I have European version 1.56 , how can I install this?
Sent from my HTC One A9 using XDA-Developers mobile app

If you want to install this update you need to S-OFF your phone and change CID and MID using fastboot command from download mode:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot oem writemid 2PQ912000
Then you will be able to flash US firmware.

Anybody have a valid TRWP system image for 1.57.617.32?
I took one but it still failed the verity check.

Oh well, I flashed the .32 RUU and restored data from TWRP/FlashFire, flash this update, and I think I'm done.

Did you use FlashFire to only restore data? Just curious.

This OTA will not flash if you're superCID. You must use the US unlocked or developer CID specifically to flash this OTA (BS_001 or BS_002).
The RUU will flash if you are superCID, but 1.57.617.41 RUU hasn't been officially (or unofficially that I'm aware of) released yet.

I used FlashFire generated backup in TWRP to restore data.
Of course internal-storage was still wiped, but I manually back that up these days (with SyncMe app), and don't put anything there, if possible.

Will it really work? My phone will work properly? How to get S-OFF? Will S-On be back after I flash? Do I need to root?

It worked for me.
To get S-Off I used SunShine S-Off. You can disabled S-Off by running command `fastboot oem writesecureflag 3`. You need root to run SunShine.
After getting S-Off be careful not to mess HBOOT otherwise your phone will be hard-bricked and non-recovereable at home (you would need a programmer (device)).

Yes, you should. You will need to relock the bootloader and s-on to make OTA work as far as I remember.

Convert UHL to UL
Hi, I have an European Unlocked A9, stock firmware 1.56.401.70. Also, I am S-off, SuperCid, and my device has 2GB of RAM. Can I use US Unlocked RUU to convert my HTC? I want to use 1.57.617.52 software. Is it ok to convert? The US unlocked version has 3GB RAM... Thanks !

If you relock your bootloader, you should flash stock ROM (with stock kernel) and stock recovery. Otherwise the phone will be stuck at the HBOOT screen with a "Security Warning" message

Why are you trying to do this? You have lost your warranty by unlocking the bootloader. Re-locking will not make any difference.
If you are trying to return to stock ROM, unlock your bootloader and flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225776
Or if you really want to re-lock it find an RUU appropriate for your radio version and run it after re-locking

If you change your CID back to CWS_001, theoretically, you should not brick running the 2.20 RUU, I'm not sure what will happen if you were to upgrade to 3.18 at any point. Probably brick in that case.
Safest way to RUU is to S-OFF first.

There is no way to S-OFF without a ROM.
So your choices are
Unlock, flash recovery, flash rom, fastboot flash boot.img, S-OFF, RUU.
Or
Fastboot writecid CWS__001, RUU 2.20, Never upgrade for fear of bricking.

Do whichever one you want. Just remember without S-OFF, I'm pretty sure you will not be able to upgrade to 3.18+ without bricking.

2.20 RUU will run with SuperCID, bootloader locked and S-on. With the 3.18 RUU, you will brick under those conditions.

You can use any ruu while s-OFF, just simply plug phone to computer and run ruu. No need to relock bootloader.
For the supercid, it is recommended to change it back to original with fastboot command.
Fastboot oem write cid xxxxxxxx.
There has been a few bricks takin Jb ota while still supercid.

Its not mandatory to change your SuperCID back to stock just to install a RUU (with OTA RUU you get problems, but not with normal ones).

[Q] Returning to Stock :/ Is this the process

Help
I'm trying to return my old HTC One XL (Telstra) back to stock. It's current state is:
S-Off
CID = 11111111
TWRP
hboot: 2.15
I've found the latest full RUU from this thread (all the links to newer RUU are broken):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119610&page=5
3.17.841.2
File Timestamp: 04/12/12
Publically Seen: 24/12/12
Android: 4.1.1
Kernel: 3.4.10-g240d4d5
hboot: 2.14.0000
radio: 0.23a.32.09.29_10.128.32.34a
First, can I us this RUU even though I have a newer hboot (2.15) installed?
Second, do I need to change my CID back? (using fastboot oem writecid TELST001). Will changing the CID loose my S-Off?
Third, is this the process:
1) Flash the stock recovery:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (taken out of the RUU)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
2) Flash the stock boot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img (taken out of the RUU)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
3) Re-lock the boot loader
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
4) Load RUU
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot reboot
After all this, I assume I'll loose TWRP etc. but will have a stock phone, and the ability to load OTA updates from the carrier.
THANKS
That 3.17.841.2 file isn't an RUU, it's an OTA. It's a zip file, an RUU is always an exe program. There's only one Telstra RUU available and it's a much earlier version. You can't flash that file using fastboot, an OTA can only be applied via stock recovery, and it requires the correct previous OS to be already installed on the device. If you want to return the device to stock you just run the latest actual RUU (1.89 from memory), and follow this process:
1) Run RUU exe via Windows.
2) Revert to Telstra CID.
Code:
fastboot oem writecid TELST001
3) Lock bootloader.
Code:
fastboot oem lock
4) Go back to s-on.
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
5) Take OTA updates via Settings/About Phone/Software Updates until you reach the point you wavy to be at.

Won't running the exe RUU before changing the CID fail?
And I thought you could still get the RUU as a ZIP (although most are just smaller OTA updates). The ZIP is 700Mb.

Answer my own question:
http://androidruu.com/index.php?developer=Evita
Does this sound right:
RUU_Evita_UL_Telstra_WWE_1.81.841.1_R_Radio_0.17a.32.09.03_2_10.85.32.16L_release_259804_signed.exe
You'll find the RUU here:
http://androidruu.com/?developer=Evita
You don't need to do anything before running the RUU, just connect in fastboot mode and get it cracking.

To ruu you need to relock bootloader only if you are s-on, if you're s-off you don't need to worry about that.
Ruu also might not set it to official, because you would have a modified boot.img, though correct me if I'm wrong.
