Help Rooting and installing CM 13 Boost Mobile LG G Stylo - LG G Stylo Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am attempting to root, and install TWRP on my mom's Boost Mobile LG G Stylo (LG LS770) and hopefully have it installed with CyanogenMod 13. I could go for Resurrection Remix or another CyaongenMod based ROM but it NEEDS to be Android 6.0 or above. I am more of a Samsung person, so I am a little afraid to heck things up. Here's the catch, its on Android 6.0 now, and I think this may be an issue. If I need to roll back to an earlier version, I would be willing to do so.
Regards,
Jeremiah

Well man, first things first. There are very few ROMS for this phone. There is an unofficial CM 12 ROM, a ZUES ROM and a Katana ROM in the XDA threads but they are all for 5.1.1 Lollipop. Having CM 13 for our phone is a longshot man. I hope this answers your question.

We don't even have developers for ANY variant of the Stylo. So, that ends that discussion.
Also, I don't even know if you can even root the Boost version. This forum is filled up with people who bricked their Boost Stylos.

It's easy to root the Stylo, the and also easy to add Xposed framework to it, my problem is finding a custom kernel to over clock the CPU

It's not easy to root a boost stylo with marshmallow 6.0, it's impossible. You must have a tmobile or metropcs to root an android 6 because tmobile/metro made a deal with LG to allow unlocking bootloader , the pre-requeset to root on android 6+

Unlocking the bootloader is not possible, I agree, but rooting is, I have boost.

Rooting isn't difficult, it's the unlocking of bootloader that isn't possible.

I don't think you can do a CM, because you need a custom recovery, I think. Even though you have a boost rooted 5.1 ( I had a rooted boost 5.1 until I updated to 6.0), you cannot restore youre phone completely without a custom recovery. So, you gotta get a metropcs/tmobile because they made a deal with LG to unlock the bootloaders and with an unlockd bootloader, you can make a custom recovery, a rom or use CM.

I have been using flashfire on my boost stylo 5.1.If I can find a CM rom I will try to flash it.

Is it possible to downgrade from oficial kitkat At&t???

Hi Guys, I have read some topics about downgrading, but im not fully understanding if this is only for people who is already rooted or if this will work for a non rooted device. In my case i have an At&t Lg G2 not rooted with 4.4.2 kitkat and wanted to revert to 4.2 so i can root and then flash a rooted stock 4.4.2 kitkat. Is it possible to do that, even if i was never rooted? I do understand there's no root for kitkat as of now.
Thanks guys.
Well since we use the lg flash tool I don't think it should be an issue so go ahead the last time I went back to stock was when the kk rom with root and recovery came out so I'm sure you should be able to
Sent from my LG-D800 running kitkat using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes you can flash back to 4.2 with Flash Tool. If you root 4.2 and then take the AT&T update to kitkat you will keep root. This is what I did.
How about a D802? its on the official vodafone kitkat rom, with the upgraded bootloader. Loki does not work on kitkat. Is it still downgradeable to any version of jelly bean?

I did it myself earlier due to bluetooth battery drain on kitkat. Just go to the thread Return to Stock LG G2 and follow the instructions listed. You'll have to download the tot file (ROM), the flash tools and flash dll. Just follow those instructions to the letter and you'll be on 4.2.2 in no time.

Alright thanks. I just wanted to know if there were problems with the bootloader as I also have an at&t s4, which prevents the bootloader from being downgraded and bricks the device if its done.

Can I flash a 6.0 rom when I'm on 5.1.1

Let me start off by saying I have pretty much screwed my device, I have a telus galaxy s6 SM-G920W8. I can't flash stock firmware therefore can't update officially. I am using a custom rom called xtrestolite. Can I flash a rom that's 6.0 when it comes out? I'm on 5.1.1.

I do not see a reason why not.

There is no reason you should not be able to.
Yes you can install android 6 marshmallow. But make sure before install that android version, your device will able to access it with minimus requirements of android 6 as per hardware (RAM, Processor & storage space) or otherwise you'll be face many issues.

