[Q] Red light flash after switching battery - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay im not a noob by most means i been on xda for years but i am stuck heres what i did. My original nexus 5 battery was quite aged so i opted to buy a new one on ebay as well upon firing up new battery in phone... nothing. So i switched back... nothing. Original battery worked before. When i plug in with either battery i get red light flashes. My assumption is somehow i fried the motherboard. Please let me know if someone could help me. Btw ive kept on charger for days and tried getting into revovery etc. Only sign of life is red flashes. Im stuck with stupid Samsung galaxy mega right now so im sure you can understand the urgency and thank yoy to all especially the developers here on XDA, with or without an answer your work is so appreciated beyond what you get credit for

Are you using the original charger and USB cable? Maybe try a 2.0 amp charger.

[Q] Battery/Charging Problem

Heya all!
So a few a week before Christmas I unrooted my inspire to give to my girlfriend for christmas and she liked it very much.
She used it for a few weeks but a few days after New Years she said it wouldn't turn on and when she plugged her phone in to the charger it did something weird.
So I went over and checked it out...
When I plugged the inspire in the screen lit up showed a full green battery and the LED was amber and blinking then it suddenly went looked as if it wasnt charging anymore... Then it showed the screen and went blank and did this cycle for a few minutes....
She used all the wall plugs in her house and her laptop and got the same results... So is this a charging or a battery issue? Any help would be appreciated
Thank you all in advance!
EDIT: Also when the battery comes on the screen there is no % sign

Sounds Like a bad battery but is also symptoms of a failing main board. Try a different battery if you got one and if it still fails, send it in for warranty

Just ordered a battery and should be here in 2 days or so .... Then Ill go and try it around saturday... Hopefully thats just what it is!
And if not I shall just send it in...
Thank you for your help!
Also another question... If the main board has died do they replace the whole phone?
Don't know for sure, but you will probably get one that has already been refurbished. That's usually how it works.
Did you try another Charger or USB
Did you try another charger and or USB? The reason I ask is i had a issue with mine not exactly the same; however similar. I would charge for hours and only get a 3- 5 % increase. I thought my battery had went. Then I was connected to my car charger and it seamed to work a better. I then tried my wife's charger for her Atrix and it worked fine. My charger had went bad. If you haven't tried another charger it my be a good idea.
Sorry it would not let me quote the original post.

[Q] Epic 4G Dies on charger even sometimes even when off

Ok so first of imma noob to posting on this forum so if this is in the wrong place please tell me
(but im in no way a noob to the forum i came here for help be cause this is were i always come)
now the problem Ok so i have a Samsung Epic 4G as its know as here that im lucky if i can get it to charge. the problem started a couple of weeks ago originally it would charge as high as it would get till unplugged then wouldn't charge until rebooted(it would say it was but it would die instead of charging). then it started to only charge if it was turned off and occasionally it would charge a little bit when turned on. now its to the point where it will charge when off but after a while it will die instead of charge WHEN OFF its pissed me off so bad and ive searched and searched but no answers
little more background this phones gone threw more usb cables /chargers then anything mainly due to the cords breaking getting cut or me dropping the phone with the charger plugged in and bending the little piece that plugs in to the phone but it always charged again it just got a little more selective of what it would charge off of. currently im trying to get a charge in to it so i can get it to work in case i need it but in the mean time i ended up just flashing a htc evo 4g over to virgin since well i aint touching that optimus v
the specs of the phone are its currently running cm9 i upgraded to cm10 a year ago didnt like it went back im mainly looking for help to see if this could be a charger issue as in cable ive tried different usb wall plugs or a phone issue seing as this phones taken a beating or if it could be the battery ods are im gonna end up just buying one off of ebay be cause i love my epic 4g and im not replacing it unless the next device has a keyboard and can be flashed to virgin mobile
if theres any extra info you need let me know i posted the info i though was most important but there might be more if you think the phones a bust and i should just get a new one let me know if you have one to sell gimme a price
the things ive tried are rebooting like 300times i did a factory reset threw recover and did a fresh install of the same rom cm9 like i said above and didnt restore anything (incase of a corrupted file) i havent tried any different roms because i dont see a point since cm9 is like the only i really like and i mean i know it inside and out (settings and tweaks wise)
thank you to any one that can or tryes to help in advance

[Q] [Help! Phone stuck at 5%]

Hi, I have had my Motorola Atrix HD for 2 years now and just today my phone was stuck at 5%. I tried to see if it was my charger but it wasn't, then I looked at the battery and it looked normal as usual so I tried to just clean like the dust off the charger. I also tried to reset my phone to see if that helped but still no luck... I don't know what to do! Is my phone broke? The reason I want it fixed is because obviously the warranty is gone and I can't purchase a new phone. So I just want to see if anyone can help me... I forgot to mention that when I power off the phone it turns on ( plugged in to charger) shows a battery with a question mark in it. So please if anyond can help please do

LG G3 - Fried battery and/or charging port?

