Cannot update Profile, PRL, or software - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have an SM-G900P Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 on KitKat 4.4.2 rooted by towelroot, and whenever I try to update the Profile, PRL, or software I get a small caption that says "Initializing application..." and that's all, it never does anything more. I think it may have to do with a service called 'Software Update' that's turned off, but the option to turn it on is grayed out/disabled. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I may have figured out how to make software update to work, but have no time yet for trying it. But I still get "initializing application" when updating PRL or profile, and the 'Software Update' service remains greyed out and disabled. Please any help would be great.
Thanks in advance

Ok, I fixed the"Software Update" service, it is no longer greyed out. But PRL or Profile refuse to update, and still gives me "Initializing application" If anyone reads this, I'd really appreciate some help here

Problem with the HTC member page

Hey, I was looking around to get the 1.34.405.1 rom version for my vox, so I went to the HTC website made an account and registered my phone. All of that worked fine, but when I click the "Phone Software Updates" button, nothing shows up on there. It works when I click the "Other Downloads" button, but I want to get to the "Phone Software Updates". Can anyone help me out, or just post all the updates that I'm missing? Thanks.

Can't download APPS

Hi guys, my Captivate won't download apps from Android Market. Even if I turn wifi on or off. Any idea why this would be happening. It did this last week, I fixed it by restoring phone. I don't wasn't to do that every week though. Also when I force phone to check for updates its say "DM initialisation is not ready. Check network or sim card"
Maybe you should take it to the AT&T store - they may know whazzup.
I took it to store, call customer service, and spoke to Samsung customer service last week. Nothing they said or tried help. I figured out to restore it on my own would fix it..... none of them even suggested that option.
I know that this is an old thread but I thought it might be helpful if I post the solution to the “DM initialisation is not ready. Check network or sim card" when trying to check for an OTA update. It seems to be linked to task managers. If the process “Device Management” is not running in the background when you check for an update then you will receive the DM error message. What I do is add an exclusion to the Device Management process in my task manager.
it sounds like you'll need to do another reset. I had that problem when I tried a rom from the i9000 phone. It had left over remnants from the original rom. I'm back to the at&t rom again because it runs the smoothest and I like it the best though it's kind of ordinary.

[Q] Phone randomly tries to "Connect to DM server..."

Every so often I noticed the red/blue arrows on the top of the notifications bar stating Device management "Connecting to DM server...." . After a few minutes it pops up a screen with Communication Error.
Also, when I try to do a software update through settings it says "No firmware" without even connecting or checking.
My phone is rooted and was reverted back to 2.1 using Odin after I upgraded to the unofficial 2.2. I haven't been able to do any software updates since. The Firmware version is 2.1-update1. I'm not sure if this is the official latest one or not.
You're up to date. Relax, if a push comes, you'll know about it here first.
I'm just wondering why this randomly happens. Its annoying when my phone starts to lag (even w/ the lag fix) and it drops everything I'm doing to show a screen saying "connection failed."
Additionally, i'm on a 200mb data plan and it uses a significant amount of data on 3G.
My phone kept habitually checking the DM server all the time after the last official update. I finally went into Manage Applications and cleared the cache on Device Management.

I didn't find the DM server in Manage Applications but I did find it in the Running Services and disabled it from there. Since then it hasn't popped up so I think this fixed it. Thanks!

You have to set the filter to "All" instead of the default "Third Party" for it to show up. Forgot about that.

"Motorola Service Account" needed for System Update

Hi guys, sorry if this had been covered, but I just couldn't find it in the forum.
I'm trying to update my dad's Droid 2 Global (GSM, outside US), from stock 2.2 (with no updates applied ever) to gingerbread via OTA.
But when I tap on System Update, it states that it shows the following:
"Motorola account required:System update*is not available without a Motorola service account"
I've defrost bloatware, unrooted with z4root, and rebooted twice, but it's still there.
Any idea how to get around this? Thank you very much.
Let it "register with the server" and it will be ok (takes few moments on the rolling circle - be patient) Of course, make sure phone can connect to the internet...
Thanks for the reply
only option in that popup was to "setup account" if I remember correctly, phone's not with me at the moment.
When I tap on that, it just shows me all the app accounts that my phone has, ex: google, whatsapp, email. There isn't any Motorola Service account. There is one that could be nearest to a motorola service which reads "Backup", but going in there just shows can't connect to server.
I have all the manual updates, and can help you update manualy(not ota) if you want me to
Thanks rootfan
I think I'll try going factory reset first to see if it helps. I'll come back to you if I need any help.
