[Q] [Help! Phone stuck at 5%] - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I have had my Motorola Atrix HD for 2 years now and just today my phone was stuck at 5%. I tried to see if it was my charger but it wasn't, then I looked at the battery and it looked normal as usual so I tried to just clean like the dust off the charger. I also tried to reset my phone to see if that helped but still no luck... I don't know what to do! Is my phone broke? The reason I want it fixed is because obviously the warranty is gone and I can't purchase a new phone. So I just want to see if anyone can help me... I forgot to mention that when I power off the phone it turns on ( plugged in to charger) shows a battery with a question mark in it. So please if anyond can help please do

[Q] Atrix2 battery issues , seems hardware

Searched all over but never came across a similar issue posted anywhere.
When I connect the charger while the phone is on... it "shows charging". But is does charge "real slow" .
Then when I "take off the charger" , It "still shows charging"(lightning sign).
After I "reboot" to get rid of that , it boots up with red "Low battery". But it doesn't turn off for a while ,which hints the battery itself has no issue.
Whereas when I connect in and then disconnect the USB from my "PC" , it still indicates the USB connected sign.
When charging while the phone is "off", it shows charging (with the large battery sign) but the charged level keeps @ 0%.
PS: If I keep the phone turned off while the battery is inside for 2,3 days.. the batteries drain without any clue , the phone won't turn on.
Tried all factory reset & calibrating stuff , I start to wonder if this is an issue with my USB port or the battery connectors. I might be needing experts help ..Please help
[I do not hv any warranty left for this]
Maybe you need to try a new battery. That's all.

Yeah thnx bud, I could try that If I know for certain . Else it would be a waste.
What worries me is the issue with the "USB connection to PC". Which has nothing to with the battery circuit.
Have you tried another cable?
Sent from my MB865 running CM10
The issue seems to be probably with either the USB cable or the port.try another cable to be sure..

Discharge while off sounds like a bad battery. Does it lose charge if you charge it and take it out of the phone?

Tried that , when I take it out and keep ,the charge stays perfect. That's why I'm guessing the battery is ok .

Yeah tried another cable . Made no difference . I think I should try replacing the port . Hope that's not very expensive .
Updates for my problem, (still no clue though).
I messed up with some MOTOMIZER app and happend to change the dalvik heap size to default(don't remember the value) . Just after this the phone boots only up to "Rethink possible" screen.
It won't let me flash via fast boot , "battery low cannot program" comes up.
Then I bought an external charger and a 3rd party battery . Fully charged the battery via the ext; charger and went to fast boot. No surprises , "battery low cannot program" came up again.
It seems the phone does not recognize the full voltage of the battery , even it's fully charged.
Now If anyone with some clue, pls help me out here.
I would suggest flashing with a factory cable. With it you pull the battery and the cable powers the phone so you can flash. I have one and it's been very handy. Give me a little while and I'll post a couple of links. You can make your own or buy one from xda member sKoRpn for like $10 shipped in the U.S. if you dont want to wait on me jump over to the kindlefire general forum.

Nice..Really appreciate man. I really didn't know about these factory cables. But just now I did my research.
Then again I doubt whether my phone recognizes the voltage. Anyways , definitely worth a shot.
I found some cables for sale. There are not recommended specially for Atrix2 but for Kindle Fire , Atrix , Droid Razr etc . Will those be compatible with A2 ??
Yeah man, It works on all moto phones and the kf. Really useful when you don't have a full charge on the phone.

Sounds to me like you need to get a replacement phone via warranty. Possibly the battery too. If you are with AT&T call the warranty department. If not, then call motorola and try and use their 1 year warranty to get this fixed.