Let me lay down the story first:
It all started when I tried out multiROM for the LG G3. I was running cm12 perfectly fine, unlocked and everything. Amazing battery life. But MultiROM barely worked, even though I followed the instructions exactly, I had many errors trying to get anything to boot properly. I got help with it, but ended up getting rid of multirom via internal storage (where it was) and flashing a normal, non modified TWRP 2.8.4.0. This is where stuff starts getting weird.
After getting rid of multiROM and flashing cm12 again from backup, I noticed my phone wouldn't take a charge at all. It was booted up and running at about 30% battery. My PC wouldnt do anything when I plugged it into my computer, too. I thought it was just Cyan being weird, so I rebooted into twrp and tried plugging in. No buzz, still wouldn't take a charge. For some reason, turning the phone off and plugging in the charger while it was off actually turned it on. So the charging port has to be working, the phones just being weird... but then I decided to smell the charging port. Smells like pure burning electronics. I rebooted the phone with the cable plugged in, and it boots up and charges. This is odd, because i can no longer plug the cable in while the phone is on, i have to reboot it with the cable in now in order to get it to charge. I tried flashing back to stock ROM, and same exact issue happens. Not only that, but the battery no longer holds a charge for more than a day on one full charge. It lasts about 3-4 hours now.
Please, xdaers, help a brotha out. I'm really pissed about whatever the hell is happening to my G3. It still works fine, I just have to reboot it with the cable in in order to get it to charge at all and the battery life sucks on top of that.
Note: One time after all this happened, the phone died fully. Plugging the charger in, the battery logo was flashing on and off. I tried multiple cables and chargers with the same problem. I pulled out the battery with the cable still in, and the battery logo actually stayed on the screen and once I put the battery back in, it charged again. THIS IS MAJORLY CONFUSING and hard to explain so I will clarify my issue if you are confused with my post.
Also, the phone likes to get really hot and die fast by itself even without the charger plugged in now.
thanks guys
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA assist. Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
For future reference you can find your device sub-forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):

Good luck!
So you flashtooled back to stock? And still persists? If so you next option is to buy both a battery and a charging port and do some trouble shooting.

Don't know about the charging port, but as far as battery life I'm getting the same thing, except mine lasts about 2 hours, I've decided I'm selling the phone while its still worth a bit of money, probably getting a Note 2 or Xperia Z2, I've been very unhappy with this phone, also my battery cover is falling apart and cracking,

Well I've had none of your problems. Note 2 or z2 is a downgrade. Have fun with that... Sucks your experience hasn't been a good one. Cheers

I get 13+ hours with 4 to 5 hours screen on time and 1to 2 hours of talk time. So I don't think your battery issue is normal for this phone. You have either a defective battery or phone or an app that is misbehaving.
I'm having the exact same problem with LG G3.
Can only charge when rebooted. And even then the charge indicator does not show charging.
I have to go into setting->battery where it shows 'charging'
I have tried new battery and cleaning port.
Anyone figure this out...?
My battery drained very fast before too after backed up to stock, but after I upgraded to 5.0, my phone can lives up to next morning!

non responsive s6

Hello, my niece brought me an faulty s6 and asked if i could fix it. Since i used to repair peoples phones a few years ago.
When i got it, it was completely dead, except a white light of doom on the led bulb when i tried to boot in DLmode/recovery. That later stopped lighting too. I then tried to change the battery for a new one. It didn't change a thing, so i thought it might be the charging port. So i got a qi charger...
So here we are, the qi charger tries to charge it (i can see the light animation for it). The phone gets warm but no sign of any juice to the battery..
Can't see any next steps that are worthwhile..
I would really like to get the data off the phone tho..
Any ideas?

Do you get any sign of life plugging into a pc? Adb is your best bet to get data but you need to be careful using it.

Nope, no life at all. Don't think I'll be able to salvage this one
