New update - PD2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Full build is G920VVRU4CPD2 and as the firmware isn't available, you are to check for an OTA to get it.
Comes with loads of new stuff, and removes some (bye-bye Amazon app).
Find the changelog here.
And, be sure to check for a firmware here - Galaxy S6 firmware

All the firmware in the link are outdated for us.

I got it OTA.

downloading now...will post an update on my thoughts
edit: pretty much just minor bug fixes, removal of amazon music and expanded application manager capabilities...nothing spectacular

My only thought- May 1 Security Patch and May isn't even over yet? OMG! Maybe Verizon has gotten serious.

Captured .md5 for the update and am uploading to Mega now. Will provide link when completed. Edit: Link is https://mega.nz/#!M15nCSyJ!n1p78jWWdRJNGejBT8BaqqXC1c-TzPx8CSuoiTQkt6Q sorry I had forgotten encryption key. Mirror

Update PD2 MD5 File
Here is a link to the captured MD5 file for Update PD2 for the Galaxy 920V.

Instructions for Odin:
1: Open Odin
2: Put device into download mode. Vol Down + Power
3: Select AP in Odin
4: Navigate to folder where firmware has been Extracted (Extract Zip only not MD5.zip)
5: Select PD2 Firmware MD5 File (Be patient)
6: Press Start and wait for the message up top to say Pass. (It will reboot your device) Your device will take a bit before coming back online.

Accidentally took the update yesterday. Nothing new. However, lots of apps seemed to be acting strange after the update. Spotify crashing and Maps not displaying all results. Did a system cache wipe and all seems to be better. Anyone else?

Maps works for me, I notice photo editor+ crashes tho

Don't think we will ever see this, on any current or future Samsung phones with Verizon.

Now, Advanced Calling is not working. I toggled it on and off, tried switching to just HD Voice, rather than HD Voice and Video calling. It appears as though everything is correct, but it is not working when a call is actually placed. Boo.

Yes, all S6 and S6 edge have the capability. For what ever reason, Verizon decided we don't need this feature enabled.

so to flash this we use Odin...?

Yes and no. Verizon has a nasty habit of disabling it at hardware level. So not only did they decide we don't need it but will NEVER need it. Honestly just another money thing for them. Why would you use your data, and maybe pay for more, to listen to music?

In my experience, updating via LG Support Tool wipes everything. I am backing up all my data right now. Hopefully towelroot still works on this version.
EDIT: So I just finished the update via LG Support Tool. My data was left intact, but stuff was broke anyways - probably from using system cleaner app and then not having root after the update. So I am doing a factory reset anyway and will start all over. I expected it to be wiped anyway.

I ended up using the LG Mobile Support Tool to install the update. I wasn't able to install the OTA; it booted into TWRP, then when I rebooted the system, it said I was up to date, even though I was still on 10a. I lost root, but was able to re-root with towelroot. Everything was still there when I booted, although I don't have TWRP recovery. Not sure if I want to do that since I read somewhere that I will lose Knock Code. Make sure you back up your data just in case things don't go smoothly.

If I use KDZ to flash the update, will I loose TWRP? Or do you think a flashable zip file will be made in the future?
I just updated my NON ROOTED d801 g2 and now my touch screen does not work at all. No errors during installation.
I ran into this problem before when I tried to update the touchscreen firmware through the menus via
3845#801#
My screen would go unresponsive, but after 10 mins and a couple of reboots, it would work back (my guess is that it reverted to the old touch firmware).
This time though, the touchscreen seems to be permanently disabled. Anyone else running into this issue?

You can block SDM.apk with this debloater if you don't want to be nagged anymore. Seeing that the update was already downloaded you will have to enter recovery mode and clear cache to get rid of the install nag. After you do that and disable SDM.apk you will no longer get the notification. I went ahead and installed it anyways because I'm not too concerned with root. I'd rather have a secure device.

Your welcome. I feel the same here. My S6 lost root the Note 4 never had it except the dev ed I had for a short time so I got used to no root as well. With the debloater it's no big deal for me anymore and being able to theme really settled the issue for me. I can do basically everything I want and still have a secure phone without worrying when root will get killed. I do miss building ROMs a little but I can deal without it.

Only difference that I can make our is teh baseband updated from G935TUVU1APB6 to G935TUVU1APB8
Modem updates are generally about that size too if I'm not mistaken.

Hard to tell without looking at the actual update. They could have added something else into it that's just not showing up in the ABOUT section.

During the update, it seemed the device goes into Download mode, flashes new radios and firmware. Yay stability?
For me boot time is noticeably slower, and I have more trouble with apps on the sd card not having icons/being available for much longer at boot than before the update. Tests of sd transfer speeds are somewhat slower post update.
After the update, my wireless connection is TERRIBLE.
At first I thought my wireless router, but everything else in the house works great :-\ If I turn off the wifi, everything is normal. I'm glad I have truly unlimited LTE, because this is going to be annoying until they release an update patch.
I've already booted to bootloader and cleared the cache, no help. It's like a delay in connecting to anything wireless... Speedtest won't run because it times out on the ping test.
Hangouts works, but it's delayed. When I type a message, it says, "sending...." for about 20 seconds before it sends. :-\
If this is a nuisance at work all day today, I'll probably just backup everything and push the original stock rom from KIES.

