Hi, got same problem on SG3, it seems last successful sync for me was on 21.07.2013 and then always leas to an error. Same issue with backup and restore function it was done on 13.07.2013.
I did solve thos issue. Problem for me was that "samsung apps" and "samsung push" were deactivated. Since I activate apps it brings update for push and 2 addition apps "samsung hub" and "samsung cloud". Since this update sync works for me.
I recently switched from the regular 3 way slide lock screen to a PIN unlock. I only intended to do this briefly, just to keep people from messing with my phone while it was charging. Anyway, when I tried to switch it back I found that the options Lock Screen, No Lock Screen, and Face Unlock were grayed out with the message "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage". I didn't make any changes to any of those things (unless I did it unknowingly) so I'm not sure why this is happening. I'm running non-rooted stock Verizon Sense 6. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it? I like being able to have an easy lock screen most of the time.
Check your device administrators. It's under settings/security. I know foxfi forces this and some email apps too.

The only device administrator I have is Android Device Manager. I've tried unchecking it and rebooting, but I'm still locked out first three lock screen choices.

I had the same issue. I deleted my VPN profile, then was able to disable the lock screen.

I'm not sure that I have a VPN profile. I do use an Outlook client app for my work email. Supposing that I unknowingly have a VPN profile set up, how would I go about deleting it?

Virtual Private Network is used to connect directly to a private network. VPN may be needed in order to communicate with your companies email client. The settings are located in Settings>More>VPN.
My VPN screen looks like this. It must be some other issue. I imagine we'll be getting a firmware update some time in the next few months, hopefully that will resolve this.
Hope this works for you too.
I faced the same problem with my HTC One M8, and here is how I solved it for myself.
Go to Settings
Under Personal select Security
Scroll down to Credential Storage
Select "Clear credentials (Remove all certificates)"
Once this is done, I managed to gain back the first two options of "Lock Screen" and "No Lock Screen".
Hope this helps you!
Thanks alot

I had the same problem with my HTC M7.
A tryed google`s android device manager website and I locked my device. After that I wasn`t able to clear my password, I just could set another or pin or something.
Clearing the credentials solved this problem, and I could erase my password.
Good luck for everyone
Yes it works perfectly fine.. Thanks

Thanks A Ton Sir u saved my life from locking out of my phone the
Hello,
I am new to this form so please excuse me if i leave out some details but i own a oneplus one black 64gb running the latest ota cm11 update and one day I decided to explore a new app called "snapdragon battery guru." (it was new to me atleast) The app worked great for a week or 2 but then i noticed that my service was being messed up by the app(this isnt the issue) so i looked up some reviews and i saw many other people with the same problem so I decided to uninstall the app... (This is where the problem starts)
After uninstalling the app my phone constantly has messages on common things that i use most importantly the "disable lock screen" when on the home profiles so that i dont have to type in my password at home all the time. However, after uninstaling the app, that option in the profile settings is grayed out and says that it is "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage"... again i looked it up on google and found that clearing my credential storage seems to be a temporary fix that last about 2 hours and then the option ends up graying out again. (which can get really really annoying because my vpns are constantly cleared out every time)
Can anyone please help me with this problem!
Thanks
Jiggy
Have you tried a factory reset? That's your best option.

Settings, security, device administrator, what do you have enabled there
rooted galaxy s4 on stock rom when trying to change settings in wifi, clock, developer option, security, unknown sources willnot change. example, unkown sources is checked and when i uncheck the box it will unckeck but when i back out of security settings and come back to unkown sources is back checked again, same with developer options. example 2, in settings Date and Time automatic time zone is unchecked, when i check the box a check mark will appear but when i back out and come back to it my check is gone. since the problem my wifi will not show a new connection, it will only show wifi iv been connected to in the past. iv tried freezing all apps that have root access, and turning xposed app and apps off and freezing them and a restore from titanium back up and clearing app data. nothing is working and this is driving me bat poop crazy. please help.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you tried performing a factory reset?
No respnose in two days, thread closed.
On stock 5.01. I have it on pin unlock right now but the options to shut it off are greyed out. The only other time I have ever seen that is whenever encryption is enabled which I do not have enabled, why can't I remove it?

Just tested on mine. I set and pin and then removed it. Do you have an app installed that set an administrator level policy on the phone? Under security-device administrators.
I believe that will also occur if you have an exchange email setup and exchange requires it.
Do you have a VPN configured?
Hmm ok. So I went through and deactivated all administraters but still "no lock screen" is greyed out.
No I do not nor have ever had an exchange account or anything other than just gmail.
As far as VPN I do not have one configured. I DO use super free VPN from the play store occassionally, but it hasn't created a noticeable VPN profile in my phone or anything. You have to run the app to even use it, and it gives you absolutely no info about what encryption tech it's using or anything else.
Just a side note, my phone is virgin 5.01 meaning it came straight from the posted ruu and wasn't upgraded from KitKat.
Just an update. Not sure what fixed it but I clicked on "clear credentials" under Security and instantly worked. Figured I would update in case someone else has the same problem!

That is the answer. Next time I looked it was back to the same state so it must be some sort of feature to make it hard on purpose.
