Hello,
3 days ago my Gear S2 started showing a diferent time as the one that my HTC A9 shows. It shows 1 more hour.
I have tried reseting the watch more than once and the problem continued. I have tried setting the time manually on the phone but i have to have the time on my phone 1 hour less so that the gear shows the correct one.
I tried using network time and also no change.
Here the time zone is -4, the actual time is 5:35 pm on my phone but the watch shows 6:35 pm. If I manually change the time to 4:35 o the phone then the watch shows 5:35 pm.
I last made a downgrade of the firmware on the gear and the problem persisted, after doing the actuallization it continues.
I do not know what else to do.
Please someone help me,
Thanks
Hi there, I'm having a similar problem to this, but my watch is four hours slower than the phone/real time. This is with a Huawei Mate 8 - which already requires the use of an older version of the Gear Plugin app to even let it connect! (With the newest version of the plugin the time is correct - it just won't let the the watch connect to the phone).
Did you manage to sort your problem, and if so are you able to share the answer?
Many thanks
Jonathan

Same problem as Robert, surprised nobody has a fix for this. It has been driving me crazy. Should I call Samsung?
I have figured out a way of solving this case,
(1) Go to settings - Go to connect to new phone.
(2) Once Your watch has reseted, it will take you to the start menu(where it tell you to download the samsung gear app), if you notice, there's a question mark in the corner, click it, then scroll to the last section of the menu, and click the , I am not sure the exact name, connect-by-itself option.
(3) Once you accepted, then it will tell you to set up the watch manually, Date, GMT, and even the time.
(4) Once you've done that then your watch setup process is complete.
(5) Then go to setting and scroll to where it says "connect to phone" (as your watch is on permanent standalone mode, currently)
(6) The watch will then restart and take you to the same menu from the first place.
(7) Make sure that your phone bluetooth is on, and go to the settings in your gear s app, on the top right corner you may notice 3 dots, click it and select connect to new gear.
It worked with my watch successfully, however my watch is 5 minutes behind... so give it a try, if it doesn't work, then I can't help you further than that, I'm truly sorry.
All was fine, until I connect my Gear S2 too my Galaxy S8 again. Then time was set 1 hour + again, and date/time options are gone. That's a DST issue. Brazilian law has changed the date of DST start from this year on...

Hi,
can anybody tell me how I can set another step goal (its set with 6000) - I cant find it on the app at the phone and also not on the gear... But it must be possible to change it, or??
And another question: Can the gear s2 track the sleep? If yes, how to set it or do i need another app for it?
Thanks a lot
Frank
In the S health watch app go to the far right and open the settings menu and you can set your step goal in there.
Thanks for your answer, but it works not! I had only the choice to select the source of the stepcounter (gear or phone).
If I set it to phone I can change the goal - but when I switch back to gear it back again to 6000... And I have again no chance to change it...
Crazy...
As said above, you simply go S Health settings on the watch to change it.
I got it
Thanks for your help...
Or go into s health on s2 and scroll using bezel all the way to the right to Settings and select 2nd option - Step Target, and change target there.
That's exactly what had been advised in the first reply, isn't it?
What about the sleep tracking? For now it would seem they have forgotten it.
How about how to change from phone to gear for soirce? I know its there but can't seem to find it.
Is there anyway to switch function on the S2, i find as per my Gear 2 it is inaccurate (prefer using my mobile) and it consumes battery.
(Reopen Question) How to Change Pedometer Target / Steps Goal on Gear S2
While this was answered over a year ago, either it's changed since then, or I'm misunderstanding.
I can find several S Health widgets, but I can't see the S Health APP anywhere on the S2.
There's even a Pedometer widget, but turn the bezel as i might, I don't find the three-dot menu icon, "More", or "Settings" anywhere.
The Data Source is set to the watch, not the phone. But clicking on S Health even in the Apps List just brings up the 24 Hour Activity Log.
It's a bluetooth-only version of the watch, so there's no carrier involved. I'm using it with a Note 4 on Verizon.
The software version on the S2 ends in EPK5.
Thanks for any help!