I would imagine force stopping the system update software would get rid of the message and then using something like Package Disabler Pro to disable it would prevent it from checking again.

Post your nougat update.zip!

Whoever gets the update tomorrow. PULL THE UPDATE ZIP!
If I get it I will and post it, for the flat variant. I have ready done this from my wife's sprint edge variant.
Here is how you do it:
You have to be on the latest firmware and not rooted.
If you get the update notification.
Download it, but do not install it.
Then root your device. DO NOT WIPE IT
The update.zip is located in /data/fota/update.zip
Pull it using adb or use root Explorer to move it to the root of your SDCard and then your pc.
Please wait for someone to verify it works before flashing the update or unroot.
Come on people, support the community!

Since it tried to register too late, I cant do this (would have done so otherwise - I have restored to stock and re-rooted so many times I could do it in my sleep).
Now I will be looking forward to getting my hands on the ODINable download. I will test it right off and contribute feedback here after.
PS - just looked at the terms and conditions - they wouldn't like this at all lol.
PS2 - maybe they have seen these posts and pulled the plug - server down and Beta call in number down also - have bad feeling about this - could that inadvertently been sending out unlocked bootloaders??

They also said that it's not an issue on Samsung side but rather a problem with t-mobile's server's so guess were gonna have to wait till they get thing's resolved. So it looks like Samsung figured out everyone was sharing the files. For some reason the saved update.zip is failing to update the firmware when it is flashed. No fix yet.
Also I got the beta software so far you aren't missing out on much. It's still not as good as the Note 7s firmware was.

There are people in the beta forums talking about it and Samsung has referred to the Terms of Service saying users are "not supposed to share the beta software". My guess is that they don't have the servers setup to have TONS of people using the software and it feeding them log files etc. That's why they limited the beta to a set number of users. Also the Beta forums that you get access to as a part of the firmware are getting loaded up with comments from people, way more than Samsung staffed to handle.
Its not an assumption that they don't want everyone using it. It is an assumption that they changed the Tmobile firmware to make it so it couldn't be shared. Its a closed beta not open to all users restricting access is a part of a closed beta.
As for the next beta update. They will be making multiple changes over the coarse of the next month and there will be multiple firmware updates pushed out, per the text you receive when you look for a beta update. There is an additional beta setting to help users schedule the installations so they don't use up all their data. Since the tmobile firmware is locked down to specific devices that are a part of the beta program that practice will most likely continue in future beta updates.
If I had to take a wild guess my bet would be that if you are not a registered beta tester you won't get the next update at all and you won't be able to side load/flash it.

Its more than that. I got the beta. But i cant even flash the pulled update.zip from my own device. They did something that corrupts if trying to copy it.
Sounds like this is dead for TMo at this point ?
@billydroid and whoever has the update.zip and is rooted
Sounds like the nougat zip needs to be adb pulled from device instead of copying it that might make a differnce because your not copying it directly to sdcard or internal its getting pullled directly to pc thus it should stop it from getting corrupted but you will still need root to pull it from fota.

Love the walkthrough style. Thanks for writing this up.
Taking the dive later this week, I have been missing root since moving to QAA. I will try to update over the weekend.
Worked!
Everything worked like a charm. I was already on nougat. followed instructions from step 2 and everything is working. I did have to run root.bat twice to get supersu app to show up, but it was already stated in directions which helped greatly for me not to freak out at that point lol. Anyways as i stated it worked like a charm and anyone on the fence if you rooted before you will be able to do this for sure. Once again thank you very much good sir!
Thanks for the root method I have been waiting for something to come out can't wait to try.
And just a heads up it is frowned upon on XDA to share paid apps.
About to attempt, will post results
How is it running? Smooth? hot?

Thanks for the work! But not sure what you mean here. Are you saying Knox was tripped? And you cant use volume up when adjusting volume?

Im guessing its a package i disabled or didn't disable so it will take a bit to sort out. Its no biggie i might need to reroot. I can still raise the volume if i press volume down and move the slider. This is the only minor problem I've seen.
Does anyone know where I can find the nougat firmware? Trying to start fresh after a not successful root. Thanks

Power On. It might seem laggy at first but let it load. Check and see if everything is working BT/HotSpot/Voice/MMS. Shouldnt have to edit any APN's or anything.

Okay, but what if there is no data? Then what?
Worked great buddy. No issues here. Runs just as smooth for me as stock did.

If that's the case I would suggest starting over...But just data? Can you call or text? Bluetooth?Hotspot? Is there an LTE symbol in notification bar with no data? Or is it just bars with no service completely? Double check your package disabler.

I imported your XML files for the disabled packages and attempted root. I had an error where it would take a few minutes for an app to update after downloading, do you know how to fix this?

I actually completely restarted the process by reflashing back to stock with the file you linked at the beginning and just followed the process again and got it working this time. Cheers for this tutorial. :good:

Try clearing google play store and google play services cache, if there is little cache then clear data and reenter your gmail. Youre talking about when updating in play store right? If not try only disabling these below instead [from goongydin's thread] and flash engineer. Or manually disabling from list(dont import). But once we disable these apps and flash boot img, these apps aren't supposed to change status which would mean repetitive testing. My honest answer is always going to be try from beginning again.
Bootagent
Carrier Setup Wizzard
Chameleon
Com.android.carrierconfig
MobileInstaller
SAE
Setup Wizzard
securityLogAgent
