Is it possible to downgrade from oficial kitkat At&t??? - AT&T LG G2

Hi Guys, I have read some topics about downgrading, but im not fully understanding if this is only for people who is already rooted or if this will work for a non rooted device. In my case i have an At&t Lg G2 not rooted with 4.4.2 kitkat and wanted to revert to 4.2 so i can root and then flash a rooted stock 4.4.2 kitkat. Is it possible to do that, even if i was never rooted? I do understand there's no root for kitkat as of now.
Thanks guys.

Well since we use the lg flash tool I don't think it should be an issue so go ahead the last time I went back to stock was when the kk rom with root and recovery came out so I'm sure you should be able to
Sent from my LG-D800 running kitkat using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Yes you can flash back to 4.2 with Flash Tool. If you root 4.2 and then take the AT&T update to kitkat you will keep root. This is what I did.

How about a D802? its on the official vodafone kitkat rom, with the upgraded bootloader. Loki does not work on kitkat. Is it still downgradeable to any version of jelly bean?

I did it myself earlier due to bluetooth battery drain on kitkat. Just go to the thread Return to Stock LG G2 and follow the instructions listed. You'll have to download the tot file (ROM), the flash tools and flash dll. Just follow those instructions to the letter and you'll be on 4.2.2 in no time.

Alright thanks. I just wanted to know if there were problems with the bootloader as I also have an at&t s4, which prevents the bootloader from being downgraded and bricks the device if its done.

[Q] Replacing stock firmware

Hi,
I bought my Moto G from an online store in Romania. The phone is great, but my firmware is AsiaRetail and I would like to change it to a European one, or even the Global version. Can that be done without rooting my phone? Can I somehow select which version to install with the upcoming update? If so I would be very grateful!
Thank you!
Just flash eu retail firmware with xda guide. You don't have to root etc.

Yes but it seems like I have to unlock the bootloader. I've had a lot of problems with my last phone and lost the warranty because I wanted a stock android experience. This time I'm trying to keep it simple and safe (as long as I can before I start a flashing spree again)

You don't.
---------- Post added at 08:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:25 PM ----------
And talking about the flashing spree, I did surrender to it. Totally not worth it though, at least for now. Stick with stock, don't mess around, it's as good as it gets.

And what would I have to do to install a EU firmware without root or unlocked bootloader? All the guides I've found need at least one. Any help would be highly appreciated!

Dear friend, the following guide is intended for you. It does not require root, nor an unlocked bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
You'll probably want to wait until official 4.4.3 images are available - that way, you won't need to update your system after flashing, making for a very clean installation.
Enjoy

[Q] How to Update Firmware After Root?

I am about to take the plunge and root the LG G3. It's been a couple weeks and I don't see any hardware faults so I would like to root and then debloat.
I can find some debloating threads here, but my main question was. . .how will I need to update after I have rooted the device
Say, I root today and then tomorrow AT&T releases an update for my device. Since I have rooted, I can't take the OTA update. But, is there a place that LG posts those updates? Can I download an update somewhere and and manually update with a specific windows application?
Or, will my updates only come in the form of ROMs after I have rooted?
Until devs can test if an update patches an existing exploit I would avoid carrier and manufacturer updates.

but when they happen, how do you update to them. i assume it's with lg pc suite?
is there an LG hosted website for the latest firmwares? or do I get them from third party hosting sites by people and hope there isn't any malware in them?
the update may not be able to be rooted so if root is important you don't want to update.
root update
if u want..what you could do is unroot .update and reroot ...another aulternative is using rootkeep ..i used it for g2 and it worked perfectly

What you would do is wait for a dev to post the stock rooted version of the OTA and flash via recovery.

I'd actually stay away from that method if at all possible. If you try that method and it doesn't work you're boned and could possibly soft brick the device.
Not really

Hence the word possibly. There's a chance of it and I was just informing the OP. He had a concerns about it. If you pick any q & a thread for any device on here you're almost guaranteed to find someone that attempted to OTA and had issues with some soft bricks. Its good you haven't had problems though.