[Help]Sony Xperia E - RED LED unchargable battery

Hello guys , I am having a serious problem with my Sony Xperia E , it seems to be bricked. Something went wrong , I heard it happens sometimes because of software bug or whatever , and your phone goes into this sleep mode , which won't charge at all. I mean , when I plug it in to charge , the red led lights up (once every 3-4 seconds) untill it finally starts up , but when it starts up it shutdowns since the battery is 0% and not charging. On the internet I could not find any help about Sony Xperia E and this red led error. So , if anyone knows what to do.. Please help me , I'm too lazy to take it to a service and besides I don't got money to spare for it

Hi Cezar and everyone else (this is my first post),
I had the exact same problem and i was sure i bricked my phone beyond repair but there is a way to fix it. So my first thought was to externaly charge my battery but you can't do that, so i came up with a way. You will need to strip one end of the USB cable and separate the black and the red wire. The red wire is positive and the black is negative. Put the two wires between the battery and the positive and negative sockets in your phone (like shown in the pictures [attached]). And now your phone will be charging .
And do not forget, red is the postive, black the negative!
I hope this solves your problem!
P.S. Don't mind the black box, I built it just so i can use it for projects to have a power source, it's just a switch and a LED

Hello,
I was in the exact same situation yesterday with my Xperia J but luckily i managed to fix it, Your battery is able to charge what's happened is it's completely flat like there's no juice left, So what you have to do Plug your charger in via Mains and leave it like that for a good hour or two, Take your phone off charge and push the power button and see if the red led flashes 3 times if it does this means your battery is still flat, So what i did next is plugged it in via USB and put it in flashmode attempting to flash stock rom back onto it, but that just completely failed so then i tried flashing CWM that did get me somewhere my phone booted up after but then it died again so i left it on charge via USB this time for one hour and it was charging as usual i then flashed Stock rom back onto it, it was still bricked after (bootloop) so i flashed it again, and it got my device back to good health, Not sure if any of that made sense but **** it

Thanks for the post and the help , but I have a question , in this way will I still be able to get things from my PC to my device and vice-versa ? or it will make it chargeable only ?
And also , is this the only way to deal the problem ? And do you have any ideea what causes this ?
Hi cezar,
Just keep your phone on origenal charger and cable for an hour. This should work.

Well with this method you will need a spare USB cabel for data transfer/flashing because this one will be just a USB on the one side and stripped wires on the other.
This is the only way I found how to deal with this problem, you could always find someone with the same phone so that he can charge your battery for you.
This problem is a symptom of a soft brick. I guess you flashed a ROM that isn't stable so you found yourself in a loop. My advice is to do one of the things I said and in the future flash nee ROMs with at least 50% battery so you don't find yourself in this situation!
P.S. Try SONYs Emma, thats a cute little program for flashing stock ROMs especially in situations like this one.

In my case this disnt't work because my phone was stuck in a loop, it would start charging, boot up by itself, get to the point that it has 0% battery and power off by itself.

hmm I just thought about this. I do have indeed a custom ROM , but this didn't happen in process of flashing. just randomly , a month maybe I after cyanogenmod 11. Anyways , I just thought about this. What if I get another batterry from one of my friends , flash back to stock on my device and then give back the battery to that guy. Wouldn't that just work ?

[Q] Red light flash after switching battery

Okay im not a noob by most means i been on xda for years but i am stuck heres what i did. My original nexus 5 battery was quite aged so i opted to buy a new one on ebay as well upon firing up new battery in phone... nothing. So i switched back... nothing. Original battery worked before. When i plug in with either battery i get red light flashes. My assumption is somehow i fried the motherboard. Please let me know if someone could help me. Btw ive kept on charger for days and tried getting into revovery etc. Only sign of life is red flashes. Im stuck with stupid Samsung galaxy mega right now so im sure you can understand the urgency and thank yoy to all especially the developers here on XDA, with or without an answer your work is so appreciated beyond what you get credit for
Are you using the original charger and USB cable? Maybe try a 2.0 amp charger.