I am not addict to custom roms but if you need anything from an owner of a rooted H955 v15c just mention it.
By the way, are you planning custom rom for all models?
yea good luck with locked bootloader.
If you need anything with a rooted 15e (latest lollipop version) image, I can help. Also, how are you going to flash a ROM with the bootloader locked in marshmallow, since bootloader locked in mm = no root and no flashing ROMs? But still very good initiative, I'll look forward to see your progress on the ROM. Nice idea C:
We will give you all our support~
i will try to root mm first
Do it, do it now
i bricked send it to lg and i hope it will get fixed by warranty as far of lock boot loader the phone failed while flashing rom and the partitions where changed so when i was flashing stock Rom was stuck at 9 percent on lg up and i read on forums a lot have the same problem maybe i will not root again lg g flex 2 stock marshmallow to be safe in my other phones the rooting process was easy now i dot want to brick it again sorry guys il try to make mods from v10 for 5.1.1 nothing more for you guys me i will not use it im guess root break this phone partitions so sorry

... oh really ? and how exactly can we do that? It would be great if you could explain it, because everyone here is actually waiting for that to happen !
Flashfire may work at least backing up all partitions.
I believe it still needs a custom recovery to flash but I haven't gotten my device yet. Will be here in a few days.

That update was released a month ago. October 11.
its is a kdz & its real.... i successfully upgraded my ATT h900 from the same kdz..
everything went smooth & error free although my phone was rooted on 5.1. i used LG UP & used the "Upgrade" option..
nothing was deleted or overwrite either.. everything remained intact.. i say go for it..
sadly.. no change in interface at all..ditto same as 5.1.1... all behind the scene upgrades apart from Wifi calling

Can you confirm that your root is still intact going from 5.1.x to 6.0?
Update: Nevermind. It seems that your reply above was in reply to someone else's similar question for which you acknowledged losing root due to the upgrade.
yup.. root lost as expected as its an official LG upgrade.
One positive is better response of fingerprint reader & slightly better Boot timings

Thanks. I look forward to one day have a rooted Android 6.0. Otherwise, I'm still on Android 5.1.x because I want root for tethering (grandfathered unlimited data). Fingerprint reader is a hit or miss. Apple iPhone 6 and 6S variants work much better detecting my fingerprints while my LG V10 feels like a cheap ass version.
Agree with u on most part..as far as tethering is concerned it is working..i used a lil trick from my 5.1 days..u can google or if u want i can post..and since i upgraded..its still working..
And i was able to disable almost all of Att crap without root in 6.0
Also agree on finger print reader..i havent seen any andriod no matter how highend come anywhere close to apple
Anyway..just shared my experience for everyone concerned..upgrading or not..thats a personal choice

If your tethering is still working with AT&T with your LG V10 on Android 6.0, that's good news to me. What is the little trick that you did with the Android 5.1 days that you can still have unlimited tethering on Android 6.0?
I got the unlimited tethering by utilizing this hack here, which requires root, using built in native hot spot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-v10/general/enable-hotspot-att-unlimited-cutomers-t3338290/
As for disabling AT&T apps, I learned it from owning a LG G4 Verizon variant utilizing Debloater: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-v10/general/att-debloat-t3241166
The only reason I have root is for unlimited tethering. I do nothing else with root really.

That's what I have done to my V10. I even posted in that thread. So basically enable tethering when having root on Android 5.1.1 prior to updating to Android 6.0, and once upgraded to Android 6.0, the unlimited tethering would still be enabled but the hack itself is not inaccessible due to losing root for updating to Android 6.0. Am I understanding it correctly?
Edit: So I decided to go through with updating my V10 to Android 6.0 using the KDZ mentioned in this thread. Initial thoughts is that yes, finger print sensor works much faster. I also notice that the volume is a bit louder than usual. Perhaps improved responsiveness with the OS going through menus. So far, I like it. Also, the tethering works without complaining that such tethering needs to be registered. Therefore, it looks like updating to Android 6.0 doesn't modify the settings that enabled tethering undetected in Android 5.1.1. I don't mind losing root so long as I continue to have unlimited tethering.
Thanks for letting me know as I wouldn't have updated to Android 6.0 for fear of losing unlimited tethering on AT&T.

Use LG UP.
i want to update my Unlocked AT&T LG V10 to the latest update H90021W. i tried using lg bridge but it prompts me to update from the update center from the phone itself. when i try to update from the phone, it shows "Device is up to date".
my question is that if i update via flashing the firmware file, will my device be relocked by AT&T? i live outside USA and Etisalat as my carrier. i have already downloaded the .kdz file for v21w software. i worried whether the device will get relocked by AT&T. help me out guys.
also i am getting a pretty poor battery out of my V10. wondering whether the new update would give me a better battery life.
