I read a post from Tek somewhere saying version 8 is being worked on and it will be epic. I assume that is why the thread were closed, but idk for sure.

Its never been huge for AOSP devs. The Note 4 has a lot of touchwiz Devs so even when comparing Touchwiz roms from the Note 4 to the Note 5 we are lacking.

He didnt close the threads because of the new version. Especially when you consider his "lite" rom thread that doesn't usually get all the tweaks is closed as well. Nevermind the people that would still need help and support IF the ROMs are still being maintained by him.
Not to mention all download links and photos having been removed from the OPs

Than why did he close the threads?
I saw a post from him a couple of days ago saying he was working on version 8 after the threads were closed, if I remember correctly. I have not seen any other posts by Tek with any information about why he closed the threads so I just figured that might have to do with it.

Without going into it, someone came and made some claims about kanging I believe.
He's never closed a thread prior to the release of a newer version. At least that has never been the case since the Note 4. Just wouldn't make any sense to close the thread without a reason, remove all download links and screenshots.

well that sucks

There's been more & more Devs pulling up stakes on this phone. Why is up for debate.

[PROJECT] PORT 4.4 Kit Kat to GE S4

Hey Everyone with less than a week away from the Nexus 5 Release I wanted to open up a Developer discussion thread for porting 4.4 Kit Kat to our Google Edition Galaxy S IV. Its hard to tell when Google will start rolling out updates for all of their GE phones so why wait!
What we need. I am going to pre-order the Nexus 5 once it goes up but in the mean time if you Get one or you find a System Dump please post the links or your download page HERE in this thread. Since it is stock 4.4 I am assuming the bloatless image will be small enough to port over to our phone and then we can start working out the bugs from there.
Please post your HELPFUL thoughts pertaining to port discussion, ideas, challenges here.

4.4
I remember being pleasantly surprised at how quickly 4.3 came to GE edition after being released. As best I remember, it was just three or four days for Samsung to adapt to the kernel we use and release.
I'm guessing it will be about the same with 4.4 and we will get it within a few days of when older Nexus devices receive the update.
Of course all root users will do well to wait until yourself or SamuriHL offers prerooted image.
In any case, I'm excited that it is coming soon.

I remember this rule:
Developement Section is only for developement and no placeholders
and i don't know how "big changes" there are on Nexus devices around but when its out there will be someone who will port it
Moved here, since this does not belong in the Development Sections....Thank You.
Porting it would be terrible.. I manage a 4.3.1 AOSP source that builds completely for i9505 without any problems. so I just upgrade to 4.4 and there we have kitkat. from source. source will release tuesday if the interwebs is correct
screw porting if you can compile from source
I also remember a rule about other members ( LastStandingDroid ) coming in and flaming or trolling other peoples threads! Maybe you did not notice this is a project post like our other Touchwiz coming soon thread bud or others that morphed into what WE the I9505G community has today....and no need to Quote OP's either.
Sorry I posted in our I9505G A&D section mahalo for looking out otherwise.
------------------------------------------------------------------
To answer Broodplank1337 yes a from source build would be the BEST I agree but in the interests of time ( mainly mine ) I might jump on a port first but we would love to have anything your working on 4.4 posted here

Ok cool. let me know if you get it to work you would be the first on the world if you do it quickly. On Oct. 15 (Tuesday) the sources will be released :silly:
But there's a leak already! Check it: https://twitter.com/shen_ye/status/387318434448437248
I assume he'll release it after 4.4 starts rolling...
i dont think there's any need for a port considering how fast the GE will get 4.4, problably a week or two after release

I don't consider this as trolling. It's just a rule. And before your port is completely bug free the most of us are using ge 4.4 for days without any problem. So a nexus port is a little bit... What shall I say... Pointless

We (i9505G users) received 4.3 exactly 8 days after the Nexus 4 rollout, and the 66Y update was roughly 2 weeks. What makes you think that i9505G users won't get their update "anytime soon"?
Also, the reason why your thread got moved is because the development section is for honest development, not for someone to place a useless placeholder thread for the sole sake of having their name displayed as the OP. The whole point of developing software for a device is to make something that doesn't otherwise exist for that device. Google/Samsung should have a stable/final release of 4.4 within mere weeks of the Nexus rollout, so there is literally no point in us doing all of that porting work when it's being done for us. Instead, we'll be using that as a base to provide mods/enhancements/etc.

