Hello, I'm a beginner on this forum and I want to know if it's possible to reduce screen brightness on the boot screen ? (after the Sony Logo)
Also, is it possible to reduce the brightness below the minimum? (My poor eyes at night)
Thanks
At boot don't think so but at night yes. do you have root and xposed? if not use Sony sleep partner
Yes I have root and Xposed, I use darker from play store but this app don't work properly

There's lux dashboard, doesn't require root and works fine on z5. I think you need the paid version though to enable really low brightness

you can try using the kernel at zach's kernel playground, it decreases the screen brightness during boot latest version is here(scroll down slightly) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...achs-kernel-playground-z5-wip-t3340725/page12

So I was looking into a way to change the dpi of my n9000. I loved PacMan rom for mt Xperia Z. I used to use a tablet UI with 200 dpi and I liked it. When I tried build.prop editors. Nothint changed.
So I did the following. Its very simple. But it did the job.
Download Xposed Installer
Install the framework.
Go to modules.
Download App Settings.
Activate it from Xposed.
Then open App Settings. Grant Root permissions.
Search for Android Ui
Change the dpi to what ever suits you. Am using 340. Works like a charm for me.
I took the extra efforts of chaning the dpi for settings. Browser. Whatsapp. BBM. And a few more apps according to my use. It worked.
WARNING : Do Not change the Android System dpi. It makes the keyboard horribly large.
After you change the dpi to something smaller than stock. There will be a little space between the status bar and the app.
Touchwiz does not look well in the less dpi. I recommend some other launcher which supports custom rows and columns. I use Nova Prime.

What did you use to edit the build prop, I've been told using the that method ever since a Knox safe root was available.

Tried Both. A build prop editor from play store by jimmy.
And also tried manually using es file explorer. None worked.
Any help ?

How much dpi are you using ?
Im very interested in rooting and then changing dpi but when i tried changing build prop with my old S3 it went into boot loop and i had to do an emergency recovery.
Anyways could someone upload som screenshots of lesser dpi settings on note 3, would be nice to see if its worth the hazzle.

I have a problem with setting the dpi of the samsung phone app with this app, everything else works fine. I set the dpi first by editing the build prop but the dialer did not like it so i tried to set it back to original dpi but it wont respond to any changes, only option is to revert the build prop.
Use solid explorer or root explorers and change the LCD density in build prop. I am using 350 at the moment and it's been good... I then use the xposed module app settings to change the Samsung apps like phone and calculator back to 480 so they don't look ridiculous all bunched up in the corner of the screen.. worked a treat on every rom I use.. do it on kitkat roms on my nexus 4 and s4 with no dramas as well until a PA type rom comes out

tablet mode has been removed from base android since 4.2 or 4.3 (i cant recall which one right now).
when you see it in a rom it is the re-addition in xml layout files to enable the 'tablet' mode again
^^^ read this in another thread
i wouldn't mind giving tablet mode a go again myself on such a large device when we see some AOSP love that will enable it again:good:
The ones in the market are unreliable. Would love to know how to do this on a stock odexed rom.
I paypal handsomely for any dev work on this. Ive seen the mod on a deodexed N5 rom but would like to stay stock.
I have zero problems. just miss this ability. PM me for pricing for your hard work.
tutorials accepted too!!!
You should root. Takes 5 minutes max. Then install xposed and gravitybox. This info is free

Well in an rooted/unlocked. but i use ART. Which in unfortunately xposed doesn't support.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I really don't think you can do this reliably without being rooted and using Xposed. You'll need to weigh up whether you value the minor speed increase you get opening apps with ART up against the features Xposed will give you. Honestly, I think it's a no-brainer, as for example, GravityBox does exactly what you want for free.
Where's the deodexed mod? Maybe I can use that to help you.

How much is handsomely??? Jokes aside, this should work if you're using ART since it doesn't use the odex files anyways and it includes the advanced reboot options also. Just flash the zip in recovery

Looks like the latest update to google play music 5.4 N broke your mod you coded for me. was wondering if you could update it for me. I'll gladly pay again for your services. Looks like they added a "play next" to the player and it doesnt recognize the volume hold to change now.
4.4.2 stock ART
You also included the reboot menu which was also very helpful.

I flashed the zip, but it doesn't do anything if i hold down either volume button. Neither have the extended power menu what did i do wrong?

I believe it's configured for ART. Enable that and see if it works. The latest Google play music update seems to have broken the hold volume when screen off to change track feature though.

Hi,
I just got my band new Xperia M2 and now want to play with some build.prop settings, as I already did with my other phones...
I just rooted it, but before I start I want to ask if anyone can share some experience, do's and dont's...
At first I want to decrease the LCD density to 200.
And are there any other optimisations to you can recommend?

Most likely you haven't changed system from RO to RW...
Me myself doesn't change lots of things in build.prop... Why change pixel density though?
Well I wrote into the file and saved it successfully... using a simple editor and the build.prop editor... both usually can set the file to rw or show an error if it fails...
Usually that worked fine... (on my Samsung i9000, Sony Xperia P, Asus transformer,...)
But now i had to set the attributes manually... strange...
Now it works fine...

Download the app from here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sony-m...een-streaming-2-0-0-2-9-android-apk-download/
And move it to system > priv-app > ScreenRecording and set Permissions to RW/R/R .
Move the original screen recorder app from that folder to another folder reboot and done.
You need root for this.

The program runs , I was able to log into my account to twitch, but when you push the red circle - the application fails !
This is consistent with my expectations - and if app I would be very surprised ! )
