Problem on display - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have a serious problem on my display,
I bought a new galaxy s6 2 weeks ago,
sometimes the display splits to 4 small pictures on each corner, and all the colors changes with lines all over the screen,
when it happened I did screenshot but it didn't save a picture with the problem,
I need to get a picture of the problem to get a new phone from the seller,
if you have a picture of this problem or how to find this problem in google, I'd like to get.
Thank you

I know what do you mean - it has already happened to me 2 times.
I have no idea why does it happen but I know that restart of the phone solves the problem.

Samsung Wave S8500 Screen Problem

I am having those yellow blotches reportedly on Iphone 4 on my 1 year old Samsung Wave S8500. One vertical line & one horizontal yellow line appears on my screen & it looks dull. It isn't affecting the touch response though but it looks pathetic. Anyone here knows how to solve this issue ? And why is this happening ?
Reply..... anyone ? Pls ?
No one is having this problem ?
Not sure why its happening but search the forum a little to see if anyone has had this problem. Make sure its not your ROM doing this. Also when you power on the device do you see these lines. Last but not least if your under warranty call it in and get a new one just remember to stock up your device.
I don't have warranty cause I flashed it & yes the lines appear when I start the device as well. It appears all the time. Do I take it to the service center? What are the possible problems for this?

[Completed] Screen of Xperia Z3 collapses

I bought an xperia z3 around a week ago. 2 days after the purchase I started to use it and it immediately had problems. I experienced the following:
1, the screen sometimes "collapses", meaning that the entire screen is shows small colourful dots, like purple, green, grey etc. They are very similar to the ones on TV when you dont find a channel and its all covered with black and white dots, but on the phone they have different colours.
2, The screen flashed when running certain applications.
I took it to the retailer to get it fixed. They said it was a software problem, so they uploaded the android software to it again . This later problem, the flashing screen seems to be fixed, but the earlier, "screen collapse" still occurs.
The retailer said if it's a hardware problem they will give me a totally new Z3. However, I don't know how to show them the "screen collapse" problem because it only occurs when it wants and I cant call it on my own. What's your suggestion?
I would be persistent if I were you in demanding a replacement device. Remember you're the customer!!!
That's about all I can tell you.
Good luck

S6 Screen Glitched/Broken?

Hey guys. My wife's s6 just did something really weird and I have no idea how to fix it. Her screen seems to be glitched or messed up. I don't know how to describe it. When ever I turn the phone on the screen turns on for 2 secs but all the words and images are all over the screen and then the scree shuts off but the applications are still usable. I tried doing a restart but didn't work and I then tried upgrading it but also didn't work. I tried to kinda mess with the brightness but still nothing. We just got this phone like 3 weeks ago and it was working fine up to 20 mins ago. She hasn't dropped it or done any water damage. Can anyone please help me to see what is going on with this phone.
I cant provide photos because i am new user. If anyone know how i can get around this without posting 10 times let me know so i can show you the screen of my wifes phone. I posted a similar help post on android central with pictures if you need to see the screen.
You can try a full reset 1st. If it still persists then its most likely a factory defect. Return your S6 back to Samsung for warranty replacement.

Hi, Please try the following,
1. Open the dialer and hit *#0*#
2. There will be different color options like red/green/blue. select each one by one and check whether the issue comes up somehow.
3. Then try using the phone in safe mode/factory reset.
If the issue still persists, then it is likely to be a hardware issue and please get it checked with samsung as soon as possible. :good:

Screen issue with low brightness S7 - horizontal lines interference?

Hi,
When I have low brightness the screen the screen shows black horizontal lines as if it was like an interference.. (it's very visible on 0:27 in white background)
Do not know if its a hardware or software problem but when I increase the brightness the lines disappear.

