What do you think?
Almost same software, upgraded hardware and 500 mah bigger battery, heavily optimized software compared to Lollipop and with root, it's even better.

I think Samsung are blocking certain keywords In Google's sesrch algorithms to maintain its stupid reputation, but that's just a theory...
Is yours rooted? And does it improve the device? As I've been rooting and custom ROMing smart phones for years and I'm noticing that it's basically a flow of endless updates, bugs and battery issues whenever I hack the phone, not to mention lack of security and not being able to use banking apps..

Hi huys!
Long time since i last was here!
I currently own an iphone 6 and since i am bored out of my mind with it i want to go back to the android side..
Main hripes with iphone 6..
-horrific battery life
-low wifi signals
-mediocore camera
I was considering gs6, but i wanted to ask how is battery life for you guys since i hear they dropped mah from gs5..will it be better or worse than my iphone 6?depending on that i might shoot for note 4, since note 5 wont be coming to europe, sadly.
The second question is, will i be able to keep my itunes library and keep buying from itunes somehow from within the gs6?(some app or so?)
Thank youuu!

as for your second question, you can transfer up to 100000 songs from ios to Android. so you should have no problem there. Your first question is harder to answer. As far as battery life goes, my s6 edge gets up to five days of battery life. however, most of what I have read online from other users is it's battery is no better and no worse than the galaxy s5. I would still recommend it over any other phone on the market.

Unless you use battery saving tricks and follow the battery saving guides, you'll not have a good battery life. But xda has everything for you to get good battery life!
Q2. I don't use iTunes. idk!
Granted, gs6 battery life is not great, would you say it is better than that of the iphone 6? Really the only reason i haven't already made the move..still considering galaxy note 4 over gs6 just for the battery!
Battery wise, iphone 6 or gs6? battle of the six's

Stock GS6? Nah, rather iP6.
Rooted GS6 with Greenify and amplify? Yep, now we're talking.

amplify requires xposed. xposed is incompatible with the variant I own
No i always go with stock..plus, to my understanding, tripping knox is permanent, so that is a big no-no
Well, then you will not be pleased with the stock overall performance of the GS6, if you switching from the iP6. At least the expereience for me was bad and I switched from the Oneplus One. Poor battery (somewhat OK on WiFi), not smooth UI and lags when a few apps open. However this was on the BOG 5.1.1 firmware. It felt like a completely new phone when I gave up on knox and flashed a custom ROM and kernel. And everybody said the same here on the forums.
Looks like i will be going for the note 4 then..i really wish we could get the note 5 in europe..
I wouldn't even consider Samsung for use as a stock device. TouchWiz is ridiculous. Samsung has all kinds of bloat apps for things Google incorporates into android naturally. Updates are so slow and stock battery experience is never great. That's not to say there aren't any good features but if you're coming from an iPhone, I would wait for the next gen of phones or get the one plus 2, or go with Sony for the beautiful cameras.
You greatly overestimate the iphones..they seem stable but its only because they do so very verry little.they are just as full of bugs and crashes as the next thing..itune syncs/restores/updates are a regular russian roulette.you dont do updates unless you are a daredevil-they usually break more than they fix and most of them rape battery life.i had no gripe at all with my last android (gs2) which was on full stock besides bad batt..and i had that for 2 years..as to your remark, sony phones are good but have washed out screens..i am almost set on galaxy note 4..
I am a current owner of the Note 5 on T-Mobile running a great TW ROM, but always wanted CM13 on it, but with the phone only coming with the Exynos, that wasn't happening.
So, I may think on trading in for the S7 Edge, due to it having the SD820, which is known to be much needed for AOSP ROM's, plus the 3,600mAh battery is a real big deal to me, bigger battery is absolutely a selling point to me.
So will the S7 Edge be getting CM13 ?
if have sd820 in some months maybe
Sure, let's ruin a good phone with cm13 where half the features, especially the edge, will either no longer work, or be buggy, and the entire ROM will be in beta for the life of the phone. Great idea bro

This.
CM is good when Samsung stops updating the phone, but you lose out on most of the features and especially the awesome camera software. With CM photos will look bland and low quality, the edge screen will be useless, and features like the always on display and gestures won't work.
CM usually sucks. Wait for when the devs release a ROM that is stock Samsung. That is to say, it's a stock ROM (not aosp stock, GS7 stock) but removes bloat. That way you don't lose camera and edge features, but a cleaner ROM.
Freeza, you're absolutely correct besides im.sure marshmallow will be beast with a couple tweaks
Sent from my SM-N920P using XDA Free mobile app
It comes down to theming for me. I'd give up TouchWiz and the mainly useless features in a heartbeat to get up and running on a nice black AOSP style (BlackedOUT!) theme. Sadly one never seems to show up in their store. I hate touchwiz with a passion but the galaxy hardware line is real nice and keeps me coming back. Going a year without CM on my S6 has me going crazy haha
So what you're saying is you're willing to pay $750 to butcher and theme a phone? Lol
Here in Brazil only exynos will come and egde will cost 1050 dollars very sad

That's an old and silly argument that is as basic as iPhone vs Android. It comes down to what the user wants to do with the device.
I could not care less about Edge functions and for me, Google camera has an unnoticeable difference to the stock app. I don't see CM as butchering. That is actually how I see TouchWiz, a butchered, laggy OS. Again, personal preference, which is why people come to XDA to begin with.

