Almost perfect way to Set dpi on Note 3.(Root) - Galaxy Note 3 Themes and Apps

So I was looking into a way to change the dpi of my n9000. I loved PacMan rom for mt Xperia Z. I used to use a tablet UI with 200 dpi and I liked it. When I tried build.prop editors. Nothint changed.
So I did the following. Its very simple. But it did the job.
Download Xposed Installer
Install the framework.
Go to modules.
Download App Settings.
Activate it from Xposed.
Then open App Settings. Grant Root permissions.
Search for Android Ui
Change the dpi to what ever suits you. Am using 340. Works like a charm for me.
I took the extra efforts of chaning the dpi for settings. Browser. Whatsapp. BBM. And a few more apps according to my use. It worked.
WARNING : Do Not change the Android System dpi. It makes the keyboard horribly large.
After you change the dpi to something smaller than stock. There will be a little space between the status bar and the app.
Touchwiz does not look well in the less dpi. I recommend some other launcher which supports custom rows and columns. I use Nova Prime.

How much dpi are you using ?

Im very interested in rooting and then changing dpi but when i tried changing build prop with my old S3 it went into boot loop and i had to do an emergency recovery.
Anyways could someone upload som screenshots of lesser dpi settings on note 3, would be nice to see if its worth the hazzle.

I have a problem with setting the dpi of the samsung phone app with this app, everything else works fine. I set the dpi first by editing the build prop but the dialer did not like it so i tried to set it back to original dpi but it wont respond to any changes, only option is to revert the build prop.

Use solid explorer or root explorers and change the LCD density in build prop. I am using 350 at the moment and it's been good... I then use the xposed module app settings to change the Samsung apps like phone and calculator back to 480 so they don't look ridiculous all bunched up in the corner of the screen.. worked a treat on every rom I use.. do it on kitkat roms on my nexus 4 and s4 with no dramas as well until a PA type rom comes out

tablet mode has been removed from base android since 4.2 or 4.3 (i cant recall which one right now).
when you see it in a rom it is the re-addition in xml layout files to enable the 'tablet' mode again
^^^ read this in another thread
i wouldn't mind giving tablet mode a go again myself on such a large device when we see some AOSP love that will enable it again:good:

[Q] Can i edit build.prop to make phone think its a tablet?

I want to use the tablet version of Slingplayer on my Evo LTE instead of the phone version for higher resolution. I know this may not be possible anyway. But can i edit the build.prop to make my phone think its a Xoom or Transformer to maybe get this to work?

It is possible to edit build.prop doing but just remember it comes with its own issues. The east way to do it its download ROM toolbox from the market and go to build.prop tweaks. Choose anything from 160-240. 160 its tablet size.

If you do it manually, you have to make sure the right settings are set up on ES or Root Explorer. Here is a good guide for future reference.

Download build.prop editor if you want to do more things with your device...or download density changer if you only want to change density...
Lots of apps are available on play store to do this...
Lower value =high resolution effect
Higher value =low resolution effect
One advice...
Keep in mind...
Some manufacturers modified their own ui over stock...which might causes some issues...
So... better to install another launcher... before applying... (third party launchers are able to catch any resolution...)

Thanks for pointing that app out. I'll look into it some more when I get the time. Turns out that beast left the dpi at 182 and didn't add the multi dpi play store. Some one likes SLIM way to much. Slim comes with it's own gapps that are modded for lower DPI. So after setting the DPI back to 240 and wiping data from Play and Google services frameworks then rebooting all is well.

Xposed frameworks Guide!!!! + Examples

How to install the Xposed Framework and Use it ( Thanks to Rovo 89)
For the framework:
Download XposedInstaller.apk and install it ( download below)
Launch the Xposed Installer and click on "Install/Update"
Reboot
Done!
For any modifications/modules you want to install:
Download <module>.apk and install it ( first install the app settings)
Launch the Xposed Installer and go to the "Modules" tab (you will also get there if you click on the notification warning you that the module is not enabled yet)
Enable the module by checking the checkbox
Reboot
Done!
Instructions for using modules :
Starting with Gmail
At this point i believe u have rebooted your phone after installing app settings and before that the Xposed installer itself
Open app settings and search for Gmail.
To get the kind of result displayed below
1. Change Screen(dp) settings to preferably 600*1024
2. Change font scale to 80 otherwise the dual panel will look messed up.
3. I would suggest u change the orientation to always landscape - worked best for me - depends on your liking
press the save button on the right top corner (then press yes) and check your newly designed gmail app right away
You can tinker with the settings and change it to your liking
Now lets move on to System Settings menu. (Dual panel!)( If u dont use Liquid smooth or AOKP)
search for settings in App settings
in the settings menu
Change DPI to 160
Screen(dp) to 1000*1600
and font scale to 130 ( ORIENTATION PREFERABLY ALWAYS LANDSCAPE )
Now save and check it out!
For the same thing - But If u use LiquidSmooth or AOKP)
Search for force dual panel in your system settings menu and check it.
Then go to app settings -> settings -> and then
Change DPI to 160
Font Scale to 110
Save and enjoy!
Now one last example for the PLAY STORE
Search for playstore in the app settings list and enter it.
Change DPI to 160
Font Scale to 110
Screen(dp) to 1000*1600 ( ORIENTATION PREFERABLY ALWAYS LANDSCAPE - YOUR CHOICE - WORKS BOTH WAYS )
Additional Settings for each app:
1. u can check fulscreen to disable statusbar in that app
2. Check screen on to change display timeout to never!( it will always stay on in that ap
3. go to locale settings and select the language u want to display it in!
It is cool to set SystemUI to 160, it makes your status bar very small, but still noticeable and visible.
Then, as I remember I couldn't get it to work on ViperS 3, SenseUI did FC. But on 1.6.3 it work like a charm, only issue is some icons in settings are not shown as they should - they become a red square.
EDIT: On ViperS 3.0.2 it works just fine, not sure what will happen after rebase tough.
Thanks will try that too. And will add links to more modules in a while

[MOD] ALL APPS in multiwindow

HI, here is the mod to have all apps in multiwindow bar!
Based on N9005 with Omega v.1 and working good. Need testing for other versions...
Just replace Service.jar in /system/framework and FlashbarService.apk in /system/app. Save the original ones just in case!
Reboot and enjoy!
Note: there is a little bug when adding some apps it's another that be added in bar but not a big problem.
I can't make it work. On my stock firmware. I try to replace both of the files. But the multi window option not appear. And also it make my pen-window broken. I can't create any pen window anymore.
