Lock screens disabled by administrator? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I recently switched from the regular 3 way slide lock screen to a PIN unlock. I only intended to do this briefly, just to keep people from messing with my phone while it was charging. Anyway, when I tried to switch it back I found that the options Lock Screen, No Lock Screen, and Face Unlock were grayed out with the message "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage". I didn't make any changes to any of those things (unless I did it unknowingly) so I'm not sure why this is happening. I'm running non-rooted stock Verizon Sense 6. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it? I like being able to have an easy lock screen most of the time.

Check your device administrators. It's under settings/security. I know foxfi forces this and some email apps too.

The only device administrator I have is Android Device Manager. I've tried unchecking it and rebooting, but I'm still locked out first three lock screen choices.

I'm not sure that I have a VPN profile. I do use an Outlook client app for my work email. Supposing that I unknowingly have a VPN profile set up, how would I go about deleting it?

Virtual Private Network is used to connect directly to a private network. VPN may be needed in order to communicate with your companies email client. The settings are located in Settings>More>VPN.

My VPN screen looks like this. It must be some other issue. I imagine we'll be getting a firmware update some time in the next few months, hopefully that will resolve this.

Hope this works for you too.
I faced the same problem with my HTC One M8, and here is how I solved it for myself.
Go to Settings
Under Personal select Security
Scroll down to Credential Storage
Select "Clear credentials (Remove all certificates)"
Once this is done, I managed to gain back the first two options of "Lock Screen" and "No Lock Screen".
Hope this helps you!

Thanks alot

I had the same problem with my HTC M7.
A tryed google`s android device manager website and I locked my device. After that I wasn`t able to clear my password, I just could set another or pin or something.
Clearing the credentials solved this problem, and I could erase my password.
Good luck for everyone

Yes it works perfectly fine.. Thanks

Unable To Remove Lock Screen/PIN

I'm not able to disable the PIN (or any security based lock screen; Password, Pin, or Pattern) and set the phone to just "Lock Screen" or even "No Lock Screen." The Face Unclock feature is also not available.
How do I remove the PIN (without a factory reset?)

Are you connected to a corporate Exchange email account? If so, I think the Exchange admin can require the lock screen and not let you turn it off.

+1 This happened to me on my last phone, built in policy in MS Exchange. I think if you delete the account, you can get the options back.

Only company email account used on the account is accessed through Gmail.
The "Lock Screen" was the selected option, until I tested out the PIN. But then when I went back into setting, Lock Screen and the other two were greyed out. So I can't remove the PIN now.

It's because you locked the microSD card. I had the same thing right now with LG G2 Mini
See if any of these will work for you
http://en.miui.com/thread-5684-1-1.html
it's for rooted devices and I'm not rooted. just delete the micro SD protection

How do you delete micro SD protection? Can this be done without formatting the card?
Of course, because you do not format it. Settings/security/decrypt SD card storage.
of course that option will be shown if you encrypted the card before
I think that also works with phone encrypt so maybe that's why you can't delete pin

So I had this problem but only after this most recent update beginning may. And what I did was go to setting, then security, there should be a credential storage area. I cleared the credentials went back to lock screen and it wasn't greyed out anymore. I don't even know what activated this because all I did was add a pin just like you and then wanted it off and I couldn't. But I solved it. Hope it works for you. Good luck
To opt out, Go to Settings » Accounts» Remove Google and Corporate/Exchange account then restart device.
Now again go to Account and add Google account.
Now lock the phone and try to unlock with invalid PIN/Pattern for 5 times, next it will automatically open SnapView settings, there, remove SnapView.
That's it, Go to Security » Lock screen, enter the current PIN/Pattern, now it will display all other lock options....
100% working for Android Lollipop, others not sure!!

Snapdragon Battery Guru Admin access settings

Hello,
I am new to this form so please excuse me if i leave out some details but i own a oneplus one black 64gb running the latest ota cm11 update and one day I decided to explore a new app called "snapdragon battery guru." (it was new to me atleast) The app worked great for a week or 2 but then i noticed that my service was being messed up by the app(this isnt the issue) so i looked up some reviews and i saw many other people with the same problem so I decided to uninstall the app... (This is where the problem starts)
After uninstalling the app my phone constantly has messages on common things that i use most importantly the "disable lock screen" when on the home profiles so that i dont have to type in my password at home all the time. However, after uninstaling the app, that option in the profile settings is grayed out and says that it is "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage"... again i looked it up on google and found that clearing my credential storage seems to be a temporary fix that last about 2 hours and then the option ends up graying out again. (which can get really really annoying because my vpns are constantly cleared out every time)
Can anyone please help me with this problem!
Thanks
Jiggy
Have you tried a factory reset? That's your best option.

Settings, security, device administrator, what do you have enabled there

Why can't I shut off the lock screen security?

On stock 5.01. I have it on pin unlock right now but the options to shut it off are greyed out. The only other time I have ever seen that is whenever encryption is enabled which I do not have enabled, why can't I remove it?

