Screen Roation Not Working In Samsung Galaxy Note 4 - General Questions and Answers

I have uninstalled some system apps today. After that Screen Rotation of my Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910C) is not working. I have tried clearing dalvic cache by link2sd as I have got TeamWin custom recovery and clearing dalvic cache solely is not possible there. After doing so restarted my phone but didn't help. In the attachment I have added the screenshot of the apps uninstalled today. Can anyone help? I don't want to factory reset the phone. I have taken backup of those uninstalled apps. But restoring is not working too. What to do now?

In future, you should first deactivate system apps to see how react your system. direct uninstall isn't that clever..
my mate has the same problem and this helped:

[Q] Creative Ziio 7 problem

Hi guys, I have problem with this tablet. Before Froyo update, it was very slow and some features like Adobe Flash 10.1 wasn't working. After the update, at start everything worked fine, but after few weeks of usage it started to freeze, more and more often.
I tried several things like:
- uninstalling latest apps, didn't help
- resetting to factory defaults, didn't help
- once again updating firmware, did help, BUT
After reinstalling latest update, everything was fine in couple of weeks, but freezing starting again, with smaller and smaller time periods between freezing. Once again, I reinstalled latest update, but this time it didn't help
So guys, what to do? Wipe Dalvik cache? How to do that on unrooted device? Something else?
Thank you in advance!
You have to root to wipe Dalvik cache, but an alternative is just to contact Creative.
Creative support is infamous... I expected that root is needed for clearing Dalvik cache, but was wandering if there is another way?

Depends on the location of your dalvik-cache, it is usually not accessable without root.
You could use the app in my signature (SD Maid) or any other explorer tool and try to see if you can access your dalvik-cache folder without root. But i doubt it.
Thank you very much, I will try it and will leave back feedback.
Unfortunately, SD Maid is not much of a help without root access. I couldn't clear Dalvik cache within. Is there some way to track system events, and to find out exactly which task is responsible for freezing, or at least to have log with list of active tasks done periodically?

[Q] Whtsapp stopped working and now throwing unknown errors

Hi everyone,
I have been using my nexus 5 since 4-5 days now and everything was working fine till last night when whatsapp started giving me errors (unfortunately app has been closed). I uninstalled whatsapp and when I am trying to re install it, its now giving me error "unknown error code on application install -24"
I have tried installing via apk, playstore's website, cleared the cache and data of playstore app, rebooted phone but nothing works.
I am hesitant to root my nexus 5 as there is no official recovery available and people are having issues when rooting the device and I cannot afford to have an unstable phone. Hard reset is an option but I would like to avoid it if possible. I have read that if I delete the related whatsapp folder from data/data folder somehow then it will fix the issue. Is there any way I could access and delete that folder without being rooted or if someone has any other solution to my problem.
Any help is much appreciated

Same thing happened to me, Did you enable ART? Because that's what caused my errors (force closing). After switching back to Dalvik and trying to re-install, i was getting -24 error on the play store. I rebooted a few times and left it for a few hours. Tried again and it worked.
Whatsapp is i believe in-compatible with ART.

Okay, As for as i know, it did fix itself when i rebooted a few times and after a while it just worked.
Things i also tried that might have helped. Clear cache for the playstore which you tried. i would do this again after you switched back to Dalvik. and make sure whatsapp is uninstalled before switching to Dalvik. Once you switch back and have cleared cache from the playstore, try to re-install Whatsapp.
As for the backup, on your phone is a whatsapp folder that has a backup of your messages and photos etc. When you re-install whatsapp it'll pick that up and restore your stuff. There is no need to delete that folder.
I Hope that fixes it for you.

Right so far thats what i did, and thats exactly what happened to me. I just left it for a few hours and tried again it worked. Just give it a few hours and re-try / reboot and re-try.
It didnt work. I had to factory reset my phone eventually and wasted my evening doing all the restores, I wish Android had a seamless backup system something like that of Apple's. Helium/Titanium/mybackup, all of them have some kind of flaws

I am not rooted at the moment so TB wasnt really an option. Helium works fine only for apps and their data but I am looking for something that can restore my phone exactly how it was before the reset including home screens, settings etc without being rooted.

That what you are looking for would be a nandroid backup made in a custom recovery, that restores everything. But not possible without root.
Hi,
I have the same problem. Error -24 if I want to install Whatsapp from Google Play Store. Local installation after downloading the APK from Whatsapp gives also an error (app not installed).
Tried several times to delete the cache and setting of the Play Store app and the Google Framework. Followed by restarts of the phone. Until now I was NOT succesful.
As far as I read on other forums, the problem is, that in data/data/ already exists a Whatsapp-directory and therefore Whatsapp doesn't want to install. You could delete this directory, but only if you are rooted. I avoided this step until now, because it's a new phone with warranty and after rooting, all data ist wiped.
I also tried adb to delete this directory, but same effect. Because the phone is not rooted, I can't remove this directory by remote shell.
Is there no way to clean up such remains WITHOUT root?

Unable to fix this pesky app

Whenever I try to edit an image from within the gallery app it force closes. All the other tasks gallery is able to perform (rotate, crop, etc.), appear to be working fine. I have tried clearing the app cache and data, I have tried booting into recovery and wiping the cache / dalvik cache and I have tried restoring a backup I made earlier. Nothing has worked. Anyone out there got a fix for this?
Sent from my SM-T330NU using XDA, powered by appyet.com
Where is this pesky app from? Can you get a new copy from its official website or app store? You might try to uninstall the app and reinstall it with the latest edition.
Just for your reference. Good luck to you.

Hi, the only thing I could suggest is using a different GAPPS, below I have linked a website that has all the different types of GAPPS for many different versions of android.

Applications start crashing after Oreo update (S7)

Last night i upgraded from nougat to oreo and applications start to crash.
And in some games i can't even log in with facebook / twitter. Everytime time i hit the login with facebook/twitter button, the game crash.
Torrent application not showing any text / pic.
The battery is not draining fast, but faster than nougat's.
Some application don't make to their page. Some do, but few seconds later *crash*.
Octopus' (keymapping app) service is running but the app always crashes when i try to run it.
SmartThings, sometimes bluetooth keyboard and mouse stop working.
I tried factory reset on setting, clearing cache on recovery mode. Nothing works.
I appreciate any help!
Uninstall and reinstall the apps, or clear data and not just cache in app manager.
Personally I always do a clean wipe on new OS versions partially because of this reason, you bring up old data from the previous version and often causes issues.

I did factory reset through setting menu, should i try hard reset?
Ah I thought you meant you reset the app settings. But yes a factory wipe in recovery is going to be more thorough than one through settings.
Other wise you can do a full flash in Odin using the stock firmware files, that method doesn't trip knox / warranty etc