It's very annoying, anyone else experienced this?
I haven't had that issue with mine. Could be software or hardware. If you really wanna make sure just do a factory reset without restoring apps and if it comes back it's a hardware problem.
Hi, anyway to backup everything so I can test ?
I'm also having this exact problem and i only received the phone today.
Mine appears to happen more significantly straight after an unlock of the phone (from the lock screen) , it does not appear to happen as frequently when the brightness is turned up fully however.
I have factory reset the phone (without restoring ANYTHING from other accounts/backups) and this has not helped. What's interesting is this is happening during the phones initial installation/setup also.... so before I've even entered any account info , i lock the screen and then unlock and i'm presented with flickering horizontal lines which remain for about 10 seconds and then the screen eventually rights itself, so this proves that it is not a user data issue.
It's also worth noting that this does not happen every time i lock and unlock. I've tried removing expandable memory, with an without charge cable , with screen brightness set to auto and off auto , taking the sim out, auto rotation on and off and none have stopped the issue. I'm going to call my provider tomorrow to see if i can get a replacement , but if thought i'd add my 2 cents

Hi
yes occasionally it happens with lock screen... and yes with max brightness it seems not happen...
Everything on my phone works perfectly, I don't have any other issues common which are reported here but this it's so annoying :s
I think it's the auto britghtness service but I don't know how to disable it.
Can you test if in VSCO app when you change filter it happens too more strongly (like it happens to me)

I've always just disabled auto brightness using the check box labelled (auto) next to the brightness slider .....?
And I've downloaded that app and yes it's also happening when i change the filters.
I've just come off the phone with my provider (vodaphone) and ordered a replacement which is free, as i only got the phone today
I haven't found any similar threads for this same problem for the S7 specifically (at the time of writing this) , but there seems to be similar issues with some nexus devices too , which also use AMOLED screens so could just be that we're the unlucky ones and have faulty devices. If your's is in warranty i would get it replace

the problem is that I 'm not already within 14 days and I did not want to be several days ( or weeks ) without S7.
How do I know if they give me a new one or try to fix this one ?
Can you show me the links with this similar problem on nexus?
what piece of hardware is faulty ?
what is for sure this is not a software issue. is it a problem of the screen or the integrated graphic chip ?

Bad news matte, I had the same problem ... I had to put the phone under warranty and there was told they would have to change integrated graphic chip. Now the problem is gone for good

Hi there! Do they have to change the screen also or is the chipset something standalone? Just happened to me today...

Hello,
It seems we have the same problem, I will proceed with warranty.
After a month of purchasing, the brightness sensor is failing, and the screen horizontal white lines. (Image 1)
drive.google.com/ open?id= 0B2Kw-KtTnhcSSGFraExIVEZ1Qzg
Then adjust the sensor to the maximum or minimum lines become smaller. (Image 2)
And finally if I expose the sensor in the sun or in this case to bright light (Figure 3) lines on the screen disappear.

may i know what model is your affected unit? is it s7 edge color black?
same issue here on my girlfriend's s7 edge from EE. im going now to ask for a replacement. i dont bother i have insurance but i'm still curious if it is the oled related problem or other component. in my opinion as technician it's a hardware related issue. I only think about i've never meet any software /os to have that issue ever. how can a software can do that if there are lines overthere specified for drawing certain things, the stripes/lines cannot come out of nowhere
First it was the dead pixels issue on the screen on the s7 n now the screen flickering lines on s7 edge n s7 ... These are not software bugs these are serious hardware issue very disappointing samsung shame even their gorilla glass is also a lie easily scratchable screen
Finally found a complete solution here.
Works like a charm.

Yes, I have my phone 3 years and the screen has been getting more and more dim over the last few months. The bottom 7/8s of the screen is darker thsn the top 1/8.

Half display

has it happened to anyone to fix it? after warming up the screen is fine but when it cools down it still works. help.
Hello,
I have a similar problem, but mine is about three quarter black. I will try to describe the problem in a more detailed way. My good old Galaxy S7 served me well for a couple of years, but recently produced a weird behavior with the display. It started with some flickering and now and then some thin black horizontal lines. After a while the lower part of the display turned black, finally resulting in the lower three quart of the display remaining black.
After a clean swipe of the cache and a factory reset the display became normal again and remained so after a couple of hours reinstalling apps, passwords, etc. Even after a short while standby, the display returned to normal. However after a prolonged standby time of a couple of hours the display became three-quarter black again. A new factory reset resolved the screen trouble, but again after a prolonged standby the trouble reappeared.
To me this does not look as a hardware problem, but it might be a firmware glitch. Has anyone seen a similar problem with the S7 and could it be resolved with flashing the firmware? Any ideas where I can find a reliable firmware version and eventual suitable Android (now 8 installed) version for the S7? Preferable with a decent installation description. Most downloads I have found seem to offer a manual in Sanskrit and are hard to understand for other people than the guy that wrote it.
Appreciating your help.
Greeting,
Dave