I'm running the same version
Launch the S-health app on the S2 - not any of the widgets. Rotate the bezel to the right until you see the Settings "tab". Click on the button at the bottom. Scroll down to Step Target.
Rob
Must "Start" to get to Settings
As I said in my earlier post, starting the S Health app on the S2 simply brought up the 24 Hour Log (circle showing goals for sleep, serious exercise, light exercise, etc.) Rotating the bezel did nothing.
However, if you press the "Start" button on that circle, THEN rotating the bezel will bring up various screens (or "tabs"), including Settings!
Thanks for the help.

I just had to reset my S2 because I got a new phone and I'm having the same issue and reading every forum and Forum post out there and I cannot find how to change this on the watch. Phone is at 10k, S2 is at 6k. Wat them both at 10k. This is so aggravating. These instructions worked like 6 months ago but there is no changing the step Count on the gearas far as I can tell. I'm so annoyed right now LOL the search continues

Thanks for posting your response. I've been struggling for a week trying to figure this out.
I just got a Gear S2 and I am loving it so far, however it appears that the S Health app is tracking steps from both devices along side one another. Normally I would just look at the gear steps, but I am using the Lifesum app in conjunction with S Health, when it pulls in the step data it shows the total from both devices. I have had the watch on me the exact same amount of time I have had my phone on me, S Health says according to my phone I have walked 1775 steps, and reports from the S2 that I have walked 2519 steps, but if I look at my steps in the Lifesum app I get a total of 4294 steps which is not correct.
Is there something obvious I am missing here? Is there a way to turn step tracking off on just the phone so I don't get this double total?
I second this post! I just got the samsung galaxy s7 edge and the samsung gear s2. I see that they are two separate step counters. I wish whatever I saw on my phone was on my watch and vice versa. I don't like having them separate, and I see why they should be separate in case you either leave your phone or watch separately. But then there should be a way to sync the watch data to add onto the phone steps.

Having the same problem with the gear s2 and galaxy s6. When I choose the "all steps" view in s health, it shows the number of steps that get exported to other apps like Pacer (and ultimately myfitnesspal). This looks to be a combination of s2 steps and phone's built in pedometer. I've tested and gear s2 seems much more accurate, so I want to shutoff the phone's pedometer or at least have it export only gear s2 steps to outside apps. Went into s health settings and pedometer is locked on....will not let me turn it off.
Wish they would enable turning off phone's pedometer, not sure why they locked it on. Or give us the ability to control what is exported.

This thread is a little old, but I have a simple solution for your issue that's been around for a relatively long time.
Open the steps screen by tapping the step count graph on Samsung Health main tiles display. In the middle of the screen select Phone for the source of data, then open the menu from top right and tap on Pause. As simple as that, the phone pedometer will stop counting. Don't forget to put the step counter source back on All Devices and you're good to go.

I've recently revisited this. With the latest Samsung Health app this is not a problem any more. The phone will cancel out any duplicate steps and add any that one of the devices didn't monitor.
So for example, Gear S2 9200 steps, phone 7450 steps, all devices 9320 steps (because I took my watch off for example)
So shall I revised the option and stop the (pause steps from phone?)

