I didn't think they used KDZ files for AT&T phones... its just TOTs I thought.

That update was released a month ago. October 11.
its is a kdz & its real.... i successfully upgraded my ATT h900 from the same kdz..
everything went smooth & error free although my phone was rooted on 5.1. i used LG UP & used the "Upgrade" option..
nothing was deleted or overwrite either.. everything remained intact.. i say go for it..
sadly.. no change in interface at all..ditto same as 5.1.1... all behind the scene upgrades apart from Wifi calling

Can you confirm that your root is still intact going from 5.1.x to 6.0?
Update: Nevermind. It seems that your reply above was in reply to someone else's similar question for which you acknowledged losing root due to the upgrade.
yup.. root lost as expected as its an official LG upgrade.
One positive is better response of fingerprint reader & slightly better Boot timings

Thanks. I look forward to one day have a rooted Android 6.0. Otherwise, I'm still on Android 5.1.x because I want root for tethering (grandfathered unlimited data). Fingerprint reader is a hit or miss. Apple iPhone 6 and 6S variants work much better detecting my fingerprints while my LG V10 feels like a cheap ass version.
Agree with u on most part..as far as tethering is concerned it is working..i used a lil trick from my 5.1 days..u can google or if u want i can post..and since i upgraded..its still working..
And i was able to disable almost all of Att crap without root in 6.0
Also agree on finger print reader..i havent seen any andriod no matter how highend come anywhere close to apple
Anyway..just shared my experience for everyone concerned..upgrading or not..thats a personal choice

If your tethering is still working with AT&T with your LG V10 on Android 6.0, that's good news to me. What is the little trick that you did with the Android 5.1 days that you can still have unlimited tethering on Android 6.0?
I got the unlimited tethering by utilizing this hack here, which requires root, using built in native hot spot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-v10/general/enable-hotspot-att-unlimited-cutomers-t3338290/
As for disabling AT&T apps, I learned it from owning a LG G4 Verizon variant utilizing Debloater: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-v10/general/att-debloat-t3241166
The only reason I have root is for unlimited tethering. I do nothing else with root really.

That's what I have done to my V10. I even posted in that thread. So basically enable tethering when having root on Android 5.1.1 prior to updating to Android 6.0, and once upgraded to Android 6.0, the unlimited tethering would still be enabled but the hack itself is not inaccessible due to losing root for updating to Android 6.0. Am I understanding it correctly?
Edit: So I decided to go through with updating my V10 to Android 6.0 using the KDZ mentioned in this thread. Initial thoughts is that yes, finger print sensor works much faster. I also notice that the volume is a bit louder than usual. Perhaps improved responsiveness with the OS going through menus. So far, I like it. Also, the tethering works without complaining that such tethering needs to be registered. Therefore, it looks like updating to Android 6.0 doesn't modify the settings that enabled tethering undetected in Android 5.1.1. I don't mind losing root so long as I continue to have unlimited tethering.
Thanks for letting me know as I wouldn't have updated to Android 6.0 for fear of losing unlimited tethering on AT&T.

Use LG UP.
i want to update my Unlocked AT&T LG V10 to the latest update H90021W. i tried using lg bridge but it prompts me to update from the update center from the phone itself. when i try to update from the phone, it shows "Device is up to date".
my question is that if i update via flashing the firmware file, will my device be relocked by AT&T? i live outside USA and Etisalat as my carrier. i have already downloaded the .kdz file for v21w software. i worried whether the device will get relocked by AT&T. help me out guys.
also i am getting a pretty poor battery out of my V10. wondering whether the new update would give me a better battery life.

is it possible for someone to catch it and make it available for a manual update like the previous 20c - 20y update. Most people use other sim cards on the device.

Yep, I just saw it today on the AT&T website and was about to come here and post the Lollipop news, but you beat me. Here's a link:

It would be super great if someone could extract the kernel from this official AT&T Lollipop. That way, T-Mobile users like me can flash the official T-Mobile Lollipop, then flash the AT&T Lollipop kernel, and lastly reboot. Hopefully, that will result in a D800 running official Lollipop with WiFi calling!

Question. Both my wife and I have LG G2s. Never rooted. I got the update to lollipop notification and updated. She didn't It doesn't even show up when she checks for updates. What gives?
Hello all,
Ive searched through the forums and it seems that there is only support for the gpad 7.0 or 8.3. I have successfully rooted the gpad but an OTA update attempted to come through and canceked because of root. I deleted some of the att bloatware so i would like to flash the stock rom if possible so i can update it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Has the Gpad f been lost and forgotten? Im surprised i havent received any input/suggestions.
lost
it probably has I have still yet to see a stock rom for this device, curse you AT&T
I finally received the 6.0 Marshmallow update today for my At&t GPad F 8 - v495.. Runs so smooth now, It 100% better when scrolling in the browser..
On another note my T-mobile s7 edge has had a update available for about 3 weeks now but I haven't takin it yet because It's already running on 6.0.2, I'm waiting on root an afraid it could get in the way of the work that's already been done to achieve root so I'm holding off for now..