[Q&A] [rom] 915t tmobile [lab rats rom] 12-3

Q&A for [rom] 915t tmobile [lab rats rom] 12-3
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [rom] 915t tmobile [lab rats rom] 12-3. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
What is the TJJ Tmobile version?
And how do I know if I am running it so I can install the Rat Pack Galaxy Edge ROM?

Typo... I meant NJL TMOBILE
The Lab Rats ROM instructions say This is based off of NJL TMOBILE ONLY - do not flash if upgraded to newest firmware!

I can't post in that thread though because I don't have 10 posts yet.

NJL is the older version before the new update that just came out which is NK3. I'm sure the Dev will update his Rom to work with NK3 soon. just keep an eye on the OP page.

I was wondering the same thing; after installing this rom I noticed that the edge screen panel lost its transparency. I am sure this can only be fixed in a future rom update if the developer chooses to do so.

For the record I was not really referring to how long it takes to answer my question, as I work in the Technology field, I'm at work and also have a life. I was referring to the underutilization of Q&As in general. As its quicker to get an answer, feedback or open discussion on the development forum but posts are ADMIN Noted and pushed here. I noticed it's much more strictly enforced on some phone forums but say for a S5 it's tons of Q&A discussions right in the development forum itself for a particular Rom. Which is cool because it's more traffic. I don't personally care which one I use but.... Seems like Q&A Forums are trolled by some people who may or may not be more knowledgeable about a certain subject than another and can't wait to chime in with an answer like "You literally posted your previous question twelve hours before. No arguments here. I'm running the Rom. My question was about the edge transparency but I think you referenced my previous question about whether to dirty flash or not. Which was answered privately. lab rats rom miracast!!
I am thinking of trying this rom, but I have a question. Would using this rom break miracast capability. The phone usually checks itself to see if the rom is official, does using this rom bypasses this. I use the feature everyday, and would hate to lose it. back in the note 2 days we would have to use triangle away to fool the system into thinking it was official.

Yeah I didn't even wipe dalvik/cache. I was coming straight off of stock NK3. It's been running smoothly. The only thing i need to do now is skin 3minit to match the rest of the rom. The colors stick out like a sore thumb.

I don't use miracast, but screen mirroring still works between my Note Edge and my Samsung TV. If I could test miracast I would. I thought the miracast issue was broken because of a custom kernel?

Stable S6 ROM

I am new to rooting and flashing custom ROMS. I have an AT&T Galaxy S6 and I want to know what's the cleanest and most stable way I can root this device and install a custom ROM? I have been having issues since I received an over the air update from AT&T, and even when I reboot my phone to factory settings that update still gets pushed through. So my choice now is get a new phone or try a custom ROM and see if that helps.

In the S6 General section. I believe this is probably your best bet in terms of ROM's, slap Hacker Kernel on the side and enjoy many battery benefits too!

Due respect, aren't we here to help?
Instead of saying it that way, why don't you guide him through, everyone needed help at the beginning, and you are not an exception.
I have been using the ROM someone linked above (xtrestolite 3.3.1) since I got the phone used several months ago. It's been nearly flawless, almost no lag at all, battery life much better than stock. I tried a couple other roms and had issues almost immediately so I went back to this. I'm sticking with it until after custom roms based on the nougat update come out, so several more months likely.
You can use alexis rom it's very good.with pretty handy feature s like clock position in status bar, network speed indicator, touchwiz launcher gestures etc..

Indeed, you're right in every word you said but to be honest, I was going to message him to help him but something disturbed me and I forgot about the whole case. Apparently, everyday users post something like that, asking for the "best ROM and kernel", I just got tired seeing those posts, in fact, it's the first time I reply to this kind of post. With all my respect, thanks for clarifying your point and opinion.