Hi.
Got all of my 258.5MB of Tizen 3.0.0.1 update last night....and it's packed full of new stuff.
The update itself was a bit bumpy and took a while to get the watch back in use, including having to do a complete reset because the watch faces I has installed myself did not work. I have re-loaded some and they work okay. It gives you an option to order them differently (e.g. newest first), which is useful.
I have not yet been through everything and need to get used to (and happy with) some changes, but it seems to be working okay now. Also, it seems I have more storage than before; it shows 2.53GB / 4.0GB.
You can get a full list of new functions here:
Thanks.
Hi again.
Had a chance today to look at some of the new functions and here are a few highlights:
=> You can now share your custom watch faces with others from your watch, by sending a message to a contact in your list. I tried and it seems to work, however, I will still have to check if it arrived and in what form.
=> Since I had to reload my custom watch faces, I modified a few and did a re-build. In the previous version, this a was longer step because it would not always build the face on my watch first time and i had to try a few times before it would load. Now, its done first time and is super fast!
=> To view your watch faces, if you turn the bezel (left&right), the view shows more faces on the screen, albeit smaller in size, but its really cool and lets you select from the thumbnail view.
=> The functions are grouped a bit differently, and it tells you what's included (e.g. Settings; Watch faces & styles - gives a list of what's included, which is helpful when searching).
=> There's a new Watch Only option, which is supposed to give you many days of use on a single battery charge. However, the screen just shows a simple digital watch view and times-out quickly - not really useful other than for an emergency (say, if you are hiking / traveling / on a flight and can't get it re-charged easily for a few days).
=> the inner circle of the watch is being used much more to provide new info (e.g. with colour-coding & text to tell you what you've selected - say if a set an alarm for 6.00am, there is a blue circle going from 0-6 showing how much time if left. Nice feature.
=> I think I already mentioned before that you can choose to re-order your watch faces, so you either get the same as before, or you can choose to get the new ones created at the start of the list, even before the stock faces. Useful when you have created many and would need to skip through them all to get to your latest face.
Anyway, there's much more to look at, so I think that's all for now. I feel happier with this update, now that I have got over the hassle of having to reset and reload my watch faces, plus a no. of other steps I had to do on the Gear Designer.
Thanks.
(Apologies if there are any typos)
1 terrible new feature is missing from the lists:
turning the watch away now not only puts it in standby/AOD, but also dismisses open notification pop-up and marks them as read.
so now half the time I get a notification it's dismissed the moment I try to read it.
Another useful feature is gone! The back gesture! Now every time I want to go back in the menus I have to reach for the back button!
Any way around that?
So I just updated to this update. I am using the watch maker app to get watch faces. I applied the watch face I've been using for awhile and the watch face font automatically changes to the font I have set for the watch. Is there anyway to keep the font as is from the designer?
Another awful thing missing from this update is how they fail to mention that 3.0 also made the notifications folder "read only" and you can now no longer have custom notification tones; you're limited to ringtones only. Wtf? SMH.