[Q] Moto G 2014

Sir im using Moto g 2nd gen xt1068 I have rooted my device & unlocked bootloader. Now I like to Unroot my device and lock the bootloader & return to stock official .I need my mobile back like i got from flipkart With receiving all OTA with official motorola rom ..please help me sir soon.
Sir you have unlocked the bootloader. Once the bootloader is unlocked no support from OEM is given. Since you have unlocked the bootloader and I think you want to run the latest version of android, I recommend you to try Cyanogen Mod. You can download it for your device just google it. It is far better than the stock ROM plus you can installl the latest android version ROM.

[Completed] Update rooted android [HEEEELP!]

Hi there, how you doing friends? I hope fine.
Well I'm new in this so I'll try not sounds like I'm dumb. Well, last week I rooted my device an Sony Xperia Z2, I was using android 5.1.1 the last version I could update via OTA, well to make the "root" I had to downgrade to kit kat 4.4.2 or something like that, but the sameway my device was rooted I keep receiving updates via OTA, and now I'm currently using Lollipop 5.0.2 and it's still rooted and I loved, my doubt is: The update via OTA appeared again to version 5.1.1 the version I had before I did all that process, if I update from 5.0.2 rooted (my actually version) to 5.1.1 my phone will be "unrooted"?
Thanks and sorry my bad English.
Ash1998 said:
According to me , it shouldnt loss root access but im not 100% sure to be frank....
And in case u take the risk and it does loss root access i think so u can use kingroot to root ur phone back again.

I'm using an Stock Rom, but If I update it and lose my root access, I'll have to downgrade to Kit-Kat again, remake the root and then upgrade to 5.0.2 again, cause i can't find a rom 5.0.2 for my Device, not even here on XDA, i only found kit-kat :/
So, I rather wait till is possible to make root on 5.1.1. but thanks anyway.
Hi!
Here's a thread that should help in your device section,

You can join the discussion there as well.

question - best way to upgrade to latest firmware from 4.4 d85010d (rooted)

folks
i have my g3 for more than a year and it's on 10d 4.4 rooted with towelroot. i want to know what is the best way to update to the latest D85021r. my main goal is to retain root.
i was thinking using lg tool to reflash stock firmware then force OTA then root using one click from lg3 general section but if there is a quicker more effective way, please let me know.
thanks

You can only OTA with the D850 if you have an active AT&T sim in it. Otherwise there's no other way, besides just flashing a custom stock rom.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes i have active att sim
some follow up questions, hoping folks here can chime in with their experience/knowledge
1- is there any 5.0.1 stock ATT firmware that i can download and flash using LG tool utility?
2- if i reflash with 4.2.2 stock ATT firmware using the LG tool utility then OTA to the latest FW and rooted; am i stuck with 5.0.1?
3- can i fully unroot the phone afterward? If yes how? By reflashing 4.2.2 or some other method?
4- should i forget about flashing back to stock 4.2.2 and install TWRP then flash 5.0.1 ROM? What would be the benefits of doing this over flashing back to 4.2.2, OTA to 5.0.2 then root?
Thanks
I have a net 10 att sim in mine and it accepts att update ota but i prefer to flash through twrp

so are you on stock 5.0.1 rooted or some other ROM?
Are you also saying that every now and then you're reflashing 4.2.2 FW from 5.0.1 or whatever ROM that you're on?
thanks
I am on fulmics 2.6 its a stock based rom yes i go from 5.01 t0 4.2.2 or wichever version it is straight from flash tool then after downgrade att software starts downloading new update almost imediatly i was on the stock kk rom for d850 till about 6 months ago then cloudy 2.5 now fulmicss and u can downgrade to kk any time u like
Hi guys, i wanted to have my phone on lastest Lp stock rom. so i went got a att go phone sim. up on puting att sim my phone got ota update of 85021d and updated smoothly. about 1 hour later 85021q ota updated was pushed to my phone, again installed smoothly. Now I'm waiting for the 85021r update but it's not coming through.. it's been about 13 hours since 85021q ota update . Is there anyway I can force push 85021r ota update to my phone??....Nevermind found the way.
For AT&T, the only official way to upgrade the ROM is to use LG tool to flash unrooted KK ROM, then OTA. Or you can just flash a custom L ROM based on stock.