I am in same situation. Rooted and deleted bloatware. Can unroot but MM won't install. I think it may be all the bloatware, etc that I erased. Hard to find stock firmware. Any help is appreciated. I rooted with Kingroot.

I'll be receiving my AT&T LG G PAD F 8.0 (V495) (5.0 Lollipop) in the next couple of days...

Best I can tell, there is no way to un-trip the root flag.
The correct way to do it would be to flash the stock firmware and start all over, but no-one can find the stock firmware. The LG PC Suite that works for a lot of the LG devices does not work as of yet on the v495. LG says the most up to date firmware is the v49510c. Marshmellow is v49520g I think.
Please someone correct me if I am wrong! I lost connectivity to my LG G3 through Qpair when I updated that to MM. I am strongly considering sending the pad to LG and have them reflash it!
Has anyone figured out how to root LG G Pad 8 v495 (6.0.0 marshmallow)?

Really wish I didn't update to marshmallow, especially since it seems there's no way to flash the old version back onto it now. Two things are making me think about returning it:
caveat: I am utilizing this unlocked to use on Tmobile
1) LG disables the adaptable storage feature in marshmallow so you can't combine your sd card and internal as one "storage". You can't even move apps to sd card!!
2) For some reason, likely a bug in the firmware/software, I can't set the "mmsc" to allow my device to connect to Tmobile networks!
---------- Post added at 10:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ----------
I do agree, Marshmallow is making this tablet quite smooth for the underpowered device it is, I'm only using it for streaming/video playing anyway as I got it on amazon for $80 unlocked.

LG VS495 5.0.2 Stock Firmware
This my first post and I know I'm asking a lot(and most likely impossible, but if someone has that DLL file to go with george241312's .tot file, I would so grateful!
For all those having problems with not being able to update to Marshmallow, I too was rooted when I was on 5.0.2 Lollipop an had the same problem as everyone else but I was trying to get the first small update that they pushed out an the only way I got it taken care of was to basically brick it until it wouldn't go pass the LG Boot screen then called LG and told them that my Device wouldn't Boot a past the LG Logo, Witch they walking me through a factor reset and ask me to turn it off for a hour then try it and if not call them back.. Well, needless to say that turning it off for a hour doesn't help.lol.. Anyways, They ask me to send it back to them because they put a one year warranty on all their Devices.. It was gone for 5 days and they sent the same device back to me with the small update already on it.. I will say don't brick it unless you can get a bill of sale from At&t because they do ask you send it in with the device... I did manage to get Xposed Framework install before I bricked it but it was buggy has hell, mainly because it was made for the LG Stylo.... Wish there was another way to fix this problem but AT&T hasn't released any firmware for any device since 4.3 Note 3 if I'm not mistaken.. Note: that I'm not telling you all to go and brick you device, I'm merely explaining how I got mine fixed. ..Good luck everyone..
Is this LG GPAD 8.0 F, able to root under Marshmallow?
I am thinking of ditching my Samsung Tab 7.0 A6 (2016) (model T285) due to the rooting issue (bootloader locked, no root possible, no 3rd party rom support).
I wish to get a LG G PAD 8.0 due to the knock code thingy and I already owned a LG G3 phone.
Is there a CyanogenMod firmware for this LG G PAD 8.0 F (Model V495)?

Unfortunately, no it doesn't. Virgin Canada is not associated with Virgin Mobile USA in any way. Virgin Canada is a completely different company and actually uses gsm phones, not the cdma phones used on VM USA. For what it's worth, VM USA is not known for rolling out updates, timely or otherwise.
It seems the only way to update the software to Marshmallow is to buy an unlocked version of the device (as I have seen 6.0 on the unlocked device at a Best Buy demo) , or unlock the Virgin Mobile one you already have. Otherwise, I think Virgin is never going to release an OTA for the update.

I thought the Virgin Mobile version was not eligible for bootloader unlocking on Moto's site? There is no other known way to bootloader unlock the device. And an unlocked version (ie. full retail version) would not be CDMA since Moto did not sell those directly or through a 3rd party like Amazon, only carriers, so it wouldn't work on VM anyway. Not to call you a liar but I don't think you were looking at a Virgin Mobile device...

No you're right - What I meant to say is that the version of the phone I saw with 6.0 was an unlocked one - not one from VM. I do not think (as hopeful as I am, still) that VM is ever going to release an update to 6.0 - They usually just release phones with the OS it comes with and that's all you get.
So is there anyway to get Marshmallow or not?9
Soak test underway begun end of April so hopefully in next few weeks

I'm on virgin mobile, with my moto g3.
I got my boot loader unlocked and TWRP along with xposed. All that works great. But everytime I go and try a custom rom I have to revert to the TWRP backup. And that works fantastic. Just takes it time.
I'd really like a mm rom for this guy. This stock rom sucks the big one.

Edit: Nevermind, reading some of the other threads it looks like it not MM but some sort of security update.

Oh, I stopped working on this phone a little while ago, I do not care enough about this phone to continue working on it. I am sorry. But if anyone finds anything viable, I would be more than happy to help
Hey all! Good news! A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!