Completley agree. I really like rest of the update. better design of infos, new "Status menu" fast access for example to audio and volume control and so on, but the deleted "back gesture" really kills me...
Tizen 3, S3 HRM and battery life
I gotta jump in on this. I've been a sammy user for many years, like most of you for sure. Phones mostly, a few major appliances, guitar (I think) and Gear S3.
Got the S3 in April. All was fine until August, '17. At that point the HRM went nutty most of the time. In S-health mode (all-the-time heart monitor during walk, run, ect. I'd walk 3mph walking my dog and HRM would record up to 205 BPM with a few reasonable periods around 90 BPM like I would expect from low exertion activity. Running 12 MPH same. Talked to the aweful sammy csr for warranty repair. Indian accent so thick you could tight rope on it. Huh? what? back and forth for 15 minutes. "Jesus, get me to someone I can understand", I was immediately transferred, and worked out the mechanics of the return quickly (If you cann sammy csr, unless you love punishment, as for a native English speaker). Sent it in, week later returned. Wore it on first workout: same-o, same-o.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/help/s3-heart-rate-monitor-wildly-reporting-t3666104
Started over, this time skipping India all together. Sent it in with a note. Week later comes back with a note: The watch is functioning properly. My take on that is "get over it".
Pissed as hell I call again, telling them I don't appreciate the attitude. They can replace the watch or return my money. I was told to send it in. I said **** you and hung up. I can't tell you how bad I wanted to slam the phone down. Good ol' days.
I'm using the watch like normal ever thought the HRM is a total waste. I'm looking for a suitable replacement, but the S3 is on a level of it's own. Damned you Samsung!!!
Enter Tizen 3. Right away I hated the new "functions", but the batter life. Horrid!! Reset, turned off functions like bezel on feature, weather, notifications: I was getting 1.5 to 2 days charge rather than 3.5 to 4 says I was getting on T2.
Not taking this: Called sammy csr, asked for native English speaker, then manager. The csr was ver comforting, and I held back as much as possible, and I was civil, but I had to tell someone at sammy how jumbled-up this whole stupid smartwatch thing was making me. I told her I would not just box it up and send it in for the third time unless she could convincingly assure me I would get this resolved, for once and for all. She was apologetic and made some notes, suggesting I include a screenshot of the activity.
I boxed the goddamn with a two page note, four screenshot prints and a prayer they would either figure-out the problems (HRM & battery) or replace the watch, using Tizen 2 firmware (even if not replaced).
This is where I am at the moment, waiting for the verification email that their service department received my device.
I've read other posts specifically related to decimated battery after flashing Tizen 3, but no one on this thread, up to now, has mentioned it.
You guys having battery issues? If so, how are you addressing these?
How's everything now?
Hello there!
I have a Galaxy Note 8 connected to my Gear Fit2 Pro and after the recent round of app updates I stopped receiving any kind of notifications on my watch when my phone is in "Do not disturb" mode. This is very inconvenient as at work I always have my phone in "Do not disturb" and I rely on my watch to give me the notifications in a discreet way.
Even worse, they don't even get transmitted to the watch, so if I check it, it just says no notifications.
I was able to fix this by reverting back the phone software for the Gear Fit2 Pro:
* Gear Fit2 Plugin to version 2.2.04.19022851 (link)
* Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear) to version 2.2.24.19031361 (link)
I've tried to disable all of the automatic update options I was able to find (both in the google play store, as well as in the samsung galaxy store) and so far I've been able to avoid it moving back to the latest version.
I am the only one seeing this issue? Did someone find a better way out?
Hi!
I can confirm this is actually exactly what I just did! I realized that the notifications didn't work properly after the update, only just today I decided to check out the Playstore reviews of the Galaxy Watch app to see if anyone had similar issues but had the time to post it since the last update and saw someone saying that they wouldn't get any notifications while their phone was in DnD mode, which is the same for me, so I tried disabling the DnD mode and notifications worked normally, so I decided to try to revert back to previous versions of the app to see if it was the problem and I can confirm that I just found your post right as I finished reverting back to the exact versions you posted and everything is now working just like before!
Glad to know I'm not the one going crazy about this! It's a shame especially that changing versions needs a reset of the watch.
I've tried getting in touch with support, but had no luck yet.
The "Samsung Accessory Service" app seems to have received an update but I manually chose to not update it yet just in case, can anyone confirm that this will resolve the connection problem there was from the last update?
It is only stated in the "What's New" section that they "Fixed minor bugs and enhanced connection with Galaxy Fit", and since we're talking about the Gear Fit 2 Pro I'm not sure if this applies at all?
I'll probably give it a try in a couple of weeks, have new phone coming (Fxtec Pro 1) so since I would need to reset the Gear Fit 2 to pair again anyway, might as well try the latest version.
I'll report back when I test it.
Also here. Phone (note 10+) on DND and watch is not. No vibrations, yes notifications (orange dot).
So I missed rather a lot of messages and some phonecalls %^$#@[email protected]#*
Now I use Beautiful Widgets' "timed silence" widget temporarily.
In that case my Note is only silent and not in DND, which is ok.

I can confirm that with my new phone I installed "Galaxy Wearable" 2.2.28.19120361 and "Geat Fit Plugin" 2.2.04.19120641N and I still had the notifications issue. I've rolled back to the versions I've linked to in the first post and I got them back.
Samsung... please wake up :/
Hi, i got the watch yesterday. I updated it and started to notice that all 3rd party face apps ( watchmaker, facer, etc) freezes while on AOD. Minutes just don't move until I awake the watch. Also the usual ways to awake don't work reliably... only the ugly-childish samsung provided faces work as they should.
I have searched and it seems I'm not the only one and it's an update "feature"... So it seems it's not a faulty watch.
It's there any workaround to this?
I have been long gone from smartwatches. Can we rollback?
Thanks
No Rollback yet....
As you need Firmware for this...
From Samsung side...
They are working on new Bugs ehm """Watch Faces"""...
Code:
R8.0XXU1FVB1
This could take again weekS or monthS...
Maybe meanwhile good idea to use good old methods to take Logs... with ADB:
adb logcat...
Or check *#9900#
3d Party Developer need to make new compatible Versions... for EVA8...
But maybe some ON OFF workaround possible...
BUT you need to search for it.
Good Luck.