Oneplus One Reboot Issue : Suggestion or Help Needed

My OPO is having a reboot issue, was on cos13, cm14.1 and ubuntu with mutirom,
Symptoms
1. the phone stays on if connected to a charger or powerbank.
and without charger it bootloops at the 1+ logo
2. in switched off state, when charger is connected the battery sometimes shows 0% and increases to 100%
3. with charger i entered cm recovery, removed the charger, the phone stayed all night long with cm recovery menu display on.
after draining the battery, i plugged back charger and the phone in switched off state did show the regular charging animation and took the usual time to full charge.
after full charge I removed the charger, tried to power on the phone boot loops at 1+ logo.
4. without charger it can enter fastboot mode.
5. with charger it can boot into os, shows charging, led lit up, but after removing charger it won't stay long, also if opening camera it turns off.
6. even on powerbank it can boot up and stay switched on. and work normally (camera etc anything)
(7. while turned off and on charger the animation shows charging but the top led isn't on.) - I don't remember it lighting up on charging while switched off
8. the night before this issue occured, my phone rebooted twice while watching youtube. and in the previous nights also I noticed battery dropping overnight.
what all I tried,
1. fastboot flashed cos, - not solved
2. flashed using Qualcomm USB port tool - not solved.
3. ran the make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 command in twrp. - not solved.
4. erased and flashed persist.img - not solved.
so what could be the problem, opo is now my secondary phone, now using op3 as primary.
The battery is at its end of its life....replace the battery and all your problem will be gone...
you're not the only one that have experiences this problem (i have seen more then 10 people having the same problem)...last year and this year there a lot of people having bootloop problem due to dying battery...factory reset, flash stock rom and etc won't help you solved this problem...
i personally have this problem last year and after i replace the battery all my problem gone...i think Oneplus made OPO batteries only lasted for 2 and a half year....

thanks for the reply i guessed that, but still wasn't sure, can it be also due to any issues to board, anyway since i've done with flashing and all i'll try an OP service center, and hope it won't costs me big.

Nope it is not issues with the motherboard but batteries...the phone can be turn on like normal when charger is connected and goes into bootloop once the charger is disconnected....its a clear sign that the battery is dying...when it connected to the charger, it may look like the battery is full but it is not...just buy a new battery and all your problem will be gone...you can try flashing lot of rom, revert to stock or whatever you do in fastboot but it ain't gonna help you...it might boot normally but within an hour it will goes back to bootloop....
like i said before i was on the same pages as you last year...all the flashing stuff didn't work until i replace the battery....there no issues with the motherboard whatsoever....my phone still work atm without any bootloop problem...
feel free to go to OP services center if you want, if they tell you it was a motherboard issues then you have been screwed by the services center by repairing something that is still in good condition and you gonna pay more then just a batteries afterwards...

I have almost exactly the same problem. The thing is I cannot find a way to enter multirom recovery even on a charger. When on a charger it tries to boot into my primary rom but gets stuck on it endlessly.
Are you sure its the battery? I mean, mine charges to 100% when plugged in and doesnt seem to have any problem with charging. Mine did it a few days ago, it went into a bootloop for no reason. I havent touched anything for a year and it happened so randomly and lost everything I had on it...

Hey dude Thanks a lot... I was facing exactly same issue for last 2 days... I bought OPO on Dec 5 th 2014... I think its battery only works 2 years...
@iPusak Gaoq™, tried to get a suitable battery online but the shipping charge killed most deals, some were even counterfeits, so finally I decided to visit an op service centre, they replaced the battery with a new one, now my OPO is good as new. thanks again.
I was just going to post, about my issue, but the forum suggested your post. I read the first post, and yes, I am facing the exact same problem. Taking a picture and the phone shuts off. Vibrating from getting a notification and restart.
And the saddest part, the phone won't boot into OS if is it not plugged to PC or AC power.
My Opo is almost two years old. Can you suggest a good battery replacement for me?

Hard to suggest which batteries is good if you planning to bought it online cause there no way you can know whether the batteries you gonna buy is original or OEM...only when you bought the batteries in a retail store then you can see whether its original or OEM and yes the differences between both batteries is noticeable...
