Ok so I got a lg v10 h900 it has already been updated to mm and I'm wondering if there's any way to go bk to lollipop
I am guessing you are trying to go back for root right? Well, you cannot go back. It will not work, and you will brick your device in the process. Don't worry, me and LGMono are working on getting root for MM right now, we are VERY close if this TOT is authentic...
Any root for the h900 yet

Zvnexus... I humbly and respectfully ask if you've made progress since your post in June? I haven't seen any major announcement, so probably not. But maybe, just maybe, you've made some progress to share???
I ask as an ATT security update is being announced on my phone.

Oh, I stopped working on this phone a little while ago, I do not care enough about this phone to continue working on it. I am sorry. But if anyone finds anything viable, I would be more than happy to help
Hey all! Good news! A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!

So as some of you may know the S4 had it's exploit fixed and since then we haven't been able to get away from Touchwiz based roms.
Before I go get the G3 I just wanted to be 100% clear that even the latest firmware hasn't fixed Bump, and I will be able to do other AOSP roms. From my quick research it seems like it's fine, but I only have 20 minutes left to get it friday instead of monday, so I figured I would just ask to be safe.

AT&T released firmware Build number: KVT49L.D85010f to patch root exploit. Read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/general/d850-software-update-t2937550
When Android Lollipop rolls out to G3 in the near future, rooting will be harder to accomplish. Same for other brands.

But that is recent enough that a phone bought today will not come with it out of the box, so I'm not worried about that.
And in theory I can just flash a bumped lollipop build later anyway right?
I just want to make sure it's not in the same current state as the S4 where you have to have touchwiz and match roms to bootloader version and what not.
I know there isn't too many roms yet with bump being fairly new, but as long as I stay on the current build I should be fine going forward no?
And I guess on that note, the stock rom isn't nearly as bad touchwiz is it?

Cool, I went for it, thanks for the quick clarifications. I can read all about everything now while I impatiently wait for UPS friday.
with LG phones you can always downgrade the software to a version where you can root.
I am sure there will be a way to get official lollipop while keeping custom recovery and root.
Once again, LG locked the door but forgot to close it before locking like what they did on the G2. So we were still able to upgrade while keeping custom recovery and root by mixing and matching partitions from upgrade and previous versions.
Basically I decided it was time to root about 2 days after I took the update to OF1 and was very frustrated to realize that I had basically shot myself in the foot. With the new update being available now, I'm left debating what the best course of action is. Should I take the new update with whatever features / additional security that it implements in the hope that there is an exploit in it, or should I stick with the current locked down version in the hopes that an exploit will be found.
Advice would be appreciated from someone with more understanding than me...

I would think if any dev is going to work on root for the VZW S6, it would be for OG5. OF1 is a relatively minor 5.0.2 update, whereas OG5 is 5.1.1.

I guess that makes sense.. didn't realize this was a big update and figured it was another security holes patch
Will the Stylo 1 get Nougat 7.0 or possibly 7.1? if so, when? and if it does, will it overhaul the ugly looking UI and make it look as good as the Stylo 2/ LG G5? Thanks
Which model/carrier do you have?
I doubt it but the T-Mobile/MetroPCS version is more likely to get it than the other versions (better specs), IF (and that is a BIG IF) we do get it.
Again, I highly doubt it because it had its one update. I hope they surprise me though.

I am currently running the Verizon Nougat Beta from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3502902. I am really enjoying it, but it is VERY bloated (curse you Verizon). I am using a package disabler, but I would like to know if there's a way to root it. I can't live without deabloating (for real) and MODS. :silly: Help would be appreciated.
I'm looking for this as well (I'm on the official T-Mobile beta ROM) but I don't think anyone is jumping on this due to the fact not many people have the beta, let alone the device specific ROM. Most likely once the official update rolls out so will the root method and hopefully, just maybe, even a bootloader unlock possibility.
If Dev's root the beta the. The official release will be rooted too. Since it's the same kernel version.

If devs get the beta rooted then release the root method before official nougat is released Sammy may fix the exploit. If devs get root on beta, they should keep it on the dl until official is dropped.

There weren't enough of us that asked Santa for unlocked boot loader on the S7s......maybe for my birthday ?
Hello I have an LG V10 H900 (AT&T) and I want to downgrade my device to Lollipop (5.0) is there anyway possible?
I never backed up device when I was on Android 5.0. I have LGUP and ADB Fastboot, but I don't have the kdz or tot and dll file for android 5.0 for the LG V10 H900 (AT&T Version). Could someone please help me downgrade my Android smart phone to 5.0? I'd much appreciate.
Carl
What you're asking for cannot be done since it will brick your phone. Completely. Once any of us upgraded to MM, we were screwed. So, at this point, we're stuck on MM, with no development because of the locked bootloader, and it is very unlikely that att will upgrade us to Nougat.
Stick with very stock MM or go phone shopping in December.

I have the same proble, what did you do?
Does the rootedH900TOT or rootedsystemh900.tot not work if you're already on marshmallow? Both of the files are on xda. Also if I try to flash an earlier version of marshmallow will it brick the phone? Or does brick only happen if you try to flash a major OS? like 6.0 -> 5.1? Thanks