I've noticed the same thing since the latest big update. I have to tap multiple times to get the AOD to change to the actual watchface. Using Watchmaker Premium myself. It's quite annoying. Hopefully we'll get some kind of fix soon.
Same problem here. For now, I'm avoiding AOD on Facer, etc.
I highly doubt AMOLED anti-burn-in is active when the screen is frozen like that. So, better safe than sorry I guess.

I really hope they fix this soon. It is destroying my enjoyment of this device.... the recent update ruined it. I never know what the time is now, and sometimes I have to press the screen or button and wait several SECONDS for it to wake up and respond. This morning I pressed it about 10 times in a futile attempt to "unfreeze" the AOD display.

Wearable app/Settings /Apps /Watchmaker..... enable "allow background activity"
Been using AOD for few days like this AID working ok like this.
See Screen shot
According to this report
(about 53 seconds into video, a new update /fix (for the AOD) has been released
I finished the EVB4 update.
When I go into those settings, I see the "allow background activity" setting, but it is off and greyed out for Watchmaker, so it cannot be turned on. It can be turned on for OTHER apps, though. I tried to force stop Watchmaker, made no difference. Not sure what to do...
UPDATE: Ug, after I force-stopped Watchmaker in the attempt to allow that setting, I lost all my WM faces on the watch AND on the phone. And I don't think I have a backup for the one I use daily and heavily customized (Pulsar Neo). So I rebooted both and then have the watch face back on the watch, but it is not showing in the phone app. Checked version of WatchMaker, it is 7.2.7 (I noticed in your screenshot yours is 7.2.8, but there are no updates for WatchMaker, I just checked on Play). Checked app settings, still unable to allow background activity.

I believe the problem with my lost watchfaces was due to my phone being upgraded to Android 12 just last week. But I am not sure. At least I was able to find the original face and modify it again, and it works.
In any case, I am still unable to find out why I can't set "allow background activity" on WatchMaker. I went though every app, and none of them allow the setting except for "Wear Wiki Reader" and "MyRadar." Further, I can't find anyone else with a similar problem, no matter how much I search. Has anyone else been able to change that setting? Or is it just me??

