS last night; I did it again this morning and after completing the 100% software download, it started updating the device and at 97% it stopped and got the message "FAILED".
now as we speak, I restarted it again and now it's at 66^ downloading the files.
How can I perform a clean install using SS...? or do I need ODIN...? I want to keep the mobile as original as possible.
If you can find your stock firmware, download it and flash it with Odin, it's more reliable.
Maybe a stupid question: Where can I find my stock firmware...?
My info:
PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)
I found the Firmware on SAMMOBILE: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s6-edge/SM-G925F/XFA/download/G925FXXU4DPIX/108273/
Is this a stock Firmware and reliable source...?
Sammobile is a very reliable source, if that firmware is the newest one for your model number and country/region/carrier then you're good to go.
I did install Firmware corresponding to my phone (PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)) using Odin, I can use the phone for like 2 or 3 minutes and then it freezes, restarts and gets into boot loop.
Any more drastic measurements to take...? Is there an online tool to test the hardware function(s)...?
After flashing stock firmware, have you tried booting to stock recovery then do the factory reset and wipe cache then reboot.
Yes, I did...!
In ODIN, do I load only the "AP"...?
In most situations, AP is all you need if the firmware is an all in one firmware file, if you have a 4 part firmware then you need to put each part in its corresponding tab/slot in Odin.
Sometimes you have to flash more than once to be successful.
My phone is running like a horse now...! No more intermittent restarts nor boot looping.
I just did a clean install of Android 7.
The clean install of Android 7 went fine and now it's working back again, was because I changed the "Reactivation Lock" to OFF; I think this helped.

Galaxy S7 G930U Unlocked stuck in boot loop - already flashed successfully but no fix

I'm really hoping you guys can help me out here. This is an S7 I bought from a Best Buy when I visited the US in 2017, and I got the Unlocked version so I would be able to use it back in my home country. Unfortunately, this is the second time I've had trouble with it in a span of 4 months and the first time it was a hardware problem and ended up quite expensive to get fixed.
Today I was using my phone normally when I decided to use the Google instant translation to translate something on my computer screen. That caused my phone to freeze, restart, and then tell me I was using an unauthorized flash and it was going to be locked, or something like that. Even after restarting a few more times, the phone would never get past that screen. I proceeded to factory reset/cache reset and from then on the phone just got stuck in a boot loop.
I learned that the fix would be to flash the phone. After a lot of work I found the G930UUESACSI1-20190930144640 firmware (the XAA version, for Unlocked) and successfully used Odin 3.13 at the Download Mode screen to flash my phone. It then restarted, went back to the blue screen, started installing some updates, when it was 100% it restarted again. Unfortunately, the loop remained. Galaxy S7 logo first, then the Samsung logo, then it just repeats.
I have also tried turning the phone off with the Recovery screen shut down option (since I can't seem to be able to turn it off with the power button right now), wait a few minutes, then turn it back on. Nothing changed.
Please, does anyone have any insight into this? What else could I possibly try, or what could I be doing wrong? I really don't want to send it to repair yet again in such a short time.
Many thanks in advance.

You need to clear the cache after flashing to get out of the boot loop.
Use the download key combo to restart. As soon as the screen goes black move to Volume up+home+power.
In the recovery menu choose clear/ Wipe cache, then choose reboot.
I apologize for not updating this thread before when it was still recent. The fact is that I didn't manage to fix my phone; clearing the cache after flashing did nothing to stop the loop.
I ended up taking the phone to the people who have fixed it in the past and after more than one month, they gave up. So I got my phone back and I want to try to give it another go before I just sell it for parts.
Unfortunately, my phone has come back even worse. Now it has no Recovery Menu to speak of, at least none that I can access; after a few seconds of the blue text on the top saying that it's entering recovery mode, it then proceeds to a blue screen saying: "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software and is locked.". I can still access Download Mode.
I have attempted flashing a few firmwares that I believe should have worked with my SM-G930U. Odin listed the attempts as "pass" and, after restarting and going back to the Download screen, it says the binary is Official. However, after trying to restart the phone normally, it starts displaying the blue screen again, and then, after going to Download mode, the binary is reverted to "Custom".
I believe right now the order of the day is to get the recovery menu to work again so I can do all the cache cleaning that seems to be required after flashing firmware. Any ideas at all on how I should proceed? Is there something specific I should download to fix the recovery menu?
How many files are you flashing in Odin, is it just 1 file in the AP slot, or 4 files: AP, BL, etc.? Also, is your phone rooted?