Just tested on mine. I set and pin and then removed it. Do you have an app installed that set an administrator level policy on the phone? Under security-device administrators.
I believe that will also occur if you have an exchange email setup and exchange requires it.
Do you have a VPN configured?
Hmm ok. So I went through and deactivated all administraters but still "no lock screen" is greyed out.
No I do not nor have ever had an exchange account or anything other than just gmail.
As far as VPN I do not have one configured. I DO use super free VPN from the play store occassionally, but it hasn't created a noticeable VPN profile in my phone or anything. You have to run the app to even use it, and it gives you absolutely no info about what encryption tech it's using or anything else.
Just a side note, my phone is virgin 5.01 meaning it came straight from the posted ruu and wasn't upgraded from KitKat.
Just an update. Not sure what fixed it but I clicked on "clear credentials" under Security and instantly worked. Figured I would update in case someone else has the same problem!

That is the answer. Next time I looked it was back to the same state so it must be some sort of feature to make it hard on purpose.

[Q] Do the eyes have it?

Here's a link about using your eyes to unlock the Idol 3.
http://www.androidcentral.com/use-your-eyeprints-unlock-alcatel-idol-3
However when I go to settings, Eye-D is greyed out - says disabled by administrator. Is there a fix for this?
Afraid you'll have to beg your administrator.

It seems safe from what I tested. My lock screen options were all grayed out except for Swipe and followed a method that says clearing the credentials will allow you to select lock screen options again. I assume it is safe.
Are you using your phone to access your Microsoft Exchange work email ? If yes, then that will put a lot of restrictions on your screen lock settings. Is just Eye-D disabled, or face unlock is disabled too ? Before you clear any credentials etc, you might want to disable Exchange activesync and see if the option is enabled again. For me it was enabled in the beginning, I was able to play with it a little bit. It does work, but isn't really practical. I set up my Exchange activesync and the option is now disabled - and I expected that .
No - I don't have a microsoft exchange email or any other email acct. besides my yahoo one. Eye-D, face unlock and swipe are all disabled.

LG Stylo Cricket (H63410g) Google FRP lock bypass...stuck, requesting input

Hello,
Long time lurker, first time poster, so forgive me in advance for any rules I've overlooked. I'll start by saying I am the legitimate owner of the phone. I have searched all over for information regarding FRP bypass for this particular phone and version, but have come up with nothing. I believe I found a method that gets me halfway to the goal, but I'm stuck at a particular point. Let me quickly go through what I've done so far;
1) After factory reset, from the main setup screen, go into accessibility.
2) At the bottom, click Switch Access.
3) Enable Switch Access, and then click settings in the lower right.
4)At the bottom, click Assign Keys to Actions
5) At the bottom, assign a key press to overview. I use volume down.
6) Back out to the device setup home screen.
7) Click through until you reach the network selection screen.
8) You will need to connect to a network that requires sign-in through a browser. The xfinity hotspots work the best.
9) Once connected to xfinity, the phone will auto open Chrome.
10) Use a free trial for xfinity hotspot, or log in with your comcast credentials.
11) Search google for "google maps", and find the result for google maps.
12) when you click on the google maps link, it will open a menu asking you to choose either chrome or the maps app.
13) select the maps app, and do a search for a random business that has a phone number.
14) Once the business info comes up, click call.
15) This will open the phone app. From there, go into the settings, and click on sound settings.
16) Voila! This brings you to the settings menu.
Now, my issue. It seems there is no way (or no option at least) to do a soft system restore from within the operating system. Now, I have tried disabling various apps, and stopping various proccesses in order to remove whatever process is responsible for the FRP notice, but to no avail. Ive even rooted the device and uninstalled anything I could think might be the culprit.
What do we do next folks??
Halp!
Thanks.:good:
I had this happen to me earlier and used this method. www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=b7xlXPDBxmY Just go download the file over at his blog. Put the phone in download mode and pick option #2. His phone reboots automatically in the video. Mine didn't, but I just powered it off and back on. I then had the option to skip past the the email portion.
just unplug ur router exactly when the phone says checking for updates and it'll let you skip the whole Google account thing. but you have to do it at the perfect time. took me 5 or 6 tries but it worked[emoji56]

Thanks but no, doesn't work. The overview and allow from unknown sources features have been patched. Can't use either option despite being able to backdoor into the browser, downloading the app, and even selecting it to install.

easy peasy
Look I nuked my phone I'm typing on a tripped out barcode scanner. I used lg backup to get through on my stylo. After the reset try and connect to a generic WiFi and then do a screen shot and share it via email that will get you on the web and then you should be able to search for and open up the settings app by choosing manage accounts while in the browser. Once your in settings clear all data on every app that says Google. But if you clear setup wizard you should be good. Then you should be able to restart as a new device
Try disabling the Set Up Wizard

No matter what you do if you can use any method to access the settings app/page from there you can go into the apps section and just disable the setup wizard and you'll get into the phone.
Ive been working on this for hours it feels like, last time i bypassed in ten minutes (different phone). Wont allow me to disable setup wizard or google play services, what options are there? Everything i have tried they have blocked ...
