eSim - Samsung Gear S2

I ordered the Classic from bestbuy the other day. The lady told me that they have one is embedded with LTE for same price. She explained to me that I can make phone call through the watch and talk to the watch directly through bluetooth connection even though I am with t-mobile. Is that right ? Cause they don't have a demo to show me how it works.
She said only the LTE version can talk directly to the watch . The regular Classic or Platinum can not.
But my question is if the watch is only connect to bluetooth, why the Platinum version can't talk directly to the watch itself for phone calls. Does anyone know ? She said my watch will ring but to answer it, I need to use the phone.

I believe that is because the gear s2 classic bluetooth does not have a built in speaker. This is why you need to use the phone.
The gear s2 3g/LTE version has a built-in speaker which is why you can answer and make phone calls directly from the watch.

Thanks for clarifying this.

[Q] Will the Note Edge work with the Gear S?

Just got my Note Edge yesterday and I love it. But I can't get it to work with my Gear S watch? Very frustrating and I can't figure it out unless they just aren't compatible. Can anyone help?
I have a Note Edge paired with the Gear S that works great. I can use the Gear S via Bluetooth or cell. When you said that you just got the Edge, it makes me think that this Gear was set up with another phone prior to the Edge. If so, you'd have to factory reset the Gear.
My Gear Neo 2 is really finicky with the Edge. I think it is the flakey bluetooth on the entire Note 4 line. Every once in a while (maybe twice a week or more), I have to restart the watch to get it to talk to the phone again. I am totally awaiting the official Lollipop update for my Verizon variant as there are a large number of bluetooth changes in it. I am getting a bit concerned that Lollipop doesn't appear to be on the immediate radar for Verizon now that the S6 is out there
Anyway, I would try and factory reset the watch and start the connection process over. A bit inconvenient but I bet it will work.
i've got both and they're work very well. the bluetooth connection is stable and the reconnection after a disconnect is very fast. i see no trouble

Voice connection to Nexus 6P with Gear S2 3G on Verizon

So I have been struggling with this since opening day!
When the watch is connected to my 6P (and my Nexus 6 before that - which was not Marshmallow) I can answer and make calls from the phone, but the audio and mic always default to the watch. This is super annoying. Verizon sent me a new watch which does the same. Samsung says it's a Marshmallow problem. Google says its a Huawei problem. And they send me back to Verizon.
So, what I have resorted to is waiting for the call to connect and then on the phone override the BT audio to handset prior to talking. What a hassle!
If you override the BT audio on the phone's BT setting for the S2, then you are no longer given the option to take the call on the S2 (of course).
Anyone have a similar experience? What to do next?
I have the same exact problem with the S2 3G paired with the Nexus 6P. I unchecked phone audio in the phones bluetooth settings but as you said, it disables the option to use the S2 as a phone. Hope there is a solution soon.
Seems to not be fully compatible with marshmallow yes
I have this issue as well. Also when I make a call with my phone (Nexus 6) the call is always completed on the watch via Bluetooth connection. I have to switch back to the phone on the watch during the call.....
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Update - Sammy Boo
Spoke with Samsung again. I thought the Gear Manager update yesterday would fix this - no deal!
Samsung is now claiming this is a software upgrade with the Gear S2 and is intentionally programmed functionality! Really?
I requested an escalation to their development team as a software enhancement to revert to prior functionality - they assured me that would happen, and they'll send me a notification from their team; problem is, they did not take any of my contact info!
I'm having an issue with CM13 on a Note 4 with a Gear S2. I changed the build.prop from Samsung to HTC to allow the Gear app to function (it doesn't like CM on Samsung phones) and all seemed well. When I try to click send to take a call, nothing happens. When I receive a call I only have the option to reject it from my watch. My watch is not activated, I don't need 2 numbers.
After spending hours on the phone with Verizon and Samsung I flashed a TW based rom and calls instantly worked. I'm pretty happy with my CM rom and I'd like to find a way to get it to work with that rom.
Did this ever get resolved?
I had Samsung Gear S2 with my Note 7 and life was awesome! Then tragedy struck and my life with a good phone is put on hold for at least 6 months, until the S8 series releases in Feb?/March?/April? of 2017. Until then, I decided to limp along with a somewhat cheaper Nexus 6P. The problem is, it throws all my incoming calls over to my Gear S2 instead of picking up on the phone handset. I then have to choose the drop down option to use my handset instead. This is NOT the intended operation. If I wanted to answer the call on my watch, I would answer it on my watch. I don't want to answer on my phone and then have my watch pick up. There is no way that I have found to correct this. This is terrible functionality for an otherwise very promising piece of technology (the watch, no the phone).
I have the same issue on 6p on ATT. What I normally do is like said above is uncheck the Bluetooth handset under Bluetooth settings. Then just turn call forwarding on..Therefore when I want to take calls on the watch I just wait about an extra 10secs. Or of course answer on the phone.
BTW when i had a samsung S6 this was not an issue...

LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition W200 Good/Bad/Thoughts

Ok I want a watch I can receive calls from and I tried the Gear S2 and the battery life was horrible and from what researching the only other option that has phone capabilities is the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition. I was going to get the W200 version even though im on AT&T.
QUESTIONS:
1) Is there any more wearables that have a sim card I can receive and make calls without my phone being around in case I forgot it at home.
2) I have a Nexus 6 and will have to use the call forwarding instead of AT&T NumberSync like it did for the Gear S2 anyone have trouble with it?
3) I love Google hows it run on the wearable and is a good watch for the $$$...
Thanks!

Hello,
1)There is also the Finow X5 with 3G, lots of info. on this forum and youtube. Around $140,-
2) I have the W200 in Europe and use that also without any problem.
3)I like the watch, although i wasn't into smartwatches until this one. I think it's worth the money, but that's a matter of opinion.
Regards.
Is the Finow X5 the other only one? I have searched everywhere for other watches that have sim cards or 3g,4g or lte and onle came up with the two. Thanks for the reply!
Hello,
I have no idea. maybe some unknown brands.
But i think we will see some more in the next couple of months.
Regards.

I'm not sure what you considerable horrible battery life for a watch being used as a phone, but I have the W200A and used it for a call that lasted probably around 30 minutes or so. The call was long enough that it said that my watch was reaching max temperature or something and suggested that I end the call. At the conclusion I'd say I'd discharged at least 20% of my battery on that call. It stands to reason that it's more meant to have brief conversations given the size of the accessory and available volume for battery. On the upside I was informed that the call was crystal clear (and far better than my iPhone in a Lifeproof case).
I'd be surprised if any watches have great battery life when actively using it as a phone, although mine is always connected to cellular (and on standby to take calls) as well as connected to Numbersync and I can get about 15 hours - a full day - using it normally.
I cant connect to NumberSync because I have a Nexus 6 and its not supporting HD Voice on AT&T. Im going to have to forward my calls like i did on the Gear S2. I mainly like the ability to recieve my texts and emails while im at work since im not allowed to carry my phine but I can wear a watch so there is an advantage and the calling is a plus but wont grt used much.
After messing around looking at reviews for the Ubane 2 I ran into another watch that took a sim card KingWear KW88 SLEEK then from there the Chinese market of watches started popping up like crazy with cameras and as much crap as you can fit on a watch I guess you get what you pay for and the quality was horrible and went down hill so I'm going to buy the Ubane 2 its on sale this weekend for $337.... It might be Chinese/Korean or what ever but with a better quality standards at least and with a well known company like LG behind it.
Thanks,

App like Wear Aware for Gear S3

Does anybody know is there an app for Gear S3 like wear aware that notifies you on your watch if you've left your phone behind?

Once you leave the range that Bluetooth works you will get a vibration on your watch and if you look at it, it will show that it's disconnected. That should be enough unless you just have numb wrists and can't feel anything.
Same here. I just hear the beep on my watch to know I'm out of range.
I used to have alarm apart on the gear s....but not available for the s3. I badly need such an app again.

New Gear S3 Frontier - No Samsung Pay?

Hi All,
I'm in the US and just ordered a new S3 Frontier from Amazon. Pressing the back button twice did not open Samsung Pay, (it didn't do anything at all). It is not available in the new Samsung "Wearables" android app. I have an S8 running Android 8.0 and Samsung Pay works perfectly there.
I also noticed that when I connect a BT headset to the phone, no audio comes out, or it routes the audio to my phone's speakers. I have to disconnect the phone from the watch in order to use Spotify or hear music from my headset. Shouldn't I be able to have a BT headset connected to the watch, and then the watch connected to the phone? I can't get this scenario working so that I could answer a call on the headset, if it came through for example.
Also - any cool tips for a new S3 owner are welcome. I'm keep browsing the threads
Cheers

Did you order the US version of the Gear S3 or the international version? Also, you don't press the back button twice to activate Samsung Pay, you press and hold it.
Sorry, I meant holding the back button did nothing.
My Amazon order says US version in the description. However, I just tried to register the serial on Samsung.com and it can't find it. Wonder if Amazon sent me the wrong one?
Is there another way to check? If Samsung Pay doesn't work on this one, I guess I'll have to exchange it.

Check the model number of your Gear S3 - the US version is: SM-R760NDAAXAR. And you could exchange it if it is not the US version that you ordered - but I would suggest you just try changing the CSC code first - see the thread on that, it's easy to do.

Some instructions re: connecting a Bluetooth headset: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-33520
Thanks for the input. When I dialed *#1234# the full model number appeared as: R760XXU2CRH1. I think that's the international version right? Are there are any main differences aside from S Pay? I thought the international one has no warranties or something as well. Perhaps a lower resale value as well?
FYI - I returned it to Amazon. It was the International version. I noticed that I could not register for the warranty on Samsung.com with the serial number.
When I received the real US version, I noticed some different packaging and a different charger. I now have Samsung Pay working

Yea, most of the international versions of phones and wearables aren't covered by warranties if purchased in the US. Somewhere in small writing Amazon usually mentions that.