CM13 is almost (finally) ready for the S6 with it's exynos processor, so don't give up hopes on the S7 getting it as well. But dang that is a pricey phone down there.

Reasoning makes no sense but whatever. There's the nexus phones for aosp/cm13 lovers. But to buy an EDGE phone not "caring" about edge features makes absolutely no sense.

How? Some people like the look of the Edge better, and are willing to pay more for it. Some people also want a bigger phone with a bigger battery.
That's two big reasons to get the Edge over the regular S7, unlike last year where it was just the edge that was different.
Wait for alliance to release a Rom and your s7 edge will be amazing

Several reasons the S7 Edge interest me, and not one is the Edge screen;
#1 = INSANE Battery, finally a flagship phone with a huge battery
#2 = Waterproof, can take near my pool, and with me mountain biking on rainy muddy days
#3 = S7 has the top rated Display
#4 = 5.5" screen are the perfect size to IMO
#5 = Top rated camera
The Edge display I don't really care for, but I'll take it, due to the above reasons.

Aren't those phones on that crappy CDMA stuff ?
Does the Droid MAXX 2 have the SD820 ? A #1 rated display ? 4GB RAM ? Top rated camera ? A beautiful high end build quality ?
Hence why the first two are the only things I mentioned about the droid maxx/turbo
Every thread bags TW haven't Samsung done some hiring from google to sort TW out on the S7? I am told by S6 uses that TW is much better on that phone than my S5. No one has actually used an S7 yet, so how can they tell that TouchWiz is no good

Anyway TW seems to just flow now. If it wasn't for advertising I probably wouldn't even root
I heard snapdragon 820 got bad battery life. same battery life as galaxy S6 in real life review
what about Exynos 8890 battery life?
check link below
http://bgr.com/2016/03/08/galaxy-s7-battery-life-vs-iphone-6s/
Those results are BS and don't match real world results. Galaxy S7 edge gets the same battery life as the S6? No way. I owned an S6 and now own a Snapdragon 820 S7 edge and battery life is not even close. The S6 I would have to charge when I got home from work to make it through the evening. The S7 edge lasts me until bedtime and still has plenty of battery left.

Well hopefully they didn't give wrong information on purpose. I think it's more likely that their test is just flawed or they made a mistake in testing.

Keep your money mate! If you were coming form an older phone I'd say make the leap, but you should be set for at least another year.
It totally depends on your circumstances. If this and if that, only you know those answers ..

It really depends. There is more to the switch than just the processor. Antutu performance wise its about 25 ranks higher than the S7 Edge in overall performance. My roommate updated from the S7 Edge and likes it and I have both and prefer the S8+. If processor is the only factor for you then you can hold off for a while maybe window shop at your local store to see if you like it better.
bigger screen and the battery life are my two big favorites over the S7E. The fact the S8+ is also far less laggy than the S7E (which has to be a software problem since the Note 7 ran like a raped ape in comparison to the S7E and they shared the same processor/ram)
battery life is nearly double for me. Which is worth it alone.
All I know is my wife's s7edge is running like crap right now. Even cleared up some memory, moved all kinds of stuff over, reset phone and still slow and the battery life since nougat is horrendous. Weird, right when the new phone comes out.
I have tested the s8 and from when I had my s7edge it's definitely faster and smoother, but it's nowhere near the speed of my Mate 9. Should work for my wife, but not me.
Seems like battery reviews are decent, but so where our s7's when we 1st got them.

Looks like nobody has mentioned that if you LOVED the way Note 7 felt in your hands with symmetrical curves front and back then you will be right at home with the S8/S8+. It's every bit as sleek as the Note 7 was. Much speedier and actually more sleek due to not having any buttons on the front.... Only negative I've got is no s-pen. Will upgrade to Note 8 as soon as it's out . Once again, if this will be enticing enough on top of what everybody else has said, will be all up to you

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually utilize soc for linux packages and such so any performance boost is good. One reason I was hesitant is the 8890 still ticks well. Also yeah if the note 8 is coming this year I may get that one. I love my s7e but I miss the note. The S pen makes a good mouse too.
How's the s8 durabilty? I already shattered my s7 edge in december and the insurance gave me a brand new one. I already wasted 100 on two tempered glass because of case incompatibility. I would run no screen protector but I'm wary lol.
Also my s7e internal memory is running out since most of my apps can't be moved to sd card lol.
Idk it doesn't seem that big of an upgrade, that's why I asked.
Until the Note 8 comes out there is zero on the market to replace what the Note 7 performed. Our Note 7's where mini PC's and I agree the S-pen had developed over the years to become a mouse. I want a Note 8 and am looking forward to its eventual introduction. I think the Note 7 is a legend of a mobile and NOT for the negative reason but its positive capabilities. I have never missed a mobile with the exception of the Note 7.

Hi
Does anyone know where I could order a genuine galaxy s7edge battery for my galaxy s6 flat.
Heard its really improved battery life for people compared to the one that comes with the s6, so I'm interesting in trying to do this mod myself. ?
Any info would be great. Thanks

good choice....
the original battery is bigger than s6 ... So you will not be able to close the back cover...... & you should use Case.....
U can buy blustar battery for s7 edge ... it fits & will be fine
good luck ,,,
Would this be fine?
Planning on ordering battery today as it seems my orginal battery is slowly getting weaker.
Also managed to find this one aswell if it any better. ?
