Hello,
As you know, TWRP recovery is able to decrypt HTC 10. It would be possible for A9...
Check this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66897894&postcount=204
If some one could help Captain_Throwback, it would be great for our device...:good:
Cheers
im really new to android, so can you please explain what decryption here means? thank you.

HTC Sense roms are data encrypted (internal storage). Then TWRP cannot make data partition backup. The only way for now to backup /data is to format data first.
You could find more informations in xda forums, just google it

i was expecting ICS on Desire S very much because of the possibility of the storage encryption but it seems not to be working on the leaked rom. everytime i want to enable it on this rom it ends up with "encryption unsuccsessful" massage. anyone managed to do it?

You need to format /data with a recovery which has this patch included:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/e5dfd9a3a46afe40df8e7ad7f2d49c978bcb6687
On our device, there isn't a dedicated place to store the encryption information so the last 16kb of /data is used. If this space isn't free, encryption will fail.
Be aware, when testing CM9 encryption using the old 2.6.35 kernel, encryption fails half-way through and you have to format /data to recover. Make sure you take a backup just in-case the leaked kernel has the same issue.
Isn't that decreasing performance?
If so, how much?

I've flash the Firefox os and I want to get back to android. But I suffered a problem on boot loop. Is it the problem of recovery or the rom issue.(recovery: TWRP rom: miui v5) Can any body can suggest a rom for me. Thank You!

MIUI needs an sd-ext partition. Make sure you have it, otherwise, you can use any CM based ROM as well.

Use Cm 10.2 Weekly 6 !
When you partition your sd, You, what you may say, reserve a portion of your sdcard to be used for a specific purpose only. You can use the partition to install apps as internal memory. That partition is known as the sd-ext partition.

Hi, quick question here.
I have my external Sdcard encrypted and I think I'll need to root and probably install a custom ROM. Question is (or are):
For ONLY rooting: Do I need to decrypt the sdcard? Can I re-encrypt it afterward?
Do custom ROM's in general support SD card encryption? (I suppose so, but wanted to ask)
Thanks!

Thank you! Though I think that thread talks about full phone encryption, which although sounds like the same thing it actually isn't. When you have the phone itself encrypted, the OS needs to have the key before booting up fully or else it will not be able to start up correctly. With the SD card this isn't the case and can be encrypted by code at the user-level, post-boot. At least that's how I understand it.

Hey all,
I have found myself getting used to this new A/B partitioning scheme and it is great not having to wipe app/user data as it is shared across both partitions. Is there a reason one would need to factory reset their phone anymore?

If you're having issues with your ROM but then you could just as easy do a fresh install

I had to do a full wipe after too much experimenting broke root. If you are changing custom roms a wipe may be necessary.
I wrote up a guide about A/B here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-noobs-guide-to-b-partitions-op6-t3816123