firstly ,im on the beta version of Watchmaker
Sorry about watchfaces you lost .
Here's a tip for securing watchfaces ......
(this is what i do .)
On my phone Watchmaker app /My Watches /select you watch face etc /select Export
You will on pop up notification location where you "backup " is stored .
On my phone i use Total Commander ,file manager ,(free version )
Total Commander - file manager - Apps on Google Play
Android version of the desktop file manager Total Commander (www.ghisler.com).
play.google.com
i will then, via Total Commander ,go to my internal storage /Android/data/watchfrenzy/ files /export .....and copy my exported watchfaces from Android data to a safe loacation ...eg laptop ,external hardrive .
If you delete /lose you watchface all you have to do is copy them back to Android/data watchfrenzy/files/export and import into app .
Further tip you can also do this with fonts ...copy .ttf fonts into the fonts folder .
I Google around for reasons "background activity greyed out "
There can be various reasons .
I see some of my watch apps is greyed out ,some is showing ....some greyed out ?
Not sure why ?
Personally, i think the buggy Samsung watch update has something to do with it ?
as not all my watch installed apps are showing on Watchmaker .
eg .Previously my sideloaded Google Assistant ,showed up in Watchmaker
app ,now it does not ...yet in the Samsung Stock watched /apps shortcut ,
it still shows !
See some results and reasons ...
My Google search link....you might get some idea ,as what your reason is ?
background activity greyed out - Google Search
www.google.com
See some screenshots that might give you better idea to explain my above post .....sorry the order is a bit mixed ,but i'm sure you can follow ?
other just asked again
Good luck
I have no problem exporting or importing from the WatchMaker app, the problem was that it had no faces in it. They were still on the watch, but not the phone. From what I can tell, there is no way to suck them back off the watch. But your tips will be handy for others! I only wish I had exported them before they were lost (only 1 matters to me, and I have re-created it).
How did you obtain the beta (and why did you)? It sounds interesting, although I doubt the version is the cause of my problem, since I have seen other users' screenshots with using the same version as I am but without the greyed out button. Are you using a Samsung phone with Android12?
One thing I haven't tried is removing and re-installing WatchMaker. I wonder if that would matter?
Firstly,
I currently have about, +- 30 different, beta programs /apps. on my phone.
Yes, i have a Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5g
So as I'm overall a Android Themer (at heart) wherever it's KLWP theming or Samsung Theme Park or Watchmaker etc
i will join /subscribe to beta versions.
I agree with you, that the beta or stable versions, is not the cause.!
I cannot advise you to uninstall and install Watchmaker................ but personally i would
have tried it.!
(I would have kept my favorite watchfaces safely in another folder to copy/import back. into Watchmaker.
When the latest Wear O S broke 3rd party, Watch theme apps
I was totally lost without, my favorite Watchmaker creation, working correctly in AOD mode.
Just to note....
I've noticed that some of the apps that i cannot toggle is a mixed between system apos and 3rd party apps.
And again.... some if those that i can toggle
is also a mix of system and 3rd party apps.
Good luck

I really hope they fix this soon. It is destroying my enjoyment of this device.... the recent update ruined it. I never know what the time is now, and sometimes I have to press the screen or button and wait several SECONDS for it to wake up and respond. This morning I pressed it about 10 times in a futile attempt to "unfreeze" the AOD display.

I now know what others were talking about when it comes to the AOD and display brightness problem with this last update. Another aspect of just how totally Samsung ruined AOD with the last update.
I was a passenger in a dark car. My AOD watch face was way too bright in ambient mode- and very distracting. I would try to wake it up, which could take pressing a button several times and waiting. Once it woke up, it immediately adjusted the ambient brightness correctly for the dark setting. But 30 seconds later, when it went to ambient mode, back to high brightness again. And it would stay that way. Just for giggles, I tried several other watch faces, including the stupid Samsung ones (that we can't uninstall). Every single one of them did the same thing.
Interestingly, I got so angry, I rebooted the watch, and then it started acting normally again, even with my WatchMaker face. How long would that last? I can't say. But it did at least for that night. (I don't often wear the watch at night).

Seems kinda random. I just rebooted now it because it was driving me crazy. First time I pressed the lower button, it took 9 seconds to respond. Second time 8 seconds. Then later, it was instant. Maddening. What is taking Samsung so long to react to this??
OK, it has been several days since the April R870XXU1FVC8 update. Ever since, I have no longer experienced the problem with the AOD ambient mode freezing (not updating time/display), nor the problem with AOD ambient display ignoring wakeup (press button, touch, etc has long delay before waking). So I might regret saying it, but I think it might actually be fixed in the update.
The one remaining AOD problem seems to be it gets confused with the auto-brightness. When awake, the brightness seems to always be correct. But sometimes it doesn't update brightness correctly when entering ambient mode or while in ambient mode. It requires waking the watch and then it immediately corrects the display brightness.
So, finally, my watch is a watch again.
No update for over 6 weeks for my sim-free LTE Watch 4. The AOD screen update issue continues. Have any other LTE owners had the update that fixes this?
New watch 4 classic owner here (on verizon). I'm still having issues with the display freezing even after allowing background activity for watchmaker. Sometimes it works, sometimes the faces freeze for 30 seconds or so before updating and starting to show the seconds hand.
Anyone else still having issues or have another solution?

LTE uses don't have the recent update yet.

Well that would explain it I'll rock it with AOD off for now and hope the LTE update drops soon.
