The ones in the market are unreliable. Would love to know how to do this on a stock odexed rom.
I paypal handsomely for any dev work on this. Ive seen the mod on a deodexed N5 rom but would like to stay stock.
I have zero problems. just miss this ability. PM me for pricing for your hard work.

You should root. Takes 5 minutes max. Then install xposed and gravitybox. This info is free

Well in an rooted/unlocked. but i use ART. Which in unfortunately xposed doesn't support.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I really don't think you can do this reliably without being rooted and using Xposed. You'll need to weigh up whether you value the minor speed increase you get opening apps with ART up against the features Xposed will give you. Honestly, I think it's a no-brainer, as for example, GravityBox does exactly what you want for free.
Where's the deodexed mod? Maybe I can use that to help you.

How much is handsomely??? Jokes aside, this should work if you're using ART since it doesn't use the odex files anyways and it includes the advanced reboot options also. Just flash the zip in recovery

Looks like the latest update to google play music 5.4 N broke your mod you coded for me. was wondering if you could update it for me. I'll gladly pay again for your services. Looks like they added a "play next" to the player and it doesnt recognize the volume hold to change now.
4.4.2 stock ART
You also included the reboot menu which was also very helpful.

I believe it's configured for ART. Enable that and see if it works. The latest Google play music update seems to have broken the hold volume when screen off to change track feature though.

No root needed. You're just downloading two apks. It's very simple. You get the upgraded search and the new Google Experience Launcher which is fun to play with. As indicated above you do lose the nice transparent status bar.

i'm on mj5. just used a root explorer, changed permissions and pushed to system/framework folder and rebooted. I'm not sure if this caused issues with some of my xposed modules so i'm gonna start fresh and try to troubleshoot. I'll let you know if i find out anything (namely the wanam's xposed module's advance reboot menu when pushing recovery causes massive force closes!!)
Hi.
My N5, 10 days old, is rooted and with bootloader. I'm using NOVA launcher.
I activated developer mode.
If I try to change to Art I have to confirm a message of library change and reboot. So I do it, N5 reboot, I go back to developers adjust and I see that I continue on Dalvik. I tryed it sometimes but never starts with Art.
Any solution? What happens with my Nexus?
Thanks

yea, xposed breaks art. it used to just not boot, but they now made it so it doesnt switch to art. all root does is give you permission to mess with system files or use root apps.

Hi,
Go into Xposed Framework, Framework-> Uninstall (it will restore the original file "app_process") then reboot.
If it's not enough uninstall Xposed Framework and modules from Settings/Apps.

This will make the launcher home screen 4 (wide) x 5 (high)
It will also make the app drawer 4 (wide) x 6 (high)
Only tested on Verizon GS5 (SM-G900V)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, make sure busybox is installed before flashing. It uses it to mount /system during the flash process.

I was thinking about doing it if someone asked but after seeing how tedious the process is I'm not so sure.
I'm very used to "home" being in the middle, and not at the left end, of the home screens, so I'd really like to try this. But in the event I decided I didn't like it, how would I go back to the stock settings? Is there an "un-install" for this?
Edit - I just realized, having made a nandroid of the stock ROM with Safestrap, I could just restore that to get back to the factory setup on the home screens if I wanted to, right?

Well first of all this has nothing to do with where the home screen is, it just changes the grid size.
As for restoring, just make a backup of /system/priv-app/TouchWizHome.apk and if you want to go back just restore that file through safestrap.
This is just awesome, I was wondering if it is possible to make the icons a little bit bigger, and also wondering if we could have the Google search bar in every screen, like the Google launcher.
Thanks for the nice mod! !!

Thanks for clarifying that, but I immediately saw the first point above for myself. I made the mistake of assuming your modification would bring about every aspect of the picture you showed (in which your main homescreen is centered). Since that was the main reason I was looking at this modification, I decided to switch to Nova Launcher to get that feature. But thanks for the mod, and for answering my questions.
anybody know if this would work and is even needed on Alliance rom ?
If not needed.. how would I enable in Alliance ?
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for you and decisions thereafter, and so on (you all know this), I'm not responsible, etc. This is BETA testing for the DBooster for Sprint Note 4 (may or may not work right yet). ALWAYS MAKE BACKUP before anything.
POWER TO THE USER, UNLEASH THE PHONE FROM CARRIER BONDS
Hello all, thread is and will be the DBooster for Sprint variant once up and running, so I'm making a thread once out of beta and ready for flashing. I will allow any and all to beta test (in a non-flashable file, ONLY EXPERIENCED SHOULD ATTEMPT... for now) I will continue to develop for this as I receive feedback from testers and (hopefully) have this finished within few days.
Directions for Quicktile DBooster:
1. Open up SQLite Editor
2. Select the Apps tab -> scroll down to Settings Storage and select
3. Click settings.db
4. Click system
5. Click search icon on top right (easiest method to filter) or scroll through db (harder way)
6. Type "notification" in the Filter Value field and press ok
7. Tap "notification_panel_active_app_list" -> select pencil icon on top to edit
8. In Value field, all enabled toggles are listed. Now, add the word "NetworkBooster" (no spaces or quotation marks) to end of list (make sure to have NO SPACES between entries and semicolons separating each entry)
----> ex. Wifi;MobileData;WifiHotspot;Sound; ....
9. Once you add "NetworkBooster", click save button.
10. Close SQLite editor and reboot/profit
Changelog:
- 12/5: Beta 3 release, same as before
-12/17: status update, been working on it when have time, finals just finishing and will be releasing beta by weekend.
-1/19: Beta 3.1 release (AFH will have as beta 3, just make sure upload data is 1/19)

Don't quote me exact on this since I don't have phone (was asked to do this). I believe you paste jar in system/ by itself (not final location but will save from possible random reboot, important step). Navigate to system/framework folder, .bak file the sprint services.jar/odex (if there). Then go cut/paste Mod services from /system/ to framework/ folder (DO NOT DELETE sprint services in case obviously). Add quicktile for easier access to turn on (in OP). Reboot and see.
Ok its there how do i add a tile