Never rooted, was using the phone legit before it froze and entered boot loop. I flashed all 4 files, multiple times.
Someone tried fixing my phone a few days after I replied to this thread and some progress seems to have been made, but now the phone cannot get past a black screen with a "SBL Error! rdx_init!" in red text, and "upload mode" in yellow text. Still cannot access Recovery Mode, but Download Mode still works.
I did a little Googling on rdx_init errors and it seems I need a firmware dump from another G930U or something like that...any ideas on how I can proceed?
Flash it with Eng Boot in all slots using patched Odin. Reboot to recovery and wipe it. Reboot system. Then root it with advanced adb root. Links for all of this are here in xda. Enjoy

Sorry, I'm not an expert at this by any means, I'm not sure what files to get. So far I've found and downloaded the following:
S7_Oreo_Nougat_Adb_Advanced_Root_V10
S7_Oreo_Nougat_Adb_Advanced_Root_V12
S7_Oreo_Su_Binary_Only_ADB_Root
But I had no luck flashing any of these cause my binary is 10. Is there any more help you can provide me? I really don't know how to proceed

I thought I had one in my phone, but I don't. If you look at the thread where you downloaded the Root_V12, you will see it. It's near the end of the thread somewhere.

Recover data of frozen Samsung Galaxy A51 SM-A515F

Hello,
my friends Samsung Galaxy A51 crashed while using it, opening a google docs link she received via WhatsApp.
Restarting the phone will only show Samsung logo, then Samsung Galaxy A51 logo and then dead again. No boot loop.
In the morning the wake up alarm set in the phone plays its chimes but display remains black.
Rebooting phone with holding volume down doesn't work.
The phone is not rooted or flashed.
I can enter Recovery mode. Tried to restart system. Tried to delete cache. Tried to repair apps. None of this changed anything.
I can connect via adb but only in Sideload mode. Hoped to unsintall Samsung Browser as this might be a damaged app. But I don't have permission because USB debugging is not toggled. I tried adb restart and adb restart recovery. Phone will no restart to Android. Restarting to recovery works but doesn't solve the problem.
I can bring the phone to Download mode. Btw. none of the tutorials helped to do this. At some point I double-tapped the power button and was surprised to get into Download mode. I wanted to flash TWRP recovery to the phone to get more options to backup and recovery. Unfortunatley the OEM protection did not allow me to flash TWRP recovery.
My friend is from Ukraine and has her Ukrainian banking app registered with this phone and currently no other possibility to access her bank account. Also she has a lot of data like contacts, messages, photos and videos only on this phone. So we can not do a factory reset.
Do you have any other ideas for troubleshooting?
Do you have any ideas how to remove OEM protection without access to OS so I can at least flash TWRP and do a backup?
Do you have any other idea how I could backup the phone?
Unfortunately I still have not been successful to get the phone working again or to backup or read any data.
Just to add another information: I drained the battery to 0% so the phone was totally dead. I was not optimistic that this full power off might help any more than the restarts I did so far. But running out of ideas. It didn't help or change anything.
I'm afraid only a factory reset could at least repair the phone :-(

Without OEM-Unlocking and USB-Debugging you will not be able to install TWRP and if so then all data would be gone automatically anyway, as this is equivalent to a factory reset.
The only way would be to download the STOCK-ROM with "Frija" (quick and free) and flash it with "Odin". Of course, the mobile phone is then virgin and has to be set up again from the beginning. A Google login restores a lot of data. Setting up the banking app again (username & password, etc.) shouldn't be a problem either.
Of course you can also try a factory reset first, but setting up a completely new one is not avoided here either.
Much luck!
